- VIETNAM MUSIC VIDEO What Did You Do in the War, Daddy ? Volunteers Good Morning Vietnam welcome home to all Vietnam vets thanks all gave some some gave all The United States entered the war to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam as part of their wider strategy of containment. Military advisors arrived beginning in 1950. U.S. involvement escalated in the early 1960s and combat units were deployed beginning in 1965. Involvement peaked in 1968 at the time of the Tet Offensive. Despite Paris Peace Accords, a peace treaty signed by all parties in January 1973 and Case-Church Amendment, a legislation passed by the U.S. Congress in June 1973 prohibiting further direct U.S. military intervention without Congressional authorization, the U.S. was still heavily invested in the war until 1975. The capture of Saigon by North Vietnamese army, in April 1975, marked the end of Vietnam War. North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year. The war was fought between the communist North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other member nations of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO). a Vietnam pilots war footage of choppers and fire birds AHC Between June 1964 and December 1972 around 3500 New Zealand military personnel served in South Vietnam. In contrast to the First and Second World Wars, this country's contribution was modest. At its peak in 1968 the New Zealand force only numbered 543. Thirty-seven died while on active service and 187 were wounded. The Vietnam War − sometimes referred to as the Second Indochina War − lasted from 1959 to 1975. In Vietnam it is often referred to as the American War. It was fought between the communist Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) and its allies, and the US-backed Republic of Vietnam in the south. It ended with the defeat of South Vietnam in April 1975. Way too late. Vietnam Veterans represent America's Bravest Generation. Hated in the 'Nam and reviled in the States. Welcome home, Brothers.
This was my buddy, Race's song when we were in Nam in 1969. Can't hear it without thinking about Race. I love you, brother, where ever you are.

Thanks, blackadder and the use of a classic music background. It blends well with the zeitgeist of the 1960s-70s.

What a seriously good question to ask. What, DID, you do in the war, daddy ? That would be a little tough to answer (truthfully).
What is the origin of the film file of your video? Is it possible to identify a veteran who appears between 01:24 to 01:25 of the video?

in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic :(
there were about a million U.S. troops and south VN combat soldiers with support of air forces and naval but we did not win the war, why ?
the answer is politics, hidden negotiation between CIA and VC held in Paris, some wanted to fight and some did not, there was conflict between black, white , Spanish, Mexican etc.
John Lennon said this music was his best music he listened
