- VIETNAM MUSIC VIDEO welcome home to all Vietnam vets thanks all gave some some gave all What Did You Do in the War, Daddy ? The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin Volunteers Good Morning Vietnam The United States entered the war to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam as part of their wider strategy of containment. Military advisors arrived beginning in 1950. U.S. involvement escalated in the early 1960s and combat units were deployed beginning in 1965. Involvement peaked in 1968 at the time of the Tet Offensive. Despite Paris Peace Accords, a peace treaty signed by all parties in January 1973 and Case-Church Amendment, a legislation passed by the U.S. Congress in June 1973 prohibiting further direct U.S. military intervention without Congressional authorization, the U.S. was still heavily invested in the war until 1975. The capture of Saigon by North Vietnamese army, in April 1975, marked the end of Vietnam War. North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year. The war was fought between the communist North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other member nations of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO). a Vietnam pilots war footage of choppers and fire birds AHC Between June 1964 and December 1972 around 3500 New Zealand military personnel served in South Vietnam. In contrast to the First and Second World Wars, this country's contribution was modest. At its peak in 1968 the New Zealand force only numbered 543. Thirty-seven died while on active service and 187 were wounded. The Vietnam War − sometimes referred to as the Second Indochina War − lasted from 1959 to 1975. In Vietnam it is often referred to as the American War. It was fought between the communist Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) and its allies, and the US-backed Republic of Vietnam in the south. It ended with the defeat of South Vietnam in April 1975. I am the son of a Vietnam Veteran and I am very proud of my father who served in the Marine Corps in 1968 and 1969. My father is my hero and thank you to all those who served.
Да Будет Так…Привет из России!!!!Башкирия….💥💥💥✋✋
I remember well listening to this song in Radio Saigon inside my tent, raining non-stop, along with the noise of the arclight bombs, bad memories
A friend of mine flew a medevac helicopter in Vietnam. He wouldn't tell me much more than that. I don't think he wanted to share what he saw. I, personally, KNOW that these men and women served with dignity and honor. PERIOD!
Somethings you can't unsee, those things are what you don't want to talk about. The good things we did become distant memory's the bad is always there, being treated like some were returning home only drove it deeper inside.
A long time ago many wounds still exist but we did what was asked of us. God Bless all my Brothers out there 🙏🇺🇸
Thanks for respecting his privacy.
@suiterd62 how the men acted in a specific war totally was their choice. for example, did they fight against another army or citizen, or massacre, torture, rape, etc. are they really innocent. i don't think so.
I served with the U.S. Army in 1969. I was severely wounded by mortar fire in December and spend 8 months in army hospitals until August of 1970. Sometimes I watch these videos and wonder: Did I really go through all this or was it just a nightmare I had? Then I look at the many scars I have, and it brings it all back. Welcome home fellow Vietnam Vets.
bad war but we will never forget our brothers in arms.
"never reaching the end"... a words for all you can say... very bad for so many people've died... included my grandfather...:(
The Hell that these guys had to endure is beyond most peoples comprehension ,they don't want to be praised for it just accepted like everyone else ,they are the best of the best ,I'm proud to have them as my friends .
The greatest privilege I have ever had was to have been the first to welcome home a good friend from Nam in about 1994. I asked him who was the first person to thank him for going to hell for the rest of us and he said nobody had. Well that ended right there in a flood of tears. My daughter had a middle school assignment to interview a veteran and she asked if she could ask that friend and he graciously said yes. He left out a few details such as despite close to three decades of therapy he had never told of his experiences, let it all out. He decided to unload around my dining room table with my wife daughter and myself and it was recorded to play in school which was of course something he was glad to do. He was a bit pissed at me for editing out a few bits I would trust nobody to know. He passed away from the long term affects of agent orange just a few years later. Helping him deal with his demons allowed me in a very small way to feel like I did my part.
@Owain Doomer Just audio not sure I can even find it.
#blackadder73nz Thanks for putting all of these videos for us who want to remember and pay our respects. My boyfriend was 75th Rangers.
Hoowah!
Great song and great video. Respect for all soldiers and veterans
The Medivac Huey brought back memories. Thanks
Agreed. The Medivac Huey saved my ass! I would have bled to death if it had arrived maybe 5-10 minutes later.
What an Erie song ,with all the destruction and death, makes me so Sad ,
South Vietnamese will never forget the sacrifice of the American soldiers fighting for freedom in this country. Even though this freedom lasted for about 10 years, it gives an opportunity for them to fully understand what freedom really means when they live under the dictatorial Communist regime. Salute !!!
All I can tell you is, I'm damn proud I served my country. No one can ever take that away from me.
A blackadder73nz, Soy una gran admiradora de tus publicaciones. Enhorabuena, desde España ( Europa ), mi más Profunda Admiración.
The memory I have is that my father was stationed in Thailand so I was born and he returned to the country.

How empty their eyes became by what tbey saw and what they were ordered to do. The largest number of homeless soldiers and PTSD came out of that war. It was so painful to see these innocent sactifices to man's greed and power.

Iconic
My brother served in Nam i remember being at the airport to welcome him home and watching people tossing piss on him from coffee cans. I was a kid and wondered why ? He didn't want to be there and he came home with no left leg. 😥🙏
Was Vietnam more of a sore and morbid war for the US than WWII? We lost more men in WWII, but the public backed them wholeheartedly, because the purpose and goal was clear. Vietnam seems to have done something to our great country. I don't like studying the Vietnam war because it's so depressing to me.
David D. Davidson It was the war that began our nations downward path toward appeasment and submission.
I can’t member what rink my uncle was in Vietnam but I do know he pulled staff in Saigon and still flew a Huey. Pardon my French but remember one thing he said if those goddamn bastards in DC will get their heads out of their asses quit micromanaging this war and let us win the damn war we would be home by now
Late answer, but Vietnam was also largely televised and was MUCH longer. And, as you said, WW2 saw the widespread, dare I say universal, support from the people, both involved and civilians. The troops knew what had to be done in WW2, and the civilians supported them. In Vietnam, it was more-or-less pointless, it was far longer, and it was televised.

Why is America ... half a world away from our country, bringing soldiers and weapons to inflict pain on our country? That war is meaningless ..
We were there to help the South Vietnamese army from Communist North Vietnam. It was not our war to fight but we only were there to aid the South in securing freedom for Vietnam.
