Ahhhh the E815. The sequel to the V710 which I desperately wanted. That "poor 1.3MP camera" was the first 1+ megapixel camera I'd seen after years of 0.3MP cameraphones! Oh and those keys! Yesssssssss.
Can't believe you actually did DUN with an E815 and Dell Axim. Next-level nerditude that I would have been so jealous of.

The e815 was my second cell phone after an Ericsson candy bar phone. Loved using the DUN hack on Verizon to feed internet via bluetooth to a Nokia internet tablet (ha, Verizon and their silly restrictions - so glad I switched to T-mobile in 2010). Anyway, it's funny how back then you looked a bit odd and felt self-conscious staring at your devices in public, but now of course it's the new 'normal'. Thanks for the throw back, Erica. Always enjoy your vids!

Daaaamn. I was an early adopter it seems in 97.
My phone could text. It could call. It could store numbers and it could call those stored numbers, but it could not text those stored numbers. This meant you had to have an absolutely insane memory to remember everybody's phone numbers to know who texted what to you, and then to reply to the text (no it didn't auto complete the number on reply).
Motorola C510 (though I can't find that model - looks similar to an M3778e). Epic phone. Epic invincible phone of ultimate brickyness.

First phone was a Motorola T190. Mono chromatic display. monophonic ringtones. Pretty much all it could do was call and text. But I loved it. It was built like a tank and a remember friend that lives next door had the same one. Ringtone composer was one of the coolest things. Was always making my own tunes with it.
First PDA was a HP iPAQ h4100 I think. Used to think styluses were the coolest thing! Didn't have a way to get net on it most the time but carried it everywhere. Used for notes and tinkered with it a lot, see what I could do/ get out of it. Dad got the Rx 3715 a little while later and we traded them. Liked the look of the rx3715 more and it was built more for multimedia so he thought I'd get better use with it. I loved it. Used to put tracks I'd made in FruityLoops on it and listened to them on the school bus.

My first phone would've been in college, around 1997. It was a Motorola but I don't know the model. Candy bar style with just a B&W text screen. Google image search isn't being very helpful. I remember testing the web function once. Spent less than a minute on it and got an $11 charge on my bill. I actually still have my second or third phone though, the Sony-Ericsson s710a. LOVED that phone! Also around 1997 I had a PDA, the Compaq Aero, first PDA with a color screen I believe. I took all my class notes with it and even recorded audio from lectures. I could actually record over an hour of audio and it sounded really good, even after transferring the files to my computer.
Edit: Found it! My first phone was not Motorola is was the Qualcomm QCP-860 That was also the last time I ever used Sprint.

My first phone was a Samsung Impression in the beginning of 2009. It had a 3.2 inch touchscreen and was the first phone to have an AMOLED screen in the US. I used that thing all the time and loved the slide out keyboard and touchscreen. I remember the camera being so cool too. I used to watch RUclips videos on it all the time and I would get ringtones and stuff from friends. A little later that year I got an iPhone 3G from my grandpa and gave him the Samsung. When my upgrade was due I got the 3GS and have had every subsequent iPhone model (flagship). A few HTCs and Galaxy Notes sprinkled in between. When I used the Samsung I would carry an iPod Touch 2G with my for my apps and music. That was the true device I used, like your Dell. When I got the iPhone after that I never looked back. It’s crazy how much has changed since then.

Boy I thought I was the cat's meow with each of those devices. My first semi smartphone was the LG Voyager and my second semi smartphone was a Palm Centro. I had the Zire 71. I was probably the only one in my school to have a PDA. I guess it wasn't as cool as I thought it was. My first phone was a Trium Mars, followed by a Nokia 3310. It wasn't until I got the Sony Ericsson K810i that I could connect my Zire 71 to the internet via IR. I just had to make sure they were both on a flat surface with the IR ports facing each other within a close proximity. Those were the days. The days when tech was both super fun and a huge pain in the a... 🙂

My very first phone was a Motorola e398. It was a hand-me-down from my mom, who never used it, at around 2005 - 2006. Used it quite a lot to listen to music with its dual speakers and watch videos I was sent via Bluetooth.
My first smartphone however, was a Sony xperia tipo, at late January 2013, which was a necessary purchase after finding out that my Sony Ericsson k550im (daily driver for 5 years straight) had some burnt pixels in its display. By the way, I still have that phone, stashed in its box in a wardrobe and if it wasn't for its display, it'd still be my daily driver.

My first ever cellphone was a Nokia 1208... It was black and white... Basically my parents gave it to me just to know where I was back in 2008... I was 11 back then. After 1 year I bought the Nokia 5130... That was my media device,my internet device and my connectivity device... I loved listening to music on it.. I used to chat with my buddies with the phone and remind you I was 12 and most of my friends didn't have a personal phone... I had my first android in 2013... Between this period I had several Nokia phones and one of the memorable one was Nokia E-72 which I got in 2012 just because of the 5MP autofocus camera! And I loved the camera it was so fun and I have great photos from the time. I could get an android back then but android didn't have a good camera under 200$ at the time and I was too young to buy a costly device!! Now I am 23 years old and I am a student... still broke and don't have money! Right now I'm using a Xiaomi redmi note 8 pro... This one is great for the money...

Liked the video. That Dell looked pretty impressive for the time. But you should have backed up your Palm Zire. There were free apps that would automatically back up to your SD card at whatever time you set up. Hooking up to your PC was an option, but not a requirement. I owned a few Windows Mobile devices and they had their advantages, but I preferred the Palm platform and had quite a few. I would upgrade to a new one when they came out. I still use a Palm Treo as a PDA and carry it with my cheap Android phone for calls and text. I like the apps and use databases I created with it over the years. I preferred Palm because of the larger selection of apps, mostly.

Ah the 2005s. I was rocking a Samsung SCH i-730 PDA phone WITH A SLIDE UP KEYBOARD and thought I was a boss :) That had Windows Mobile on it. Blackberry what? (Did use several Blackberries in my time.)
Still remember my very first PDA: a Palm IIIe because at that time in college I couldn't yet afford the sexy new Palm V. Once I got the Palm V, I felt like I was so high tech. And then I got the foldable keyboard for the Palm V and game over. My flip phone during those times was a Samsung with a mobile browser which everyone wanted to use to check email and ESPN. Tethered with the V, I didn't even need a laptop.
Fun times indeed. I also remember upgrading to an HP Jornada PDA at some point after college.

You were baller to have a cell phone in 2005. I didn't get my first cell phone until 2011 at the age of 21. In high school I had a sony clie which was my first pda (still have it in its full functionality because it didn't have internet capability) Then I got an ipod touch 2g in 2008 which blew me away and i could make calls over wifi for free. My first real cell phone was a nokia c3 blackberry knockoff thing (also still have it and still works but only on 2g. Then I went through android phones for a few years until I got the moto e 1st gen which marks my first phone that wasn't hot garbage

My first phone was the Nokia N70, I remember connecting it to home network internet by bluetooth dongle in an always-on old PC making it sort of a wifi on bluetooth.

I had my first cellphone in 1997. ;) Nokia 5110, back when Nokia were the best phones to get.

My very first phone was the Motorola V505 which I bought at 18. My very first smartphone would have been the HTC 8125. Both were Cingular phones. Feels like another lifetime ago.

I loved my hacked E815! For its time, the screen was awesome! I had that baby until Verizon offered the "iPhone killing" LG Voyager (VX10000)! 🙂👍

I think my earliest tech devices were a Sony Cleà PDA and a Motorola Star TAC. The phone would get so hot while was talking on it that I was convinced I would develop a brain tumor. I really felt Cool at the time for having it though. 😁

1st phone was a Nokia E72...I still use that do date as a backup phone as it can last weeks on a single charge. But I got my first laptop back in 2008. I was only 7 during that time.

I got out of high school in 2000, but got my first personal cell phone in 05 which was a Motorola C139 on the AT&T GoPhone Network with $0.25 a minute calls, and $0.10 a page txt. Before that I had been using a Nextel flip phone from my previous job in landscape work with push to talk, and my boss at the time gave me as a Christmas gift in 02 a Palm M100 that I kept well after I got my Motorola C139, and even had a keyboard that clipped to the bottom of it to make things a bit easier.

*My first phone was the Nokia 2010. My first PDA was the Palm m100 with a whopping 2MB (yes, megabytes) of non-expandable storage.*

My very first phone was the Nokia 5110. Calls, maybe texts and snake was about it for that thing. I didn't get any fancy stuff as a kid. My sister actually got me my first flip phone with a color screen and it was awesome at the time. It was the lg vx3200. My first smart phone was the original Motorola Droid years after it came out

My first phone was the Ericsson a1018s on Voicestream and first PDA was the Philips Nino. I know all too well not having persistent storage and losing all of my data. The good old days.

I had a Zire 71 at some point and I'm sure it had an app called epacrates for info on meds. If I remember right it was actually useful as I was a nursing assistant at the time (psych nursing). Not my first though. I had a previous palm pilot. The zire was an upgrade for me. My first cell phone was a tiny Samsung flip phone, but I don't think it had a camera?

My first was a nokia brick phone in 2002. Upgraded to a Moto Razr in 2005. I kept that Razr until 2010 when I bought my first smartphone and, since I loved Motorola at the time I got the OG Droid. I am so happy I didn't buy an Iphone. Been on Android ever since.

I had that motorola back then, I preferred it over the Razor that came out because this one did more. I used to listen to mp3s on this thing in lunch.

Yes! I had the Motorola e815!! It was a great phone. Bulky but worked. It was my 3rd phone. My first was a Nextel then moved to Verizon and had a LG vx8100. But that Moto was beastly great lol.
