Hi Dan, be sure to pin this so will be on the top! Early retirement is close, looking forward to visiting many of these places you share. Thank you so much.
Aloha Dan! I just got back from 2 weeks in Vietnam and must say...I'm hooked on Vietnam... Hoi An was my fave spot and charming beyond words! The local culture was very welcoming. And beyond affordable was a bonus! Appreciate your valuable financial breakdown of expenses! I'm a follower! Keep on doing your best tips! If u ever visit Maui..give me a call!
In 2023, i walk/jog the beach from Hoi An to Danang city (approx 15km). Nobody knows this is possible, and nobody does this. Dan would and could and he will vlog about it soon))
It’s great your covering Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries as well, I’ll look up your info on my subscription service I purchased from you to maximize my trip value. ❤🙏
Love your videos & Qiang's! Im seriously considering coming from the U.S. to Hoi An in September to see if it is somewhere I would like to live. It sure looks like a place I would love. Can you recommend any Expat groups that I might be able to connect with & hopefully make a friend or two & pick their brains.
Hi Dan, i love to watch your you tube. I was from Danang but live in United State for over 25 years. Hoi an and Da Nang are the most beautiful places in VN. My husband and I thinking about retire in couple years and retire overseas. We hope to see y’all in vn someday. 😃
Love your videos, big shout out from Bali! I am coming to check out Da nang and Hoi An in a couple short weeks. I applied for the 3 month e-visa but it states entry only good from 03/26/24 to 04/29/ 24. Do you you think thats the period of entry only or the validity of the entire visa? It is not clearly stated on the e-visa. If I only have the 33 days, what is the preferred (cheapest/quickest) country to jump to to apply for a new visa? Any suggestions appreciated. Keep up the great content!
While you are up there: we really enjoyed the train Da Nang-Hue and back. Get seats on the ocean side. Hue is a nice small city, and the Hue Citadel is like a mini Angkor Wat. Cyclo drivers drive you crazy tho.
We loved Hue Formica! We didn't make it this time but we did in 2019. Amazing place. Here is the place he is talking about everyone. ruclips.net/video/bXR1PB8MxYc/видео.html
Vietnam is one of the many SEA Countries I will visit. I don't know much about it yet, but I did save your Vietnam YT Playlist, as well as the other SEA Countries. Thank You!!
As You know, I do make positive comments. And watching Your videos, I Love the fact You share places I will never go to. Not because I cannot afford it. You made the visit for me. And I say to myself, "NO, I don't need to go there". I think more practical. Stay Awesome. 👍🏼
@@VagabondAwake In June, I will be making my Great Move to the Philippines. My plan was set 10 years ago, in 2014. Everything has and is landing in place.
If you are married to a Vietnamese citizen you should qualify for a visa exemption ( which is what I have ) - they are good for 5 years and allow multiple entry for 6 months each time - I think it was about $180 or so total at the Vietnamese embassy in Canada - saves a lot of hassle back and forth...
Really enjoyed walking the streets of Hoi An again with you. A very thorough living expenses detailed expertly. I agree too many tourists for my liking. Great channel👍
Have you made a video that explains what the cost of moving there would be from the USA and what hurdles you would have to cross to own property, if you can? I'm downloading your ebook. One big question is how hard would it be to raise a 15 yo son?
You can do a visarun every 90 days, and let an agent doo the dirty job. I like more Dalat, the climate is better and the prises are cheaper in Da Lat, but you have vo add on 60 USD extra for an extra domestic flight before going International visaruns, but Da Lat is a peacefull Paradice :)
Hi Dan and Qiang. Beautiful video of beautiful Hoi An. Maybe some day Vietnam will offer a long term visa similar to Philippines or Thailand. I hope. It is so cool how you two find so many tasty dishes. Thank you. 🎉🏖️🌅
If you have been around me long enough, you know Vietnam is one of my favorite countries in the world. But Vietnam has no retirement visa. Yet, every time we visit Vietnam, we meet many older Western people who have been here for years. Many of you asked why I didn’t ask Mark what visa he has. I have never met anyone that is overstaying a visa in Vietnam and Mark is not overstaying. Everyone I meet has permission to be in Vietnam. If you are a rule follower, you should only follow the official rules to stay in a country. That is what I recommend (and that is what Mark has done). But if you ever fall in love with a country and want to stay ... ask a few expats off camera how they stay in a country without overstaying their visa. Many people all over the world find ways to stay in countries they love. But if it doesn’t sound perfectly legit to me, I never promote it on my channel ... for two reasons. One, I don’t want to disrupt the lives of older people who are happily living in a country somewhere by publicly sharing controversial solutions that could get shut down if they became widely known because of me. Two, I don’t want to publicly encourage a large number of people to use the same controversial solutions ... it might embarrass officials and place me on a shit list. Instead, do exploratory visits, ask ex-pats questions off-camera, decide where you want to live and pick the best way for you personally to make that happen. That said ... I will be sharing more details about the various ways people are staying in Vietnam long-term as I learn more off-camera from the expats I meet here. Make sure to jump on my email list if you want to hear more controversial things that I am much more likely to share in an email after I have learned more. Email list: vagabondbuddha.com/fire-your-boss-travel-world/ Thanks for watching this video and commenting, Dan
Dan I love your videos I have to question you on some things. Yes Vietnam is cheap but until you live there years it’s not as lovely as you think. How can you retire in a country that doesn’t have a retirement Visa one a 90 day yes you have to keep doing border runs. Hoian is very noisy at night with loud karaoke chickens everywhere dogs everywhere. Also remember you’re a vegetarian so yes meals are cheap. There are no supermarkets in Hoian you have to drive into DaNang to Metro or other Malls. Doctors in Hoian are very little and maybe one small hospital that I wouldn’t go to. Hoian is run by mafia or the police. Great place to visit but not live.
I will let all the retirees I meet here know that they really don't love Vietnam. So where do you love. That will help people gauge if they think like you or not? Qiang is not a vegetarian and the food is cheap for her too. Maybe you are just eating mostly western food?

This central part of Hoi An is a tourist area. The Vietnamese tourists are also there but the locals are mostly back about 3 blocks or more from the water, where it is not as crowded and much cheaper. We would live with the locals if we moved here because we don't like crowds. I talk about this in the video. :-)

Hey Dan, another great video. Lunch on me if we ever run into each other! Speaking of food, as a fellow vegetarian, did you have any troubles there?
No trouble here at all. :-)
Good job Dan, What type of water filter do you use and are replacement filters easy to get. ...Thanks

It is just a brita water filter.
