Excellent breakdown. I've been waiting for this video. It would've been nice to have an example of a hypothetical SOM based on a pitch deck you've reviewed and what they were looking to raise.
Thank you! Not including SOM that's really helpful point! Didn't hear anyone talks about it really, it was too hard to try make any assumption on prototype stage. We're a mix of crowdfunding and donations in crypto and we want to charge 5% of donations. It's like a bit hard to say the amount of donations per year. Could you please advice how to get to this kind of data if we charge %? 🙏
This is super helpful as I happen to be adding the TAM-SAM-SOM slide to my pitch deck now. Right now we're at a TAM of 13.5B, SAM of 1.83B and still working on my SOM number to make it realistic based on our financial model and what we can achieve in the 1st 5 years. Hopefully, these numbers are interesting enough for a pre-seed investor.
This may be a dumb question. What if you’re technology is that innovative that it would consume the market. For example you had the cure for cancer. Therefore you own that whole segment. I hope you get the point.

That would be a whole video unto itself. Maybe soon.
Thank you!

You're doing it the right way. Go get the feedback from investors too. Great investors will help you get realistic about the SOM.
@@edkang99 I'm worried that my SAM isn't big enough, but it is what it is.
Thanks alot . Very informative. Would you plz reexplain why we don't need to include SOM ?
If you are early stage with no revenue, it is very hard to accurately calculate SOM that investors would believe. So I just recommend leaving it out.
great vid, thanks

Then your TAM would be everybody who has cancer.
