Dick lost his parents at an age where he was old enough to process and cope with their deaths whereas Bruce was at an age where he still relied on his parents for most things. Jason was used to surviving by himself on the streets since his adopted mother had died of a drug overdose, his dad was a henchman of Two Face's who Harvey killed and his biological mother Shiela Haywood betrayed him to Joker who beat the shit out of Jason with a crowbar and blew up a warehouse with Jason and Sheila in it killing them both. So Jason had dying and coming back to deal with as well as his parents deaths. Tim Drake's dad Jack and the first Captain Boomerang Digger Harkness killed each other during Infinite Crisis.
@Doragon Kaido it's not like a drug dude. it's like batman has the willpower to not kill, but it takes no willpower to stop killing, but batman doesn't kill because if he does indeed kill, he'll be just as bad as the criminals in arkham
I remember seeing an episode of Justice League where Batman mentions that he made the League to be his kryptonite. I disagree. If he goes rogue, he knows exactly who's going to be stopping him, and it isn't the people with superpowers. It's the people that he was closest with, the people that he trained. The people that know his weaknesses because they know him. The people that won't hold back on him because they know that he wouldn't want them to, and who Batman might hold back against because he can't lose another family.
Right. In Dark Knights Metal when we see the origen of the Batman Who laughs, the first people who he kills are the Robins and Batgirl. This is because they would be the first ones to know if something was wrong and could all beat him.
honestly i wanna see a storyline about all the robins teaming up for a certain mission. idk if they've already made a storyline like that yet but that would still be sick as hell.
@@Dylexis I'm just imagining if it was batman's Deathstroke or teen titan's Slade. Slade trying to make dick reminiscent of how he tried to him his apprentice and the other Robin's confused on what he meant by that.
I don't really like where the plot goes, but Batman and Robin: Eternal features all the Robins and they work together in a case. The first volume is quite good, then, imo, the second volume starts being more and more nuts until it doesn't make sense, but perhaps you'll have a different opinion!
Dick Grayson has tendencies to keep secrets from his team and refuse outside help that keeps screwing the Titans over. His leadership is hindered by having the trust issues of Bruce, except on Steroids. I give the title of best leader to Jon Jones. Having telepathy just gives you an unfair advantage in dealing with people.
It's because Batman is always brooding, always has something up his sleeve, always keeping secrets from the rest of the team. Whereas to Nightwing, he is the most reliable member of the batfamily AND Justice League. He knows how to atleast do some peptalk to his team mates which is why Superman and the rest of the JLA respects him so much. He is not afraid to show sincerity and is not just a hero who does the job but does it in a way to also inspire. Leadership is not done through FEAR. You can be the best tactician in the world, but it doesn't make you the best leader.
I never thought about Jason Todd in that way, thank you for making me think about how he kills but only who he thinks should die, unlike Batman who would probably kill every bad person. So again, thank you
Not really, especially in the case when Batman died. He started a gang war in gotham and though he is 'cleansing' the city, a couple of innocents got involved but his brain was still a bit addled during these times. RHATO made him great!
Its why I love 'Under the Red Hood' movie. The comic storyline of Jason's return is a hot mess, No one seemed to completely know what they wanted to do with him. But the Animated movie took everything I love about Jason Todd and makes it make more sense, and I feel overall flows better with the Jason we see nowadays in comics. Jason is a very pragmatic hero, who does what needs to be done. The movie defines his desire to only kill certain people very well. "I'm not talking about killing Two-Face, or Riddler, or any of them just [The Joker]. Becuase he took me away from you. If it had been you, I would have stopped at nothing to make him pay." His belief's. his pain, laid bare right there. I love the Joker, one of my favorite villains... but I absolutely agree that he needs to be killed. He's responsible for countless deaths, direct and indirectly. Batman's other villains are no where near that level when it comes to killing. Like, Joker has literally threatened to kill babies, it how he ends up killing Gordon's second wife in No Man's Land. He is not someone you try and reform. He absolutely needs the death penalty. Others, we see they can be reformed, they can be good people. Riddler, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, and Bane for example have all had runs where they aren't evil. They always eventually come back to that, becuase this is comics, No one is gonna stay reformed, just as no one will stay dead.
@@shahanahsan05 Personally, some of DC's best movies are Animated. Mask of the Phantasm, Return of the Joker, Under the Red Hood, Superman vs The Elite; off the top of my head all have a lot more going for them then most the Live Action movies.
Are we not gonna talk about how Jason has had on record better and more training than Batman? He went to be trained by the same people as Batman, plus people like the Al Caste which is an ancient group of assassins that put the league of assassins to shame, plus the LoA themselves. He has beaten or gotten into a stalemate with every member of the batfamily minus Batman himself who he himself has escaped multiple times from. He’s also a better marksman and planner. Overall while he lacks in certain things like acrobatics and his detective abilities, he certainly is far better than the majority of the human race in these things. And even in the acrobatics department he is faster than Batman and was able to keep distance from Dick in the Under the Red Hood comic. You really have Jason an underselling here.
@@shahanahsan05 to my knowledge jason was never trained by mercs in most comics he either gets trained by the league of assassin's or he just trains himself

Dick Grayson: Broader range of skills, MORE experience than Batman, more leadership, respect... and most importantly, he has a caring heart. "If you can make yourself more than just a man, if you can devote yourself to an ideal, then you become something else entirely." Nothing explains Batman's blessing and his curse more eloquently. Batman is revered for being an incorruptible symbol of justice. Yet his motivation for crime fighting, his trauma, his resolve, and his code hampers him to an eternal cycle of crimefighting, with nothing else or anyone else. Whether he is mentally strong or broken, it is daunting to see how one bad day can change everything.
Damian might be too violent and arrogant most of the time but he can also be caring and understanding like for instance you can take his relationship with superboy , Jon kent the two bring out the best in each other and try to do the right thing. Also Damian's love for animals also shows his kindness like he has cats a dog and a cow because of which he even turned into a vegan. He's also scarily smart like he hacked into some new genesis tech I only did this cause not many people seem to appreciate him that much.
Jason actually had the most technical understanding, because he was able to steal the tires from the batmobile without activating the alarmsystem and later when he came back to life, was able to plant a bomb on it with a special wetsuit he build because he knew every countermessure the damn car had.
I love that you acknowledged both Jason's ability to plan but also his emotional tendencies. He is great at playing the long game, but he also feels things SO much. I think those traits complement each other so much. The emotions fuel the drive through the path he's laid out. People like to say that Batman passed on a distinct trait to each Robin, and they always say Jason got the aggression or the rage or whatever, but I'd argue he got the emotion... and the stubbornness. The guy was too stubborn to stay dead. But what I mean is that I think as hard as Jason rages, he loves and feels compassion just as much. I think that's why Batman not avenging his death stung so much. Jason knew how much he loved Bruce, he knew what he would do if someone hurt Bruce, and then as far as he could tell, Bruce didn't love him nearly that much. Even when he died (depending on the version, ofc), he tried to save the mother who betrayed him to Joker. And he wasn't even mad that Batman didn't save him (Arkham Knight not included, I didn't care for that take). To me all of this speaks to a person brimming with love and compassion for others, who doesn't understand letting someone get away with hurting something you love, who doesn't understand putting your own moral code over the safety of others. And I mean, yeah, he's got a temper, but he shows over and over again that he can focus that anger into methodical and effective plans. ugh, if you can't tell, he's my favorite batfam member. I wish DC was a bit more competent at writing any of them. Or at least sticking to a certain characterization and not changing it every five minutes to suit the random plot. they're practically choose your own adventure books at this point. And god help anyone trying to get universes and storylines straight.
I want to see a story where Damian is a teenager and he moves out to become his own hero. Sure, he had that Teen Titans run, but he hadn’t become more mature, which, let’s be hones, he should be by this point. I think they could mesh his personality with Terry McGuiness and he moves to a city like Paris or Prague, and while he’s there, he can find his own arch enemy, who can kind of be the Robin to the Joker, and it can be implied that they will be the future legacies. Also, if we ever learn the official origin of the Joker, it would only be fair if Tim Drake helped Batman figure it out, since he is the detective, and at the end of the story, Batman can say to Tim that he officially is the world’s greatest detective
The robins make up parts of Batman dick is the agility/leader Tim drake is his smarts Damien is his fighting prowess red hood is like a combination of all of them as well
I can’t pick a favorite, I just can’t. I love all of them. They all have so much depth and uniqueness; yet similarities that compliment the hell out of one another as well
Of all of Batman's proteges, my absolute favorite is Jason Todd. I fully agree with his logic that some criminals like the Joker, who cannot be cured of his insanity and will always strive to murder and create chaos, are fully deserving of the death penalty. And btw, I had no idea that Batman actually had Jason put in Arkham Asylum, only for Jason to be declared legally sane all along.
I realize I'm late to the party, but this just showed up in my recommended and I felt the need to chime in and add a few things. All of them I'd say are arguably better leaders and team players than Batman, with possibly the exception of Damian and Jason depending on what versions we're talking about. I'd also say they're all a lot more mentally and emotionally healthy for the most part, though again there are definite exceptions depending on what versions we're talking about. Pre-Robin Damian and and post-Lazarus Jason, again, being prime examples. Dick I'd say is also better at improv and unpredictability. His fighting style is hard to pin down (it was even compared to jazz at one point to emphasize this), and he's not as easy to figure out as Batman when it comes to his habits. You generally know what to expect from Batman (with the exception of some of his more ridiculous plans): paranoia, contingencies, and the same tried-and-true methods. I'd say Dick is definitely less predictable in that front and more willing to try new things. I'd say Jason is just way more practical and able/willing to do what needs to be done.
When Batman says that he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from killing if he kills the joker, doesn’t he mean that killing the joker would set a precedent? If he kills the man he would have to ask himself what crimes justify death for the other rogues
Yeah cause if he killed joker he'd basically be saying that every single person who commits a crime should die, basically every single african kid who robs food from their government should also die.
Such a slippery slope but one that is easily fixable. Know why? Joker killed millions directly/indirectly with no remorse. That is where the line should be drawn but of corse that gets ignored.
Cameo Shadowness why does it takes a million deaths to justify killing the Joker? Why not less? Rás al Ghul as killed a comparable number of people his 400 years of life and he certainly doesn’t feel guilty. If Batman kills the Joker he goes for Rás, Vandal Savage, Black Adam, The Court of Owls,.... Why does 1,000,000 deaths justify killing someone and not 999,999?
I'm surprised that you didn't made a "Honorable Mention" for Terry McGuiness. I know that he is the replacement for Bruce Wayne but in a way, he was a Robin as well.
Event Laviathan. Bruce and Damian accused Jason of being the new leader of Laviathan. Jason isn't the new leader, and he was so hurt and angered about the fact both Bruce and Damian thought it was him, he proceeded to kick their butts. He also went after the meta humans who were working with Bruce and kicked their butts too. Damian had to admit that Jason was better than him and Bruce.
If we are talking kid Damian yes he surpassed them at fighting but Damian as a adult he dosent stand a chance against old Damian and Bruce beat Jason’s ass so many times
@@ladyoftheabyss13 yeah it's really weird Jason can't beat bruce as at the end of the new 52 bruce and Jason have a final showdown and bruce breaks ason and Jason says "did you ever hit joker that hard"
Once, after Ra's stole Batman's contingency plan for the JLA superman asked him if he had a plan for if he went rogue, and Batman said he did it was the Robin's. He said all 4 of them together could take him down.
Best explanation perhaps no single Robin alone could take him down solo but with their combined skills and things they excel at even more than Bruce himself they could take him down.
Damian used his voice imitating skill in Batman Incorporated issue 8, I think it was. Batman didn't allow him going outside, so he wouldn't get killed but he used his skill of imitating Batman's voice to open the door and got out. This was a issue where died and issue where he showed his skill again.
I wouldn't say that Damian is the Better Fighter. He's more Ruthless than Bruce. Tim is smarter than Bruce in certain areas: Detective work and tech, but Bruce is certainly overall leagues more Intelligent. There are few things that Bruce can't do intellectually i.e. Fighting Genius, Criminology, and forensics.
Damian is way better as an adult then Bruce ever was, he doesn’t admit things like that unless it’s true and the fact Damian is like the 3rd or 4th generation of fighters from the al Ghul line with Batman genetics as well
@@UnaLaw04 1. This is child Damian, not Adult Damian. 2. "Way better" is absurd considering that Bruce Wayne is one of the Best Fighters in History. Sure, I understand his pedigree, but let's be reasonable. Genetics ain't everything in terms of Fighting.

I like Tim way more than the others. Unlike other batboys he was just a normal kid and a fan of batman. When batman was broken and more vicious after Jason's death, he became robin cause it was the right thing to do. He's very underrated. I he's written right he can be way more relatable and interesting than the other Batboys.
Facts. He used his intelligence and ambition to earn his way into the family, AND originally he was also a great martial artist who trained under Lady Shiva, one of the best. Bruce also trusts him as rightful heir to his company, and Ra's called him Batman's best successor and the best detective. Though we know he later finds out he's too mentally unstable to become Batman in the future (Dick should be), he can still stay as Red Robin until he retires into science, and uses the Wayne money and that to help people instead.
Another thing about Tim Drake’s intelligence is also the fact that Ra’s Al Ghul as far as I’m aware exclusively Batman “Detective”, however he also called Red Robin the same thing.
Yes. But,only out of knowing the Bat. And,seeing his shortcomings. Damion is still a work in progress. And,has teaching and mentoring of not only his father. But,of Alfred and his Brothers in the Red,Yellow and Green...
I like to think that their frighting styles are also different reflection their past and personalities Dick- Graceful with lots of kicks and likes to outmaneuver his opponents(cant take the circus out of the acrobat) Jason- Tough and direct, hard to put down, packing a punch outlasting opponents (probably got into some streetfights young and he did come back stronger or his sheer willpower would probably be keeping him standing) Tim- Analytical and measured, likes to use tools/weapons and to out-think opponents (he is the smartest but not the best hand to hand fighter) Damian- Instinctual, aiming for weak points and trying to pick apart his opponent (raised to fight and kill since birth )

Bruce has also mentioned that Dick is better at maintaining relationships. Even more than Superman, Dick is the one that can get all the superheroes together. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think originally in Infinite Crisis it was Dick who was supposed to die, not Connor, because his death would have such a huge impact on the superheroes but they changed their mind because Dick is so important, I think they thought it would be a step too far.

Everyone is forgetting the most important thing about Dick Grayson: He can rock a mullet better than Bruce ever could
The fact that Jason was determined to be sane while Bruce was seeing Jason as maybe not sane speaks volumes about Bruce's state of mind if anything.
Damian being able to imitate Tim’s voice is such a brotherly thing to do
I remember seeing an episode of Justice League where Batman mentions that he made the League to be his kryptonite.

Dick also designed and built his own car from scratch, and is the best leader in the DCU.
Nightwing is also a better leader than Batman.

No
@@regbrown2245 Thank-you!
It's because Batman is always brooding, always has something up his sleeve, always keeping secrets from the rest of the team.
Whereas to Nightwing, he is the most reliable member of the batfamily AND Justice League. Not really, especially in the case when Batman died. He started a gang war in gotham and though he is 'cleansing' the city, a couple of innocents got involved but his brain was still a bit addled during these times. RHATO made him great!
This is exactly why I love Jason Todd

Jason's power is having nothing to lose.
And that he's ginger
Jason's Father has been revealed to be alive and has taken on Jason's Batman Inc identity Wingman. Jason doesn't know any of this though.
Pretty much. You understand.
Ever read the injustice comics?
It's basically that with pretty set dressing and an unbearable drawn out story.

Jason- Tough and direct, hard to put down, packing a punch outlasting opponents (probably got into some streetfights young and he did come back stronger or his sheer willpower would probably be keeping him standing)
Tim- Analytical and measured, likes to use tools/weapons and to out-think opponents (he is the smartest but not the best hand to hand fighter)
Damian- Instinctual, aiming for weak points and trying to pick apart his opponent (raised to fight and kill since birth )
