Mrs. Ton initially started off by giving a subjective statement of "too many bad jobs". What is the measure in which you say they are bad. And also i would argue that those "bad jobs" people get are not necessarily career jobs. It is for moving up which should be encouraged. Now people could stay in those jobs because of a number of factors, but to say that because they pay bad, doesn't mean they aren't necessary. I do believe however that the colleges and universities have equipped some individuals with a very narrow career path. I think more emphasis on attitude toward certain jobs and inequalities is needed. A attitude of resilience to what the society says is a awesome job, accountability for decisions made and willingness to persevere and achieve what the individual wants for their life.
2 different company in 2 different countries. you can not determine the results by just judging their employment strategy. American people has buying power. they want what they want to buy and pay for it and they can afford it. at the same time a poorer country people focus more on the prices than the brands or products they want to buy. if you sell products in 3th world countries you will see that customers mostly focus on the prices. but if you try to sell something in American market you need to make connection to the buyer. when we do trade show in usa most of the buyers wants to chat and talk before they place an order. but at the same time in a 3th world country buyers do not want to chat or spend time with the seller but they just focus on the price and try to place their order for a lower price. i am not saying good jobs strategy is wrong or does not exist but you can not determine 2 companies results by just judging their employment strategy. it can be one of the important factors to success for companies. Some of the academics who never run a business before they think they know a lot about business. i think running a company is like driving a car. you can not just formula it. it changes according to time market trend macro dynamics micro dynamics ceo culture knowledge etc etc etc and one more thing if the economy is not good cheaper priced products sell more than the regular times at 3th world countries.
