- 2 years ago, Cara Rose DiPietro made it her mission to become the person she needed to see in the theater industry. Someone who was not on the other side of their struggles but actively fighting to put themselves first within an industry that often tells us not to. She emphasizes that it was only when she decided to put her health and happiness first, that the game changed.
Cara Rose DiPietro is a New York City-based Actor, Singer, and Dancer. A graduate of Elon University’s Music Theatre program, Cara is best known for her work at various regional theaters across the country such as Arena Stage, New London Barn Playhouse, The Link Theatre, and many more. Since moving to New York City, Cara has garnered over 200K+ followers across her social media platforms, capturing content about her journey as an actor, mental health, and so much more. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
This came out on a day I really needed it. I'm a current senior in my BA Theatre program, taking 7 classes this semester. I've been feeling guilty about doing fun things and not completely throwing myself into school/the show I'm currently SMing. I've felt the pressure of how competitive this industry is and feeling like I'm not doing enough if I'm not working on projects back to back. I have followed Cara almost from the beginning of her social media journey and her openness about mental health has helped me put my life, health, and happiness first.
thankyou for sharing this.. "there is not art without you in it"
"TEDx never fails to remind me how powerful ideas can spark real change in our world. Grateful for a space that celebrates curiosity, Innovation.❤😊😅
I understand exactly what you are talking about
And this makes you hate the thing you love, and the child who was in love turns into a sullen, Self-centered person.

As a critic, work on your tonality. When you express appreciation anxiety goes away with the brain literally shifting.
Interesting, most motivational speakers say you have to sacrifice other aspects of your life to attain your goals, not sacrifice your steps to your goals. 🤔🧐
This is ridiculous. You should sacrifice EVERYTHING for your art. Otherwise don’t even start. That’s the real world
I don’t find that true! There’s plenty of people who have kids or responsibilities and still have a passion to do something artistic! You don’t abandon your responsibilities for your art! Like everything in life, you shift things around!
Yeah you lost me after you mentioned pronouns. Bye.
I find this laughable. If you are going to restrain yourself from hearing other people’s stories and experiences simply cause they shared there pronouns, you are doing a complete disservice to yourself and missing the oppurtunity to connect with people around the world. Shameful.
Sharing your pronouns tends to be a standard part of an introduction in the world of performing arts, surely if you can't get past that then you probably agree with some of the problematic "traditional" views that she addresses i the video
