Between 1:31 and 1:36, two T-shaped posts can be seen on the bottom of the headlight casing. These fit into slots to secure the bottom. When you remove the headlight assembly, pull the bottom out to get these clear of the slots (which is a pain because of the bumper, as others have mentioned). I broke one right out of the headlight assembly getting it out. This also should have been explained early in the video. And for the two "legs" on the light connector, I used a screwdriver to pry these up. Probably didn't help that it was cold out when I did all of this. Video was still helpful.
Just replaced the whole headlight assembly, thery were a pain in the butt to remove. The new ones wouldnt line up perfect either after playing with them for over 2 hours. Scatched and cracked the paint in spots on the bumper, you made it look easy, for me it wasnt.
I had more trouble removing the housing than shown in the video- matter of fact, the housing cracked . I wonder if it might have been helpful to lather up the housing with Vaseline or something slippery to assist in getting this housing in and out. As for now, the car is 12-yrs old (which might be another reason the housing cracked), so I'm going to try to live with the cracked housing- hopefully the inside of the housing will not accumulate dust/dirt/moisture and reduce my lightbulb life. Fingers crossed.
No shit. Everyone who owns a cobalt cant get the headlight out because the opening is too small. People are breaking the lens trying to pull it out and videos like this are unrealistic, its like the fender was cut away or something. The real headlight assembly is wider than the hole, you have to take the bumper off to get it out.
Thank you. This video helped me out. I looked at three or four videos before I found this one. And y'all explained and demonstrated in more detailed. Thank you Ghostlyrich
So I did it thanks to this video but my dumbass forgot to put the plastic cover thingy back on lmao so now I am waiting until I have time to again take the entire headlight out to put it back on
Great video. Short, sweet & to the point.👍👍👍👍👍

Appreciate you sharing this video. I just replaced both head lights on my Pontiac G5 2008, and it took me less than half an hour. Thank you!
