Perfect music transition
lol.. im glad it happened though.. puzzle bobble is a wonderful game
I am glad there is a video like this. Not too many people knew there was a console called 3DO. My 3DO was not even made by Panasonic but it was Sanyo which looks different. It gave me souch joy when I was a kid. Gex was my favourite.
The intense intro music segway into the passive aggressive Bust A Move music is hilarious 😂 0:15
“A wisecracking gecko”🦎
That made me smile 🙂
Great list!!! The 3DO was my favorite console. Although most games blew chunks there is around 20-30 awesome ones! We bought it at around original release for $699... eeek. We ended up with around 60 games before we moved on to the next console.
Twisted, Return Fire, Road Rash, Star Control Melee Mode, Gex, Space Hulk, FIFA Soccer, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Slam n Jam Basketball, Starwars Rebel Assault, Wing Commander Heart of the Tiger, Way of the Warrior, and more were our favorites.
Loved linking up the controllers.
Starfighter , SpaceHulk , so many amazing games on this system .
Also it won the best technology award , the year after the Jaguar won it. In other words , the Jag was stripped of the award !
My dad and I spent hours playing the majority of all of these per day after school and it’s so good to hear these sounds again.
Is your dad bisexual
Another 3DO games list *without* Star Fighter.
"What's that you say? A full 3-D flying game with amazing air/space combat, destructible buildings and terrain and a shitload of missions? No, no thank you."
I probably spent a full year of my life playing Need For Speed, Slam & Jam 95 and FIFA Soccer. Shaving fractions of a second off my best NFS time on a course made my day. I also liked Battlesport, Return Fire, Flashback, Road Rash, Bladeforce, Foes Of Ali, and Star Control II.
Do you still have a 3DO?
I was 10 when the 3DO came out and it was way way out of my family price range. But I remember seeing one on display in a local video game shop, playing need for speed and fifa. I just couldn’t get over how advanced the games looked compared to mega drive and snes etc. amazing bit of kit.
Same here, $700 was way out of reach for my family but we ended up getting it at fry’s electronics when they were blowing them out on clearance. I forget what we paid but it was a no brainer for us and we didn’t have extra money.
@@Azeminad that’s great, bet you proper treasured it.
Very underrated console, but what really hurts it is the fact that most of it's games can be found on the PS1 or Saturn as well. Most of the small handful of exclusives it has are not very good games. However, it does have Lucienne's Quest, a jRPG exclusive to the console in North America (it has a Saturn port in Japan) that I've heard is pretty decent.
Yep
Seem like i was the only one in Chicago with this system. Rocked it Strong for around 3 yrs
ill give you Alone in the Dark and Wolfenstein, those games rocked. I never actually played street fighter on 3dO , but i gotta say if You are going for top 10, you gotta have Immercenary and Guardian Wars....those games are actually amazingly advanced RPGs for that time era
Road Rash was my favorite
Immercenary and Quarantine were two of my favorites, along with Star Control. I want another 3DO now ..
Road Rash was an awesome game, it was my most memorable 3DO game by far. Simple graphics with lots of speed and melee attacks. Surprised they did't mention the Soundgarden soundtrack and funny cut scenes.
I wouldn't say the graphics are that simple; there's some pretty unusual effects going on there.
@@jackjude And you are indeed correct (graphics featured digitalizations and texture-mapping). They were excellent for their time. Cutting-edge even.
@@IvoMaropo Agree, back then those graphics blew me away! Coming from SNES/MD(GEN) era and I had Road Rash & Skitchin' already too! 😎👍
Also, I bought and played Need For Speed on the 3DO first for a while before I got Road Rash quite a bit later, yet, it still impressed me back then! 👀That's saying something!!! 🤯 Such a shame Doom was crap on it cause it was rushed, it had the best exclusive soundtrack - the intro here reminded me of the disappointment!
Omg I remember Gex! Used to play that game all day long!
“Policenaughts”? Naughts? 😂
I'm surprised we never got a mad max game based on road rash with a bit of GTA original style car and fuel theft involved
Could have been great in the 90's
Samurai showdown... 💔
So old dayes when i was 7 years i play it many times.. I am now 28 year old
May god mercy my father's soul
Panasonic rulezzz!)) I’m 28 too👍
Lol reading your comment just me depressed too. I'm way too old :(
I love your choices. Great job! This inspired me to make a '5 3DO Interactive Multiplayer Games Worth Playing' video. I think you might like it. Keep up the good work.
hdRGB Thank You I look forward to checking out your video.
Need for Speed looks stupid good for the time. I was blown away.
Gex looked like a Geico video game.....Once you save 15% on car insurance you've beaten the game
This video really makes you FEEL like your a youtuber from 2008
9/10-Ign
Star Control 2 and Return Fire are my favorites. So good. Slam n Jam was great at the time as well. What a fun system back then.
Star control 2 forever)
Gex, Captain Quazar, Primal Rage, Off-World Interceptor, Phoenix3, Mad Dog, POED - вот этот список я запомнил на всю жизнь
Top 10
1. Road Rash
2. Star Control II
3. Super Street Fighter Turbo
4. Gex
5. Killing Time
6. Return Fire
7. Fifa Soccer
8. Wing Commander III
9. D
10. Burning Solder
Honorable mention Crash and Burn, Slam and Jam, Madden Football, Need for speed, Wolfenstien, Monster Manor, Star fighter, Space Hulk, Braindead 13, the Horde, Theme park, Samurai Showdown, Star Blade, Shanghai, Captain Quazar, Phoenix 3, PGA Golf,
Pebble Beach Golf, Flashback, Syndicate, Primal Rage, Cannon Fodder, Shockwave 2, Alone in the Dark 1 & 2, Bust a Move, Poed, Scramble Cobra, and Twisted any of which I could be persuaded to move to the top 10
Now I know where Gran Turismo got its skidding and engine noise sound effect from...😂
Not gonna lie, Need for Speed looks really impressive even today. Also, I always wondered where Gex originated. Nice video.
3D0 versions of Road Rash and Need 4 Speed was so superior to the PSX and Sega Saturn version...
I agree as the 3DO was the console the games were originally designed for. The PS1 and Saturn were just ports.
I came here just to say that. I still have a PSX (or two) and RR is crap compared to the 3DO version. The only thing that disappointed me about the 3DO version is that the CD track music only plays during the non-3d portions of the game, i.e. when you're actually road racing you get shitty background music. But then, oh man, Soundgarden :)
Oh yeah. I remember playing this for days on the 3DO when it came out. This, Slayer and Need for Speed crashing in the Lambo as fast as possible over and over lol. Back then, NFS had the best crash simulations you could get in a car game.
Devil'sAdvocate Me and my best friend used to have crash competitions, like most side rolls or land on tail end, etc. It was great fun.
very true and I know cuz had them all.....also fifa soccer was better
road and track presents the need for speed, the PC version on video !!
I too noticed that the only footage that represents the 3DO version of NFS must be from an emulator. The system never had the power to draw frames that fast. One reason I am thankful for emulators. They can actually improve frame rate and game play.
Look at the homebrew for the 3DO need for speed hack, it is faster and also has a higher framerate.
Pha Q the UI is a mix between PC and Playstation
I remember playing the mask and killing time on this console, best times ever
I just wanted to let everybody know on road rash of this version there is a glitch in every version of this game and final 5th level where it will erase your save and send you back to level 2 it's happened in the PlayStation 3DO and Saturn version that I've owned
Game typology is very cool, much closer and variate to the PC philosophy,, rather than copy + paste platform adventures from sega/nintendo. I remember hearing something about this console in 95 or 96 here in Spain but was hard to find any retailer to sell it and anyway price was prohibitive.
Way of the Warrior should be on this list... That game was amazing and had an epic soundtrack.
Where’s “Plumbers dont wear ties”? C’mon!!
I think it’s a cool game and movie
That was CDI. Noob!
@@Bembel81 i “played” it on 3do
I will say I'm surprised dragon slayer isn't on here it's the game that got me to get a 3DO.
Haven't played that game, thanks for the recommendation.
Oops Dragon's Lair my bad lol.
That game was revolutionary for it's time but it was a bit dated by the time the 3DO was out.
True but the Panasonic 3DO version is the closest port to the original arcade version on home console.
despacito
I love "Samurai Shodown" on the 3DO, but the Neo Geo CD port, while dealing with loading times, has the better audio quality and control scheme.
James Carlson the 3do version has the older files. The neo geo version was redone. that's why. its not a hardware issue, it's the port.
I prefer the original soundtrack since it is the one you get on Neogeo aes and mvs. Cd arranged soundtracks always felt fake to me
Love a bit of my 3DO. I own 3 😂
Nice video! I remember how great Alone In The Dark was the first time I played it and enjoyed it so much I completed the whole game! (Bear in mind I hardly finished whole games when I was a half pint, lol!) Definitely, one of those early Resident Evil inspirations I think!
Seeing Samurai Shodown graphics just made my jaw drop when I was jumping from the SNES/MD(GEN) era! 🤯😱
Also, jumping to 3DO SSF2 Turbo visuals! 🙀 (No bonus stage though and joypad not as good as the 16bit ones, but still suffice!) 👍
Star Control - awesome! First time played original on MD (GEN) and it blew me away gameplay wise! 3DO ver.doesn't disappoint! 👍
Other 2 honourable mentions for me would be Cannon Fodder and Syndicate! Amazing Amiga games on the 3DO! For anyone into imports I'd say check out, 'Yu Yu Hakusho', simple, but fun and nice looking fighting game based on the anime! Obviously, especially if your a fan of the anime you'd like it a lot more probably cause you know their signature moves and personalities!
Return Fire - 2 players! Awesome!
Demolition man was pretty cool too! Oh, The Horde!!! Many hours and days on that game! PC conversion I think it was! Just so good!
Also, must mention 'Way of the Warrior' - hahaha! Just joking! 💩
Bight a complete working 3do at a flea market for $10, Just need games. This system is so under rated, i dont understand why.
Think Killing Time should have easily made the top 10, but I guess it is all subjective! Hell was also another FMV rich game which was miles ahead of it’s time.
Battlesport was awesome on this console
03:45 the Atari Jag port of Wolfenstein 3D was waaaay better than the one on PC and 3DO
It is based on the Mac version which is a different game almost as far as assets go. I prefer the original on Pc ( and 3do is the best port of the original )
I can see why we havent seen deejay in any future street fighter games.
I had no idea this console existed.
I now need a 3do and atari jaguar in my collection
The 3DO Will definitely make a worthy addition to your console collection.
I have both consoles in my stash.
@@HermaphroGynandro lucky you!
Thank you for the good old memories...! However, I would have mentioned these: Immercenary, PO'ed, Total Eclipse, Battlesport etc.
Mario Rossi Your welcome, I haven't played those games sadly thanks for the recommendations and thanks for watching :)
Po’d was fun
DJCJ it was such a weird game lol
You has a 3 do you had realy have money to blow I don’t know anyone to have this console
It's a great game selection but it is a bit sad when you realize that most of those games are ports from other systems. Only The Need of Speed, Gex and Road Rash appeared first on 3DO but those games appeared in other systems too in less than a year.
Being an open was actually a weakness for the 3DO, no major gaming company made exclusive games for it nor secured exclusivities from other companies as happened with Nintendo or Sony.
Anybody that grew up with a 3DO must’ve had parents who own their own country.
The definitive version of Samurai Shodown is the NEO GEO AES version.
We owned the "Goldstar" 3DO for awhile, before graduating to the original PlayStation.
We played GEX, as well as: MYST, Madden NFL, Foes of Ali, Shock Wave, etc.
Gex is awesome he also had some decent sequels on the Playstation
No way of the warrior. Kidding. But I really loved this game back then.
Loved that black ninja on way of the warrior
Honourable mention to Twister. It was such a fun game in that time
Of the 14 games shown, only 4 were actual 3DO games..... 2 of which were left in honorable mentions. All the rest are just ports. The 3DO did have some great original games:
Slayer, Shockwave, lucienne's Quest, D, The Horde and Crash'n Burn come to mind.
Many were first released on 3DO, then ported and improved on other platforms.
If the 3DO had just a little more power than what it did, it would had more possibilities to stay longer in the market and because of that more games would had been done for it.
Possibly but I think the major killer of the system was it's extremely high price.
Street fighter looked fire on 3do. Damn man
Street fighter on 3DO was indeed a good port but far from arcade perfect.
Nico Toscani The 3DO port was the closest to an arcade version at the time.
@@thegreatmightyd the 3DO port never had a 6 button controller making it a virtual chore to play.... not to mention the load times
@@darrendavenport3334 Yes it did....It had an official Capcom controller created for the darn thing. You can look that up anywhere...I owned one. It stood vertically on the left side with the d-pad, then spread out horizontally with 6 face buttons on the right side. Played perfectly for SSFII Turbo.
And yes, this was the best home version of the game by a long shot.
@@corey2232 It also other 3rd party 6 button pads and an adapter that allowd you to use snes controllers. Pretty neat!
@@MrHappyNappy That's awesome, I didn't know that one.
Shockwave???very good game.Goldstar 3DO The best.
Where's The Horde? Way of the Warrior? Daedalus Encounter? Those were some great games.
My favorite was Captain Quazar, Gex, Balls and... somthing else, but don't remember, it was so many years ago. But it was so great...
Gex is awesome he also had some decent sequels on the PS1.
wizzgamer
yes, but first time was the greatest one, Gex on 3do had some... magic, I think)
i loved my 3do i got it wail it wasn't super new but still state of the art for a bit NFS Street fighter showdown samurai the chopper games where my main games
i loved it i remeber seeing it at the mal asa kid and they let me play it at eb store i forget what ti was called and theni think i went to the the ps1
wolfenstein PC version of the video, not with the Panasonic 3DO !!
yes and they showed the windows version of theme park too lmao.. sloppy.
Agreed. At least I can confirm they had the 3DO version of street fighter. You can tell by the fact that the backgrounds don't have any parallax scrolling and by the CD quality music. Although it's in widescreen and therefore clearly on an emulator.
pjohnston wow so many smart people who are filled with useless info.
As opposed to you, a complete moron filled with useless info?
Also The need for speed version shown here are the pc and Playstation versions, that's a real issue because the 3DO version was the first a VERY different and unique than all the versions that came after.
Seeing how far we have come now with gaming the question
I ask is this game now beta with issues or is it a rock solid game with no hot fixes or patches back in the day a gaming company would not dare send out a port in beta now its done all the time with phone apps etc. it just makes me happy that these games existed and are now still being played.
"Road Rash - A great remake of the original classic." I thought the 3DO one WAS the original classic, with the others being various ports & remakes of the 3DO game? Guess I'm confused...
The first Road Rash was a Megadrive/Genesis game that was ported to other systems, 3DO got that great remake that also was ported to other systems.
@@Hektols ohh no it came way way later than the genesis version
I had 3do and was a shame, the games i really enjoy in this moment so far away, was Ultraman, Road Rash 7:37 - becouse have yet, the best soundtrack ever, strahl and Dragon´s lair. Samurai shadown and Street fighter only had the sound quality diferencie, but the loading..ohhhh myyyy goddddddddddd. Way of the warrior ...w fck was that....rs ====> nice video man
Gex was such a nice game
Im searching a name of a 3-DO game, the game came out with the console its a space shooting game. As a kid i wanted to have one, but decided to get a ps1.
It's a good list, but sad to see Starfighter didn't at least get an honorable mention. :-)
NeoGeo games excelled on this console.
I want to play on a 3DO
These are great games
Gex and Road Rash are the best !!
00:27 Maybe this game was way ahead of its time
My favorite star control 2,lethal enforcers and quarantine
Need for Speed and Road Rash... The best!
I rarely see Immercenary on 3DO lists of any kind, even videos that are just giving large samples of games available. Almost no one seems to have even heard of it.
I AM FROM COLOMBIA I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY WITH THIS CONSOLE AND DURING THE TIME I WAS PLAYING I LOOKED FUN THE GEX GAME, NEED FOR SPEED, AND SAMURAI SHOWDOWN, AND SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO, AND NO NAME BECAUSE I DON'T PRESENT THEM ENJOY WITH THESE GAMES THANKS TO THAT CONSOLE
@@pedrooscarbh AQUI EN COLOMBIA SE BIERON MUCHO PUES YO LA TENGO EL 2600 ATARI EL FAMILI SEGA SUPER NINTENDO EN ESE TIEMPO
I miss the games Hell, way of the Warrior, it was a basketball game that the courts changed was great, also madden was great on 3do
Are any of these games actually ''Panasonic'' 3DO games? I believe they where all released by other publishers and the console is not exclusives to Panasonic either, nor was it their venture.
@bob morane not true they made 3 dollars off every game unit. But that is still very inexpensive for the other developers and the other developers had to use a 3do logo as well.
Yeah, this video is full of errors.
SUPREME WARRIOR was the baddest-ass game on 3DO, and Road Rash was just as great!
Road Rash is one of my favourite series although I prefer the Mega Drive games over the 3DO.
Black Death 1347 ... Wasn't Supreme Warrior a video based FMV game? Pretty sure I have it for my Sega 32x, gotta have the Sega CD attached to play it though.
Yes, it was, and the coolest FMV game I've played or seen by far.
I would also add Lucienne's Quest, Starfighter, & Slayer (DnD). Shockwave series as an honorable mention. But a solid list, all the same.
Syndicate was an awesome game too.
PO'd was the best game I came across on the 3DO.
Streetfighter 2 looked good.
Just came to make sure Star Control 2 was on here.
That SSFIIT is perfect!
i wanted it but $700 is a little bit out of my price range
Battle sports. Wing commander. Captain quasar. These were the top 3 games on the 3do. No mention?
No Wing Commander lll ..?
I remember in 94 buying the 3DO specifically for "Samurai shodown" and "Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo" and mad props for mentioning "policenauts" I noticed the text was an English did you get a translated burn, or was there ever an American version¿? plus I'm surprised you didn't mention "D"? anything by warp is awesome!!¡! Rest in peace Kenji Eno!🎹🎧💫💀😵👌😔🙏✋✌
2:47 This is sooooo awesome!
My personal top 10 would go like this. (#1 Star Control II) (#2 R&T's NFS) (#3 The Horde) (#4 SSF II Grand Master X) (#5 Psychic Detective) (#6 Gex) (#7 Road Rash) (#8 Return Fire) (#9 Lucienne's Quest) (#10 Shinghai Triple Threat)
Honourable mentions: (Icebreaker 1+2) (Lemmings) (Incredible Machine) (Twisted - The Game Show) (Zahdnost - The People's Party)
Good picks :)
Pha Q Like your choices :)
Plus add wing commander 3 and starfighter
BladeForce should be on that list
Hang on.. This console was $700USD at launch..?
That's like paying $1200 today for a console that can do what the first versions of the XBox One or PS4 can.
I can't imagine that this sold well at all.
KingNothingIII it didn't. I only ever played one at sears on display
It dropped to around $300 shortly after.
Not really because it came out before the PlayStation hit . Then it dropped its price . It was an excellent console it was just squashed by the ps1 less than a year after it was released
That Samurai Showdown game looks fucking incredible.
I spent many quarters on SNK machines and Samurai Shodown was my go to game. It made a big impact on my young teenage mind and I have never forgotten. I actually had a 3D0 and it had a almost arcade perfect port of SS. Load times where really bad and if I remember right either sound effects or music was missing but could be wrong it's been some time lol.
The Need for Speed doesn't look too bad. Not too far behind the Saturn and PS1 versions.
EDIT: Comments say it's on emulator... lol. Nevermind. Kappa
While i admire that the creator is spreading the word on one of my favorite and most under rated consoles ever, the 3DO. But after watching the video i have to call into question weather they have actually even played a 3DO. Some of the games on the list are odd, most of the games on the list are just games that were on every other console at the time, no exclusive titles met your fancy? But ill leave that to personal preference and tastes. But for a lot of the games on your list, you don't even show footage of the actual 3DO versions of the game. Wolf3D, you showed the old PC version, not the far far superior 3DO version, that had way better graphics, and an original and amazing soundtrack. Need For Speed, you showed footage of the much faster playing PS1 version, not the original 3DO version. So thanks for spreading the word on the 3DO, and i gave you a thumbs up, but something tells me you have never owned or actually played one.
Never heard of this console until now. Was it that bad? I thought it was all about SNES and Sega Genesis back then
it was really expensive
Better than Atari Jaguar for sure
Immercenary was one of the best games on the 3do
Gex should be number 1, best game ever is there on top tier with super Mario
I'm surprise Wing Commander, Killing Time, and Shockwave aren't in the list...
