There's nothing safe about this act; you just gave every criminal in Illinois a list of everything they can get away with.
This is stupid.
Keep in mind that Illinois ranked 8th in the nation for having the strictest gun control laws.
They're passing gun laws that they're not going to arrest criminals for and then they'll turn around and say we need more gun laws to keep Law Abiding Citizens safe from the criminals their not going to even arrest.
This law is literally a bat symbol to criminals, telling them they can do whatever they want and not go to jail.
This is same state where 55 people were shot and 11 killed in Chicago alone over the labor day weekend.
Like I keep saying, this is not about safety; it's about control.

I live in Illinois and I am an ex felon who has served my time and found a way out of the life of crime. But unfortunately with politicians in this state passing stupid acts like this I fear that going back to that criminal mindstate is the only way to be safe around here. I've heard several police officers also state that this is "the Purge act" and to be locked and loaded for when it takes affect. Crazy world we live in.

I don't know how, at this point, normal people wouldn't sympathize with the choice German people had to make in the '30s. We're going through the same thing right now. Bolshevism and its evils just won't die so long as it has a safe harbor, and in the '30s and '40s it was Britain, USA, Canada etc., and we're feeling the consequences of it. So according to a chart I saw listed these charges: you could break into an official's home, steal from it and them, burn down their house, force them to another location and beat them and then make them OD on fentanyl, and then run from the cops in a vehicle while drunk and run over a few pedestrians, and the cops would be forced to release you and without bail.

I'm a retired LEO from NJ and moved to Georgia when I retired. We have open carry. Back in NJ retired cops have to qualify twice a year and pay for a carry permit. To top it off they cant carry hollowpoints.
I’m in California and we have had a no cash bail for the past two years. This allows crime to skyrocket because there is no immediate consequences.
Eliminating cash bail was supposed to make it so you can't buy your way out of jail, (i.e. celebrities and other rich people) holding people with money accountable to the same standard as people who don't. It wasn't supposed to mean you just let everyone go. The whole purpose of arresting people is to stop them from disrupting the rest of society.
I hate this half-assed approach politicians take to everything. They pass this shit as some sort of symbolic victory then the aftermath creates an even worse problem than before.

As someone who recently fled Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL… I can assure you even the “nicest” neighborhoods have become exponentially more violent since 2018. You pay a premium to live there, but the violent criminals come on the red line train to mug people they know will have money on them. Early morning car jackings are common, women being targeting and mugged is common, homeless folks stabbing people walking on the sidewalk is more common than you’d think. It’s truly a hellscape, but don’t worry… Mayor Beetlejuice has it under control! 🤡🤡🤡

Here’s the thing though. We have a right to due process. Keeping people in jail before they have been judged in court is essentially guilty until proven innocent, which is unconstitutional. Not everyone that gets arrested actually committed the crime. There are numerous occasions where women have accused men of rape and they had to sit in jail for nine months to two years for trial only to be found innocent. All bail does is keep poor people in jail and allows top their criminals to go free like mob bosses and drug lords which are the people that usally order the most violent crimes to be committed

Sadly I live in IL. I have my CCL that I need to renew in Dec. There's nothing safe about this law. If some trespasses on my property and I call the police, the only thing they can do is give them a ticket. They won't remove them even if I want them to. If I have to remove them myself by force, I'll be the one that then gets in trouble. This law was passed overnight, in less than an hour without even being read because it was over several hundred pages.

Some years ago in Baltimore City the taxi cab drivers were being targeted by armed robbers who shot many of their victims for no reason. However, the city's police officers were so under payed, like most police officers at that time, that they had to work part time jobs. One of the approved secondary employment jobs was cab driver. The City's officers were authorized to be armed while off duty, even while working most part time jobs. After some cab robberies where the victim cab driver was an armed off duty cop who defended himself with deadly force, the cab robberies became almost non-existent. Born and raised in Chicago. I can tell you that the city alone has been falling more and more every year. I can't open as gun sure to as dumb choice I made when I was 19. But my fiancee had a foid card that was lost and she has been trying to get a new one and it has been two years. She can't go but a fun until she gets her new card but Illinois seems like they just aren't going to give her her card back to the point where we are about to hire a lawyer to go after who ever for preventing her from getting her card back.
It’s sad but true. Once you lose your FOID car or get it confiscated by the state, and you’re not convicted of a crime, you will not get your card back. This is done on purpose. My husband and I packed our shit and moved out family to Florida 3 years ago for this very reason. They are deliberately unarming law abiding citizens every way they can!
This is what happens when you basically have a 1 party rule, and there's absolutely nothing you can do to vote them out of office.

I would go as far as to say, If; during the act of a crime, a criminal is shot or caused serious bodily harm, a criminal, shall not be allowed to file civil suit against a law abiding citizen, that was within their RIGHT to do so. During criminal preceding if it was found that the individual acted in self-defense, defense of others, or prevention of grievous bodily harm. Civil suit would not be allowed end of story. it would have to be appealed.

As someone who’s worked in the criminal justice system, I can tell you that many who are arrested, if they do not have income, pay little to no bail. There are programs, there are waivers, and a Cash system is the best to assure that the criminal who is released will return to court. Dangerous criminals should never be released on bail

When you've been locking people up for generations for non violent drug offenses what did you expect would eventually happen? As a residence of cook county, this is the craziest act I’ve ever seen. Pretty much everyone I know is stocking up on guns and ammo. this has literally been happening in the school district I left for years. they stopped suspending kids even for really bad stuff like assaulting a teacher or harassing students among other things. glad I left
same with my mom. not only were students not being punished for being violent, the security guards simply stopped responding to calls from teachers about violent kids.
25 year career, she just walked out one day. no goodbyes, no retirement party, no nothing, just gone because it had become so unsafe so suddenly. it messed her up for a long time.
