Im glad they said FFV. Really enoyed the job/class system in it. Also just generally like the fact that you stayed with the main cast pretty much then constantly switch characters out you might not really use. Plus this game originally had Gilgamesh. Thats cool with the job system in FFV inspired some of the gameplay in FFXVI for its own ability system.
Keep in mind these guys are a bit older, and the older titles may have came at a time they were more impressionable. Just like how most westerners first JRPG was 7, therefore it was their favorite.
7 was the game that made the franchise and JRPG, in general, well-known outside of Japan. Millions of us in the West experienced JRPG or “story game” for the first time through FF7, and this is why it's so beloved and considered to be a landmark in video game history.

Lol, happy someone really liked FF3. Just a calm game to play during crazy times, with a combat system that, as simple as it was and as simple the class system was, always felt rewarding the more you explored random places or leveled jobs, or tried new combinations of jobs, etc.

Honestly 12, tactics understand, clearly 3 was based on childhood nostalgy (not saying it's a bad game). 10 have a hard time to understand how can rank so high as it is extremely linear... Just glad nobody mentioned 13

FFX was my first final fantasy and still remains my favorite it really introduced me into the art of story telling.

Kinda shows how 7 is generally consider the best by mostly the West, but in Japan it's the old S/NES ones that are thought of as best.
