One thing I never hear people say about this movie is how nice Shrek is in this one. He’s pretty accepting of Puss, even letting him ride on his shoulder, and when he, Puss, and Donkey are hiding out in the old mill before the potion takes over, there’s a scene where Shrek pets Donkey. Nobody says anything, but it’s really sweet. He’s starting to realize how many people are against him and Fiona, but maybe he’s realizing he still has his friends like Donkey.
I can’t imagine him doing these things in the first or third one, and it just stuck out to me when I watched it again.

Shrek The Third wasn’t bad it’s just the bar was set so high by Shrek 2 it was going to be very difficult for them to match it and it fell short by a big margin. Shrek Forever After however was absolutely awful and a terrible end to a great movie franchise

did you know? all of the water effects in this movie had to be rendered separately then composited back in to the main shots to save on rendering time. The process was rather labor-intensive, so it was mostly left to the interns. This weekly chore was nicknamed "Blue Harvest" which also happened to be the working title of Star Wars
