I could really go for a 30 minute smash bros comedy skit by Nintendo where the joke is how different everything is and how nothing fits.
Reminds me of how half the lines in the Snapcube dub is either:
“I’m not supposed to even be here”
“I NEED TO GET HOME AND WACK OFF”
Imagine trying to make a story where Isabelle, Ridley, Pikachu, and Wario cohesively fit in together
Kind of Like Wooden Plank Studios' comics.
@@grayanddevpdxWARIOOO IM GONNA WIN ‼️‼️‼️‼️
just watch if smash bros was realistic
I swear to god not everything needs to be a cinematic universe
"I swear to god not everything needs to be a cinematic universe" cinematic universe when
The algorithm requires engagement.
But it would be cool if it was
This does tbh
@@KiiBon fastest reply ever lol. But no seriously it doesn’t, why do people think Smash would work as a film
"I NEED a smash bros cinematic universe" MFs when they hear that they will need to sit through 15 fire emblem films to understand the story.
Why does the smash movie need lore involved. Literally just do the "portals opened in different universes" thing, ignore each individual characters lore, and have them work toward defeating a common threat. While getting used to coexisting with a bunch of weirdos.
@@mr.mcklockwork3828 That would suck.
@@mr.mcklockwork3828 that would be a very shitty movie
@@victorford5047 Well its not like they would give enough of a shit to make a movie that incoporates all the lore of each franchise. I know that would suck, im just thinking in terms of what would probably be done.
@@victorford5047 IDEALLY every character has a pivotal role, is 100% lore accurate and they come up with a reason for all of them to exist in the same universe without breaking any continuity, its heartfelt, exciting and action packed and the villain is Master Hand but with a cool personality/motivation or somethin like that.
But we're never getting that movie.
Takeaways:
- don’t make a Smash movie
- Holy shit please make a Luigi’s Mansion movie
Tbh I say splatoon is probably the most feasible Nintendo ip for illumination to make a movie out of. I mean splatoon looks cartoony sings pop songs (like in SING but in Inklish), and fricken Sheldon basically looks like a skinnier minion.
@@Mario123007 fair, I couldn’t say really,, I don’t know that much about splatoon. I just like Luigi and I LOVE Charlie day 🤣
@@bwahhhhhhhh splatoon is basically Nintendo's own shooting game, it's colorful, has many pop culture reference, pretty decent lore, so I think illumination tackling on a splatoon movie is not a bad idea. Also btw, splatoon is the number 1 vg that Japanese gamers hope to have an anime.
Mark Hamill as King Boo would be perfect casting. Especially if he talks in his Joker Voice with a ghostly filter.
And they should make a Star Fox anime show based in the 64 timeline.
I want a cute childlike Kirby series but only the ending is just batshit horrifying
The first 3 quarters be a happy fun pg movie where everyone watching is wondering why it's rated R only to die of shock once that 4th quarter starts
Now THIS I would watch
That’d be absolutely hilarious
Well, Dreamworks does have Rodrigo Blaas. He could pull that off.
@Eddy9871 "This movie's pretty good, why is it rated R though- DEAR GOD WHAT IS THAT"
The Mario franchise is so utterly gigantic that you could make 5 other spin-off movie franchises alongside the main Mario movie franchise.
Yoshi
Wario
Luigi's mansion
DK country
Captain Toad
those are the easy ones just using the mainstream Mario characters and all already introduced (except Wario) in the movie
That's not counting punch out (which seems canon in-universe) or wrecking crew (kinda curious of what a wrecking crew movie would be like, but we had Spike)
@@diersteinjulien6773 Wario’s movie could be a buddy comedy with him and Waluigi about them trying to get an ancient treasure
@@IcyDiamond simple plot for a Wario movie:
Wario and Waluigi work for wrecking crew (allows you to reuse Spike)
They get contracted by the Mushroom Kingdom to clear up some ruins (they get a recommendation from Mario because the princess asked the Mario brothers and it's not a job for them or the Toads)
Ruins turn out to be treasure-laden and it turns into a treasure hunt.
Include hijinks, pirates, a few cameos from warioware characters
Give Waluigi some nice screentime, he deserves it
Boom, success
@@diersteinjulien6773 Yeah that’d work pretty nicely, just a simple fun plot of Wario and Waluigi trying to find a cool treasure
Wario could be introduced in a mario movie sequel as a villain, gets his standalone movie where he's an adventurer/treasure hunter, like the actual transition from Mario Land 2 to Wario Land 1.
I think the transition of him being a treasure hunter to a washed up videogame company CEO could work (Wario Land to WarioWare), but i'm not sure how much
Actually, a Stop motion Pikmin movie made by Aardam wouldn't be a bad idea.
Indeed
Personally, I think if they made a pikmin movie it should be done in a similar style to Marcel the Shell.
I would love if it didn't have any voices like they did with shawn the sheep. I would also like if they made it harm warming at the end where olimar gets to see his family
Pikmin screams Studio Ghibli to me but both would be great
Aardman is an S tier studio, they'd nail that shit.
The tonal differences of these franchises would definitely make it more difficult. Imagine Chrom Fire Emblem says something like “my older sister died” and then Kirby is just like “POYO”. Heck in Smash itself the characters don’t really say much
Mario: WAHOO, LETS-A-GO
I dunno, Japan always gets a kick out of tonal whiplashes like that. At least THEY will enjoy it.
They played that for laughs in Wreck-It Ralph 🤷🏽 it's been done before
What's funny is that Chrom is kind of a dork sometimes, remember the little "Chromgratulations" scene?
you just explained exactly why it would be awesome
I've always appreciated the fact that Smash Bros.'s actual story is that it's just a kid smashing action figures together to make them fight. That truly is the best justification you can have for that kind of game.
like in the lego movie!
I think a smash bros film could potentially work like that, where the point of the movie is mainly just cool character interactions and sick fights without much need for setup. I understand and hard agree with Schaff's argument about how there shouldn't be an NCU, but I feel like he missed the point that you really don't need one for a Smash Bros movie, nor do you need that much setup for it. I think most people would accept it taking place in some non-canon inbetween world like in Subspace without worrying too much about it. Not saying such a film such necessarily be made - the other problems the list are still completely valid, but I don't think the film hinging on an ncu is one of them.
They could make it Toy Story l-like. Id watch that. Didnt give 2 shits about the Mario movie.
I think the premise of Smash Bros with the characters being toys is far more appealing than people give it credit for. It opens the door for ANYONE, being the kid who puts these toys together. Not just Sakarai or Andy from Toy Story, but ANYONE can be Master and Crazy Hand.
Toy Story like smash bros flim would literally only work and it will be noncannon
Kirby can work, if the first part of the film is insanely kid friendly, then the second part scalates to an action packed adventure and the third act is pure Lovecraftian horror.
'Aw sweet! Eldritch horrors beyond my comprehension!'
i refuse to see a kirby movie done by illumination
And the very last part of the movie everything went back to normal like nothing happened
I refuse to think of a movie where kirby is voiced by Chris Pratt
yes
can you imagine illumination portraying war crimes and exploring the intricacies and pitfalls of a magical aristocratic society in a Fire Emblem Three Houses movie
I can ruclips.net/video/-qvDuj0uuug/видео.html
No
I think Fates would be much funnier in my opinion lol. Since we all know that Schaff hates both that game and Illumination, it’d be a real treat to see him rip it apart.
Er mm
@@amyvasquez4268even funnier if it’s a legitimate masterpiece
As Viridi said,
"This game universe and that game universe have NOTHING to do with each other!”
Viridi was ahead of her time.
A Zelda movie done by studio Ghibli is never going to happen, but I can dream
Lmao it would be so good but yeah it won’t happen
Well if I recalled Nintendo was going to start their own movie production company so the team ups will likely be ending here, they said they were going to learn the ins and outs of production from the making of Mario and do it themselves for the rest of their franchises.

Gosh, i feel ya
Here before this comment correctly predicts the future
“Subspace Dubbed Over” is already the perfect Smash Movie

and
WAAARIO
I GOTTA WIINNNN
for 57 minutes and i love it
"I need to go home and WACK OFF!"
For an April Fools video, I honestly thought it was funnier then the Shadow The Hedgehog dub
A super smash bros movie is like if the Lego movie wasn’t about legos and claimed that dumbledore, Gandalf, the Justice league, the Star Wars characters, and the TMNT were all in the same universe and interacting with each other
Another issue is that there are now so many characters in Smash. If you have too many characters in a movie, then you will have people complaining that their favorites didn’t get a lot of screen time or character development, and it will be hard to give each character a decent amount of screen time. Plus, if they only decide to include certain characters to reduce the cast size and make it easier to create a better film storywise, then people will be complaining that their favorite characters are being excluded. Either way, it’s a lose-lose situation.
But I WOULD like a Banjo Kazooie movie, or even just another game. Or anything, really.
@@Potatezone I think a Banjo and Kazooie movie would be cool, but in my opinion, I just don’t see how they could make a Smash film that won’t leave anybody even slightly disappointed. I do want to see another smash game, though
@@Potatezone though I love this idea, I feel like the CGI will look ugly using the Nuts & Bolts redesing instead of the SSB current desings
To be fair, Smash 64 only started with a roster of 12 fighters.
A Smash movie would just start off with like...6 fighters. Similar to how the 1st Avengers was just Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.
@@retloclive9118 If they were to make a Smash movie, then yeah, there’s a good chance that they would probably do that. However, they would have to pick which characters would make it into the film, and if they don’t pick certain characters that some of the fans love to play as, then again, some people will end up being a little disappointed.
If they made a TV show, though, then they could probably get away with adding more characters. That said, I think that Smash would benefit more from a TV show adaptation than it would a film adaptation.
Kirby has a subtle eldritch horror that illumination could never replicate
Could DreamWorks, though?
@@ZoobiethePopplioWell, considering that Dreamworks does have 2d animated movies, i guess they could pull off with that, though i do think some other studio should be on the hands of a Kirby movie.
Actually so does Splatoon. It only looks childish, it’s actually really spine chilling.
You mean Kirby himself, right?
@@kshuffles Not really? I played all of the Splatoon story modes and it's about as "spine chilling" as any New Super Mario Bros game. That said, I still enjoyed it, but not everything needs to be subtly horrific.
An Earthbound movie by Laika would literally make western civilization implode
Someone gets it😮💨
Cartoon Saloon could be a great choice as well
Or it would bomb because it doesn’t have the broad appeal of Mario. The latter made a billion $ because it came with a generation-spanning IP. The same can’t be said for Earthbound sadly , no matter how good the animation studio attached to it.
@@FilonisHat it’s still a solid story, the ability to experience it would be increased by a movie or series. It would be award winning.
@@FilonisHat They don’t have to play up the fact it’s based on a game like with Mario. With good advertising that mainly focuses on the characters and story and not “OMG IT’S BASED ON A NINTENDO GAME!” I think it really could do well!!
Another reason why a Mario Cinematic Universe would be better than a Nintendo Cinematic Universe would be because it gives a lot of obscure and forgotten characters from the Mario franchise a chance to come back in a new medium, like Geno for example!
Plus, if you count RareWare’s N64 characters who made an early debut in Diddy Kong Racing, then Banjo and Conker could also contribute material for a Mario Cinematic Universe. The studios in charge would just need to strike a deal with Microsoft, who now currently owns those characters.
Granted, an adaptation of the Banjo-Kazooie games would be much easier to market as an extension of the Mario Cinematic Universe than an adaptation of “Conker’s Bad Fur Day”. The latter would need to have an R-rating like the Deadpool movies to be faithful, while a Mario Cinematic Universe is otherwise universally geared to be family friendly, more so than the Fox X-Men films. So in order for a Conker movie to work, the mainstream marketing would likely need to distance Conker from the Mario/D.K./Wario/Banjo films, but then maybe catch the theater audience off guard with surprise/hidden references and cameos linking the two properties.
@@markcobuzzi826 Don't do that, don't give me hope.
Wouldn't they need to get in touch with Square Enix as well for Geno specifically?
geno wont return. geno was gone long ago
This! I don’t want a NCU I feel like it should just stick to Mario.
The entire premise of Smash Bros is just the opening scene of Toy Story 3 stretched to 5 games.
Honestly, my first thought after finishing the Mario movie was “I hope they do a Luigi’s Mansion movie”. It wasn’t “I hope they do a Smash Bros movie”. Mario is big enough as is and you can make so much from this one franchise
its illumination, they're gonna find a way to make it inoffensive and hollow, although a laika zelda movie would be sick (as someone who has never played a zelda game)
My first thought was "I hope Illumination stops making movies".
@@yololthepikminenjoyer play botw man irs so good!!
mario galaxy would be beautiful
Even the second Mario Movie… I’m expecting an adaptation of Super Mario World… the best 2D Mario game :)
It's simple: People don't want movies for the interesting plots, messages or style; people just want to see the products they recognize from their childhood in another medium just because. Now, imagine a buch of products sharing screentime toguether, that's a money printer if I ever saw one.
You mean The Emoji Movie?
But I want to clap when I see it!!!
People gets exited when they see their favorite character on the big screen, but then people starts criticize the product for the story and plot and what the characters do in the movie/show
And that sort of nostalgia pandering is why media like Ready Player One gets absolutely clowned on, so I really don't get why people gun for it so hard bc even if they did make a Smash Bros movie, all the complaints would just be how *their* favourite character was mischaracterized/underutilized anyway
You mean Marvel movies?
The idea of a Smash Bros movie is one of those things that sounds like the coolest shit ever when you’re a kid but progressively gets more flawed and impossible the more you actually think about it as an adult.
Can you imagine if Illumination made a Fire Emblem movie? God damn that would be a mess...
Now you have me morbidly curious. Ryan Reynolds as Marth?
Imagine if it’s Fates and…
- It’s done in the art style of Despicable Me and the Lorax
- There are now many potty jokes, including farting
- The dragon and beast forms of all shapeshifters (including Corrin) act like Minions, complete with babbling
- Azura sings already existing oversaturated generic pop songs
- The story has no changes, but it makes sense because it’s already awful to begin with
It would be the most epic dumpster fire imaginable. I’d love it!
that would be awesome
please illumination make a fire emblem movie
Illumination Moonlight: allow us to introduce ourselves
Let's give Fire Emblem to the studio that made Morbius
The Mario universe is pretty much as expansive as the MCU. Making a Smash Bros movie would be more similar to shoving Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Spongebob, LOTR, Mickey Mouse, Forest Gump, and Despicable Me into a movie together than just making a "new MCU".
“The scene where Batman, Jar Jar Binks, Squidward, Donald Duck, Gandalf, Lieutenant Dan, and Vector all sacrificed themselves to stop Kang The Conquerer was iconic.”

Yes I agree imagine giygas
I also agree that that should happen (And I should be in it,too : D)
I agree would be a great idea lets get Itoi to make it and include moonside of course
That would be awesome! I was thinking more a film trilogy with the 3 games being slightly modified. I remember seeing some old clips where they did promotional media live action and had the proper acoustic versions of the songs and it looked so cool! I'm not sure if they'd go animated or live action with CGI effects, but I could see either working. I haven't seen Stranger Things, only clips and pics, but that kind of aesthetic would be really neat to see with EarthBound.
Splatoon already has their own manga, it would be fun to get a TV show, slice of life, with the idols or the agents to get more depth to their character (tho most likely not the agents cuz that means giving them semi canon genders or appearances.) It would be fun seeing an animated show featuring the idols in a similar way as Sonic Boom (the show) or it could just be an animated version of the manga, or its own show with it's own splatoon characters
Isn't the Splattoon manga the gayest thing ever?

my god, a full kid icarus show would be peak human accomplishment.
Omg same. When I said I would love to see it once, someone was like “it wouldn’t do well at all because at this point no one plays the games anymore”. But honestly… they COULD advertise it as just a whole new series, and not play up the fact it’s based on a Nintendo game, that’s how I think it could potentially be successful :)
Imagine a Zelda movie made by Studio Ghibli, that would actually be best picture material
Actually yes
Indeed
I was actually thinking that Nintendo will might probably move on to the DreamWorks Studio?
Beat me to the idea. But yea. I feel like they would best handle the franchises tone.
I mean BOTW was already 70% Ghibli already! Imagine what actual studio Ghibli could do with the franchise if they got their hands on it
“Cartoon Saloon Zelda movie” is such an amazing concept I’m furious that there’s no way it’d ever happen
what about a zelda anime?
That would be cool and I think that studio could do amazing with Earthbound too
I'd sort of be skeptical mainly because I know Cartoon Saloon for films not connected to massive IPs. Though Zelda does have all the aesthetics that fit Cartoon Saloon's brand, the worldbuilding and universe is way larger than The Secret of Kells, Song of the Seas and Wolfwalkers (which encorporate Irish folklore) or The Breadwinner (which is set in real life Taliban-ruled Afghanistan) combined.
Then again, they did make a short for Star Wars: Visions which proves that they can at least work with a massive IP.
Instead of adapting Smash Brothers to cinema, I think it would do much better as a TV show with a nonlinear narrative. That way, each episode can focus on a few different characters at a time instead of cramming a whole bunch of characters in an hour and a half long movie. It would be somewhat cluttered for sure, but nowhere near as extravagant as it'd be in cinema.
Me personally we could have like 10 episodes introducing the characters then have them go in an arena and have a 1v1 tournament and have their be a prize so they have the incentive to fight each other and have like 50 fights per episode and each episode be around an hour then have the later episodes have less fights so It will be over in like 75 episodes
@@imightupload536850 fights per episode? Jesus Christ, that's a lot. Not only would the pacing be awful (that's 50 1-minute fights for your 1 hour episodes), but also, why do they have to fight in a tournament? I guess it's your Idea, which is fair, but I'm just not sure how well it would work.
A Kirby movie would work honestly. A cute movie with a dark tone.
And live action, with Kirby played by Sylvester Stallone painted pink
“I’m Kirby, the cute pink mute ball that swallows dark matter entities and eats innocent beings to absorb their talents!”
@@VTWSActually, Stallone would work well as an animated Meta Knight. All u need to do is to put on an accent for it and u are good
Just as long as King Dedede keeps his snazzy louisiana voice from the Anime, this Kirby movie would be perfect. That kind of voice is just irreplaceable.
A Zelda movie needs to be handled by people who can make good animation and a well-written plot inspired by the games, I don’t exactly know if Illumination is capable of doing this
I think dreamworks is a good realistic company to do a zelda film as they are owned by the same people as illumination
@@winternoodles2338 What?
Exactly, illumination was an okay enough choice for a fan service Easter egg movie that's light on plot, but a movie with a serious tone and actual story? Nah, Illumination would not be capable of that.
You can just say Genndy Tartakovsky
@@MrBluelightzero I want this now.
Mario and Peach and everyone looked like their characters. But they still had this Illumination look to their faces.
I was thinking that Nintendo could just get different animation studios from both America and Japan to animate movie or show adaptations of their games. They once got the Demon Slayer animation studio to animate cutscenes for one of their games, so it wouldn’t be too far fetched.
I think I get what you mean but I see it differently. Like, I swear I can never watch Mario's movie design without seeing Chris Pratt in it.
I have no idea what that even means. This video isn’t even about just dissing the Mario movie, it’s about literally stating why a Smash Bros movie wouldn’t be a good idea so I have no idea why you felt the need to comment this.
Peach kinda looks like Lucy from Despicable Me ngl
Especially the dog he looks right out off secret life of pets and also up
I would rather it be a series than a movie, so all the characters can have their own spot and time in the series rather than being regulated to cameos
I was thinking of a comedic Smash show in the a la Carnival Phantasm. Of course it wouldn’t be canon and the characters would be toys like in Smash, but rather than fighting, they would go to various locations from their games (which are just setpieces now), crack jokes about their franchises, and have fun together. I’d like that!

Imagine if people started asking for Pokémon movies even though we already have about 25
A Pokémon Movie Would Be So Cool
@betternick2424 if you want a Pokémon movie, just watch Detective Pikachu or one of the 8 billion movies based off of the Pokémon anime
Yeah, there's a total of 23 animated films that are based on the anime series (plus the fact that we have two versions of Movie 14 due to there being a Black version and a White version of the film), Detective Pikachu, that terrible The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon TV special, and that pretty decent Mewtwo Returns TV Special that definitely feels like a movie more than a TV episode since it's over an hour long without commercial breaks. And then there are a TON of short films that are grouped with most of the earlier films as well as that Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Origin that was with Mewtwo Return's home release. There's also that Raikou: The Legend of Thunder series of episodes from Chronicles, but that story is technically 3 continuous episodes combined into one. But yeah, Pokémon is super stacked with films already.
I still really enjoy the films from the original series (Mewtwo thru Manaphy) a bunch (I haven't seen much of the films after that since I stopped watching the show after Diamond and Pearl). The Lugia and Entei films are still pretty enjoyable to watch IMO.

“Why can’t a movie be a movie anymore?” You have no idea how much I felt that. I love the MCU but the impact it did made people think that every movie needs to be connected and have a big pay off in the end with a crossover film, we can’t have solo movies or stories anymore, it’s honestly really sad and unfortunate.
Another point that you didn’t mention is that having a smash bros movie would be a mess because of how many characters there are, Ultimate had like 80+ characters, it would be a nightmare for writers to handle that much

Probably not happening. If the M&L games were canon to this universe, the Beanbean Kingdom would be within close proximity, and Peach would remember the Shroob invasion when talking about her childhood.
true, but unfortunately the company behind mario and luigi went bankrupt so i doubt it would ever happen :(

SO! As for today, December 21, 2023, there is a report about Illumination pitching a smash idea with many movies before the main crossover. Jesus christ.
Thank you, I felt like I was the only one who DOESN'T want this
Most people seem to hope this will happen from what I've gathered
To be fair, Laika already did one of the best Zelda-like as Zelda-like you can get with Kubo. They even got a musical instrument with magical properties!
Studio Ghibili made Princess Mononoke that heavily inspired BOTW in multiple ways like forest beings, evil pigs, etc
@@elk4588 totally! One can make the argument that Castle in the Sky is like Wind Waker, but up on the air. Such great movies.
@@elk4588 Oh yeah, I remember that. Even both Ashitaka and Link have a cursed arm
Also, I don't think Laika is going to accept this type of collaborations since as far as I know, it is first a passion project by some rich guy who adores stop motion iirc.
I feel like it’s important to note that Nintendo bought their own studio and plan on making their own movies WITHOUT Illumination, so I believe that Nintendo properties are more likely to be efficiently translated into film. I still agree with your point though that a Smash Bros. Movie would be too convoluted and incoherent. Movies are movies, not fanfics.
They need better writers for Zelda and Metroid
Modern Hollywood blockbusters would beg to differ on that last point.
Hope he's still doing well after the recent tragedy... much respect he's still on the content grind 🙏
I also feel like a Splatoon movie made by DreamWorks could definitely have a lot of potential!
I feel like Zelda might also work better live action, though I wonder how they would get around Link being mute.
Even in the recent games with voice acting, Link not talking is part of the universe.
I honestly think a 2d animated series or movie would work a lot stronger, especially with breath of the wild. Not only do I think it would do a lot of the visual elements of the series more justice - for example, I could not imagine if the Netflix Castlevania was live action instead. I also feel it could be used mor effectively to convey link not speaking.
From my admittedly limited experience with the Zelda franchise... Link talks... just not audibly for the players. If this is a recent change with Breath of The Wild then you can at least understand my confusion with these points that you and Schafrillas are bringing up. Legend of Zelda could probably be a pretty damn good movie/series. Link talking isn't really a big deal.
@@danielarputharaj9918 that’s what I was thinking
Mario is pretty much mute in all his games so just make him talk
@@danielarputharaj9918 The animated would certainly make Link not speaking seem a lot less weird. I guess personally I'd just love to see who they would cast for certain characters like Ganon
I think a Smash Bros. movie could work, but NOT as a big MCU-styled crossover event. It'd be more like the Lego Movie and explore themes of childhood through the lens of a kid playing with toys, kinda like the games themselves.

9:28 I for a second interpreted this as Saul Goodman being the most nuanced character in THE universe, not just his fictional one, and I found that really funny
Illumination would be awesome for Wario with all of Wari's grossout humor (like flaming farts) and whacky sounds. This is a 100% legit take, Schaffer. Good stuff.
Never thought of that
I hope not, honestly. I actually dislike the degeneration of the many possibilities with his wah-cky and charismatic traits solely to fart gags, almost to the point of looking a weird fanfic.

I always thought it would be cool to see a live action Metroid, and I'm going to keep cautiously hoping for that. I want to see a truly horrifying depiction of Ridley on screen! It's like, my childhood dream. Well, that and Ridley in Smash, but we got that already.

Given how much cross-pollination there has already been, Studio Ghibli is probably the best choice at this point for a Zelda movie.
I could see them pull that off
That would be awesome, but apparently they're in the works of making a deal with Illumination again for Zelda... It worked great with Mario, but I feel like Zelda has such a different tone. I remember a while ago, there was an anime con I was at that had a theme that many people described as Zelda meets Star Wars, and honestly, those two have more in common than Mario and Zelda in my opinion.
@@joylox They're kind of opposites, in a way; Star Wars is fantasy dressed up like sci-fi, while the Legend of Zelda (especially lately) is in many ways sci-fi dressed up like fantasy.
4:02 Nice fossil fighters reference. Series is not talked about enough
There's already a Smash movie that was made, called "There Will be Brawl" available on RUclips right now. They even got Ganondorf's voice actor to reprise his role, as well as to voice other characters.
(Jokes aside, TWBB is pretty gritty and definitely a product of its time, but it's still worth a watch.)
Okay that actually sounds epic
What about "Reviving the Smash Bros Fighters"?
I think that might count.....
It’s even more ironic when you know the guy who played Ganondorf is actually Matthew Mercer. AKA, the one and only number 1 player of Dungeons and Dragons thanks to his hit series Critical Role where’s he’s the top leader and does a lot of voice roles, like Chrom in Fire Emblem, Yusuke in Persona 5, and Jotaro from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Seriously. Dude’s been INSANELY talented and he just keeps getting better and better.
Hey, I recently watched that. It was pretty good, all things considered.
@igger Stop spamming
Imagine Metroid made as a stop motion horror movie with minimal dialogue and brutal grotesque violence. I would love that
Maybe animate on mostly twos and threes lmao
What if it visually looked like a sci phi movie before CGI rolled around, like the original Star Wars Trilogy, or 2001: A space odyssey
That would honestly be sick
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Metroid
Tbh wouldnt DreamWorks make the most sense for Zelda? They're owned by Universal same as Illumination, and they've been spectacular recently
I love DreamWorks, but I think an anime studio like Ufotable or Ghibli would be the best choice for a Zelda adaptation.
Puss in Boots TLW was amazing, yes, but Teenage Kraken bombed hard. Dreamworks is good, but Zelda should probably be handed over to a more consistent studio.
Bro, it's twitter, people dont have brains there
If we ever get a Kirby movie, then Dedede needs to have the same VA as "Kirby right back at Ya". But who am I kidding? They will most likely have Dave Bautista or Kevin Hardt as his voice.
My money’s on Samuel L Jackson.
-OR CHRIS PRATT-
Same Idea for Meta Knight with my bet on Antonio Banderas
@@omegadrive9999 I thought so too, but then I figured they’d be hesitant to have the character associated with the funny Shrek cat, so theyd maybe get someone more intense like Javier Bardem or Danny Trejo
They already downplayed Meta Knight’s accent as early as Brawl.
Illumination: Mario.
Original Film: Sonic
Ghilbi: Zelda (it'll work well)
Dreamworks: Star Fox
Disney/Pixar: Either Kirby or Earthbound
Sony Animation: Maybe Kid Icarus
Some studio idk: Pokemon Detective Pikachu
I would NOT trust illumination with Kirby lmao. Yes the series' darker elements are generally understated and hidden away, but I don't think they should be discounted. I don't think i could trust illumination to deliver something tonally consistent with like. The way the plots of every mainline game RTDL onward go near their tail ends. They'd probably deliver a half assed Dream Land 1 retelling and I think everyone is tired of Dedede being shoved back into the role of antagonist when he's outgrown it.
Even before a video like this existed, I was never into the idea of a Smash Bros movie or a Nintendo cinematic universe. It would just be a nightmare to follow/create.
Nah, it would be the greatest thing ever, especially since marvel movies are kinda falling off after endgame.
The funny chipmunks guy is here!
@Voltron77 The issue with this a Smash Bros movie/Nintendo Cinematic Universe is that you can only use like 6 Nintendo franchises. Mario, Zelda, Metriod, DK, Pokemon, and Kirby. The other Nintendo franchises don't have that mainstream popularity or universal appeal in order to benefit from a big theatrical movie plus most of them can't really transition into movies. Maybe Punch Out and Star Fox can, but those series aren't that popular. Series like Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Kid Icurus, Star Fox, F-Zero, Mother, Arms, Punch Out, Splatoon, etc only work as video games. Plus if you want 3rd party characters that's another issue.
HAHAHAHA RICEGUM BABY DIE 😂😂🎉👌
Even if it did go into production I genuinely think it will take over 10 years to make since there is so many companies you have to get in contacts with and agree and make rules and crap for all sorts
I also belive that DreamWorks would be great for a Zelda movie, I want to imagine that it could be like how to train your dragon
I want Morshu to be foreshadowed in a post credits scene
Hell yeah. And maybe bring in some low frames for some especially intense fights.
I feel like under Nintendo, they could definitely make a good one. Dreamworks is completely capable of putting out some amazing movies under the right circumstances
Or Laika!
They are busy with live action HTTYD
Yeah that's the biggest difference. DC and Marvel all feature characters who's stories often revolve around each other. Some of the best comic stories are cross overs.
Comparatively, part of the joy of SSB is the fact that all these characters DON'T fit together. It's fine to just want a Zelda movie
The ONLY way I'd accept a Smash Bros movie is if they played up the fact that figures are just toy's and not the actual charaters. Like they all based off the movie vesions (if they do make movies for all of them) BUT they give it it's own cannon
If it were a thing I’d want it to be like the video game characters and have this attachment to the kid who plays those games like a Toy Story movie
sidenote: I would love for WarioWare
to just be a silly movie where Wario gets all his friends together to make short films so he can make as much revenue as possible
I think that would be hilarious
Not just short films, makes a streaming service and wants content
WarioWare would unironicly be a BANGER short film series.
Thst would both be amazing and ironic considering how illumination mostly cares about profits over quality
I think Warioware would be better as a cartoon series instead of a movie
An anthology film would be interesting
I feel that dreamworks could handle a zelda movie very well. Because of what they did with the HTTYD movies , or even puss in boots the last wish, I would love to see a Zelda movie with either one of those art styles.
DreamWorks could easily pull it off. I would be genuinely hype for it.
EXACTLY, Dreamworks is worthy of making a Zelda animated movie
I think Zelda should be handled by an anime studio. Studio Ghibli would be the most ideal scenario, but that’s a pipe dream.
Omg I didn't think of that but yeah they'd do it so well. Although I do think a zelda film in the stop motion artstyle laika is known for would bring tears to my eyes.
I agree, the MOMENT I heard of the possibility of a Zelda movie I KNEW that DreamWorks should be the one in charge, Illumination cannot handle the Zelda series
Zelda is a franchise that is very close to my heart. I'm sweating bullets thinking about who would get the license to make a Zelda movie. I don't know which Movie studio would be best suited to bring it to life, but it would need to be one that can encapsulate the Zelda world's unique feel. I think it would be best as a 2D adaptation and preferably given to a studio in Japan. Although unlikely, Studio Ghibli would be perfect since their movies would perfectly match the themes of life, nature, adventure and atmosphere of the games. I just hope Nintendo is careful with who they give it to. It can't be goofy or too comedic and needs some of the solemn vibes of the games.
I feel like modern audiences don’t want to see actual movies anymore, they just want to see their favorite thing on the big screen. I’m not trying to shame anyone for liking the Mario movie or whatever nostalgia movie, but it’s kind of concerning how a film like the Mario movie gets endless praise and constant people defending it against any cristicism, yet audiences hate new ideas and genuinely well made movies that don’t pander to children or man children. Am I the only one who thinks this? Because it’s very concerning.
I hate the mario movie. SUBSCRIBE!
Finally someone else who understands me, I’ve felt the same way modern audiences endlessly praise a certain movie because of nostalgia I mean just look at the Mario Movie and the FNAF Movie.
@@krys7643what about the sonic movies?
As a Metroid fan I must insist that Genndy Tartakovsky would be the perfect choice of director for an adaptation of the series. I mean, do I even need to explain why?
His amazing action sequences?
No he wouldn't he relishes in a snappy cartoony style, Metroid is all about the moody atmosphere, in fact you couldn't really make a better Metroid movie than Alien and Aliens which is already what inspired it.
Primal was good until it started sucking 3/4ths of the way through.
Yes, because I don't know who that is
I don’t think he would, he’s one of my favorites, but I don’t think his style would jive with the feeling and tension of the Metroid franchise
A movie adaptation of the Mario rpg series would be BRUTAL, bowser being the good guy or the shroob invasion would be art
And we also shouldn't trust Illumination with any of the Mario RPG stuff either, basically anything focused more heavily on plot should be handed to a different studio.
Or even fawful
Or going to Pillo Island
@@Thecoolgamer-cx9tj the only issue with Fawful is you need at least two movies for him to work properly so they’d have to have enough incentive to commit to tgat

Majora's Mask is incompatible with a video form media, relies too heavily on interacttion

I can't really imagine a good plot of a Smash Bros movie, it would be Nintendo characters fighting but what else? The plots for Ultimate and Brawl were good but would it work for a movie?
There was a whole plot in Smash Bros Brawl AND Smash Ultimate
I’m guessing some multiversial threat but most characters would’ve had experience with that before, or someone brings them together in like a tournament and something is happening in the background
That’s sort of my query as well. Fighting game movies typically don’t have strong narratives unless you’re going to focus on individual characters and their connections to each other. But if they’re all from completely different franchises, that’s going to be rough and haphazard storytelling.
Even using the premise of “some massive force pulled these beings into a random place for them to fight to victory,” it feels like the narrative will be peppered with pointless spectacle fights before everyone has to “team-up and defeat the big bad that brought them there.” Which, okay, but it’s not likely to create a compelling movie.
@@skrub_king I know but would that kind of plot work for a movie?
@Vampunz either that or the world of light from ultimate.
