    You know what I enjoy most about these vids is seeing your growth. Not just in video quality, but in business as well... from my perspective it seems like you went from DJing and working with tour companies part time to doing this FULL-TIME. You've secured sizable contracts and you went from being a cog in the machine to running your own stages... I Seriously respect your grind... Its inspiring... Keep Doing what you're doing ...and MORE CONTENT!!!

    When I was young I was a roadie and crewed on a tour for one of the still big names in rock. We came into the city for the biggest date of the tour and it was outdoors and on a stage not a permanent facility like in your video. It was already light rain when we got there and forcast was for more rain coming. All of us knew the show would get canceled and were just waiting for the official word to come. We did unload the trucks and stage the boxes just incase they said to go. The PA company I won't say who because they are still one of the big names was on the tour with us the owner managing his team. He had his crew going crazy setting up the PA, why because his contract states if the PA is up and running he gets paid even if the show is canceled. So he got his system up, tested it, made a announcement over the system to prove it works and smiled. Then had his team got crazy tearing it down because the rain started to pour. Always thought that was an asshole move on his part, everyone else knew the show would be canceled and it was.
    We had a few more dates and the tour left and it was predicted the rain would be gone in a week so we finished the schedule and came back to this city. It was drizzling rain but the promoter and bands management decided rain or not too much money is at stake we'll play in the rain. The promoter did buy huge rolls of plastic sheeting to cover the stage, but when wind is blowing the rain you still the band and crew on stage were still getting wet. The scary part was one guy they dressed in a rubber outfit and boots was assigned to the powerpole to kill the power if it got too bad. Poor guy was standing in water, rubber boots or not I would never of done that. But we had two main power distro box on left and right stage and I got assigned to the right side box. I only did it because it was a complete covered area of the stage, but it was still a scary situation. But the show went on, promoter and bands management make a lot of money and the rest of us just had a story to tell our friends.

    Always enjoy your videos, John. Informative AND entertaining!
    Quick question: I see you have your company logo on your trunks and cases. Is that stickers or did you get a template made and then paint them? Would you mind sharing your experience with that and who you worked with to get those made? Something I need to get done this winter.
    Thanks much!

    Also, I disagree about the Client / Customer is always right. That's what they pay YOU for. You wouldn't hire a Plumber and tell him to use a Gate Valve instead of a Ball Valve. They can tell you want they want, as far as outcome, but it is up to your experience as to how they get it.

    Have you thought about flipping all your conventionals from none led based to led based ? Something like sixpar 300 or 18PHEX or even going the Moving head Profile with drop frost or even Fuze 350 route or even the cost effective ZW37 2 route ?

    @John Simmons how many watts are you pushing per channel on this production event, and are you using 4 ohms or 2 ohms PA speaks with crossover and including subs?

    "ProTip" . . . Always have backup cables of EVERY kind, Coil up AND mark, (We use Pink Ribbons) bad cables to be worked on during the week and don't waste time on a cable. If it doesn't work the 1st time, swap it out, PERIOD, No Exceptions. Saves time and Headaches. Should be 1 man's job every Monday morning to go through the "Pink Cable box".

    • @Xolanidj

      That was such a nice setup, only for the rain to kill the operation like that. Definitely and interesting decision for the client to move the audience to the stage and you had to use the monitors for the main mix. At least it looks like the performers did well and the people still enjoyed themselves.

      Essentially with 3 phase power you get 3 120 v circuits out of those phases (phase to neutral 3 times) you can also have 3 circuits of 208v power (phase to phase 3 times) or one 208v 3 phase circuit. The distro takes the 3 phases and outputs it as 10/5 L21-30 connectors so you have 5 wires (3 phases, neutral and ground) which can then further breakout to standard 120v circuits or 208v as needed

    You need to be careful about what you say in your videos especially if it's about your opinion on a clients' judgment. They could be watching this vid at any given moment.
    Your videos are great and serve as a good marketing tool. You don't want any of your future clients looking at this video thinking you might be saying similar things about their productions even if what you're saying is indeed true.

    When it comes to trouble shooting cables and audio signal issues, we highly recommend a cable tester. behringer makes a very affordable and very versatile tester that tests xlr, trs, 3.5mm, TT, and rca, and speakon. they display any shorts, crossed wires, etc, as well as provide a tone generator.

    • @g3o5d
      @g3o5d 5 лет назад +1

      Great advice, but not onsite. Cable Testers are good for the office. Always have extra cables and swap them out A.S.A.P. Don't waste time testing at the venue.

    *The venue is wonderful but it would have been far better to have that show at the River Market Pavilion, which has a roof and is a far better venue for an act and size of show that small*

    Plugging and unplugging feeder from distros in the correct order was the best info I ever got when on a gig. If you unplug a hot distro you can explode, call it pink mist. an arc from 200Amps at 110-220Volts will kill you.

    • @OPBagels
      @OPBagels 5 лет назад +1

      Tip to help keep feeder safe in the rain, place something under the ends and e tape over the creases repeatedly
