Urban Fox The Casio Engineers made that bass Rhythm, its actually a built in Rhythm preset on the keyboard, it was ripped off and used by many Reggae dub artists who made it famous, guys like Wayne Smith and Anthony Red Rose used it a lot in their work, Way in my brain is just either a sample from those famous dub tracks, or they sampled it of the Casio, or they just recreated the Rhythm on a Synth, but that Casio gave birth to all of those tracks, you can actually transpose the Rhythm on the Keyboard and make more complex Bass melodies out of it
Jefferson it’s a preset on the Casio MT40/41 Have you heard of Sleng-Teng, as this the pattern that is responsible for it and digital dub. Can you send me an example of the devo track that it reminds you of?
It was more than painted, it had a brand new control panel with lots of mods and was not cheap. I think he owns around 10 of our hand built instruments now. :)
Space Cat Audio Technologies the reggae bassline was used in a sublime song (called caress me down) i know its a old reggae tune but i like me some sublime
This is a 40 year old keyboard, it has been used in more tracks than I can count up too, including Wayne Smith who made it very famous. It originates from Eddie Cochran. The woman who was responsible for programming it at the Casio factory had a soft spot for the B.line. :)
Thanks for the info man! I will return the favor by saying that its called the sleng teng riddim, and according to wiki is "one of the first fully computerized riddims, influential in Jamaican music". So pretty much a jazz standard for reggae, lol . The synth does sound awesome.
