Finally I finished this laptop

- Hi everyone, thank your 16 minutes of your time. In this video finally I fix this Sony Vaio laptop. After a couple of attempts I almost gave up on this laptop and almost this laptop finish for parts and recycle. But after some work and searching the problem, this machine is alive again. The only down side is, this laptop cannot charge the battery, it is showing like is charging but that is not real. Anyway using power adapter everything is working perfectly fine. Also all the parts used on this laptop are from other dead laptops, broken and repaired stuff, etc. So in general this laptop turns to nice scrap laptop.

Your entire videos give me a courage to fix my old Mid 2009 MBP 15' with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 and Nvidia 9400 and 9600GT. Actually this laptop has a lot of problems, but slowly i restoring this laptop like fixing the power connector, wifi card, changing the battery, changing the keyboard, upgraded from HDD into SSD + HDD, upgrading into 8 GB RAM, and upgrading from 10.11.6 El Capitan into 10.15.7 Catalina to make it could be used normally in 2024, and thanks to you, i learn a lot of things from you!
Right now this laptop still have the minor problems like the trackpad and right speaker, but later i would change it and make it the proper machine that i could use it for daily. And i already test it that i still could do my design with this old laptop in Figma, SketchUp, even rendering in After Effects it was still possible with this old MBP.
There you go again being awesome andrew! i fixed 2 laptops this week. 1 i have never taken apart and worked my way through it and the other needed serious upgrades to keep going. neither were mine, but family laptops.
i told my brother in law that if it weren't for you inspiring me i would have stopped doing this a long time ago, and it was his wife's laptop i tore down and fixed.

You can install Windows on older hardware if BIOS have option UEFI, its better create pendrive using GPT instead of MBR to communicate to disk better..

Something goes always wrong is relatable. My friend had a acer laptop and it's display will start to flicker and go white like is broken. Then after 1 week of power down display works normal again.
Nice job on the fixing. I might of gotten a black-keyboard with white letters ; for me that would be better to see easier.
Regarding the battery charging the issue maybe with the i/o Ic

Another way to bypass hardware check in Windows 11 ISO is to use Ventoy. Simply install Ventoy into USB drive, put Win 11 ISO image into the big partition and boot it from Ventoy.
Apart from that, it works on BIOS and UEFI machines and you can have multiple ISO images in a single USB drive.

My daily use laptop was also a corpse until l put a LCD, RAM, keyboard, battery and SSD. Now l've got an Asus A53SJ fully functional for my purposes. Just spent 130€ and everything's back to life from a "trash" laptop. It was in 2021 and we're still using it. 🎉🎉🎉

Yikes... that battery won't charge is quite painful. It's basically functions like PC desktop using power supply. There is no way to avoid it if blackout occurs.
I am amazed that you managed to get this laptop up and running again! With such a serious motherboard fault that is non-fixable, I would have looked for an alternative motherboard - or, if not available, would have just stripped the laptop for its parts. I'm also surprised you went with the i7 given the damage to the motherboard: I would have kept the i3, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD instead of 500GB, and probably Windows 10 instead of 11. But I now know how to make a Windows 11 install USB for older PCs (and newer ones too, since I'm not using a Microsoft Account).

Why didn't you use UEFI when the laptop supported it
I would have used UEFI... in fact you can make two different install USBs, one with GPT/UEFI and one with MBR/BIOS.

You likely using method Bypass to be able to Install Windows 11. Looks interesting but the consequences is not gonna receive regular updates from Microsoft unlike official or compatible devices like my new Laptop 😅

Why did you selected MBR (Legacy) and not UEFI its better it will show the vaio logo when it starts .
