This series needs to conclude with Jake being chased by the whole office in a nerf hunt and him getting a week to set up elaborate vanishing acts to turn the tables on his hunters.

I love how Sam is the resident wiseman and wizard, and yet he is always so taken by these Jake Bond classics. Wren’s reaction was one of my favourites though 😂💜

I can't tell you how much I love these videos.
The illusion is made more impactful in the movie by the fact that he starts walking in the opposite direction before the vehicle drives by.
Yea, your head and eyes are going to waste a second or two continuing tracking Bourne in the direction he was going.
And the speed of his gait too..
This also would keep his feet in the shadow, not in the light like when he was walking with it.
It'd be hilarious if the little truck just stopped like 4 feet after he hopped on it. Master escape plan: foiled!

In the movie In the Line Of Fire they have John Malkovich disappear when a bus drives by. If you look closely under the bus you can see his feet running along with it.
They should have filmed it downwards at an angle, where the van is at a lower elevation
@Jaap Scherphuis so funny you mentioned this. I just saw that movie for the first time last weekend. And I noticed the feet too lol. I figured maybe they left it in the movie to make him vanishing seem more realistic
I think the reason Wren's worked so well is because another car drove behind the van like 2 seconds afterward making it feel like more genuine traffic. Having another car following every time as misdirection would've helped sell the other shots even more. Either way that was AMAZING. I was laughing my ass off haha love these videos guys, Keep letting Jake be Jake.
It was also just good timing. Jake started moving at the perfect time in that shot, whereas he started to jump a little too early in some and we could still see him

Its not just LA - When I left WA, the Pacific Northwest was being taken over by Homeless Camps and freeway trash heaps :/
I think what makes this work the best is when there were multiple vehicles, it looked less staged. Also, having them at a higher incline so they couldn't see feet under the van would make it work even better.
Also he needs to be already walking.. preferably in the opposite direction to the van..
The feet are visible from camera point of view which is lower that the onlookers.
The timing of Jake turning around was also important - it looked much better when he seemed to walk away from the van.
Yeah, the second vehicle immediately following really help selling it better

Wren is such a golden retriever. He gives the best, most excited reactions to everything. I don't care if it's over the top, or sometimes exaggerated. It's still fun to watch him experience everything with such wonder

Like if you are standing in the road when they spot you, and then turn toward the direction the traffic is coming from to walk back toward the sidewalk as if the get out of the path of the van. Looking over your right shoulder as the van passes just behind you moving left. Or not looking at all.
You apparently VANISH like a super spy (actually falling backwards onto some cushions in the van.)
And the REAL Jason Bourn could do it with a short little golf cart.
It also seemed (at least on the first watch) like they should have had him standing on a curb so that his feet wouldn’t have been visible under the van so they wouldn’t have needed the mat hanging out the door of the van to conceal his feet.
Definitely, the fact that he started moving in the direction of the van, and speeded up just before disappearing made it obvious.
yes. In the original clip from the jb film he is moving the opposite direction of the tuktuk. its a small difference but i think its significant as you say.
@@OnTheShangriLa I agree, it's small...but it makes the viewer expect you to continue traveling in that direction. A secondary visual obstruction (like the pedestrians perfectly timed to cross in the foreground in the Bourne movie at the exact moment he subverts expectations) also makes a big difference.
With all his training of vanishing I honestly fear Jake, he could be the most dangerous person alive today

It is common at least in Citites, but even outside big cities it's common to see Homeless holding signs for money too, My Parents always told me when I was growing up to never give them any because they'll just buy drugs with it. Which not sure if that's true but to be honest I know it's fucked up and definitely makes me not a bad person but my first thought when I see them always does jump straight to assuming they're junkies even though logically I know not everyone in need is dealing with, it's just that's where my mind goes and so I automatically just ignore the Homeless and pay no attention
I'm a little jealous of the few moments of surrealism this would cause. That's just a special thing you don't actually get to experience in normal life. I feel like I'd understand what happened almost immediately, but that wouldn't make it any less fun. This is definitely my favorite Jake prank :P
Also, the little turn away from the van right before it passes by definitely sells the stunt way better. Nicely done!

Lovely reaction from Wren and Jan - like an inner child, not calling right away what has happened, but a pure amazement how cool and slick it looked. Like Wren said, it feels a bit special to be able to witness such a trick in real life after so many (often cheesy) scenes in action movies :)

You'll need to change the formula, seems that all the crew is already used to Jake doing these superhero/prank tricks and I can't blame them ;)

I was thinking if people saw a tent on the street here in Eastern Europe, it would raise a few eyebrows, but it just blends in in the US
Specifically LA and other large cities (Austin, NY, Seattle, etc.). Where I live (rural Midwest) a tent on the street is also suspicious.
Yeah, don't put this on the US. This is in major cities in the US, primarily mostly-liberal cities.
Only time you see tents in the streets around here is in the run-up to July 4th and they're filled with fireworks.

The scene would be more intense if he just stood there menacingly, feet apart, and avoided walking/turning around before the van comes along. But please, more "Jake'on Bourne"! I love it!
I've done this with my friends before, hide besides a moving van (slow moving van) when we were crossing and I crossed first then pop up 30ft along the road. The look on their face is priceless
I’ve done it too with a Transit, then I sneaked around the park they were sitting next to, then crept up behind them and made them jump so bad, it felt so cool

Sam and Wren's reactions were pretty great. Especially Wren who always reacts in such over-the-top ways. Sam only worked because he looked away at the crucial instant.
The hilarious part was that shot at 7:37 where you can see Jake's feet tipitap behind the van.
I think the set-up would've worked better if the sidewalk was taller, as to not need the tarp coming down from the van, so that you would never see Jake's feet while the van was driving in front of him.
That was really fun all around, and I love the crews reactions. Especially Wren. You guys work very hard, but also love when turn it into play too.
Can we get a Jakin Bourne full movie? I wanna see the tea towel used to kill!

The anticipation is really good but the climax can be a lot better. Just imagine if there're multiple vans/cars passing through and for the first few vehicles going pass him you can still see him just standing before he vanished to thin air when the last van passed Jake's position.

I love that no matter who they did it to, they were thoroughly entertained.
Something you guys missed out on apparently is that Matt Damon didn't jump onto the car or anything like that in Bourne, you can clearly see his feet moving as he runs alongside the car and even stands up at the end of the shot.
