Did this song not appear in Castlevania chronicles, or that computer game it was an enhanced port of? I think that was a reimagining of Castlevania 1, so I'd be surprised if it didn't appear. I think the PS1 game even let you chose different versions of the OST based on the different soundcards

I don't know if it's really inspired or if it's just a coincidence, but the Abandoned Castle theme from Curse of Darkness has a part that sounds very similar to a certain part of Heart of Fire. Check it at the 1:50 mark of that song.
the part you're talking about can also be heard in several other songs throughout the series, not just abandoned castle. it's a pretty common motif in the series
