I understand that the technology of the time was different and it's been ragged on a lot but I've never actually heard a song that actually physically hurt me until I heard the DoS box version.
That sound is nostalgia to me. That was just how pc games sounded. I preferred gaming on my NES a lot though, but it was cool how PCs weren't only for work.
i never liked how the Amiga couldn't hold long notes and they just sounded like they were thrilling. although it sounds really really good in 1.25 speed
Speaking of the sped up Ver., I think that the main melody is far better than normal, but the percussions and bass are a total mess (they do kinda fit with the normal song)
Time for the ranksssss 8. MS DOS speaker and adlib. both of these versions are equally shit 7. Commodore 64. Pretty bad also but at least a little better than the DOS versions. Oh wait theres 1 left 6. Order of shadows: sounds weird but at least its OK 5: MS DOS tandy: im gonna be honest i actually kinda like this one. Especially the drum samples but it has 1 ear grading part which makes me put it lower 4. Amiga: this 1 is a lot slower and calm than the others which probably doesn't fit the level but i think this version is pretty good 3. Vampire killer: don't got much to say other than it sounds pretty good 2. NES and FDS these are both really good but they are also both practically the same thing 1. Smash bros: the only real modern rendition of the song and its amazing. Why is this song more unknown?
I think they tried to take a couple of tracks from every game in the series and heart of fire just missed the cut. As you're well aware, Castlevania has no short supply of epic music and Simon and Richter came in with 34 tracks, and arguably, the more recent games during the DS ERA were snubbed compared to the more classic titles.
Call me crazy, but I kinda like the DOS Tandy version, it's like Castlevania a la Megaman 1. Granted it's still nowhere near as good as the NES versuib
To be fair, the pc ports of Castlevania were rushed, and play and sound like garbage. There is a new recreation of the Castlevania OST on AdLib/SoundBlaster here on yt which sounds amazing

Good god those dos versions. Really makes you appreciate the nes sound chip.
How could you possibly say that? They are bangers...... In the sense that they bang your hears and give you irrecuperable damage.
No doubts that the NES songs are good to hear. I was just joking about the awful DoS versions, which are worst in every way possible.
Castlevania Music Forever the Tandy version is tolerable, apart from the fact that it feels like someone is drilling into your ears with that bass
Ngl the AdLib and Tandy versions is pretty great
They only truly bad dos version is the beeper version. The other two are good. The Tandy version is better than the original imo.
Imagine growing up with the DOS version of CV1 and then hearing the NES/Famicom OST for the first time.
as always the MS DOS speaker version is the superior one
Obviously. I couldn't live without it.
I like the dos Tandy Version The best
damn all other version: beep beep sounds.
smash bros ultimate: rock music starts playing
Nes version: "Just imagine Christian rock."
SSBU: "Don't worry. I got you fam."
I hear it.
more like Belmont rock

@Chris-gx1ei Yeah i get that. That doesn't matter. What matters is that it's a fantastic series. Have been a HUGE fan of this series all my life.
My god, the Smash version upgrades this theme ten fold.
Makes a fun ringtone though
Smash showed so much love to Castlevania

Not gonna lie, this is DEFINITELY me when I'm out of time

bleeb bloob
11:26 just hits differently...
Didn't know how much of a G L O W U P the Smash version was until I saw this
Glow up? Pffhahaha.
I don't think I've ever heard the term "glowup" used for music before...I mean, I guess it's not wrong, but...
@@Write-Stuff Yes.
@@Zansekai I can't believe it's been two years since I left that comment. Not sure why I did really. Must have struck me funny at the time.
I gotta give credit to the Tandy version, that actually sounds pretty awesome.
The DOS speaker version sounds like someone's trying to put coins in the push start to rich bootleg on NES
You deserve much respect for how the video is broken up. Makes it easy to find each version. Thanks!
One of my favorite songs!
NES and the SSBU are the best
Without a doubt
Sad that the best versions of this song are 32 years apart.
You (4:31 MS-DOS Speaker ver.) verses the guy she tells you not to worry about (9:54 Smash Bros version)
Smash Bros version kinda sucks.
I've always liked the beginning of the commodore versions
Amiga version is like Simon drunkenly stumbling his way to Dracula’s keep
4:32 Sounds like they tried to make the song out of dial up internet sounds
i never liked how the Amiga couldn't hold long notes and they just sounded like they were thrilling. although it sounds really really good in 1.25 speed

It actually helps on more Amiga versions too
Do you mean, on other songs from the Amiga port of Castlevania 1? Or on Amiga songs in general?
@@castlevaniamusicforever Amiga ports of Castlevania
I like the smash ultimate version 🔥🔥🔥
the commdore 64 version of out of time is really good.

I agree with this ranking
how is the adlib version that bad
Am I the only one who heard a little bit of this in the cover of Bloody Tears in the Netflix show?
The Smash music team remembered Out of Time but not Heart of Fire...I'm happy this song is finally getting more recognition but I really like HoF...
I think they tried to take a couple of tracks from every game in the series and heart of fire just missed the cut. Heart of fire is in smash tho, its name was changed to “cant wait until night”
@@yogainstructor4437 it's also reusing the version from Harmony of Despair
We all know that the Smash Ultimate version is the best one.
Why wasn’t this song in more games
Can I just say that the amiga version was great
Call me crazy, but I kinda like the DOS Tandy version, it's like Castlevania a la Megaman 1. Granted it's still nowhere near as good as the NES versuib
For some reason I imagined Ninja Gaiden before Mega Man but I guess both fit
I know the ms dos are worse, but why is the adlib kinda not bad
Amiga version sounds like something from Phoenix Wright
The adlib dos version sounds like sega genesis
This might rival Lifelight for best song in smash
For some reason I like the dos tandy version better than the nes
SAME.
NES, amiga, and order of shadows are the best
I’m surprised this song wasn’t used more
The fuck is an "MS DOS AdLib" and why does it Sound like playing on steel rods? :D

forgot Library from Mirror of Fate

LOL the Speaker version of DOS is probably the worst song I've ever heard in gaming
You should listen to the Basement Theme from the Resident Evil Director’s Cut
It even beats out MMII GB Stage Select!
