    Another great instructional video. I have watched a couple hundred of your 4L60E vids and pick up something each time, whether due to a slightly different camera angle or a new remark. Thanks. Don't you and Theresa get burned out doing it all by yourselves.

    The seal in my 09 Grand Cherokee 545RFE for the filter is hard to get out. I use a 6" 1/2" black pipe, it threads into the seal and then you pull out the seal with the pipe.

  • @skutahuniai4830
    @skutahuniai4830 8 месяцев назад +1

    I can't believe a man with this much experience says "There is no easy way" to remove the filter seal. Nonsense. Screw in a piece of 1/2" rigid pipe with an "L" shape at the other end. One or two whacks with a hammer and done. Fast and ZERO damage. In the car or out.

      ive changed 50 or so filters on gms in the past 8 years just doing a service, always felt guilty for not changing the seal, but after 1 attempt that took an hour to get it out i never bothered again. never looked up a tool or a trick to help get them out. thats why i asked on his last video on how to get them out. would love to see your trick work

    Whats a good way to help make the 4l60 trans last?

  • @hankwilliams-hx9ww

    I have this transmission on my dad's truck that he left me when he passed an old 2001 with a 4.8 and 220000 mi on it. I'm throwing a P0741 code for TCC stuck off... Can I just leave it alone and drive it? Not a vehicle I'm really trying to put money into. Fluid smells very sweet and sour but not necessarily burnt and still has a decent burgundy red to it.

    • @richardteresacricheducatio3542
      @richardteresacricheducatio3542  8 месяцев назад +1

      With that code stuck in there, the computer will keep the pressure raised higher than normal to protect the transmission with that code in there, though transmission will overheat without lock up working since it says, stuck off and not a circuit code. Then you could just change the solenoid and probably be fine with a service everything done in the pan very easy Then delete code

      @@richardteresacricheducatio3542 thanks so much for your reply guys I really appreciate it! You have no idea how much this helps and you would be surprised at how much Google searching didn't tell me any of this. Now that I know what I'm looking at I can actually go to a shop somewhere with some knowledge. God bless you guys! Thanks again! 😁

      @@richardteresacricheducatio3542 to be quite honest I may even try it myself it's not a daily driver so I could put it up on jack stands and lower the pan myself and take my time with it. I may watch videos and see if I feel like it's something I could pull off. Farthest I've ever gone with auto repairs maybe a radiator, alternator, or some brake pads.
      If all that is required work inside the pan that's probably something I could do and if I screwed up it's not a big deal I can take it to a shop and get it redone properly. It would just be very cool to take the opportunity and perhaps save some money and do a small service myself. 💪

      Going to be doing a video this morning and posting today I will talk about replacing the lock up solenoids they make a solenoid you can wire in or you can replace the harness that has the solenoid attached to it. I would clip the wires and wire in a new solenoid … trans star sales a lock up solenoid called a Fitz all

    Hey Richard and Teresa! I have a question: I'm building a TH350 and was wondering if my stock pump housing can be modified to have oil grooves in it? I know you've said that pump is bad for pushing the gears into the wall and cutting a groove in there and I thought grinding some oil grooves would help keep it oiled and lasting longer. Is this something that can be done without ruining it?

      Because it looked like it had an entire clutch disk worth of toasted lining in the pan.
      Automatics have a tendency to eat themselves pretty quickly when things aren't right, leaving that to chance is a gamble. You pay for the rebuild now, instead of paying for a rebuild plus parts and a tow later.

    • @elipsonj
      @elipsonj 8 месяцев назад

      @elipsonj I'm quoting his assessment. In the video, he said he'd take it out regardless due to all the trash in the pan. That's not my judgment. You gotta work on your comprehension skills.
