Several years ago, my brother raced Super Gas and I built the Glides for him and friends. We were pretty low budget, really, and broke a lot of stock cases. Every time, I had to build a trans. I made adapters to use T F filters so that looked pretty familiar. The aftermarket has come a long way, since we raced (20 +) years ago. I always enjoyed trans work.

That's a lot of metal. I'll bet the converter had some issues and dumped a bunch of metal in the trans.

I would say the converter went bad and threw fine metal in the valve body wrecking the trannie. Happened to my 350 turbo and the fluid was silver. Mine would go forward in neutral when you rev the motor up. I was in the stating lines when I noticed it. Ran it threw the quarter mile and still had gears. Stopped before the trailer and rev it up in neutral still jump forward. Took the dipstick out it was silver and figured it was the converter. Took it apart and sure was the converter went to hell. What a mess to clean the trannie up but hurt nothing than just putting a rebuilt kit in it. Still have the same trannie in the car with a new converter in it 25 years ago. Just street drive it now and then with a 10 inch 4,000 to 4,500 converter with no problems since.

after watching this video i remembered something from a Steve Morris video. i have two questions.
did you have the car up on stands at any time and bump the trains brake?
did you use the trains brake on the Dino?
Steve talked about him doing this one time and destroyed his transmission.
the reason his transmission builder told him is that it did not have the cars weight on the wheels to help hold things back or stop things from moving.
    just something i remembered.
