- Well, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class of electric vehicles has finally arrived. It’s the Mercedes-Benzes EQS, and it’s much more than just a leather-clad luxury plug-in flagship sedan. It’s more like a whole new means of transportation that may or may not require a pilot’s license. So, come fly with us.

Can we just state, that John Davis is hosting this show for over 40 years now XD XD Man, how this must feel having introduced cars with literally no features to such high-tech vehicles today.

Almost no physical buttons? 3 screens? I don't care how "easy to operate" they make the controls, if they're behind a screen there's no muscle memory to adjust anything like there is with physical controls. Oh and whoever designed the instrument panel and made both instruments look like speedometers, GG
Impressive numbers for something weighing 6000 pounds, especially when people call the 4200 pounds Challenger Hellcat heavy.
Right? Make that nake sense. The durango n grand cherokee as well as the ram trx weigh much more yet u don't hear ppl complain about their weight n they perform strongly. Btw *4500 lbs

"A whole new means of transportation" Yeah, no. Unless by new you mean ugly, heavy, and burdened with a ludicrous overabundance of interior screen space.
Lack of a frunk in a bespoke chassis is a shame. At least it's a hatch.
I think the shape of this car is, unfortunately, where EVs are going to go very soon.

It is shocking to me that Hyundai/Kia/Genesis, in my eyes, are out-designing Mercedes and BMW.

I know right? The new BMWs (which everyone are required to buy in dark colors) are godawful.
Edit: BMW, give the new M3/M4/i4/iX a redesign (proper redesign) and then I'll let people buy them in their own colors, but until they re-redesign it, it's black or dark blue only for the aforementioned models. (No bright colors allowed ever).
Depends on the model I agree the EQ models are kinda weird looking but I love Mercedes gas vehicles the new GLC is beautiful and the GLE Coupe is my dream car. The s class is also still the best looking inside and out in its class. When it comes to bmw the ix and new 7 series are the only new bmw models I don’t like

Very nice car. Great specs and every tester I've seen loves it
I bet it could lure in the BMW i7, Maserati Quattroporte Folgore, Cadillac Celestiq, a possible Audi A8 e-tron, and a possible EV successor to the Jaguar XJ, if it does happen, in the near future, but not the Tesla Model S because that car is a rival to the Mercedes EQE, BMW i5, Audi A6 e-tron, Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, Dodge Charger EV, Genesis G80 Electrified, and Lucid Air.
Why do so many people not like the way this car looks?? I personally love it! Too many people are stuck on vanilla styling with flat lines and little personality as their version of "handsome". I love how Mercedes went daring and swoopy with this car's profile.
Bro, it looks like a Honda civic. Couldn't be more vanilla if it tried.
We saw the “Jellybean” styling in the 1980s and it had its run. Ford Taurus used it to death and so did many others. Nobody want to dance to Disco again, either.

It doesn't look like the typical Mercedes, but it's not ugly.
Can we get the team that designed the interior to design the exterior as well? Everything about this car is appealing except for the exterior style.

@@growingup4487 It's actually quite funny how new Kia's look nicer than most new Mercedes.
It's very cab-forwardn almost looks like a late 90s Chrysler or GM front wheel drive car.
Honestly it looks much better in person, i didn't like it at first but it's definitely grown on me.
It looks too much like a Tesla.
Planned obsolescence
AMG version under 3 seconds? That would be impressive for a 6K pound beast!
The AMG is faster but "only" manages 3.1. Think of it as a modestly souped up version of the 580 for 30k more. But it does have a lot of AMG bling and some additinal sonic goodies... On the inside. On the flip side its just as comfortable and quiet as the 580 so there is no sacrifice at all.
The digital dashboard is dystopia AF. What was wrong with buttons and knobs?
dont care much bout the lectric part, but I love motorweek and the classic straightforward format

Why must my OCD be triggered by 11 spoke wheels on 5 lugs? Just give it 5, 10, 15, or 20!
I feel the same with my truck 7 spoke wheels with 6 lugs.

I've seen this on the road and it's not nearly as jelly bean looking in person. It looked imposing and expensive. If not for dealer markups, that pricing is pretty reasonable and on par with the ICE S-class.

Will Mercedes consider a Maybach EQS sedan as well as the Maybach EQS SUV? Or even an AMG EQS 63 S?

Small problem with your review. You don’t look at all at the systems and systems integration. I realize it’s over your head but maybe ask for input from people that know
Although Mercedes’ is better than most, they still don’t have integrated systems which makes car systems (not the infotainment and sat nav) systems difficult if not impossible to upgrade
This will result in these vehicles getting dated very quickly with associated depreciation

Vision EQS was breathtaking but not this.
2:18 and 3:40, I'm surprised they didn't comment on the flex of the panel when pressing on it. Stinks to me of typical dreadful MB quality, give it 10-15 years and it will start falling apart. MB = biggest scam ever...

Battery replacement: $8k
I'm guessing the display screens will cost $8k & the battery about double that with labor & recycling fees.
If it's anything like Tesla the battery pack should last 300,000 - 500,000 miles or 21 - 35 years

@@Jag-leaper 2017 and later cars have the newer 2170 batteries claimed to last that long. Time will tell but many people already have over 200K miles

I’ve said this to friends and I’ll say it here. If we want a “real” car look and feel, I think we’re gonna have to be looking towards Bentley and Rolls-Royce for a true car feel in an EV.

They sold every single one they made worlwide even with 20k over msrp. More than Rivian, and Lucid put together 4000, the first model year.

I’ll keep my gas guzzler for now! I’m not convinced on electric just yet! Good luck finding a charging station on the desert! 🏜 and some of you might say! “But is the same thing with gas” ⛽️ yeah but there’s a zillion gas stations all over the place unlike electric stations!
