I couldn't have put it any better than that myself either, concerning the EQS.
Quite an interesting perspective. It's exactly how I felt after getting a chance to drive a P100D Tesla S at close to the same price point. Nice car ? Sure. £100k worth of car ? Absolutely not. Very fast, but the interior was minimalist to the point of boring. Very uninvolving driving experience. As Theo said, it felt like 100k's worth of gadgets, not 100k's worth of car. The EQS here has a far more luxurious and frankly interesting interior.
Love this with Theo and Vicki. They are both great and talk sense. Can he also be on fifth gear more.

I believe the ICE S-class is a better luxury car compared to the EQS. Mercedes is going through a techno overload phase where all their modern vehicles are crammed with tech most customers never asked for. Like a 4 cylinder hybrid in the C63.

Maybe you should invent a time machine, then you can go back to the 1930s with a manual choke and ignition retarder on the steering wheel and a gear shifter on the outside of the car...you'll finally be happy then.

He is so right. And Mercedes should listen to their customers. Calling the EQS an electric S Class was the wrong move. The EQS doesn't have the main points of an S Class...that being the rear seating amenities for people who are chauffeured. BMW took a better approach by simply electrifying the normal 7 series thus not having any compromises to the rear space. Mercedes should've done the same for the EQS and leave this electric only platform for the EQE which is basically a short wheel base EQS anyway. The EQS is a nice car, but it isn't a luxury one. The S Class is.
Bingo. The EQS is an upbadged EQE, not an S-Class replacement as Mercedes wants people to believe.

The EQS is an electric CLS, not an S-Class as Mercedes wants people to believe. It's pretty much an upbadged EQE.

Who ever is in charge at Mercedes has the wrong idea of what buyers want. They just need to make the new s class fully electric and can go faster then a Tesla p100 and lucid air sapphire..

It cannot charge to 100% in 30 minutes. It can charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes which is really good considering how big the battery pack is. Max charge rate 200 kW

beyond the point whether it's electric or not, people are right in terms of price/comfort or rather what you pay and what you get of 😅 I agree that it does not compare to S class although I support it 100% because is electric 😅
I know it won’t make a huge difference to some people, but I feel like if they showed the EQS with the cream interior, it would be more appealing.
The EQS just looks rubbish, generic, no presence and too similar to the other EQ models.

My Smart EQ is nearly four years old and is now on it's third 12V battery and it's third HV battery. Mercedes have not changed any management or running components Just Batteries.

You’ve got to be nuts to choose this thing over an S Class! If you really want to go electric the BMW i7 is a much better bet!
I think we can all agree that electric is not the way forward...in world where people die in mines everyday just so we can have the latest phone/TV/car ext...we don't have enough electricity to go around and the pollution in fabrication is off the scale...so my question is why?
The new electric EQS, if it is to compete with the traditional S Class, needs the Standing Star on the hood! Full Stop.
life is too short for these evs. and driving a Mercedes does not give you priority over anyone else at the line up at the charging station. when 10 or 15 mins at the fuel pump gets you on your way with a longer range without anxiety not hating just stating.
They could have used one with rear comfort seats. This car have zero options inside the car

BMW have got the solution right with a unified 7/i7 (ugly as it is). There should be no reason for the EQS and S-Class sedan to exist at the same time.
They should have done what BMW did and make an EV version of the REAL S Class. The S Class is a beautiful car unlike this. Who cares if its the absolute best drag efficient at this level

Don't ever get Theo on again please, the man thinks the Maybach is a better looking car or that turning up to central London in a Range Rover impresses anyone. If I wanted to know if it was "cool" or not I'd ask a teenager, I'm interested in what this car does not why Theo won't get one.

It’s a bit absurd to declare all electric cars bad.
Performance wise they’re able to achieve great things on race tracks (not just a drag strip).
They’re actually innovating within the automotive industry. Not just the power system, they’re pushing tech and design in interesting ways.
For MOST people an electric car can make a lot of sense in terms of range.
Most of the electric cars on the market aren’t things I would buy with my own money, but that’s equally true for gas powered cars.
Charge times have improved dramatically with the latest generation of cars.
Realistically, in the next handful of years they’ll start using a different chemical composition with the batteries and range will improve further.
