Thanks for sharing! In my neck of the woods, that's a very likely scenario. Curious as to what you did with front brake (full grab?) and the settings on the front ABS?
I’ve took the grab handles off my 790 and have a handle strap on to help with lifting as the handles just act like hooks - Perun moto rack on too for kriega side bags
He already admitted he made those mistakes or at least riding on the wrong side, so no use pounding him over the head with it and even throwing in a dash of criticism about panic braking that most of us would have done. When a deer for instance jumps out you hit both brakes instinctively and the rear can easily lock up even on an 800 lb Harley on pavement. He actually did a great job braking/maneuvering to the left I thought.
I thought he managed that like a pro! apart from the bad line. he managed to swerve out of the line of the car and swing the rear end out of the way of the car, all while emergency braking. it takes nothing to lock up the rear wheel on gravel when braking hard...especially with Karoo3 tyres on!
Man you did well to avoid the car!! I mean apart from the obvious being in the wrong place at the wrong time. glad you and the bike were ok. cant help but think if youd been on a yamaha youd have broken bars and would still be waiting for a tow truck! 😆

I got a fright jumped on the back brake. Locked up and engine died. Abs on in front and off at the back.

You're very lucky my friend. Thank goodness you let go of rear brake at the last nanosecond to clean that vehicle. You get to ride another day.

Grab handles appear to have reduced damage to the side panels from the damage images.
