My friends and I have been playing league of legends since season 2-3. All of us uninstalled the game in 2024 because we sadly have 0 fun in the game anymore. Yet we all watched Arcane, we all watched worlds, we all watched the cinematics that dropped, we all listened to the music released. Forgetting every single person that never touched league before Arcane, there is an incredibly large base invested in Riot's universe that would install the MMO on release day
Honestly, with the way trends are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Riot Games followed games such as Genshin Impact or Elden Ring: live service RPG set in Runeterra.
There is a market, but it’s not as big as league. Because league dominates the MOBA genre, besides dota 2, there is no other large moba that is consistently getting updates.
It was never a meme, Riot is an animation studio that happens to make game... "Should I play League that I liked Arcane?", *Seasoned League players:* "Fuck no..."
@@LeonLupin We league players wouldn't wish it even to our enemies, they shouldn't play League. People, stay away from this hell. Hell, I think Hell is much better, a paradise compared to what you go through League of Legends. Also, playing with your friends in LoL can lead to ending your friendship.
They didn't simply use 2D or 3D modeling; another artist explained it well. They did quite a mix of both, with additional effects on each layer and more hand-drawn elements on top of every frame. The complete process is definitely difficult and expensive.
Saying that 2D is cheaper is a wild statement to me. 2D is where you get a lot of the artistic expression and quality frames we expect from anime. Wild statement 😅
I would not consider myself a league player (I dabbled and only w/ friends) but I had to do this when K/DA stuff came out. Other friends were thinking abt playing and I had to be like "it is NOT the vibe you're looking for!!"
If runeterra dies with league, that is riot's fault. IP of runeterra (mainly thanks to Arcane) is now much bigger than league will ever aim to be, not utilizing that stain power would be a big fumble, a throw even @@yomu6285

@@myerhq8307holy 10 year old. League is insanely popular in Asia and league is still one of the most watched E sports every year, and consistently tops the twitch charts, having double the viewers of Minecraft and topples Fortnite even in new seasons. The only reason the game didn’t grow is because it’s a pvp game and not a story game, which is why games like fallout 4 and cyberpunk got a boost from their shows.
Damn. If only there was a game where you could explore Runeterra's universe, a game where you can be your own character and see the nuances, sights and colors of the world. Like a MMO in runeterra, wouldn't that be neat?
You guys have to understand that this universe is only built by some independant writers and designers for the moba The story and universe are limited by just being books, comics and cinematics, nothing more I was a fan of lol lore before but I'm not anymore because it's just cringe. This is just a moba game, everything else are decorative and promotion. Skins and cosmetics are made to give salary to their staff and teams. That's all, stop dreaming of something riot would do to please lore fans specially something huge like a big MMO. They need to copy a game and there's no modern MMO recently
@@maxx5731 Did you just blow in from Stupid Town? Did you miss the part of the video where Necrit said "Riot made Arcane without profit in mind"? ...Did you really think Arcane was made for shits and giggles? What about Pentakill? What about the fact that Pentakill has THREE albums? Hello? I don't think the lore is the issue here, lmao.
I can't help but look at Tryndameres comment more cynically. Because the whole "Rioters are constantly striving to make it better to be a player" doesn't really mesh well with the whole "removing free orbs, removing free rerolling, drastically reducing the number of free skins" deal. It's not just the Gacha, it's them taking and taking from f2p players. They are not making the player experience better in any capacity. Even for spenders, it's not like they'd say no to free stuff either, even if they spend money on the game regularly. So I can only take the rest of this post with more than just a grain of salt as well.
I think it's reasonable to tone down the free stuff you get in league. I started playing in the early seasons and was happy to get the end of season skin. In the later seasons I can get 20+ skins per year 100% free. So, I think they are not taking away from f2p they are toning it down as they should
I don’t think this is true at all. Yeah, Riot is removing free cosmetics, but the sheer amount of gameplay mechanics that keep the game fresh and new every year for both players and content creation is what is insane. It makes sense that Riot is charging money for what actually makes them money and they should! It’s literally what keeps the game alive and fresh. Way too many people think it’s cosmetics that make the player experience. That’s wrong. It’s the game design and the game itself that keeps people playing. If it was strictly all about cosmetics, games like LoR would survive and thrive.
Doto and even HotS did way more regarding design than LoL will ever do and one of those games are on life support. Stop glazing for LoL so hard, it's bottom of the barrel only held up by blind fans stuck in the echochamber and vacuum of game addiction.
The issue is that League is about as easy to get into as Fort Knoxx. EXTREMELY high knowledge floor, downright caustic community, no proper onboarding proccess. The absolute lack of lore and storytelling in-game doesn't help, people don't have anything to ground themselves on, the Arcane show has about as much to do with the game as a spatula has with the Large Hardron Collider.. Swiftplay might ease some issues by providing a more low-stakes experience, but it'll be a bandaid on a gaping wound.
as someone who played for 7 years, the game is kinda straight up awful compared to any other games. when i play other games with friends, we're laughing and shouting having fun. playing league was just... frustration. being frustrated and then being told or telling yourself "oh, just gotta stick this out for another 25 mins. can't give up! need to win the match!" but at the end of the day it's a video game. it should be for fun. realistically, you really should just ff and go next, to get into a more enjoyable game and enjoy your time better. but people don't play league for enjoyment, they play it for LP. league just is not worth it for people, when it's a game that puts itself first by design over your own happiness
Pls stop this bs about knowledge and skill. Everyday I see literal rabid chimps everywhere from bronze to master tier. People who are actually have knowledge and skill are in challenger, not like "i got it at the end of a season", but it's their normal rank.
Its been so long since i played league for the first time that i forgot it's not as easy as other games to get into. I only realized it when my friends all told me they dont understand what's going on half the time lol.
@@DHD10000 doubt it will the mmo along with the new show, the mmo is most likely still in pre-production, so it still has 5 to 6 years to release, the new show already been worked on for 1 year, taking in account how long they took to Arcane, i expect the new show in 3 years , 4 in a worst case scenario, they could release a single player game instead of the mmo
They can't Riot only know to copy other games, if they have to make a MMO they will copy WoW which is a bad idea because it's an outdated style of mmo. But there's nothing else to copy for riot
Wait if adding champions gives them such a negligible amount of income, why do they insist on pumping more champs into the game over reworking the super old ones that NEED the updates? I don’t see a reason not to bring every champ up to current standards. I’m aware that it would be a long and difficult process, but I imagine it would go faster if they focused efforts on that over releasing new champions all the time. Imagine getting ASUs and VGUs at the rate that they are currently making champs.
keeps the game fresh more than anything. there is at least a 1-month window where everything revolves around the new character and it increases player engagement I guess. also the new champ itself doesn't sell but their first skin definitely does, given how many people you see with skin on the 1st week of release. and reworking takes much more time, effort and budget. I definitely do think if riot wants to make the game better they have to focus on reworking for at least 2 years tho
@@shmooters5599if anything, champion reworks make the game more fresh since for every yone you have like 10 luxes and missfortunes running on low poly heels
Exactly this, i would get the legendaries, even though as a league player and champion main, Vi was robbed but not the gacha introduction, exhaulted skin is 100% profit driven through and through
Oh yes, I forgot to add. They want the Arcane series to attract players, but now let's imagine a comedy about fools (Riot Games) who are going to promote the game with the help of the series and cosmetic items in the game. But they forgot something VERY important, Riot THEMSELVES made the cosmetic items TEMPORARY, and the most important skin for Jinx was removed in a TIME-limited GACHA for 250 dollars. Good luck to the new player who wanted to play League of Legends after Arcane and buy a themed skin in this very game in half a year. Instead, he will see Vi in the default skin, with voice acting that is not canonical at all, the same with Jinx and other heroes. It's a pity @Necrit didn't notice this
It's basic level lying 101: you tell someone the thing you're doing is definitely not the thing you're doing aka gaslighting. It's easy to spot because it makes no logical sense when coming from an honest person: if he had no intention of doing X in the first place, why'd he feel the need to convince us of the opposite?
@@HighLanderPonyYT Yeah, it's literally speaking for all of Riot Games like they don't have a cash cow with 250$ dollar skins that should be like $30. That won't really matter to people who don't play league anyways, only to Arcane watchers
I don't even get the point of doing in-house minigames that can get canceled at any moment, just like shyvana's rework was shelved after her designers got fired If riot forge was safe and quite consistent in that regard
What are you waffling about? in the last 5 years we got 3 good quality games (LoR, TFT, Valorant) from riot, 2xKO comes out this year, making it 4 games in 6 years, you could include wild rift as well but i dont personally count mobile exclusives. Thats a solid production rate for any game company. Of course i would like to see more riot forge content, but that riot isnt releasing any new games or announcing them is a complete myth.
I started playing LoL a month or so ago, I didn’t have much else going on and I like Arcane. Number one problem is the focus on ranked and the insufferable rank grind for new players. Ranked is the most popular mode on LoL but for new players, at least imo, the mode does its best to not let you have fun. Loss streaks, Smurf accounts, unfair matchups, steep learning curbs are all big turn offs.
Veteran player here. There's some of unfair matchups, but till mid diamond your picks almost don't matter (in lane), you just get skill gapped, but if you play you will learn. Most popular mode is normal draft and ranked isn't suppose to be fun, it suppose to be competitive.
That would be the MMO but its gonna take years. Even without arcane, the MMO is actually getting a lot of hype simply because its from a big brand like Riot. I need it to happen asap. As for making money, Riot can make a lot of quick cash from simply selling arcane themed makeup and merch. They r dropping the ball on that...but what does a game company run by men know about women's craze for makeup 😂.
@@ssv-y2q The mmo got a "reset" because the dev team felt it was too similar to WoW. The co founder of riot went to twitter and said that they're "going dark for awhile". Probably not coming out until 2035 at this point.
I feel like simply NOT matching new players to play with and against players that have been playing for years would be, alone, a massive step for not making the game so beginner-hostile.
There is where another issue begins, how do you enforce that? Account time? But then what about the banned player creating their fourth account, IP address? What if someone wants to start playing league in my house where I have been playing for 13 years? How do you properly differentiate between a truly new player and someone experienced with the game already?
@@codebracker That is a very volatile metric tho, let's paint the scenario that's new player starts practicing a lot of last hitting because they saw that in a coaching vid, they start csing better but they still have no idea how to trade or how to play a lane, wouldn't that put them in a disadvantage now that they are in lobbies with more experienced players? Or someone that is super good winning lane and closing games but is awful at csing, wouldn't he be put on lower lobbies and have an unfair advantage over players?

Skyen at least had the decency to call them out on how Arcane can’t be canon because it just doesn’t fit with League and Necrit goes _”It’ll completely make sense, the devs told me someone picks up Hextech again later, trust!”_ and then brushes people’s concerns off. His channel has no purpose now other than reporting league news because the company doesn’t respect its own IP and yet he won’t just come forward and admit to all the lore fans how the lore is permanently damaged because of the series now, because he’s on riot’s pr list 🤷🏽♂️

Let’s be real here: Riot dropped the ball by not partnering with someone to make action figures for Arcane. The last ninja turtles movie saw figure sales skyrocket to 1 billion for 2023 alone.
There's quite a lot of League of legends official figure on the merchandise section of riot website. I haven't seen any action figure though. Just statues.
Just wanted to throw in that 2D is not necessarily cheaper than 3D. There is a misconception that because something is 3D it is more complicated and expensive to build or that 2D is simpler in some way. 2D effects for example, like smoke and fire or magic etc that are drawn frame by frame are extremely time consuming, making changes can result in a complete redo, and the artists in question are exceptionally talented and rather few and far between to get. Ive been doing lighting/compositing for 15+ years and have had the pleasure of working on shows where we had a 2D fx team that would hand-draw fx for us to comp in. These people are the peak of talent in the industry. A lot of Arcane's scenery is 2D drawn plates, and while this could be considered faster because its not a big 3D model, it in many cases is far more difficult as each shot needs a new plate painted while a 3D model can be used across entire sequences and different times of day or lighting setups. A 3D model can undergo fixes for certain areas while the show is in production and it would only affect angles where the fix is required, additionally the model can be added to for future episodes where we return to that particular set with some story changes applied to it. A painting can be used approximately one-time before it is noticeable, changes to it require far more effort. Fortiche does have a great approach with this for large city shots with individual elements that are applied to grid geometry that is placed into a 3d scene so we get nice parallax etc, these pieces can be reused quite easily. While other individual shots is a new painting every single shot which is absolutely wild to me. Side note: after years of not really being able to articulate lighting and compositing to regular folks I was excited to see Bridging the Rift and had hopes to see them display this process and had a great laugh at how that particular section of the series involved people saying "I have no idea what they do" "no I can't show you", and "I dont understand what they do, its like magic".

Legit i only remember like TokiDoki and...overpriced clothes Oh, and merch site has a nendoroid for jinx, yay Why is there like 2 figures and 3 plushies for an average Arcane fan, that cannot afford luxurious stuff? @conniefan123 it also just feels like his reputation carries him more than his actual skill. Like, psychologically, most would definitely perform worse than they should if faced against a hyped up boogeyman. And it's not like he always won, those who did for some reason didn't dethrone him or anything
The god of leagues prime is sadly dying a death of 1000 cuts right now. He should have retired to a coaching role or some other background role in the league. It’s sad to watch as an older player
@conniefan123 There's nothing "really weird" about this, it's just how the world has always worked in everything. Riot makes media focusing in him BECAUSE he is just the face of the competitive, he is the greatest eSports player in history, no one comes close to him, he revolutionized the game and as long as he is playing he will continue to be the center of attention, that is why Riot forces so many players to create an image rivaling Faker, because someone needs to be on par when he retires.
@conniefan123 That's how sports exist, Football did it with Messi/Ronaldo, Basketball with Jordan/ James, Tennis Federer/Djokovic, Boxing Ali/Tyson, I could go on and on. The problem with league is that I don't see another Faker emerging.
New player here. League is fun, but it's incredibly hard to make any progress in league now. That's the downside... Being a new player amidst bunch of old and experienced ones is frustrating as hell. For example, I can either play quickplay or normal draft pick, where I won't have any problems dominating in the match (I'm not new to the gaming, I've been a gamer for 25 years, and I've occasionaly watched my friends play LoL), but as soon as I step in the ranked mode, it's: 1 match - good, then 3, 4 in the row as if I touched keyboard for the first time in my life. There is no middle ground. And I think it's an issue of old players creating new accounts to grind and make money on, or just old players not grinding for a while and being downgraded into lower elo... No matter the downgrade, it's still a good player, so having a new and inexperienced players compete in iron ranks with bunch of former diamond and platinum players is like taking a cattle in a slaughterhouse... And then having the butchers yell and insult them during the process...
This right here is the reason I left after season one of Arcane. Tried the game, understood it, was quite good UNTIL I started to obviously play against "new accounts" that were clearly experienced 😪🥲 and the community chat is not that... charming if you're learning 😅
@dontspiki2070 My buddy was 17th in the Europe before EU server split into east and west. His OG account is now on gold rank (would've been higher if not for a fact that he's a sailor, and missed many seasons because of it). And he personally claims that there isn't a big difference in difficulty between gold and iron matches. So, yeah... Anyways, he bought another, bronze acc specifically so that we can play in duo, without me having to face even higher mmr players, so now together we get to sh** all over some of those experienced ones who intentionally play in lower elo. So I got my little revenge... But the fact that he, as a pro player, bought a bronze acc, just proves my point. It's just that he bought it and plays it for the right reasons...
@@fleurdelice777 True, but that has its downsides... It's a team game, you'll not always be fully aware about what's happening near your lane. Yeah, it's priceless to have your own peace of mind, but isolating yourself means you're exposing yourself to stuff you will not be able to see at some point.

A lot of people didn't stick to LoL because it's a niche genre that appeal to a specific audience. But MMOs are almost as much niche games as MOBAs, so I don't think it will be the best way for Riot to capitalize on the Arcane brand. A lot of people are excited about the IDEA of an MMO in the LoL universe and a lot of people will try it when it releases. But how many people will bounce out of it after playing it for a few hours ?
Underrated comment tbh. Most people will expect it to kill WoW or FFXIV when it comes out, and they'll be disappointed that it won't do that because they hyped it up too much, they'll play for about 1-3 months (about maybe 50-100 hours at most), and then they'll leave.
@@therebelofchaos1674 A complete, non-spaghetti coded and polished Runeterra MMO would certainly guillotine the heck out of World of Warcraft, the only thing that keeps Blizzard alive and well after the 2023 lawsuit debacle and Microsoft acquisition.
I miss Heroes of the Storm. That was the one MOBA that actually designed their game from the ground up to be less toxic. No runaway carry on the other side of the map getting fed by your teammates all game. No stealing CS. Games always felt way more winnable. etc. It wasn't perfect, but hot damn they got a lot of things correct. Then Blizzard happened...
HotS, despite my dislike of Blizzard as a company, was the MOBA I actually wanted to keep playing once I got over LoL and DotA2's initial shine. MOBAs are a high skill cap, high skill floor kind of game, where it becomes nearly impossible to know who is responsible when a game goes poorly. This encourages the hostility and toxicity in LoL more than anything else, I think, and HotS avoided this because it put less emphasis on the skill of individual players in a manner that there wasn't really much ground to be too mad at any particular teammate - and even if you were, games were short enough and casual enough that you could just get over it instead of being stuck with them for an hour. Bliz didn't realize that it basically could have monopolized an unclaimed niche for a casual MOBA and instead tried to compete with LoL and DotA2 on their home turf, and Blizz called it a loss. Shame.
I remember how shocked I was when I went from HotS to LoL after HotS became abandoned. I'll forever miss it, especially all the different maps/ objectives!

This the result of ignoring the concerns of your community for years. They've gotten better recently but it's too late. I don't care how fun league might be, I would NEVER recommend anyone to play it lmao and the day it dies I won't even be sad.
Game balance been really bad for really long time, new player can’t learn and have fun in the game old player can’t have fun because balance team is way too clueless to balance the game. No one is having fun playing the game every attempt when they try to fix toxicity failed and I doubt the new honor system will change anything. The new push to gatcha system is killing the goodwill of anyone that’s left, league the moba is dying and they seem to choose the wrong move every single time.
Mobile legends is more balanced , it’s easier to master most champions are beginner friendly. In league you got a lot of heroes who are so hard to master and some have a lot of counters . And they also intentionally mis match your preferred lane in ranked. And they don’t punish trolls well
You're not alone. League lore is the only universe aside 40K that I enjoy nowadays. Everything else has been ruined. For me LoL and 40K are the last bastions of geek refuge. I'd love to live to see the MMO.
Haven't fully watched it but for me the hardest part about quitting league is how it's power fantasys in game are so good that you always crave the chance to get another penta, or outplay your opponent. It has that dopamine spike that is hard to match.......until I started playing helldivers this year. Combined with the overall downward spiral of free to play content in league with the introduction of the pass and getting rid of mastery chests as well as the very volatile meta we're about to enter. Can't help but feel that the next year might be where I quit.
I was thinking the other day like "oh they should do a LoL 2 where they relaunch it with a set group of champions, complete visual overhaul and add each champion back into the game!" And I realised, that's just wild rift. I do NOT understand why they are wasting resources on a mobile game whilst the original version is in the state its in.
Maybe because to reach wider audience? And maybe because that mobile game actually makes a lot of money? Btw i personally don't play mobile games but at some points i tried mobile legends then i tried wild rift aswell.. I can say that gameplay on wild rift was harder to manage.. But there are still a lot of people that like it and keep playing it.
Because it's an entirely different development team. Why do people keep thinking that LoL and Wild Rift has anything to do with each other on back end?
I've been playing a league since December of 09. I quit playing about a year ago. I am disabled and am struggling with gameplay, but I am good in ARAMs. The problem was that every single mistake was met with extreme hostility. So until Riot fixes their toxic community legitimately, instead of half aah with their half broken honor system. I don't recommend new people play the base game unless you can handle toxicity that makes seasoned rust/cod players cry.

Plus ppl will learn to stop angrily typing if no response cuz they will think "Oh they are new and haven't turned chat on". Pings should auto turn on in ranked though
I'm a person who played League of Legends a lot and I've actually recently uninstalled. Reason being is the launcher, client whatever you want to call that piece of shit just doesn't work. @@VolgalistHand painted backgrounds are way cheaper than 3D. You not only have to model and light the whole thing, you still need to paint the textures as well.
Lot of Arcane players played league but got wrecked hard... Because they thought League was Arcane like RPG. BUT they should've been recommended to other games Riot has other than League. Lore heavy games to be recommend for Arcane fans: 1. Legends of Runeterra 2. Bandle Tales 3. Mageseeker 4. Ruined King 5. Convergence 6. Song of Nunu 7. Hextech Mayhem
In the 1980s toy companies figured out that most cost effective way to sell toys was to make their commercials for them 30 minutes long and, instead of paying TV stations for commercial air time, get TV stations to pay *them* for airing them. And in the best PR win ever, kids called them "cartoons", not "commercials", all while buying hundreds of millions of dollars of Star Wars, He-Man, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and other toys that got SO popular they remain the defining properties of toy aisles forty years later. At this point, no one remembers or cares if the cartoons themselves were profitable (although they probably were). Marketing is *supposed* to cost money and make it in sales. Content marketing wasn't invented by Riot, but for IP-based businesses its always been one of the most effective forms of advertising. Tryndamere's message to the dumb dumbs is spot on, which is why he built a highly successful company and they did not.
Sure this is a wake-up call for Riot, and they need to act immediately. Totally agree. So, what can’t they do? Create something new, not enough time. You said it-they are dealing with two kinds of problems: 1) League's complexity and 2) the toxic community. So, what can they do? Fix these problems. I don’t understand how one of the biggest companies in the world, Riot Games, doesn’t have the brains to innovate and find a way to: 1) Isolate new players from experienced ones, and 2) Break down League’s complexity into smaller chunks. Like, just create an extreme verification system so people can only have one verified account, and develop new story-driven PvE game modes to help players get familiar with champions. New players will definitely enjoy it if the stories are based on the Arcane universe, and they’ll automatically learn the game mechanics and they will want to try the summoners rift but only if they play against other new players.
And let Riot spit in the faces of their fans more often with their skins for 250 dollars, with reworks that used to come out 10 times a year and now once every 3 years, with a client that simply consists of critical errors
@@JoshuaAlto Oh yes, I forgot to add. It's a pity @Necrit didn't notice this
@@Akela3dn compare it other gacha games. They mostly sell the skin at fixed price that can't be bought with free in game items, except Arknights. They do however give free skins once in a while, usually at anniversary. The only time I see gacha skin, in game that I play, are Alchemy Star and Nikke. The skin is really good and the price is $50. It's still a lot of money but it's just 1/5 of what riot set price. Also they're rerun after a while because that brings some money.
Yeah the problem is that the games are the ones financing the series and not the other way around, league is losing players day after day and the games that are currently carrying the company are valorant and tft
Season 1 was character driven, Season 2 was Marvel-slop plot driven. Its obvious why people hate season 2 because we cared for the characters and what they go through, and season 2 just threw it out the window to try to establish their Marvel cinematic universe. The hate is definitely not for the incredible amazing artstyle Fortiche has made their name for. Literally nothing is wrong with season 2 other than the pacing and plot.
how this 2D is cheaper than most 3D to produce is beyond me. looks much better. Also dont forget Riot is owned by Tencent and Tencent speaks for itself. If League wasnt as successful as it is they would never allow "push cool things with a risk factor".
Imagine if right now, Riot would bring out a game in the style of The Wolf Among Us, but based on Arcane. It would be the first time that a pure choose-your-own adventure game would be the most sold game of the year since... I mean has that ever even happened before?
I don’t wanna play league either…..played for 10 years and I don’t miss the community, the players, the trolling, the lack of trying, the meaningless ranked system etc.
As a League player that started from season 5, it's understandable that League yearly updates of new items, newly release champions, streamers that entertain and other events can refresh and kept the game alive till now. but at some point factors like toxicity and competitive rank games has contributed to league declining popularity. but right now another factor is easily making it way to another reason players are dropping the game. At some point long term players will feel Burned out no matter what new things they add to the game. that's the same with me and My friends. my friends drop the game due to toxicity and stuff. But I didn't mind that because I was having fun. but at some point thoughts hit me like "I'm I gonna play this game till i'm old" or "I've been doing the same game the same shiit for 9-10 years now". And what's crazy is the burn out comes from playing the game. other league content that doesn't involve entering the rift are actually more fun and enjoyable. contents like Tft (where I am at right now), Arcane, Lore and the worlds series. I'm just sick of the game but the c other contents are still fresh and new.
I mean, i always joke about never get into league. Even 10 years playing, the other night some randoms start talking shit to me for having a girly name, and to my girl friend in the party, i just keep putting "what else" to make them keep writting sht, after all of that we reported those guys and the client didnt notify us about anything related to those reports, what a joke. How tf people gonna stay in the game if; 1-Is hard. 2-Characters look cool but the game is another story. 3-Regular players are a bunch of idiots.
"The Game is famously complicated to learn and its community can be hard on new players" yeah no shit! I'll continue to not advise players to play LoL but rather to go on TFT (or valorant if they like tactical fps), much simpler than this game by putting them with full smurfs when they start that crush them which is absolutely no fun at all
Around the time Arcane released, i actually played League, but in terms of competitive/ranked games, i am mostly a social gamer: I only play when friends are involved. Unless it's an event where i really want the rewards, i barely play the game solo. I have tried, but found out it's a very different atmosphere and i soon lost interest. When the show released, i got my interest back, but it only lasted until the end of the year. 2022 came along and my interest on the whole thing disappeared. When S2 was announced, i didn't even touch the game and when it came out, i found out that one of Jinx skins is the equivalent of 250 dollars and I'm like 'WTF happened!?' I have found out that there are other games, like Convergence, so i might give those a shot one day, but i cannot get into League of Legends.
1. It was made for profit. Not "easy to put on a balance sheet" profit, but it was made for profit. They just don't know if it's profitable or not yet, because even if you just look at new player acquistion for League, even there it's not really an easy thing to measure. The effects of Arcane is such that it can save League from dying a slow death (like every other service title), and can prime an audiance for new games. But none of these are easy to measure. It's the same thing as with their esports: it's not a direct income source, but it's a powerful marketing and culture building tool. 2. The MMO will never come out mate. (Neither will Star Citizen, but im sure everyone knows that by now.) EDIT: Guys, this is not a "lets crap on Necrit" comment. I personally don't believe that the MMORPG will get released in a reasonable timeframe (if it all) and saw enough rebooted service game development horror stories (i work in the industry) to know that even if it ends up getting released, its gonna be a troublesome thing. But none of this means that you should dump on Necrit because of his enthusiasm. He just want that dang game to come out. And im here just playing the grinch of reality. Chill.
Even then when the MMO comes out (which yeah tough luck believe it when i see it) Who's to say we've got another complete story and world overhaul, where champions become unrecognisable. I mean Caitlyn got an ASU for S1 and it's impossible to be canon now.
Arcane is amazing. However, nothing is worth going back to the mental and emotional anguish and pain that is League of Legends. Riot should create a new multiplayer-focused game within the League verse that isn't susceptible to the toxicity found in MOBAs. Like build a game like Helldivers or Deep Rock Galactic.
totally agree. Arcane is not a tool to push new player into league, and the fact that league's player saying "do not play league because of arcane." is telling a lot. because there is no one who hate league more that league's player. cause league sucks, its buggy toxic and so time consuming. arcane is more like a bridge for outside league fan base to finally get inside the league lores. and it's only gonna be working if there's a game that specifically focusing on the lore itself. in other words the mmo. imagine how much lore riot can put inside the mmo, how much new story they can put inside the game and how much broader they can reach.
True and since these new skins are actually like the new canon they would have given the vgu level of animations Vi and Jinx for free the old vi and jinx doesn't even have any new interactions so i don't understand giving new lore voice lines and locking them behind a paywall...
@@justhair17 True. I agree to some extent. It's egregious. But also, them caring at least a bit about money is what allows them to do stuff other than League. It's what allows them to keep Runeterra on lifesupport and do amazing games like Ruined King or shows like Arcane. At the end of the day, it's purely cosmetic. They're not forcing you to buy anything. But if you do, you help fund whatever project they do next.
Arcane season 1 is the first hight quality storytelling in an animated series in a long time. Almost everyone who understands a great writing expected an avatar the last airbender or attack on titan level of story from season 2. Ofcourse there is no way this turns out less than good with all the resources and passion riot put into it but the series focused more about setting up future projects for long term profits like you said in the end. It should have gone out as a solid masterpiece storytelling like we all wanted.
The sad thing is they could have done both. They could have concluded a solid masterpiece by wrapping up important story lines started in Arcane AND setup future projects, including characters from Arcane... For starters, if Jinx felt like she needed to leave, she could have left with Ekko (and Isha!!). Jinx being with Ekko would have allowed Vi to focus on her relationship with Cait knowing her sister was in good hands. They could have said their goodbyes and wrapped up their story in a satisfying way while still left things open for future projects. I would have been way more excited about future projects than I was after that "ending" or whatever that was, which kind of had the opposite effect. I will say I like that Christian Linke has acknowledged they made mistakes in season 2 and he has said they will learn from them... I hope so! They've shown they are capable of producing a perfect masterpiece with season1, I hope they can get back to that again going forward.
@@Tekkerue Their biggest mistake was cutting all the writers. They only had a handful for season 2, which meant nobody was around to question Amanda Overton when she spent a whole episode on her fanfic AU.
I stopped playing now that theyre pulling this gacha bs. I play Marvel Rivals now. If you didn't know, if you purchase every single skin that currently exists in marvel rivals, it would cost you about $800 Or in other words, 1 faker ahri skin, 1 exalted skin, and 2 legendary skins in league But trust me guys, Riot needs to charge that much to stay afloat
Leagues Problem is Time to Kill." its too Quick for someone to kill someone else. people get Frustrated. People stop playing. they need to Nerf Damage.
As a person who knows nothing about the film/animation industry, the 250 mili spent overall doesn’t surprise me. I mean there’s also advertising spaces they had to pay for, creator collaborations and artists they paid for. The premier space for season 1 had to be paid for as well as everyone working that event. Animators and staff get paid and probably way more they adds to the bill. So it really doesn’t surprise me with today’s currency.
i mean lets put everything Arcane aside, league gets 0 love since years. compare wildrift with league. yes ofc. Wildrift is more popular and everything, but league as the OG game gets literally 0 attention from riot. we are breadcrumbed since years and still barely anything changhes. why would you play a game that wont change at all even with a success like Arcane?
I really don't think having to do multiple 2D paintings that have to be arranged on a 3D map custom-rigged for every shot on top of actual 3D models on top of tons of 2D effects drawn frame-by-frame and entirely hand-painted flash frames breaking the whole thing up plus other stuff I'm forgetting is actually cheaper than... just making it all 3D.
Wait... 2D painting is expensive than 3D, that's why we change everything to 3D. Disney movies are all on 3D now. It's cheaper than panting images one by one.
It depends. 3D can be more expensive depending on what you're trying to do. The reason 2D was cheaper for them was because they could keep it static. So instead of building different environments from the ground up, they can just draw it and keep it static. Cheaper and probably looks better.
not exactly. if you have to render backgrounds in 3d you'd have to detail EVERY piece in 3d whereas if it's 2D you'd only have to worry about a flat piece
*my dream is a runeterra rpg (singleplayer pref) with all the characters (champions), all the places, all ther tales, all the universes, i honestly play the game because i like the characters i main*
I think after RIOT MMO release, creation of their cinematic universe will IMMEDIATELY pay off. Imagine having shows, good movies and spin off games about warcraft. Sounds like a wet dream really.
@Virtduality pretty sure they said first half of 2025 when it got removed last but you never know with riot ALTHOUGH if it was during the noxian season it would be pretty cool to have it be like a gladiator arena or something
I mean idk man league IS a really good game that's for sure but because of how huge and complicated it has become it isn't able to freely welcome new players unless they have nothing else going on in their lives. The warnings are mainly for the in-game community.
Default in-game chat to off, so that the new player experience is ping-only. That alone will drastically improve play experience. I've played League with all chat off for years. It's way more chill, and you can concentrate mostly on your own mistakes and just play the game.
@ it’s impossible to do though, the got rid of so many narrative workers, ever since then anything lore based is super lack luster, you need good lore for a game like that. even the noxus season thing so far seems extremely lackluster so far, even though necrit tried to hype it up as much as possible.
I'd rather have a single player experience. MMOs just dilute the gameplay. To make it repetitive and grindy as possible. And the story is usually very uninteresting. Because the goal is content over quality.
honestly i would love another story like the 'Ruined King' game. The game was fun and well designed. I loved their vision on a turn-based fighting game and definitly would enjoy one that could potentially be way bigger.
they should let cinemas diffuse the episode pers acts 3 by 3 for the price of a regular movie. I would LOOOOOVE to pay a ticket to see that on the big screen and with amazing sound.
It's funny because I couldn't sleep and thought about this. The biggest issue with LoL is that Riot has never made it new player friendly. The tutorial is so bad it's built around teaching you to pick a champion, hit minions, hit turret, kill enemy champs, win game. At it's core it is the basics, so fair, but it doesn't teach you about the basics of a role and all the little game mechanics needed to succeed in a LoL match (or least generally play ok). Even though I've been playing since s2-s3, I'm still terrible and haven't picked up on some mechanics, but when I see people even newer than me making clear obvious mistakes, it's disheartening. I have seen some people play LoL because of Arcane. Hololive is a good example. Just that I wouldn't recommend LoL to any new comer, even if you watched arcane. Honestly I'd only suggest TFT as its the least toxic part of the LoL community and fairly easy to pick up once you get it. Even then that's only like...a third of LoL and it's game modes.
"We are not making things like Arcane to sell skins" flash forward to the 250 bucks gacha Jinx scam, removal of various ways to farm freely skin chests, etc etc. Riot has been slowly pushing the limits over the years to see how far people will agree being stepped on, pushing further and further prices and removal of what little free content was present via events. Skins remains as pricy as ever despite being put on characters with models that are a DECADE behind in quality, all while mobile League gets brand new models AND skins you pay for because "They look better on that new model" as further money grab. They push up prices and ways to make money at any given chance while on the other hand firing artists who made some of their most successful skinlines because "times are hard", Riot just cannot be trusted, give them your hand they'll cut your arm.
You just prove his point you know that? "We are not making things like Arcane to sell skins", "we're selling skin to make Arcane", that's why gacha go in.
Even though arcane is basically a masterpiece of animation and storytelling, I’m pretty sure 99% of the players would rather have their favorite game be playable instead of an awesome show every few years… League’s problems keep cascading because bugs go unaddressed, outdated champions aren’t getting reworked (or the ones that are get reworked poorly), balance patches are a joke, and by Tryndamere’s own admission, they focus almost completely on skins. No one is going to be buying skins if no one is playing the game…
The controversy from the recent article (from my understanding) wasn’t mismanagement but Riot and Hollywood operating under two separate standards/definitions of success. It’s fucking dope that Riot wants to be experimental and great high quality products, even expensive for a streaming show, but if Riot really wants to be apart of Hollywood (or receive investment from them) then they are going to have to play by their rules. Which could (probably more like it) mean a dip in quality. I hope I’m wrong. I love Riot commitment to high quality content, goal of familiarizing the masses to their IP, and keeping creative control over their stuff. However, I fear Hollywood won’t be receptive to if they keep making things that are commercially disappointments.
My friends and I have been playing league of legends since season 2-3.
All of us uninstalled the game in 2024 because we sadly have 0 fun in the game anymore.
Yet we all watched Arcane, we all watched worlds, we all watched the cinematics that dropped, we all listened to the music released.
Forgetting every single person that never touched league before Arcane, there is an incredibly large base invested in Riot's universe that would install the MMO on release day
Tft is fun tho
Honestly, with the way trends are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Riot Games followed games such as Genshin Impact or Elden Ring: live service RPG set in Runeterra.

The issue is that League is about as easy to get into as Fort Knoxx. EXTREMELY high knowledge floor, downright caustic community, no proper onboarding proccess. The absolute lack of lore and storytelling in-game doesn't help, people don't have anything to ground themselves on, the Arcane show has about as much to do with the game as a spatula has with the Large Hardron Collider..

keeps the game fresh more than anything. there is at least a 1-month window where everything revolves around the new character and it increases player engagement I guess. also the new champ itself doesn't sell but their first skin definitely does, given how many people you see with skin on the 1st week of release. and reworking takes much more time, effort and budget. I definitely do think if riot wants to make the game better they have to focus on reworking for at least 2 years tho
Pretty much, it's easier to make a new champion and a skin for them than redesign an older champion and 5+ skins.

@ what’s normal draft like? I’ve just done quickplay and ranked.

Side note: after years of not really being able to articulate lighting and compositing to regular folks I was excited to see Bridging the Rift and had hopes to see them display this process and had a great laugh at how that particular section of the series involved people saying "I have no idea what they do" "no I can't show you", and "I dont understand what they do, its like magic".

the moment faker retires at least 40-50 percent of people will stop watching lol esports
I'll honestly start watching it more. He's great but the amount of glazing the riot company pushes for him financially is actually really weird
@dontspiki2070 best thing I've done so far in the game was turn off the chat.

Yeah, client sucks & the layoff really made things worse.
@@JoshuaAlto No it's not. Not a single engineer got layoff, if i'm not wrong.
@@JoshuaAlto Oh yes, I forgot to add. It's a pity @Necrit didn't notice this
You seem like a very happy individual who has lots of friends that love being around you 😊
@@Akela3dn compare it other gacha games.
And that is perfectly fine. Their better at being an animation studio with a couple games.
Yeah the problem is that the games are the ones financing the series and not the other way around, league is losing players day after day and the games that are currently carrying the company are valorant and tft
@mantraki right, but they're expanding into other realms so they arent dependent on em.
'people think we make Arcane to sell skins, but we make skins to make things like Arcane'. So alternate reality star guardian series when??lol
Arcane made me fall absolutely in love with the world, and I would LOVE to get more. As soon as Riot makes a game that is not a toxic PvP shithole.
how this 2D is cheaper than most 3D to produce is beyond me. looks much better. Also dont forget Riot is owned by Tencent and Tencent speaks for itself. If League wasnt as successful as it is they would never allow "push cool things with a risk factor".
3D environments and props are way more time consuming to create. Anything that doesn't need to be animated frame by frame is way cheaper to do in 2D
Imagine if right now, Riot would bring out a game in the style of The Wolf Among Us, but based on Arcane. It would be the first time that a pure choose-your-own adventure game would be the most sold game of the year since... I mean has that ever even happened before?
they killed riot forge
@@UserName-vt8ly you didnt watch the video
I don’t wanna play league either…..played for 10 years and I don’t miss the community, the players, the trolling, the lack of trying, the meaningless ranked system etc.
I will believe Riot sells skins to make cool things when they put the Jinx skin on sale for about 90% off.
My most toxic trait. Is getting other people to play league or legends with me.
When S2 was announced, i didn't even touch the game and when it came out, i found out that one of Jinx skins is the equivalent of 250 dollars and I'm like 'WTF happened!?'
I have found out that there are other games, like Convergence, so i might give those a shot one day, but i cannot get into League of Legends.
(Neither will Star Citizen, but im sure everyone knows that by now.)
EDIT: Guys, this is not a "lets crap on Necrit" comment. Chill.
i wish ppl would stop bringing it up, even if it does come out, it’ll be like 10+ years from now
The MMO literally will come out as there are people working on it currently. It will come out eventually even if it takes a long time to flesh out.
@ well yeah not anytime soon and something as big as an mmo can be cancelled in production, i think this is their third try?
@@rayinchrist1 Yes, because it is a well known fact, that every game ever worked on, got released.
Even then when the MMO comes out (which yeah tough luck believe it when i see it) Who's to say we've got another complete story and world overhaul, where champions become unrecognisable.
I mean Caitlyn got an ASU for S1 and it's impossible to be canon now.
they have such an opportunity to make a AAA single player action RPG with all this lore. Would be soooo easy and awesome
I quit a year ago. I just like coming back and seeing people be mad about the same things they've been mad about the last 10+ years
Arcane was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. This is the first time I've bought merch and purchase art of Jinx and Ekko for my wall.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
@@LT_I_AM GLAD TO HAVE MADE YOU HAPPY ANON

Riot's MMO is basically equivalent to GTA VI at this point
Its hard to believe arcane was not to sell skins when the Jinx skin costs so much
And then people buy it so they can make more stuff like Arcane. So what he says still checks out.
@Whitedudeabove kinda, but if they cared about their community and not purely money, they wouldnt make a skin that costs 250
@@justhair17 and if the skin was cheaper more people would buy it in the end earning them more money possibly
It should have gone out as a solid masterpiece storytelling like we all wanted.
yea arcane 1 reminded me of late clone wars. good shit
If you didn't know, if you purchase every single skin that currently exists in marvel rivals, it would cost you about $800
Or in other words, 1 faker ahri skin, 1 exalted skin, and 2 legendary skins in league
But trust me guys, Riot needs to charge that much to stay afloat
Oh yes, Arcane is Riot's take of 1.50 dollars hotdog of Costco.

its too Quick for someone to kill someone else.
people get Frustrated.
2D is cheaper cost-wise for some reason.
Look at the price of 2D films vs 3D films, the 3D is always more expensive.
@@aveshlutchman8573 hope we go back to 2D, it had more soul than the 3D movies we got now days.
@@aveshlutchman8573 2D drawings is cheaper than 3D modelling, but 2D animation is more expensive and more time consuming than 3D animation
not exactly. if you have to render backgrounds in 3d you'd have to detail EVERY piece in 3d whereas if it's 2D you'd only have to worry about a flat piece
*my dream is a runeterra rpg (singleplayer pref) with all the characters (champions), all the places, all ther tales, all the universes, i honestly play the game because i like the characters i main*
Playing League of Legends after watching Arcane is like trying to cook meth after watching Breaking Bad. Not a good idea.
I think after RIOT MMO release, creation of their cinematic universe will IMMEDIATELY pay off. Imagine having shows, good movies and spin off games about warcraft. Sounds like a wet dream really.
They removed arena and wonder why 20% of their player base disappeared
Yeah... they quit updating it and wondered why the amount of players decreased xd
Does anyone knows if arena is coming back?
@@maurocurti2471 probably not.
@Virtduality pretty sure they said first half of 2025 when it got removed last but you never know with riot
ALTHOUGH if it was during the noxian season it would be pretty cool to have it be like a gladiator arena or something
I wish Riot would hire Necrit. Then we can finally have stable lore.
It's way more chill, and you can concentrate mostly on your own mistakes and just play the game.
as a League player... im saying... WE NEED MMO!
well keeping saying it but it’ll be out like 10 years from now if it ever gets made.
No, we need more single player character focused experiences. No more shilling MP, go single, go big.
No, we need LoL but dungeon crawling pve coop.
Btw i uninstalled league about 3 weeks ago and i feel like i'm in heaven
9:12 YES! 😂😅
honestly i would love another story like the 'Ruined King' game.
@@peacepham7838They made Arcane to sell skins. Period
I think people forget just how huge League is outside of NA
12:38 massive?
