I think the biggest improvement arcane did with jayce was his face. He has these big eyes full of heart and soul and an easy handsomeness that makes him so charming, but it also makes it so when he expresses anger there is a petulance or ignorance in his face that rises to the surface and corrupts his kind nature.
i think its the biggest improvement for everyone in arcane. the faces, the EMOTIONS, every character looks so human, so real. designers and animators did an amazing job, absolute cinema 🙌
@@memezida1 it is AMAZING! These are animated characters with eye acting. EYE ACTING!! In season one when Jayce and Viktor have their argument on the bridge when Viktor turns in anger and annoyance his nostrils flare!! It is and incredibly small and subtle movement that took god knows how many man hours to produce but it is so human and real. The level of detail put into the designs and their animation is like nothing else. Don't even get me started on how much I love their teeth.
this is what I was thinking. All we saw were a painted mural and I guess that was a bar relief in the temple. Artistic renderings of a person don't necessarily show what they actually look like. We need Janna herself to appear to pass judgement on.
Part of me really wants to believe this as through the passage of time and the word of mouth effect people would see who Janna is very differently than the original Shuriman settlers (Makes 1000% sense). However riot has sort of made it really clear (unintentionally) with other gods/ spirits that Humans have this sort of unfounded remberance of their images - So i feel this is moreso a zaun skin (much like Kindred) the LoR redisign is based in Bilgewater
@@Skeletonarchmage warwick has wolverine esc regen powers and becomes more wolf life whenever he does or something like that, perfect way to set up his more animal appearance
Otherworld Jinx was so cool to me because it kind of parallels what people with mental health difficulties go through. Aint nobody gonna tell me that Jinx doesn't have a predisposition towards either depression or some other mental health disorder, but she seems to heal in this dimension. There's evidence of her overcoming VI's death and accepting it and her place in the world. Don't get me wrong, base Jinx goes through a lot, but I loved this what if scenario.
Powder was already building bombs as a kid. Like they didn't work or amounted to a glitterbomb, but she did fully intend for some of them to be grenades. And uh, nobody said anything. They got into fights and she built them to defend herself, but those kill people. I'm really not sure if she just never grasped what that would do to someone or if nobody cared (i'm pretty sure Vander would not appreciate murder). Obviously people with mental health issues don't just start building bombs, but it's symbolic of how early and easily her environment taught her to use her skills to destroy things. I feel like Otherworld powder was encouraged to build more fun contraptions and less grenades.
"Aint nobody gonna tell me that Jinx doesn't have a predisposition towards either depression or some other mental health disorder" -> I don't understand this part. We have no way to know if she has genetic predisposition or not because in the parralel universe the 1st scene of the show where her parents die in front of her on the bridge happens as well. Hard to come up with a more traumatic event than that for a child. So in both universes Powder has acquired trauma, we don't know about genetic predisposition.
@@Attya-y2y Her breakdown when Vi initially leaves her at The Last Drop is the biggest indicator in my eyes. Her open mouthed sobbing, screaming, hitting herself and destroying her inventions is strikingly similar to an autistic person experiencing a meltdown (saying this from experience). During the same scene we also see a little bit of the glitchy/sketchy effects that always accompany Jinx’s psychosis and hallucinations.
This is unrelated to the video but I’ve come to realize that Viktor’s whole arc in season 2 parallels legacy Skarner, (peaceful hivemind that’s related to hextech gets destroyed by piltoven connected to the Talis family) and that Viktor becomes a inhuman champion. No wonder Nickyboi loves this new Viktor, no shade there.
I got the vibe that Viktor's arc was similar to Soraka, where the more she heals others, the more it hurts her. Also Soraka being celestial really made me feel like she could've had this very same story and been part of it.
When i saw Viktors new mask, man i LOVED IT He has his face split, shed, and he has a rune halo, a weird triangle claw that looks so unnerving, and glowing yellow eyes Designers cooked a meal never before seen But for clarification i don't like that they deleted the cyborg that was old viktor and put a mage in his place I want puppetified jayce as a skin btw
If, and only if, he is a mage from the Jayce flashback, then nope, you can become a mage from Arcane exposure. Walks like duck, talks like duck kind of thing. Reminds me of old Twisted Fate's bio where he became a mage through being a lab rat. @@itsgonnabeokay9341
When I watched the show I wasn't sure about the face mask bc I didn't know which eyes to look in?? But maybe that's the point. Like it's meant to be uncomfortable and to show that it's not just a mask he could take off, but that the arcane has infected him fully
I love how Arcane Hemier and League Heimer are literally just different people. One refuses to invent things that hurt people, the other invents everything that hurts people. Rockets, bombs, turrets, super rockets, super bombs, super turrets! It's hilarious
26:29 I always saw Janna's design in Arcane as the Zaunite interpretation of the goddess, whereas LoR's is the Shuriman version. In that instance, her darker colors make more sense in Zaun given the location and climate of the Undercity
3:05 the guy who sings this song is called "tongo" hes a peruvian singer who passed away not so long ago, im peruvian and i really appreciate seing that nicholas male is a man of culture
Its because it never happened. In that world jayce never knew the future, he listened to viktor and was charmed by the new world he would create. When he tried to stop viktor it was already too late. He never time travelled, neither shot viktor, neither did viktor need a "healed" body. Thats why he never became the machine herald and kept human features.
But they didn't really. I mean, yes. In the "machine" part, but if you want to personality as described by his bios and premise and all that, Arcane Herald Viktor is closer than the Machine Herald ever was: -Altruistic idealist -Seeking to perfect humanity in order to save it from itself -Both frightening, but also someone one might seek out -Eventually willingly deletes his emotions. And actually does so. -Mix of religious and scientific in theming. -Actually inhuman by the end -Actually a threat on a global scale, which, with the exception of the Battle Cast universe, MH Viktor never actually felt like he went beyond some loonies in Zaun. Most importantly you can actually see and believe his fall from grace. You can see his personality, the insecurity, the bottled rage, the arrogance, the fear. In game Viktor was just a super villain they put a different backstory on without changing how the character acted. Even in LoR at his least maniacal he's still ridiculous. And I say this as someone who likes the Machine Herald. I say "ridiculous" and "super villain" with all the affection in my comic book loving heart. I just really like the changes they made, that they brought him closer to the idea that MH is advertised as, and that the changes are not as drastic as ppl think. Unless you were in it for the machines.
They should've at least brought it back as a Traditional skin or something. Traditional skins are a reworked champ's old design brought back as a skin, correct? Surely they have to be aware of how many are fans of his old design. I think they should also do the same for Skarner, just imagine the new design but as a crystal.
What it, hear me out. This is the reverse. She is so used to using the Lor form that she forgot herself how she look like so when she don't need a particular design, her default is just this balck cloak cuz in the end she don't have anymore face to be "herself"
@@lavandieredenoz I feel like either one works for her charecter. And I honestly feel its better left unanswered. Leblanc is defintely the type of person who would probaly just rock her normal face and nobody would ever guess she wasnt just using another disguise
@@brodyestes2376 not sure if this is too niche, but theres a character from a novel called Heaven Official's Blessing that pulls off this exact concept. He's a ghost king (hard to explain sorry) who changes his appearance constantly. When he meets the main character he's wearing a disguise, but tells him that the next time they meet he'll show his real face. He does this, and none of the ghosts know its his actual face, thinking it's just another disguise, whereas the main character immediately realizes. Im not giving the plot justice with my explanation here, but it was done really well.
I love how, despite everything that happened to her at that point, Fractured Jinx when she appears in the scene looks so...peacefull, like her face is so serene for what she is about to do. I think the effect of Ekko repeating over and over to convince her to stay really had an impact, i just love that version of Jinx Also goth Vi is real and i love it
@@MrIljuha2000 From her perspective sure, but she was looking at the Z-Drive in that scene so maybe he explained it to her off-screen while they were getting the airship ready to show up at the finale? Also its kinda funny that Convergence's message was all about "Hey Ekko, maybe don't use time travel to save-scum human interactions or you will turn into a manipulative sociopath" and then Arcane is here going "No Ekko, TOTALLY use time travel save-scumming to save yo' girl. The Final Battle literally hinges on it"
Evolved Viktor looks so good in Arcane, but man oh man, it looks so lackluster in game. The disconnect there is crazy and I don't know how it got bungled so badly
I love how Viktor’s mask splits open his face and emerges from it It’s as if his new form broke out of the shell that was his old body, he’s gone beyond human and on to the next stage, the final glorious evolution
I do like LeBlanc’s Arcane design, but I also really like the LoR design. Ideally when she gets a rework/VGU maybe they could combine elements of both. I really like the new Viktor design-wise, but I dislike that he doesn’t really have the robotic aspect anymore. He’s more like a magic alien than a robot, and I understand why fans of him being a robot guy would be disappointed.
And the thing it could have robotic elements with magic, because the original has both (more leaning the robotic side). Imagine like a organic robot, IT WOULD BE COOL!!
I agree. I think they could've kept the new mask/face, which I actually really like, but made his body more like his automaton army bc they actually look like robots. But instead of white, it could be black & purple.
my only issue with the victor rework is that Old Viktor looked like he'd still beat the snot out of you, which for a spell slinger mage, is kinda rare. I think there's 3 other mages that have that body type. And I dont mean actively runs up and knocks you out, I mean, if all else fails, the magic, the machines, he can and will fist fight you until one of you stops breathing. which was really funny.
His version of casting spell was notably lobbing around gadgets and viktor can build items that make him tanky. I loved his running animation. Just some dude jogging around a chaotic battlefield of magical creatures.
i think Arcane Viktor final evolution is cool as hell. But. It shouldn't have replaced what we had in the game, couldve been such a sick legendary skin imo.
As an Arcane watcher I agree. I feel bad for all the league players and fans who have been passionate about this character for years just for him to get replaced. I love Arcane Viktor but I do think his league lore is very interesting too and it's kind of a shame they didn't go into that direction but at the very least they shouldn't replace him in-game.
Yeah, I totally agree. I think he is now closer to what Viktor was advertised as), but he is different from how he actually acted, which is a bummer to lose. And as someone who HATED a lot of what MCU did to my fav (Hawkeye, shut up) I would have been so pissed and distraught if they had just deleted proper Clint Barton in favour of his blank ass farmer dad persona. Keep both. That is the point of League, isn't it? Choices even in one character?
I love that we put S as a rating to indicate peak and now it's not enough and we have to put more and more +'s on it. Gotta love too that THE HIGHEST and SPECIAL rank just has 90% of the characters in it
The way I think about it, the new viktor design isn't the problem. Like, it is good, I love it too. But the problem is what we're leaving behind, viktor's old originality, now it's just another crazy mage (malzahar intensifies).
And also just a mage in general, we already have so many of those And he was also a scientist that wasn't outright evil, juxtaposing Singed in this way, and other destructive engineers, which for some reason are all yordles Old Viktor served a very specific unique fantasy, and instead of improving upon a concept, they just gave up and made him someone else Which is fine for Arcane, if it was a separate universe, but it is sad now Same with Skarner, he had a unique fantasy and now is a boomer force of nature that doesn't want people to change, oh hello Volibear why are you here haha Gentrification of league of legends is really sad yeah
@MrIljuha2000 old viktor flip flopped between being an arguably okay person to literal metal Hitler. Even if you liked old viktor lets not lie or pretend he wasn't incredibly mishandled by riot
Literally nothing was original about old Viktor. He did fit a niche that no one else was in only in vague concept, but he's Doctor Doom with a different color palette. The biggest mistake Riot did was to try to dumb down the Arcane design, they made it look way more human than it actually was and thus created a weird situation in which the metallic 10ft tall steampunk mannequin mage in Arcane now looks like a weirdly dressed twink with purple skin. Imo if they kept the Arcane design ppl would be less upset, because that one looks more mechanical than the OG design.
Dont make fun of me but lowkey want to see an Arcane side/background character tier list. Steb, Sevika, Lest, Local cuisine, Noxian Pantheon guy, that one rat-cat(?) chem baron... 😭 25:26 I personally thought the end of Orianna's story overall was that she doesnt even have a sliver of humanity left after giving it all away. Her kindness ate away at her, until se was no longer human. A reverse pinnochio in a sense.
This list is basically on point. Genuinely couldn't agree more with each ranking. Well besides 1. Cmon man put my boi Last Stand Ekko into S+ tier PLEASE. But I can live with it cause Firelight Ekko is indeed a banger design. Personally Last Stand Ekko is just so damn cool. The Z drive and the general aesthetic just goes so hard and it's probably my favorite design from the show. I also adore how he shares body paint with Jinx visually signifying not only the two of them as a duo but that a lot happened off screen between the final battle and Ekko saving her life. It also makes the ending with him alone on the roof hit so much harder.
Until I saw the ending, I thought the multiple scenes in which the murk wolf's head was shown in the background of Signed's lab were foreshadowing Warwick's full transformation.
I feel like when Vander-Warwick got his face esploded it could have easily been a transform point into more game-accurate ww by saying the rapid healing from the wolf side healed back as wolf Tbh I fully expected that to be the case when we saw him again but it was just stoic monster man
I like warwick's design in arcane because he actually looks like a messed up experiment, you can tell that it was a human body twisted into that animalistic shape and it makes it so much more horrifying, league warwick is just a generic werewolf with chemtech augments. Glorious warwick does suck ass though I'm not gonna defend that design lmao.
Right? He's supposed to be the result of a cruel experiment of combining man and beast and his Arcane design shows it very well. Even in his expression, you can see him struggling. Using his League design would just be playing it too safe and I think some scenes wouldn't have hit as hard, imho. Also, he kind of reminds me of Beast from Beauty and the Beast. I could be wrong, but looking at some concepts, I think his "man-wolf" design was considered right from the get-go. I don't hate his change due to Viktor's influence, but it definitely feels like they could've let him fully transform, but decided against it. At the very least, they did confirm in an interview that he does fully transform after Arcane. Maybe they should've hinted at that near the end at least. EDIT: Also correct me if I'm wrong, but in the game lore, he dies and that triggers his final transformation, right?
As a Warwick enjoyer, I really do dislike the lack of muzzle. If Warwick had been ""killed"" and his head destroyed by Isha's Big Bang Attack and he didn't show up again until maybe, like, an ending scene... I'd be disappointed we didn't get full Warwick in Arcane but, oh well; water under the bridge. He'd get there eventually as things progressed. The evolution-ed Warwick, though, is what really leaves the sour taste in my mouth. I just don't see how it's plausible for Warwick to go from that to his League version. And I think that's the real problem. Arcane being made Mainline Canon instead of just another AU is great for some characters, but I think it's awful for others.
@@Firesti The only way I could see it happening is that maybe the explosion + "glorious evolution fuckery going away" makes it so the head has to reform and now with vander dead-dead the Beast takes over completely and grows a tail I guess
@@Firestii for sure thought he was gonna go full warwick after being blown up and regenerated, literally “losing his head” and having the beast head taking full control. Ideally if arcane was longer I’d like evolution warwick to not exist at all, they could’ve just ditch his corpse after the blood transfusion with viktor thinking that he’s dead just for him to be still alive and roaming zaun in the epilogue or smth.
I REALLY hope we get to see more of Orianna. It feels like a teaser since it was lined up with the Swain teaser as well, but man I just hope that we actually get her character interacting in the story this time. Feels like there's so much they could do with Orianna now that she's Singed's daughter, since Singed will be responsible for a lot of character arcs in the Invasion of Ionia.
Man I wish Heimerdinger had more screentime this season. He had an interesting arc but a lot of it feels like it happened off screen. Honestly feel like I can say this for a lot of characters this season lmao.
If you understand Viktor’s principle of «fixing» things, then you’ll get why Warwick looked like that in the end. The relative «imperfections» were supposed to be fixed. That’s why he is standing more upright and not «hunched». He is exactly less wolf in the final form. The chemtech injector is also gone. Viktor removed the predator and human, and left us with a shell - just like all the other «mannequins»
I literally had to stop and comment for Vi because her character design is such an inprovement I simped immediately, esp those back muscles with the tattoos? League Vi couldn't compete
Jinx's redesign makes me remember when they made Spider Gwen into a Venom host, and then made Venom's mouth be her hoot, that was absolute cinema level of design
As a Warwick main Vander: S+, I love him, he is better than what i imagined for Warwick being in his human form Vander/Warwick: S, at first i wasn't sure about his design but the action, the story the whole act 2 made me love him Glorious Evolution Warwick: F- , this is my biggest complain about Arcane, im still mad about how dirty they did my boy in act 3 design and story wise
They def should've closed his story by giving his Glorious Evolution design a muzzle. ATP Vander is lost forever, and we don't need to see his humanity under the beast because there's none left, so why not just complete his transformation into a beast there and then? I was disappointed
I still find it impressive how there are people defending leblanc's current design when every single other design from other products like arcane or lor are significantly better like ANYTHING can be considered as an improvement than the weird half naked waifu we have
Current design for me is the LOR design, she is a great representation of public persona noxian noble Leblanc, while the shadow is the leblanc that imprisoned mordekaiser
My only problem with Viktor is that I was excruciatingly hyped to see the league version of him seeping into Arcane and not the opposite. I love the design, but League Viktor could have been treated differently
I totally agree that they should have kept LoL Viktor the same, but I will argue that Arcane Viktor is closer to what LoL Viktor is advertised as (altrusitic idealist seeking perfection, corrupted by hubris and experimentation, well meaning but also sinister and uncanny). Ultimately the problem is that there is no reason both cannot exist at once. Here's the Machine Herald in League, here is the Arcane Herald in Arcane. It seems so counter intuitive in a game that has had AUs baked in. Sorry for all the edits I wrote the first bit at five in the morning and had more thoughts when my brain caught up.
I was disappointed at Warwick's lack of snout and tail, but it was fine because I could justify it as a potentially "still in the process of transforming" type of thing. But Act 3 disrespected him so fucking bad by making him a random mindless minion but slightly bigger.
I want to point out a really neat detail about Arcane Fractured Jinx on her opening shot. At 4:46, you can kinda see what I'm talking about. The hood has all of these teeth and such like some kind of creature or monster, and her long bang just kinda hangs down like the creature's tongue. It's just a neat little bit of design that's only visible from one angle and that's kinda neat.
There’s something to be said for a tier list with a bunch of S+ tier-ranked characters, it definitely gives a lot of appreciation to the pure quality of each design rather than saying ‘there’s already 4 S+ tiers so this really amazing design is only an A tier’ kinda thing. Absolutely love it, these designs are (almost) all peak 😌
Personally, Viktor’s design is great, love the idea of him being an artificial mage and possibly being connected to the void. I just feel like they should’ve combined it with the previous concepts where he had elongated robotic arms and added other tech to his staff. Just have it merge with his body, making it bio-mechanical.
Wait, really? I mean, I mained the guy for a while, and all I remember is his stupid faux-slavic, robot-garbage-truck accent, plus some stray earworms, like, "JON DEGLOBVIOUS EBULWOOTION," and "FUCK SHIT OBVER FOURB."
It makes me think of MCU, like I would have been PISSED if they erased comic Clint Barton for movie Clint Barton. I like Arcane Viktor more than League Viktor (altho I do love League Viktor), but there is no reason why both versions of the character couldn't exist.
my favorite caitlyn design is actually in S2 act 3 with the ponytail and “slimmer” version of her imperial outfit. no wonder vi launched herself at her.
Because it'll actually be right? NickyBoi, for all his cowering everytime he sees "straight" horny, is utterly mind controlled by "queer" horny. If OG LeBlanc had been gay since release, he'd be drooling over the OG design. Viktor's new design is such a foreign concept from original Viktor, from lore, to origin, to visuals. Its done in such a way that feels disrespectful to fans of original Viktor, while every other character's design feels like homage to the source material, rather than a slap in the face.
@@thedailypersonsopinion2099 preference i get, but calling them dogshit when champs like Aatrox or Morde are consistently like 10x more popular than they used to be is wild 💀
i find it even more strange that in an army of faceless aliens who are no longer human, warwick, the wolf man, the biggest monster in the army, still has a face. even viktor barely has a face anymore, but warwick has one that seems slightly less monstrous than what it was before EDIT: I actually really like Janna's design in Zaun because it's a representation of how religious figures or deities can be represented differently across the regions where people worship them. So I like both Zaun Janna and LOR Janna because the people of Zaun give her their own cultural elements in her appearance.
to play devils advocate, warwick was not a human, he was full of singed chemtech and mutagens, he is definitely more of a mutant than a human. So viktor affecting warwick differently from other humans makes sense to me. Also, i would double down and argue that Warick was not evolved by same means everyone else did. i think signed used warwick one last time as a lab rat to make sure putting skye into his daughter would bring her back to life AND keep her alive no matter what happens to viktor.
I love how excited you are about all designs (I am as well). I think you explained your thoughts about all the different characters very well and it definitely made me appreciate some more or see how some could've been improved. It was also interesting to hear more about the comparisons between the league and arcane designs.
Ascended Viktor (or time wizard) is honestly really peak af. He's accomplished his goal, he's won. He's achieved perfection, but there is nothing to strive for. I'm not sure if Viktor feels remorse at that point, but one thing he does know is that what he did, isn't right. Before Jayce and Viktor vanish, we see him drop several different runes into Jayce's hand, so that begs to differ: how MANY times has he won, before Jayce does? I think that point got slept on because it really finishes his character arc. Once you reach perfection, what is there left to strive for? You 100% missed that point there, but it's your opinion.
the dearly beloved playing as au jinx is being rated 😢 really loved the vid! no matter what anyone says arcane gave each character unique and beautiful twists that really only added to them
The issue with Viktor’s new design isn’t that it’s bad. If Viktor was a new character introduced in Arcane and added to league, everyone would love him. But he isn’t the Machine Herald old Viktor was. That was a unique fantasy no other character fulfils in-game, and it has been left behind for a more generic trope.
16:48 I am happy someone else loves this cause he feels alien but also still slightly mechanical not fully so I get why some hate it but I honestly prefer this victor over the old one. Plus it makes him feel so unique and really alien compared to the rest of piltover which considering his goals makes sense.
5:20 I mean... Considering what she was doing after cutting it, i doubt this was the reason. But you are right that it's more practical to have short hair.
Glorious evolution opinion: It looks sick and I love the twisted concept, BUT removing all the technical parts hurts it phenomenally. Also his hex claw feels incredibly out of place. So I'd give it nothing higher than A (probably something a-b ish) These things could have easily been fixed. 1. They show how he uses magic and spare parts to "heal" people. Make the spare parts more visible in their and his design. 2. Just have him have the hexclaw before he transforms. Let Jesus put it on when he helps Warwick for some reason. Maybe he has to cut something open and oh, a hextech lazer can penetrate the ever healing wolf? Would make sense to me. ... literally solved that whole problem of his design. Final Warwick deserves a tier even lower. Didn't even have fur anymore. We never got the wolf, we only got an ugly abomination. That's why I couldn't give the mid transformation such a high ranking either, cause it wasn't the 2nd evolution, it was already his most wolf like form. Rather than solving it through giving him a face I would have given him a voice... I like Oris face but her body gets worse, because she misses the " replaced part by part " theme. For Janna: She's kinda just hextech Janna, isn't she? I like that there are many versions and depictions of her. Makes many sense... on the other hand you're right, it is one of the uglier ones.
For WW there's a theory that somehow Vander is still somewhat in there and that in the end when Jinx tries to blow them both up, Vander eats the bomb and takes the brunt of the explosion to save Jinx, hence the pink streak that goes out after the explosion. Maybe that explosion makes Singed take the body and finally just put the wolf face onto it after the bomb blows off his head or something.
Seeing singed pre transformation is so weird, like when first watching I never knew that was him until after the explosion and Viktors childhood life, his mouth movement is so STRANGE
Fully agreeing with you on Leblanc Arcane Leblanc is so fucking cool man, she feels like pure power, she feels like an illusion master and a force of magic, she looks like the woman who banished Mordekaiser
Viktors design is just weird, it’s cool and all but I think that Viktor should have been more machine then what he is because he ISNT machine, he is just magic and sure it’s cool to mix machine and magic buut they could have done it just abit better
yea i think arcane victor would be good if it was machine instead of magic. We have plenty of magic characters but viktor was like the only machine/robot characters besides blitzcrank. Because my main issue with arcane viktor is that its magic which we have plenty of magic in league
I feel like Arcane does this a lot with League's universe which is such a shame The whole point of league's lore is that the game was a mashup of every single trope that was popular at the moment and there wasn't really a plan for it all, this lead to a universe where a lot of different types of civilizations and societies coexist with vastly different power sources which makes it almost a unlimited source of great stories, there are spirits, magic, futuristic weapons, the undead, demigods and gods that aren't actual gods, demons , and primordial fears, the fucking void you feel like they are in some kind of balance, sure the demons and primordial fears are scary, but what is that compared to the power of the gods? oh well the gods are scary, but what are they compared to the power of the abyss? well the abyss is scary but the frost can contain it and so on and so forth But now with Arcane it seems just much more sanitized, the world we are shown is one where there is magic and there is science but very little in between, hell there is barely any science (as most of the science shown in the series is just the study of the arcane, aka the study of magic and it's properties), and magic seems to trump over everything else, the whole universe just feels much smaller At the beginning the hexcore seemed to be connected to the abyss, now it turns out it's just the arcane on steroids, we didn't even get the connection to Ryze in the beginning (as it turns out that was actually Viktor) so it makes you feel like the only places that exist in this world are Piltover and Noxus, the same thing happens to Viktor, as magic is far more op technology takes a background role, and Viktor turns from a man who wants to fix the mistakes of the flesh with machinery (a copycat of the Adeptus Mechanicus) into a god who wants to do an evangelion and turn everyone into the same consciousness (again magic on steroids) Warwick goes from an arc of a man made into a monster that still has lingering humanity into another magic based beast, Viktor goes from a man who wants technology to lift humanity into a magic based god wanna be
But... Viktor _is_ all machine. Instead of the previous design and lore, which was so confusing as it tried to be two different things at the same time that ended up making the character look incomprehensible and hypocritical, Viktor has been redesigned into a being made out of pure Hextech - biomechanical machinery infused with magical energy. Jinx even refers to Viktor by the name 'Machine Herald' upon meeting him. He *is* a robot, infused with magic. This works much better for me than 'man who talks about mechanical supremacy but only replaces one forearm, has one extra hand, and a leg brace'.
One thing about leblanc, when i was researching for a DnD in league game, there's a hint that leblanc doesn't even know who she is anymore. So yeah this leblanc is an awesome feel for what she really looks like, but she never shows that form to anyone, which makes showing it to Mel kinda breaking. I'm torn between the "hell yeah that's leblanc" and "mel's not important enough to see this form wtf"
21:20 The only thing that I saw someone mentioning on reddit and wondered about. They told us that the Vander inside WW was gone, but then when Jinx and Vander/WW fall "to their deaths", you see a flashback of Vander tucking in Vi and Powder for the night. Both of the girls are asleep, so how could Jinx remember this? This is either a memory that's still living inside Vander/WW or it was just for the watcher (us). I don't know why, but believing it was just for us doesn't sit right with me.
What is it about traumatized but sensitive big burly male characters that makes them so babygirl fan favorites??? Is it the PTSD? Is that it? Edit: why does no one points out Herald Viktor's face is an arrow pointing up??? It's SO explicit and SO in your face about his motivations and wants, it's brilliant.
I like new Viktor, but I really hope we get another cyborg dude down the line again. I really really dug the idea of old aesthetic, and the rework (I hoped it amplified the old one) just missed my expectations, thats all.
ngl just the idea that the goggles are Clagger's, and not some random goggles makes the enforcer design so much better, by a lot.
But it is random goggles, because Clagger's are still on the Clagger doll and broken
@memezida1 absolutely agree! Everyone looks genuinely fantastic
Arcane truly is the story of Viktor trying to give everyone a Warframe account
the true horror of the arcane
Can't believe he was Orokin scum the entire time
Arcane is a story about Viktor from Viktor's pov narrated by Viktor

I think the in universe reason Janna looks different from her LoR redesign is that this is a Zaunite interpretation of her, not a Shuriman one.
this is what I was thinking.

Without a doubt bc you need genetics and environmental factors to really get the mental disorder’s going
"Aint nobody gonna tell me that Jinx doesn't have a predisposition towards either depression or some other mental health disorder"
-> I don't understand this part.
@ we also got her killing her adoptive dad and sister ditching her missing
Still think that storyline shouldn’t been slapped onto Viktor but I guess they wanted to persevere it somewhere, Robots 4 life
Its just another Malza to me
I love a 2nd malzahar
I got the vibe that Viktor's arc was similar to Soraka, where the more she heals others, the more it hurts her. Also Soraka being celestial really made me feel like she could've had this very same story and been part of it.
Yeah, exactly, hen he mentioned body horror and inhuman, I instantly knew where it went, our boi is a sucker for monster champs
When i saw Viktors new mask, man i LOVED IT
He has his face split, shed, and he has a rune halo, a weird triangle claw that looks so unnerving, and glowing yellow eyes
Designers cooked a meal never before seen
But for clarification i don't like that they deleted the cyborg that was old viktor and put a mage in his place
I want puppetified jayce as a skin btw
Viktor isn't exactly a mage. You cannot become a mage on Runterra iirc. You have to be born one.
@@itsgonnabeokay9341 he ment the design looks more mage than machine herald they gave him alot of hex but forgot the tech yk
When I watched the show I wasn't sure about the face mask bc I didn't know which eyes to look in?? But maybe that's the point. Like it's meant to be uncomfortable and to show that it's not just a mask he could take off, but that the arcane has infected him fully
25:09 I read the texture as porcelain / enamel rather than clay. Fitting since it would mirror the ballerina in the music box.
I love how Arcane Hemier and League Heimer are literally just different people. One refuses to invent things that hurt people, the other invents everything that hurts people. Rockets, bombs, turrets, super rockets, super bombs, super turrets! It's hilarious
Don't forget about the robot dinosaur
And Ziggs existing at all
26:29 I always saw Janna's design in Arcane as the Zaunite interpretation of the goddess, whereas LoR's is the Shuriman version. In that instance, her darker colors make more sense in Zaun given the location and climate of the Undercity
I love the description of Jayce as "Mr. President is on the battlefield" LMAO

The problem with the new Viktor is that they just deleted the machine herald
Its because it never happened. In that world jayce never knew the future, he listened to viktor and was charmed by the new world he would create. When he tried to stop viktor it was already too late. He never time travelled, neither shot viktor, neither did viktor need a "healed" body. Thats why he never became the machine herald and kept human features.
@@codacode3623 So in other words they deleted the machine herald
But they didn't really. I mean, yes. In the "machine" part, but if you want to personality as described by his bios and premise and all that, Arcane Herald Viktor is closer than the Machine Herald ever was:
-Altruistic idealist
-Seeking to perfect humanity in order to save it from itself
-Both frightening, but also someone one might seek out
-Eventually willingly deletes his emotions. And actually does so.
-Mix of religious and scientific in theming.
-Actually inhuman by the end
-Actually a threat on a global scale, which, with the exception of the Battle Cast universe, MH Viktor never actually felt like he went beyond some loonies in Zaun.
And?
My head cannon is that LoR Leblanc is what she looks like, but she always takes the shadow visage to hide her appearance.
I think the effect of Ekko repeating over and over to convince her to stay really had an impact, i just love that version of Jinx
Also goth Vi is real and i love it
They say that "at the end there is no rage or sadness, only acceptance" and yeah she looks like she is getting to the acceptance part
I got the impression that she was like "Welp, I didn't want to be here but I guess somebody gotta save the day, so f*ck it."
Need to study Ekko's game fr.
I mean, how does she know what Ekko did, if time travel doesn't work like that? From her perspective, he just got the right words
It looks like LoL designers got to look at Arcane version exactly once, and then had to make him in the game from memory xd
I love how Viktor’s mask splits open his face and emerges from it
It’s as if his new form broke out of the shell that was his old body, he’s gone beyond human and on to the next stage, the final glorious evolution
8:10 Hears Hornet's theme. Remember that Silksong is still not here. Gets depressed.

Bro the devs are living with the bare minimum again 😢.(is a joke not real)
22:00 i think that was the point, you don't know he's singed until the explosion and when he comes in the second act
my only issue with the victor rework is that Old Viktor looked like he'd still beat the snot out of you, which for a spell slinger mage, is kinda rare. I think there's 3 other mages that have that body type. And I dont mean actively runs up and knocks you out, I mean, if all else fails, the magic, the machines, he can and will fist fight you until one of you stops breathing. which was really funny.
Ironically, Malzahar is jacked and will definitely use a knife in close combat
Well, Caitlyn is a super fragile long rage ADC that fought Ambessa melee with knives and punches! I thought that was hilarious!
His version of casting spell was notably lobbing around gadgets and viktor can build items that make him tanky. I loved his running animation. Just some dude jogging around a chaotic battlefield of magical creatures.
You forgot ponytail, bodysuit Caitlyn at SSS+ tier
Words cannot describe how much I love arcane jinx, every version, she's the reason I'm into league and found this channel in the first place
Praying for you that game corrupts people
i think Arcane Viktor final evolution is cool as hell.
That's probably why I can't love this new design. It's coming at the expense of the old design and concept.
I tried so hard to like the new one but im so bitter about losing machine viktor i just can't
And also just a mage in general, we already have so many of those
And he was also a scientist that wasn't outright evil, juxtaposing Singed in this way, and other destructive engineers, which for some reason are all yordles
Old Viktor served a very specific unique fantasy, and instead of improving upon a concept, they just gave up and made him someone else
Which is fine for Arcane, if it was a separate universe, but it is sad now
Same with Skarner, he had a unique fantasy and now is a boomer force of nature that doesn't want people to change, oh hello Volibear why are you here haha
Gentrification of league of legends is really sad yeah
25:26 I personally thought the end of Orianna's story overall was that she doesnt even have a sliver of humanity left after giving it all away.

And then they never brought it up again lmao
I feel like when Vander-Warwick got his face esploded it could have easily been a transform point into more game-accurate ww by saying the rapid healing from the wolf side healed back as wolf
Tbh I fully expected that to be the case when we saw him again but it was just stoic monster man
It's exactly what i expected, and then we got that s-
I like warwick's design in arcane because he actually looks like a messed up experiment, you can tell that it was a human body twisted into that animalistic shape and it makes it so much more horrifying, league warwick is just a generic werewolf with chemtech augments.
Thank you, some one gets it
@@Firestii for sure thought he was gonna go full warwick after being blown up and regenerated, literally “losing his head” and having the beast head taking full control.
Viktor was so cool in season 1 sadly he doesn't appear in season 2. Its a real shame.
This ☝️
i mean he did die at the end of season 1 after all
It's a shame that s2 was cancelled before it could be released.
So sad that arcane ended on that cliffhanger after 1 season but maybe its for the best
16:38
That honestly put such a big smile to my face, I really love how you represented that.
Man I wish Heimerdinger had more screentime this season. He had an interesting arc but a lot of it feels like it happened off screen. Honestly feel like I can say this for a lot of characters this season lmao.
If you understand Viktor’s principle of «fixing» things, then you’ll get why Warwick looked like
that in the end. The relative «imperfections» were supposed to be fixed. That’s why he is standing more upright and not «hunched». He is exactly less wolf in the final form. The chemtech injector is also gone. Viktor removed the predator and human, and left us with a shell - just like all the other «mannequins»

Entirely agreed with "fractured jinx design" top tier 🔥🔥🔥
Firelight ekko is perfect, he looks good in league but he's way better in arcane 🔥🔥🔥
Jinx's redesign makes me remember when they made Spider Gwen into a Venom host, and then made Venom's mouth be her hoot, that was absolute cinema level of design
As a Warwick main
Vander: S+, I love him, he is better than what i imagined for Warwick being in his human form
Vander/Warwick: S, at first i wasn't sure about his design but the action, the story the whole act 2 made me love him
Glorious Evolution Warwick: F- , this is my biggest complain about Arcane, im still mad about how dirty they did my boy in act 3 design and story wise
They def should've closed his story by giving his Glorious Evolution design a muzzle. ATP Vander is lost forever, and we don't need to see his humanity under the beast because there's none left, so why not just complete his transformation into a beast there and then? I was disappointed
I still find it impressive how there are people defending leblanc's current design when every single other design from other products like arcane or lor are significantly better like ANYTHING can be considered as an improvement than the weird half naked waifu we have
leblanc is like nidalee or caitlyn before her asu: a stripper. so glad they changed cait and the redesign in lor for nidallee is gorgeous
Even if you want Le Blanc to just be a hot lady waifu, LOR design is so much better at doing that
Even if you want Le Blanc to just be a hot lady waifu, LOR design is so much better at doing that
Arcane design is not even a design yet, it's just a silluete
Sorry for all the edits I wrote the first bit at five in the morning and had more thoughts when my brain caught up.
hear me out, if vander's face split like viktor and the wolf came out, they could do body horror, literal wolf, and remove his humanity
That moment when Nickyboi notices otherworldly powder hair streak was peak ADHD.
I CANT BELIEVE YOU DIDNT MENTION JAYCE WITH THE BLACK CLOTHES
I was disappointed at Warwick's lack of snout and tail, but it was fine because I could justify it as a potentially "still in the process of transforming" type of thing. But Act 3 disrespected him so fucking bad by making him a random mindless minion but slightly bigger.
17:13 I am with you, his new design is so freaking cool! Still, I would love to see him get a mechanical body later... if that is possible.
Nothing brings me more joy than seeing Nicky's goblin avatar say "hello fellas"
New Viktor is great, but the problem is that old Viktor was one of the best written characters in League, and they just completely erased him.
Need TBskyen to do this exact tier list as well right now.
Its done in such a way that feels disrespectful to fans of original Viktor, while every other character's design feels like homage to the source material, rather than a slap in the face.

i find it even more strange that in an army of faceless aliens who are no longer human, warwick, the wolf man, the biggest monster in the army, still has a face. even viktor barely has a face anymore, but warwick has one that seems slightly less monstrous than what it was before
EDIT: I actually really like Janna's design in Zaun because it's a representation of how religious figures or deities can be represented differently across the regions where people worship them.

You 100% missed that point there, but it's your opinion.

watching this after watching the new league cinematic that came out today. feel like his opinion on leblanc might be different now
the dearly beloved playing as au jinx is being rated 😢 really loved the vid! no matter what anyone says arcane gave each character unique and beautiful twists that really only added to them
Yes, finally somebody who understands and isn’t hating on Warwick design personally my favorite design is Warwick not the gold one
They did Jayce so much justice that justice isnt enough to say how much justice they did him
3:05 AS A PERUVIAN I LOVED HEARING TONGO'S SILLY COVER HERE, I ALMOST CHOKED LAUGHING 😂
Whoever made the decision to put that there, ilysm
God damn dude, thanks for this video, I needed a mental break from Ghostrunner
5:20 I mean... Considering what she was doing after cutting it, i doubt this was the reason. But you are right that it's more practical to have short hair.
I think warwick final form should be brought a few tiers lower its too high up
Honestly, "Glorious" Warwick gave me more nightmares than getting jumped by his Ult
Glorious evolution opinion: It looks sick and I love the twisted concept, BUT removing all the technical parts hurts it phenomenally. Also his hex claw feels incredibly out of place.
So I'd give it nothing higher than A (probably something a-b ish)
These things could have easily been fixed.
Leblanc turned into Leblack
You forgot to add Neeko
5:22 Jinx didn't cut her hair because of Rictus, she cut her hair because she was depressed and was about to commit sudoku.
6:10 her party outfit should’ve sold you
Seeing singed pre transformation is so weird, like when first watching I never knew that was him until after the explosion and Viktors childhood life, his mouth movement is so STRANGE
Fully agreeing with you on Leblanc
Arcane Leblanc is so fucking cool man, she feels like pure power, she feels like an illusion master and a force of magic, she looks like the woman who banished Mordekaiser
@@basicname1555 you forgot Orianna, and there more like cyborgs but there's also Camille and Urgot
I agree with you.
I feel like Arcane does this a lot with League's universe which is such a shame
The whole point of league's lore is that the game was a mashup of every single trope that was popular at the moment and there wasn't really a plan for it all, this lead to a universe where a lot of different types of civilizations and societies coexist with vastly different power sources which makes it almost a unlimited source of great stories, there are spirits, magic, futuristic weapons, the undead, demigods and gods that aren't actual gods, demons , and primordial fears, the fucking void you feel like they are in some kind of balance, sure the demons and primordial fears are scary, but what is that compared to the power of the gods? oh well the gods are scary, but what are they compared to the power of the abyss? well the abyss is scary but the frost can contain it and so on and so forth
But now with Arcane it seems just much more sanitized, the world we are shown is one where there is magic and there is science but very little in between, hell there is barely any science (as most of the science shown in the series is just the study of the arcane, aka the study of magic and it's properties), and magic seems to trump over everything else, the whole universe just feels much smaller
At the beginning the hexcore seemed to be connected to the abyss, now it turns out it's just the arcane on steroids, we didn't even get the connection to Ryze in the beginning (as it turns out that was actually Viktor) so it makes you feel like the only places that exist in this world are Piltover and Noxus, the same thing happens to Viktor, as magic is far more op technology takes a background role, and Viktor turns from a man who wants to fix the mistakes of the flesh with machinery (a copycat of the Adeptus Mechanicus) into a god who wants to do an evangelion and turn everyone into the same consciousness (again magic on steroids)
Warwick goes from an arc of a man made into a monster that still has lingering humanity into another magic based beast, Viktor goes from a man who wants technology to lift humanity into a magic based god wanna be
Unpopular opinion, league vi is sick, she just needs arcane's vi muscle
Not a single Jhin jumpscare. He can finally rest
6:42 Small correction: She wasn't a sheriff yet. She was still a junior officer here until Ambessa made her a commander in an instant.
Theres actually a lot that i changed my mind on thanks to Nicky's, "Hear me out" kinds of things.
Wait you're SO right about "evolved" Warwick tho
What is it about traumatized but sensitive big burly male characters that makes them so babygirl fan favorites??? Is it the PTSD? Is that it?
Edit: why does no one points out Herald Viktor's face is an arrow pointing up??? It's SO explicit and SO in your face about his motivations and wants, it's brilliant.
Vi still has pink hair it’s just a redder pink but definitely still pink

Oh lord Nickyboi's avatar staring at my soul for a second
I like new Viktor, but I really hope we get another cyborg dude down the line again. I really really dug the idea of old aesthetic, and the rework (I hoped it amplified the old one) just missed my expectations, thats all.
26:26 black and blue / white and gold, we’re back at the dress debate I see
Great video. ❤🎉
great editing style!
Also wanna add that au Powder's necklace is Vander's bracelet that vi used to wear as a necklace too
