Draven with a beard looks weird, but Draven flirting with a trophy has to be the most in character thing ever for him.
As someone else pointed out, Draven flirting with another Draven would be even more in character.
I remember seeing posts on draven subreddiy where he has a beard and everybody liked it so that might be where that was from

Few things I hate more than censorship. It doesn't protect anyone from anything, it only limits creativity and creates taboos that then have a worse impact.
And not to forget it made people more curious about the censored stuff, which leads them to a more "mature" place.
It helps no one
Not to mention you have people who defend with nonsense like "it leads to less bad behaviors" which is a complete myth.
Maybe your "culture" should learn to respect art and creativity. Western nations are very religious yet we don't censor because we have separation of church and state

Okay the Zaunite Diner is actually super cute though. It's such a contrast to normal Zaun stuff that I could see it working as an actual bit of lore!
It's also a creative censor for the scene, props to the artist for turning the drinks into food instead of just turning it into water.

The artist are amazing but it is not as hard as you may think but artist have the original file and also work in layers so it’s just about drawing different assets in different layers still great work on their part
they draw in layers, so its easy to remove anything they want

Ok, the pillar is funny, but actually makes sense, as it was probably added by the artist as a framing device, since with the spear absent, composition center has much less visual weight. So the artist probably added the pillar to make a more cohesive negative space for Kallista to occupy, which would be a pretty clever trick.
...Or Chinese government just really likes pillars, who knows!

So, for Draven, the reason his mustache is changed is because the type of 'stache he has is called a Fu Man Chu and was/is a caricature style of mustache used by "bad guy Chinese" in older Hollywood Westerns/Crime/Action movies. You could tell a character was a bad guy Chinese person, if they had that, and if they were a good guy Chinese person, if they were either clean faced, or had a long thin beard and that stache.

@@azrieldalusong5042 Yeah, it kinda feel out of favor in the early 70s, but Big Trouble in Little China uses it as one of the tropes it purposefully plays on.
I think the worst part about censoring all things red with purple is that... Purple already means something in the LoL/LoR universe: it's void-y. So it misconstrues things that are supposed to represent Noxus/hemomancy/Black Rose maybe into looking like it has to do with the Void. Why couldn't they make it like... Orange? Orange juice would be less confusing lore-wise than grape juice. I can understand wanting to censor blood but using purple just screws with the lore and I'd be annoyed with that if I had to always deal with the censored cards.
Completely right. Purple already has a place in the Runeterra universe and Noxus has zero connections with the void. The Vladimir one is just so stupid because his theme is blood and changing it purple ruins his lore. Noxus sure can be less red and more orange or yellow which can actually work, but the orange/yellow scheme is for Shurima.
But orange blood makes less sense , it would look like squash.

A color they could use to censor blood that isn’t already associated with something established in Runeterra. No matter the color it would still be confusing but at least it wouldn’t conflict with already established lore.

The trophy is shiny, so one could just say he's flirting with the reflection of himself in the trophy.
As weird as the reasoning for some of these censorships might be, you've got hand it to the artists, some of these are very creative ways of dealing with whatever the issue was, and in some cases I think it even looks better (like Shellfolk with those jellyfish-esq 'ripples' in their torsos).

also 06:09 the dudes face looks a hell of a lot better. Although the ripped coat/ body thing is cool still face is a lot better in the censoured one. The original just looks wierd and demented and not even scary or menacing.

Honestly as an asian in Asia, the censorship does nothing to "protect the children". We have TV dramas and cartoons that show more gruesome stuff than what is depicted in these games, yet they're still broadcasted publicly lmao.
i actually like some of the changes. Like the Zaun bar changing to a resturant. That one is weirdly very detailed in its changes. Like that the background becomes clearer. The ligth source at the top gets dimmer, wich changes a a lot of shadows and reflections. A new ligth source with warmer ligth gets added. I abosultly love this. Also the idea that people in Zaun put chemtec stuff on there pancakes instead of syrup makes me giggel.

I think many of the censors are not just to abide to other countries rules, but also to lower the age restriction in these countries, hence removing people in danger and too pointy objects.
It's literally just drawings of pointy things not a physical toy or anything.
The gameplay is about fighting, it makes 0 sense and is stupid, yes its a card game but its a battlefield just like in League

The original art of Merciless Hunter was also censored in all regions.
The original had slightly fewer clothes. Which makes sense considering it's in the middle of the desert.

yeah ive always hated censorship like this, especially when this kind of censorship bleeds into regions where its not suppose ot be censored, think like how evelynns splash art is still censored in NA region (they claim its a bug and will be changed but its never been done yet) yet in the loading screen its uncensored
Different cultures, have different ways of seeing things. So i understand them, plus most of them are funny because they went way too overboard with censorship.

I dislike censorship too though in few cases they are better for example Ashe's censored art. To me it looks way better and makes more sense. Also Vayne is just too damn funny for me.

The only reasoning i can come up with for the weird ones is that someone somewhere needs to fulfill a censorship quota and they will only get paid for the X amount of censorship they've made - and so, they just come up with bs reasons to censor some things that make no sense xD

The reason for random changes (beard, pillars, etc), from what I’ve heard, is that some cards got censored before they were finished for western version, so they just forgot or didn’t bother adding details to censored ones

i saw it in 6:52 where not only were the cigars taken away, there were also some almost unnoticeable clean up like tweaking or adding highlights and shadows

I would guess that some of the more random backgroundchanges happened because the coverup artist got a version to work on and than the original was changed for some reson and those changes were obviusly not added to the cencored versions. The log in the butcher art for example could habe been missleeeding in the cropped card form and was toned down later.
Really just a guess but it feels very possible

That Draven edit is because of the Fu Manchu style, you see Fu Manchu was a villain from the the famous novelist called Sax Rohmer. Fu Manchu was your stereotype Chinese villain so most likely Riot was trying to avoid any correlation to that.
So Riot tried to make Draven a good guy for the Chinese audience when they don't even have the game yet.
In my opinion the skull adjustments were really well done, but yeah, it misses the whole point of the Shadow Isles

I've been awake for more than 30 hours now and when Necrit said "...and replace them with bread" i thought that maybe I'm already starting to hear things but it turns out, it really is bread. So I guess I can stay up for one more Necrit vid before I finally go to sleep.
Not gonna lie, it took me a bit to realize the top one was censored and actually find the bread.

Yes, World of Warcraft in China (and some other regions I assume) actually replaces all the TONS of bones and meat in undead areas etc, with Bread. So sometimes there's just piles of bread on the ground in like Naxx or where ever.
I assume it was simple enough to just take "object id A" and just change all of it to "object ID B". So "Bone A" is just all changed to "Bread A"

The good part about all of this censorship is that they really succeeded in making Eastern cultures not be turbo-addicted to stuff like porn or gambling. Otherwise there would be a massive market of gacha games involving waifus with absurd body proportions to satisfy their thirsty population over there.
Whenever somebody wants something, not giving them any of it will always make them less addicted, works every time.

What's crazy is that the censorship is happening in reverse. In Yu-Gi-Oh, for instance, the cnesored cards are in the West with the original versions being in the East. Same with all the anime censorship.

@@jag764 they censor them because they are sexualized, the males, Trynda and Braum are not sexualized. It's kinda hard to understand but, the males are drawn to inspire, that heroic model, the strong body and will, but Ashe has her boobs out, this is sexual.
