Someone asked me how I can fall in love with a steel object! And only those who are passionate about aviation would know how to understand this feeling. MD11 will always be the favorite in my heart forever and ever! I never had the privilege and honor to enter this magnificent machine. Imposing, noisy. smoky, powerful and of unparalleled beauty. Thank you MD 11 for being part of my story, my life.
Glad you retired. Depending on what they do to us after 6/1/24 will determine if I take severance and retire in October or ride it out til my 30 years in 2026. The FedEx of today is more than likely the Federal Express you retired from. I wish you health, good luck and a long retirement.

Thanks for excellent filming of the MD-11 coming in to my hometown. I remember when the first MD-10 landed at Memphis International Airport. It had the wording: Boeing MD-10 Converted Freighter and in December 2019 I saw an Atlas Air 747-400F and the 747-8F takeoff with within five minutes of each other.
So lucky I get to see FedEx MD-11s still coming in and out of London Stansted, nice and low. The evening flight back Memphis has always been FDX1, even back to the 80/90s when they used DC-10s. They’re so noisy and I love it!.
Luca thank you for sharing, We are Western Global Airlines a contractor for FedEx. And we also go once in a while and visit Standsted. Check out The other MD11 Videos I have, this is a mighty airplane, yes it it noisy and full of power. Great video, don't see as much from the MD11 cockpits. If I heard correctly, this is FDX806, KONT to KMEM....these FedEx pilots should be able to land in KMEM with their eyes closed haha....nice to hear the callouts in a voice other than the usual Boeing guy and Airbus guy voices.
This isn’t FedEx. It’s Western Global. Yes, I know they said a FedEx call sign, but when Western Global flew cans for FedEx during Covid they used the call sign. Also their epaulets are gold.

A cockpit which offers one of the most impressive panoramic views unlike any other aircraft for which Lufthansa Cargo have a pet name for it. Can you guess? Pity these trijets are being retired. Thanks for sharing!
Yes the MD11 is like no other, super powerful and the view is incredible. More to come soon. And the company I work for bought the last two Lufthansa MD11. Can’t wait to go get them.

Sometimes we fly the approach by hand and other times we let the autopilot do the work it all depends on how long has the day been, how many legs have we flown etc.
Yes we are both Captain it was common to fly Captain on captain back in the Covid days. And to make it interesting the flying Captain got to do it from the right seat.
Hi thanks for your comment yes exiting the runway and taxi to the ramp was a little fast sometimes these big jets when they are heavy you have to taxi fast to keep momentum going
@@bigdogboos1 stabilized means they are good for landing, the aircraft is stabilized as the flaps and gear are down, speed is good and the plane is ready to land. It’s not a button they just confirm together they and the plane is ready to land. If they take the gear and flaps down it changes how the plane reacts and flies so they have to “stabilize” it before they land it.
I was also wondering about that. At 1:01 the left pilot advises his collegue about the speed - he replies with "ah not yet, let's keep it up a little bit..." and the left one probably wasn't too happy about that.

Retired from FedEx. Great company. Well done men, I jump seated on occasion through MEM back in the day. Fond memories. Keep up the fine work.
Just a quick note mate: that's not a FedEx plane or crew. Western Global, using a FedEx callsign.
