- This is my early impression of Chypre Extraordinaire. It was a tough one to break down so I had to just tell you how it makes me feel. It is basically a boring chypre that didnt move me at all, basically there is nothing extraordinary about it to me personally. Gorgeous review mate..to my nose when this dries down it becomes more masculine which I enjoy a lot more than the opening,and it starts reminding me a lot of Diaghilev.however I will never give Roja money again after what he did with Great Britain and CE it’s just not right to drop the prices like that when there’s ppl paid double,like you mentioned it feels like they’ve stolen our money when we paid the old prices. Enjoyed the vid a lot just wonderful.
I completely agree...an arbitrary 1000 dollar price drop is insanity... if they dont watch out they will end up like Creed soon 😂😂😂

This is a must buy for all Chypré lovers. For me, fragrance isn't just about smell, it's about how it makes you feel. Chypré Extraordinaire makes me feel majestic. There's only ever been 2 fragrances that have made me feel majestic; Diaghilev and Chypré Extraordinaire. Chypré Extraordinaire is a true masterpiece. It's only right that a masterpiece like this was made by the grandmaster himself; Mr. Roja Dove.

Chypre E is an easy reach and people around me seem to like smelling it. I do agree it's so smooth (or even too smooth to the point it doesn't evoke your feelings) but I still think it's stunning and sometimes I kinda need those chypres that are easy and pretty wears. However, on my skin, it shines very late in the dry down when those animalic nuances and mossy accords creeps in - that stage reminds me a bit of Diaghilev.. it's sensual but not as sexual as D. It was great to hear your thoughts as now I can see the scent in different light, if you will. I actually prefer this style of reviewing, not too technical but more of a feeling. Keep these coming!

I watch your videos most times and to be honest you sound like you’re a professor of perfumery and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Love watching your videos. My favorite fragrance of all time is Roja Dove Diaghilev and in my honest opinion in terms of scent it’s way way better than mitsouko.

According to Roja himself, any of his perfumes that do not sell well or get discontinued is moved to his haute parfumerie.
And get the priced slashed by a Grand ? 😉

Chypres dont appeal to everyone
Great Britain is my fave leather. I have a small decant and it is my treasure. Can’t believe that they have reduced its cost by a thousand. I just think something’s up. The hypothesis that they have cut the quality of the ingredients is feasible. A comparison of the formulations (before and after the reduction of the costs) is mandatory at this point.
It makes zero sense to me... the only thing that makes sense is its discontinued & they want to dump the last few bottles before word gets out 😅
I agree. I would like to believe he has reformulated the scents (my CE atomizer looks darker than the juice in the bottle and my nose automatically wants the visually darker juice to smell bolder as a result) but he’s known to just discontinue scents rather than sell them cheaper. Only he knows I guess 🤷🏽♂️
No one was buying it at 1750 so they cut the price and gave it to the RDHP as an exclusive lol, simple

Maybe a video series where you do up to 6 samples in one vid - setting yourself a time limit for each, say 5 minutes? No need for background or context, just the scent, comparison with others in the genre (without showing the bottles for brevity) and how you feel about it. Your sampling livestreams are already a great start. I love that you take your time with every review and impressions vid Ramsey, but this could be the only way to may a dent in those vials, especially if they're fragrances that are just "meh" for you. What a way to train the nose too. You've made such progress.

There is a high probability that they reformulated Great Britain and Chypre Extraordinaire prior to the price reduction.
I heard even rumors that Diaghilev is getting watered down.
Don't get me wrong, that doesn't justify that outrageous price reduction.
Diaghilev is worth his black market price.
(625 euros for 100 ml.)

In 2018 the price was 1450 sterling pounds, and now its 750. And its sold only at Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie. It is not part of Roja Parfums anymore. Its didnt sell well, that was the problem. But even at 750 pounds, the profit its made. Dont forget that Diaghilev was 120 pounds back in 2011. So by selling a Diaghilev at 795 pounds, Roja still makes a huge profit.
Oh yeah no doubt Roja is making "F You" Money 😂😂😂
@@RamseytheRam visited the Rojas Dove Haute Parfumerie. And they have told me that Cypre Extraordinare, is the same, even if the price is 50% cut. They made it more accessible. In the 1st month of discount they sold 60 bottles.

So we can say that Chypre Extraordinary is an "empty", soulless chypre, since it was made without oakmoss.
Well, that says a lot about the importance of the oakmoss in many fragrances, not just in Chypre category.
IFRA caused the extinction level of oakmoss in modern perfumery.
Only indie houses can save it for fragheads.

Dear Dušan, oakmoss is not dead. Brands "could" still use real oakmoss absolute (if its cleaned from atranol and chloratranol, which are the main constitutes that cause allergic reactions). The limit is 0.1% in the final fragrance, which is still incredibly high if you max out this limit. Indeed, if you would max out the limit, you could basically just smell oakmoss and nothing else. So the blame is not on iFRA per se, but more on the brands that use cheaper and easier to work with substitutes.
@@GrautonparfumsThis is an interesting take. I have seen IFRA being invoked as the problem, but I wonder if it is also true that business side of the perfume house is scapegoating it as a way to start using cheaper alternatives without backlash from the community.

Poutpourry is the only full bottle that I own from Santa Maria Novella. For “green-edible”lovers only imho. It is a mixture of the most pungent aromatic herbs currently used in Italian cuisine. There is a prominent Laurel-bay leaf note which is similar to that of Laurel by CdG. Pick up a strong “stone” note in the dry down too (even if it is not listed).

Thats a tough one mate...have you smelled the vintages ? The big hitters like Antaeus and Kouros and Givenchy Gentleman are all so unique my guess is you are sniffing a lot of modern creations... the modern stuff all smells the same because of the lack of originality & also the big oil houses selling the same molecules to all the houses ..only way to go forward is to go back in time at this point 😊

You are in luck there are now 3 eBay listings for Guerlain Metallica. $1650, $!950 and $2600. I'm holding out for free shipping... lol McQueen Parfum is a Jasmine overdose... I luv it. Not a cheap frag. RD Chypre Extraordinaire (CE) they dropped the price from 1800 to 750 bp. Yeah I still see retailers selling high. I sort of think RD is trying to move the juice they have to discontinue. I picked up another bottle after seeing the price drop. Diaghilev is very good also. I have that one also. CE sillage and projection is awesome.

@@RamseytheRam Odd that Beverly Hills Perfumery has shown it out of stock for quite some time yet I had no problem geting it from the RD website. I think some other retailers show it out of stock also. Another person on YT that does reviews also seems to think RD is going to discontinue this one along with some others. Beguilded sort of silently got discontinued also. Maybe not to be an embarrassment RD doesn't want to have a discontinued or markdown tab on the website. Just seems odd to slash the price nearly 1/2. Now if only those eBay sellers would do the same for Metallica. The seller from Canada has a best offer option. My problem with buying any of those is possibly getting stiffed for fake perfume. How do you dispute or prove that if you do think it is fake after getting it. Too risky.
Diaghilev is also another one that got moved to Haute and price slashed. A few retailers slashed prices also.

@@ciprianiulian6575 Ah shrinkflation has hit the frag market. To be honest I don't know why more is not availble in 25 ml, 30 ml or even 50 ml. I think more people would buy a 25 ml size vs 100ml especially if you have a large collection. One has to wonder what the markup is on frags. RD has a new one called "The Oud" in the haute collection I'm hoping to get a sample of it this week with my order if I am lucky and they send one. That's another disappointment getting decant samples. Many of the decant sellers don't offer everything. Some designer frags for legal reasons must prevent selling decants.
Roja is dishonest as far as I’m concerned. He’s cut the cost of this and Great Britain considerably. I also got burnt buying a 50ml diaghilev from his website which was supposedly meant to be a limited edition of 200. They then scrapped that and stocked it for months.
