- While scouring the internet, Aaron Kyro stumbled across what is said to be the blackest paint in the entire world! Today, we put that claim to the test by painting a skateboard and seeing if it makes skating any more difficult for us! The answer may surprise you!

It’s about the volume of light it absorbs paint the inside of a box with it and stick some objects inside with the same paint and then they will kinda fade away in the box
That’s not it. They applied the paint entirely wrong. Although what your day would help.
To answer Nigel's question:
Black 3.0 reflects 2.5% of light - absorbing 97.5%.
Musou Black reflects only 0.6% and is the true blackest paint.
I've been a painter for 14 years - and All black paint looks lightning blue before application for some reason.

Honestly this is the exact kind of video ive wanted for years, People always show Amazing new Paints and Color tech but never the durability of the Paints or objects in movement and Nothings more of a Stress test then a Skateboard lmao.
They applied the paint completely wrong. There are specific instructions on the website. Plus the actual vanta black is super expensive, not inaccessible.
Some things you missed from the website. The last thing being one of the most important.
"Key things to remember:
-Use a nice soft brush (not a rubbish scratchy comblike one)
-Apply at room temperature 10 - 25 c ( 50 - 77 F)
-Use as little paint as possible and spread it out nicely
-Allow to dry between coats (at least two hours, overnight is better)
-Use a hairdryer to get max blackness
-Seal absorbent (porous) things with 25% PVA and 75% Water
-Prime shiny (non - absorbent) things with primer or Black 2.0"

Yeah, I would have thought it would have been more interesting if it was done properly. Bit of a pointless exercise. But Braille still are the top boys.
You have to put more layers of the blacker black paint on the blacked out board 🔥
I'd say at least 3 coats on the bottom. Painted for years and they definitely need to let it dry after each coat and do that til it's maximum black black

I got you Nigel. Most black colors still reflect light, but some modern black paints use clever ohysics to reduce the light that is reflected. Less photons makes something darker technically.

It looks better inside because the lights produce specific frequencies of light, depending on the type, they use multiple LEDS or filters to try and get a wide range but it's nowhere near as wide spectrum as the sun, the paint absorbs artificial light way better than natural light. I also think more coats are neccesary and the surface finish is really important for light scattering, you need to sand it down after painting to perfect but the product does 'work' and has it's uses but the application is really important and sensistive.

There is a black paint that is so black its litterally like looking straight into a black hole but its verry expensive and in a really small jar but you should try it, its celled musou black

You can't compare matte black to glossy black. Where the light source isn't being reflected into the camera, the glossy black will seem very black. But in that case, the light is not being absorbed - it's being reflected away from the camera. Matte black will diffuse the light so it's more evenly reflected in all directions, so if it still appears black, it means the light is getting absorbed. It clearly could be darker, but, it's still pretty dark for a non-reflective material.

if you put some varnish on it, I wonder if it would enrich the darkness, granted it would be shiny, but it would have the highs and lows of the black color?
especially that it was applied outside, it could've easily gotten dusty and the varnish would reinvigorate the depth of the black
because the varnish would basically make it look wet still without it being wet

I've used black 3.0, the stuff gets black black black, but you need to apply it properly. You can't just paint over a finished/coated board. You need to Atleast prime it first.
Is spraying it better than rolling?
@@kurtownsj00 for such a large surface, I would think so. Would be much easier to get an even coat. I've only used it on smaller things.
But painting on a varnished/un primed skateboard, using a brush and jsut painting on layer after layer would make any paint job turn out awful lol

There is a darker coat using carbon nanotubes and it's wicked expensive and you can't buy it. You can however send things to the company to have it Painted coated in said nanotube paint.
