    The reason why I played lol is cause there's role select, so I can chill during pick phase instead of speedruning ctrlC+ctrlV and arguing about who's gonna go mid. Riot can't even deal with toxicity now, how would they deal with even more toxicity?

    • @Anemodus
      @Anemodus 2 месяца назад +4

      All they had to do was assign roles at random in the old system, that way the whole copy-paste spam and pick order priority wouldn’t matter as heavily since a system could already be in place to assign roles at random. All the better if they want to add a preferred role in that exact system.
      Current league suffers immensely from the fact that people don’t know how to play any role other than their primary and occasionally secondary, both directly when playing the other roles (auto fill), and indirectly through understanding what other roles want to do or can do.

    • @mz2728

      At least in higher Elo, the norm was that pick order decides role unless you had a toxic piece of shit in your team every now and then.

      @@abbemartensson3850 sorry for late reply. I think that’s a fair way of doing things though - Clash (league’s tournament system) more or less behaves like that when you’re playing with randoms/free agents: the best player gets their pick of the litter so to speak and you can strategize around that. solo queue is a bit of a different situation for a multitude of reasons but even so, I think being able to go into ranked prepared to play any role does signify your strength as a player to be adaptable and have competent game knowledge on the whole

    • @TheCosmicAstro-
      @TheCosmicAstro- 2 месяца назад

      Its actually not required to have multiple maps.
      What is required is not so heavily forcing such micromanaged ways to play the game for each role/lane, alongside hots brilliant deletion of last hitting which allows for much more strategic gameplay even in a bad lane match up.
      But league will never fix their game so there's no point in even trying

    • @DanteV42
      @DanteV42 2 месяца назад

      @@TheCosmicAstro- thats true not having to sit around and last hit allows you to go top for 15 seconds and roam. League map being so big would be an issue for that though. the really huge hots maps play very similarly to league, which is great I love having that option once in awhile. variance in maps does wonders for a moba

    When your "long term goals" are adding 150+ champions, asking new players to join in and be forced to not only learn them all, but also how to play in every single role is sadistic at best.

    • @Anemodus
      @Anemodus 2 месяца назад

      @@rainbowtroutin I heavily disagree. You learn way more about all the various champions when you actually are put in the position where you actively have the opportunity to play as, with, or against those champions more frequently. Someone as a new player who is an adc main is going to have little to no knowledge about most top lane champions, certain mid champs, how some junglers path and function, and depending on the meta might not learn how some supports work.
      League already has a ton of intricacies to pick up and learn, and it should be expected that players will have preferred roles where they perform up to par with their own skill, even in the old system. The issue is players have practically zero knowledge of anything outside of their primary role because there’s little expectation to prepare to be put into a role that isn’t your primary/secondary, which causes things like auto fill to be extremely detrimental to matchmaking as a whole because it either increases the number of dodged champ selects or drastically decreases the skill floor of certain games that do go through because your lulu support one trick is now playing amumu jungle for the first time since they did co-op vs bots.
      Imo, Riot needs to either all in on role select at the cost of longer queues (at the very least offer the option to do so), or balance auto fill much more heavily between teams so that teams with 1 or more autofills aren’t put against 5 on role enemies.
      **Edit: added final paragraph

    • @rainbowtroutin
      @rainbowtroutin 2 месяца назад +2

      @@Anemodus Every top tier player has agreed that sticking to 3-5 champions in 1 role while learning is the way to go till silver/gold. Slowly learn what every character in the game does by limit testing until you're confident in your micro, then move on to learning macro and synergy in other lanes. Baby steps.
      We don't throw people into alligator pits to make them stronger, we give them a dumbbell and time.

    • @Anemodus
      @Anemodus 2 месяца назад

      @@rainbowtroutin that advice is for CLIMBING RANKED, not for a new player getting their feet wet and learning new champs and roles. You quite literally cannot “limit test” the champion pool to learn how all champions or roles work at a basic level, that comes after you have a skill floor on a champion you play or are at least somewhat familiar with.
      It’s a completely different stage in what you want to prioritize; you initially get stronger by working at different varied activities in the gym, then afterwards you hard focus on a particular set of workouts to maximize whatever your aiming towards

    Disagree. I think it was a great idea, but the execution of that idea was poor.
    What should've been done is that you choose your main role you queue up for with a 70% chance of you getin that role. The remaining 30% chance will fill you to whatever role is demanded the most.
    This way over the course of hundreds of games everyone while, still having and embracing their main role, would be forced to play and learn all the other roles at least to some reasonable extend narrowing the skill gap in a on-role vs off-role matchup without giving the player the notion of being always off-role.

    I mean it is incredibly wrong but it’s his opinion. Before role queue people still played roles. We just copied what the pros did. If we had games now like back then when your support didn’t want to play support because they were last pick so they duo mid or top then the game would have died because people playing ranked would want to emulate pro and that takes the coronation of all 10 players if you don’t give those players a role they are responsible for
