GrandiaKnight skies of Arcadia deserves to be on this list. Given that i see the GameCube version of sonic adventure 2 in the background then he might have skies for that too.
I love the story, characters, battles, dungeons, music, graphics, and just about everything else about that game... But combat is so damn slow. Some attacks late game from bosses take nearly a minute (or at least feels like it.)
Skies of Arcadia was great, but the non-DC version of the Dreamcast does have a reputation of some major flaws... the Gamecube version really is the "true form" of the game, so as long as that one gets to be on a Gamecube-Top 10... I won't complain. If not, however... I SHALL SMITE THEE, JIRARD
It's so amazing that both its protagonists appeared in ALL VALKYRIA CHRONICLES GAMES! (Except Revolution BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT because that's an ALTERNATE REALITY GAME!)
Making such sweeping personal judgement calls is quite difficult for me, but Skies of Arcadia may very well be my absolute favorite game of all time. It just has this undeniable charm to it that can't be beat, and it is a continual treat to experience the world and sense of adventure as you play through it. Jirard having it on the shelf throughout this video was sweat torture as the list ticked down. That said, I wouldn't trade Sonic Adventure 1 for it, as they are both formative titles that deserve their own recognition for the place they hold in gaming history. I still remember how blown away I was with SA1 when it was brand new and we'd rented a Dreamcast, long before I ever owned the console myself. Though, of course, with the Dreamcast's lifespan, disk print numbers, and the console's tendancy to skrach the disks as it played them, you're much better off playing SA1, SA2, and Skies of Arcadia on the Gamecube (or by extension most Wiis) now. I might just go do that with SoA after this.
(No particular order) 1. Worms: Armageddon 2. Power Stone 3. Power Stone 2 4. Sonic Adventure 5. Sonic Adventure 2 6. House of the Dead 2 (with official light guns) 7. Marvel vs Capcom 8. Buzz Lightyear of Star command (it’s great trust me!) 9. Rayman 2 10. Crazy Taxi I loved Quake 3 when it first came out but unless you have a keyboard controls take A LOT of getting used to now!
Over-Rated Gamers tbh i heavily prefer it over sonic adventure 2. better soundtrack, cooler gameplay, more characters, better overworld that u culd explore at ur own pace
My 10 favorite video games in no particular order: * Mortal Kombat Gold * Virtua Fighter 3tb * Power Stone Series * Fatal Fury: Mark of Wolves * Zombie Revenge * Capcom vs SNK * Resident Evil: Code Veronica * Soul Calibur * Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Series * Grandia 2
This is a great list! Grandia II is one of my favorite games of all time, and I’m so glad it was remade for current consoles. That game with Resident Evil would keep me coming back to the Dreamcast.
I always had good memories of both, and actually prefer 1 over 2, simply because I like hub worlds. But I also played 1 more than 2. That Super Sonic boss fight in SA1 was rad and probably one of my favorite game memories from the DC.
In his Mania review he says "it's been 23 years since the last truly incredible Sonic the Hedgehog game". That's the very first line of the video. He does not say "there's been no good game since 3". Additionally, Matt says that there have been some Sonic games that came close (to truly incredible) in those 23 years. Here Jirard recognizes that SA1 and SA2 have their flaws, but he still enjoyed them immensely (probably helped that he was played them while he was younger, as I did). Maybe you can find a place where he says otherwise. If not, stop twisting peoples words and stop misquoting them.
Sonic Adventure is one of my favorite games of all time! Some of the moments in that game still make my stomach flutter like I'm in an elevator. Sure it has problems but don't we all?
Makes it even better we ended up with Sonic X that put both games in an anime those 2 games were my childhood and when I seen that on TV I was going insane.
There was a game I happened to see on Kickstarter a few days ago, a 2D platformer that's releasing, among other platformers, on the Dreamcast. Not sure why, but that got me super excited for some reason - I love seeing how much love the old Sega systems get even today.
The Whiskey Dic Sonic Adventure is dope! Jirard has great taste in video games! You rock, my brother!! Man, I'd love to play with you and come on your show!!
You know it. (But seriously: I don't remember hating it, or having any strong feelings one way or another. Guess I need to go back and give it another go.)
I remember the feeling frantically attempting to get out of playing his stages. If I remember the game well enough, the stage progression was an out of order sequence for who is going to be required to play as at a specific time...and I would think please let me pick someone else...this is back in 2001/2002...so my memory is hazy.
Overrated actually. Sega committed various dumb mistakes with the Dreamcast. Using CDs like the PS1 instead of DVDs like the PS2, the controller is also atrocious ergonomics wise. Just because Capcom dumped many of their ip's on the DC trying to capitalize on Sega's last breath in the hardware business, it doesn't make the Dreamcast the second coming of Christ like fanboys want to believe In reality the Saturn is way superior of a console to the Dreamcast, it's Sega's best console in fact
Shenmu 2 and Grandia 2 are on there for me. Also some proper niche games had my attention for ages, like Record of Lodoss War, Draconus Cult of the Wyrm, BERSERK - Guts Rage, and Blue Stinger. But for a hindsight top 10 - maybe DoA2 and maybe Ecco.
Some of my personal favourites: Shadow Man Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Toy Commander Resident Evil: Code Veronica Sonic Adventure Kiss Psycho Circus Still my all-time favourite console!
No Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Shenmue, or Phantasy Star Online? That's odd. Also, what does Acclaim have to do with Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast? Sega developed and published it.
Remember: this has more to do about nostalgia for him than anything. Nothing wrong with that. A lot of games I played 15 years ago often holds more value to me than games I play today, even if they are objectively better. Not always true, but often.
Grandia II was soooo good. One the few RPGs that I completed. :) Skies of Arcadia too, just classic. The exploration aspect and customization options were amazing.
There are youtubers out there that clearly should have broken 1-million a long time ago. That One Video Gamer is one. Another is Northernlion. It's honestly ridiculous that he hasn't hit 1-million yet. His views are really high for his sub count and he's been putting out consistent content for years.
Skies of Arcadia, full stop, is my favorite game of all time. It combines every good rpg trope with a great battle system, amazing music, and a game with so much missable stuff that I still find something new on each playthrough, despite getting the title saying I’ve found 100% of the games extras and secrets.
7:08 ... bought a 2nd light gun for this baby, beat its 2 player two-handed solo & flawless, all survivors saved, on highest difficulty. Unlocked red blood in the european version and took a copy to our local game store so everyone can enjoy. HotD2 is prolly among my personal top 5
Crazy Taxi, Illbleed, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Omikron the Nomad Soul, Skies of Arcadia, Powerstone, Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, Sonic Adventure 2, Carrier.... I have a crap ton more I could name, but you said ten. I loved the Dreamcast, still do. Heck, I still stream on Twitch several games from it. It's a game system in which I actually love more than my Xbox One and Wii U and Switch and... okay... you get the idea.
I remember the House of the Dead 2. Lightgun games like that were also the only game my mom would play with me. So we had two gun controllers and I would make my mom play House of the Dead 2 with me hehe. Good times; cherished memories I'm sure I'll hold on to forever.
aight lets go. Sonic Adventure was an extremely buggy, poorly made game. Every campaign except sonics was painful to go through, and had zero redeeming qualities, and can only be judged on how much worse than the others they are. Big's and Gamma's campaigns are the worst. Even the best campaign, Sonics, had very shitty levels that forced tons of bullshit deaths from glitches and awful controls, with linear boring levels.
Dr. Ceasars Palace MD: You might be objectively right, but I don't really recall a lot of that, if any, just that I enjoyed it. Maybe I wouldn't like it now, but as it stands, I have pretty fond memories.
Extremely buggy and tons of death causing glitches sounds like an immense third party exaggeration. Even on the DX port which is way messier than the Dreamcast original.
That's so awesome you played HOTD2 with your dad Jirard, my dad was the same way. He hated video games but made an exception for light gun games so they hold a special place in my heart.
Absolutely Love the Dreamcast. It's my 2nd fave barely behind PS2 & SNES, the game variety alone was massive and the graphics always felt just a bit "more" than the other consoles of the time.
Shenmue 1 and 2 and REZ are in my top ten for sure. The Shenmue series (specifically the first one) is my favorite game of all time. You should check out Alice Dreams Tournament! Its a bomberman homebrew game that involves the VMU as a second screen (fully needed when playing hide and seek bomberman levels). Highly recommended. Thankfully I kept my copy of Powerstone 2 i got as a kid.
What you said about you and your dad playing video games, I believe is a true memory for all gamers. My dad never had an interest in video games and would play my sega once in a while with me. He would run shoot and die immediately and it made me laugh so much. Great video but even better memory.
I really wish he'd at least given a "special mention" or something! That game was revolutionary and is still my favorite game on the DC. Sure, the "sailors" chapter is a bit meme-y, but its still great!
Figured he simply hasn't played it, but maybe he has? I had a DC but was under the impression (when I was younger) that it wasn't a great game. Simply haven't gone back to play it.
Anyone who told you it was bad should have their lips sewn shut! It's blasphemy to say such things! Without Shenmue, Yakuza would not exist, and many other similar styled games wouldn't have been nearly as grand. Shenmue set a bar and without that bar, companies would still low-ball costs and we wouldn't have things like Heavy Rain and the like.
Yo man I've used RUclips for years and I don't think I've ever left a comment. That stuff you said about your dad - Respect As you said near the start of your vid "Many if not all of these games have connected with me for totally random and weird reasons." I lost my older sister. She wasn't a hardcore on the game consoles when we were growing up but there were a select few games that me and her binged to the max. I don't have to tell you now prominent and nostalgic those games are to me now. Powerful stuff. Subscribed. P.s Found this vid while searching for games to play on the PC with my 7 year old son. Looks like tonight we're going to jam some The House of the Dead 2.
I couldn't possibly agree with you more!!!! Sonic adventure 2 is the best, and all the others are killer too. The only one I would add would be Chu Chu Rocket
I still have my Dreamcast, but that was because I saved it from being gone forever when I was younger. See, it used to be my brother's Dreamcast, and at the time, he was getting himself a PSOne and was wanting to sell it. I still had so many fun games I played on it, that when I heard that he was going to sell it, I begged my mom to make him give it to me, which he did, and I still have it to this day, although it doesn't get played that much as it used to. My Top Five Games (because they're the only ones I still have) + My Top Five Games I wish I had for it are as follows: Top Five Favorites: 1) Soul Calibur - My brother and I played the snot outta this game, and we used to go to the arcades in the local mall and play it there and be surprised at how much better the graphics were on the Dreamcast than in the actual arcade! It was the main reason I wanted to keep the Dreamcast. 2) Sonic Adventure 2 - It's still one of my favorites to this date, and I remember when I had asked for it for Christmas a few years back (because some of the games had been sold besides Soul Calibur and a couple more on this list), and my brother found me a copy on eBay and bought it for me for Christmas. 3) Sonic Adventure 1 - This one's just below 2, but that's because I had a lot more fun with 2. Still, it's a fun romp, though Big's story still annoys me some. 4) Capcom vs SNK - Yep, believe it or not, it wasn't just Capcom vs Marvel 2 on the Dreamcast. Back then, my brother and I were big fighting game fans, so finding out that we can pit characters from Capcom against Characters from SNK was AWESOME, as some of our favorite characters were in there. So much fun battling each other! 5) Marvel vs Capcom 2 - This one's a late one into this list, but it was the last game I was gifted from my ex-boyfriend. It's still one I come back to every now and again, but not much as the other games on this list. Top Five Games I want for the Dreamcast: 1) Skies of Arcadia - This is one of those RPG's I wish I could've played when it came out, but back then, my local game shop didn't have it in stock. Still, I can look around the used game places and hope I can find it eventually, because from the playthrough I saw of it, I think I'd like it. 2) Power Stone and Power Stone 2 - Wacky fun fights AND crazy transformations?! Sign me up! 3) Dead or Alive 2 - I used to have this game and had so much fun with it, but sadly, I believe it was one of the games that got sold previously by my brother. I will eventually get this one back. 4) Project Justice - I loved playing Rival Schools, so when I heard it had a sequel, I KNEW I wanted to get it, eventually. 5) Hydro Thunder - Another game I used to play a lot in the arcades, so it would HAVE to make this list.
The crazy part for me is that I would never be able to do a top10 games of the Dreamcast. The library has so much variety, and there are SO many games I enjoy equally that it is near impossible to make a list! I play the Dreamcast regularly to this day and even consider it being the pinnacle of home consoles. I don't think it has to do with nostalgia, but rather that the simple "arcade fun" of the late 90's kind of died after the Dreamcast. Now games play like interactive movies or they have massive worlds with never-ending checklists of boring tasks to do... I loved when game developers explored new ideas and creative/fun gameplay mechanics. I think this is the main reason I love this machine so much, and why I mostly play indie games today.
The Dreamcast was, out of all my consoles (which extends back to the 70s), the only one I actually pre-ordered so I'd have it day one (actually, day two: didn't get paid until Sept. 10). Tons of good games on the system, including the two Sonic Adventure games, Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, Power Stone 1 and 2, Shenmue, Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia and many more. Two of my favorites not on this list were Project Justice (sequel to Rival Schools: United by Fate for the PS1) and Tech Romancer, a big, wet, sloppy Shoji Kawamori kiss to mecha anime. Still have a DC hooked up, ready to play at a moment's notice!
Personally I love this list, tho I feel like evolution 2 -no one I know, knows what that game is- and shenmue which made me strangely love having a part-time job lol and gacha machines!
my favorite dc-game will always be shenmue (1&2). also sword of the berserk and grandia 2 were amazing. loved that you had house of the dead 2 in your list. i've played that with my brother at least 50 times back then. in my top 10 there would have been also space for skies of arcadia and the fabulous record of lodoss war. other ones would be crazy taxy 2, doa2(never rached that Quality again imo) and re:Code veronica
I’ve only been collecting for the Dreamcast (and Saturn) for a few months, and damn it has so many amazing games. I’ve poured my time and received more hours of enjoyment out of my Dreamcast than I have from my PS4 or Switch. Although not a top ten list, here are my favorite Dreamcast games in no particular order. 1. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 2. Sonic Adventures 2 3. Crazy Taxi (I love the Offspring) 4. Resident Evil 2 5. Dino Crisis 6. Jet Grind Radio 7. Grandia II 8. Capcom vs SNK 9. Power Stone 10. Seaman And while I’m at it, considering that I’ve been playing a ton of Sega recently. Here is a list of my favorite Sega Saturn games. 1. Panzer Dragoon 2. X-Men Children of the Atom 3. Resident Evil 4. Nights Into Dreams 5. Shining Force III 6. Marvel Super Heroes 7. Mega Man 8/ X4 8. Croc 9. D 10. Street Figher Alpha 2
For my Top 10...off the top of my head, anyway: 10. Test Drive 6 (mostly for that music video) 9. PenPen TriIceLon (still a guilty pleasure today) 8. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles 7. Hydro Thunder 6. MvC2 5. Looney Tunes Space Race 4. Soul Calibur 3. ChuChu Rocket! 2. San Francisco Rush 2049 1. Sonic Adventure (didn't have SA2 on DC else I'd tie them)
I may not have played the Dreamcast, but seeing these icons on the system makes me all the more FURIOUS that Sega has decided to focus on SONIC, and not bringing back some of these classics for new consoles.
To be fair, Capcom and other third parties are responsible for a lot of games on this list. Sega re-released a lot of Dreamcast games they own the license for.
00:00 Intro 02:04 #10 WWF Royal Rumble 03:15 #9 Soul Calibur 04:55 #8 Sonic Adventure 07:07 #7 The House of the Dead 2 08:38 #6 Resident Evil CODE: Veronica 09:59 #5 Power Stone 11:21 #4 Jet Set Radio 12:30 #3 Marvel vs. Capcom 2 14:22 #2 Crazy Taxi 15:45 #1 Sonic Adventure 2
Respect for including Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on this list. Far too many people bash those games without having even played them. They were AMAZING for their time and even though they haven't aged as well as other games for their time they were amazing and I'd still put them up against most other games. I enjoyed Sonic 1 more but Sonic 2 was such a blast to play when it came out.
10: Sonic Shuffle 9: Samba de Amigo 8: Resident Evil 2 7: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 6: Rayman The Great Escape 5: Marvel VS Capcom 2 4: Crazy Taxi 3: Sonic Adventure 2: Jet Set Radioooooooo 1: Sonic Adventure 2
I've noticed grey often shows up in beards before hair, and it's more noticeable in darker hair. He probably just uses one of those simple dyes that are easy to apply. I'll admit I was tempted to get some myself when I saw a couple greys near my temples lol, but hopefully the blonde will hide it till it's more age appropriate. Of course, in the end the only person that really cares about your hair color is you lol
I love the bit at the start of #8. Jirard's frustration sounds pretty genuine, almost as much as in his appearances on G-Club. I don't really want him upset for my amusement but he makes me feel it.
Skies of Arcadia is my number one favorite game of all time. To me it is the perfect game. You can nit pick the little things about it, like too many random battles or whatever, but for me, it has such a complete and wonderful story, bright colorful cast of characters, all with a certain level of depth. No copy paste npcs, every town and area is different. It feels like real adventure discovery and whimsy every where you go. Getting a steam port of it with achievements would be the ultimate. I'm not hating on this list, just been watching Skies of Arcadia stuff and leaving a comment hoping typing into the void over and over will one day get us that skies port, remake remaster, whatever. I just love the game so much.
Glad to see Sonic Adventure 2 at the top of this list. I was born in ‘95 and never owned a Dreamcast, but I’d played SA2 Battle on the GameCube and it was certainly one of my fondest childhood gaming memories
I'm told Skies of Arcadia is pretty good. Have yet to try it myself though. Hopefully, when (when, NOT IF) they start porting GameCube games to the Switch, the GameCube version, called Skies of Arcadia Legends, will be among them.
It's almost cathartic hearing someone else acknowledge the greatness that is Sonic Adventure 2. It is the work of art that defines our era of humanity.
"The Dreamcast is under rated"
-Literally Everyone
But in a lot of ways it is, simply because N64/GameCube/GameBoy and PS1/PS2 overshadowed it. I'd say there are a lot of people who appreciate and enjoy it, but it just didn't get near as much lime light.
Volair so basically ur saying it is under rated and further proving my point.
So you think it is underrated as well?
if literally everybody was saying is was under-rated it wouldn't be under-rated

I read this comment before that part of the video came up. And man….what the hell is that 😂

Adventure 1 is pretty many, and some parts didn't age well, but it's still one of the best 3d sonic games
Man, Sonic Adventure 2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. I think it took me a year to get all 180 emblems; what a journey.
Here's my most favorite dream cast games (in no particular order):
10.Jojo Hftf
9.Power stone 1 or 2.(both are great)
8.Crazy taxi 1
7.sonic adventure
6.shenmue (both games)
5.street fighter 3 third strike
4.jet set radio
3.sonic adventure 2
2.skies of Arcadia
1. Marvel vs Capcom 2
I agree, though i wouldve put JoJo a little higher imo. Why was the dreamcast so good for fighting games?? Lol
have you ever played Guilty Gear X or Capcom vs SNK 2 on Dreamcast? Both in my opinion are better than Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Skies of Arcadia was on that shelf, possible Completionist Episode in the future? Might be better to play through the Gamecube version though, the extra content is worth it imo.

truly a great gaming machine

I love Big the Cat, always will.
Me too
Weirdo
Fuck that cat
Want to know what I don’t love? The sonic fandom.... fuck them.
I felt I needed to say this
Big cat, big heart
Skies of Arcadia is amazing
i would trade sonic adventure 1 to this gem
It's so amazing that both its protagonists appeared in ALL VALKYRIA CHRONICLES GAMES! (Except Revolution BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT because that's an ALTERNATE REALITY GAME!)
Definitely the best RPG of its generation.
Jeremy Stradling yep, it sure was. Why on Earth hasn't SEGA rereleased it over PSN or Xbox live yet? Can't believe he didn't even mention the game.
(No particular order)
1. Worms: Armageddon
2. Power Stone
3. Power Stone 2
4. Sonic Adventure
5. Sonic Adventure 2
6. House of the Dead 2 (with official light guns)
7. Marvel vs Capcom
8. Buzz Lightyear of Star command (it’s great trust me!)
9. Rayman 2
10. Crazy Taxi
I loved Quake 3 when it first came out but unless you have a keyboard controls take A LOT of getting used to now!
I used to Play Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast at my friend's place all the time as a kid. We weren't very good at it, but we loved playing it.
Over-Rated Gamers tbh i heavily prefer it over sonic adventure 2. better soundtrack, cooler gameplay, more characters, better overworld that u culd explore at ur own pace
Yea sonic adventure one soundtrack is amazing. Who could forget E-101's boss battle or E-102's theme or the inside of Red moutain
My 10 favorite video games in no particular order:
* Mortal Kombat Gold
* Virtua Fighter 3tb
* Power Stone Series
* Fatal Fury: Mark of Wolves
* Zombie Revenge
* Capcom vs SNK
* Resident Evil: Code Veronica
* Soul Calibur
* Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Series
* Grandia 2
This is a great list! Grandia II is one of my favorite games of all time, and I’m so glad it was remade for current consoles. That game with Resident Evil would keep me coming back to the Dreamcast.
Finally, someone has finally talks about the positive things about Sonic Adventure 1&2.
I always had good memories of both, and actually prefer 1 over 2, simply because I like hub worlds. But I also played 1 more than 2. That Super Sonic boss fight in SA1 was rad and probably one of my favorite game memories from the DC.
Same
Funny in maina review not to long ago, he said no good Sonic games since 3 and now says the adventure series was good again.
+Zero_OR 5 hes scared of the sonic fanbase so he talk good things about it
Sonic Ace 24 Figures
U know what? It IS my favorite Sonic Game!
:)
Makes it even better we ended up with Sonic X that put both games in an anime those 2 games were my childhood and when I seen that on TV I was going insane.
I use my Dreamcast more than my PS4. I'm not even exaggerating.
I use my Dreamcast more than my PS4 because I don't have a PS4
I use my Ps4 more than my Dreamcast.I'm not even exaggerating. (I don't have a dreamcast)
Same because like the other veiwer TheGoldenFreezer, I don't have PS4 :3
i mean, mvc 2 vs mvc i
How?
There was a game I happened to see on Kickstarter a few days ago, a 2D platformer that's releasing, among other platformers, on the Dreamcast. Not sure why, but that got me super excited for some reason - I love seeing how much love the old Sega systems get even today.
Aw no Skies of Arcadia love!?!
Power Stone 2 is the only reason why I hold onto my Dreamcast. There has never been, and never will be, another game truly like it ever again.
Good choices babe
LOL
The mention of Dreamcast brought you here within seconds didn't it? Lol
Well it is a great system.
I was just watching your videos and of course here you are lol
please do a review on crazy taxi
does it beat your list dreamcastguy?
Best Dreamcast Game(s): Shenmue 1+2
For a second, I thought you were saying part 1 and 2 is 'less than' 3. Was like wtf?
@@jajabinx35 thats obviously supposed to represent a heart
@@Nebujin383 LOL SAME
Skies of Arcadia is easily my favorite, one hell of an RPG.
I absolutely loved Jet Set Radio, one of my favorite games in general besides the Sonic Adventure games and Crazy Taxi
Its so funny becuase i always rembered it as jet set radio but the real na title is actually jet grind radio maybe its the mandella effect
What? On a Tuesday? Lucky boy!
The Whiskey Dic Sonic Adventure is dope! Jirard has great taste in video games! You rock, my brother!! Man, I'd love to play with you and come on your show!!
Loved the DC to bits! Sonic adventure was the coolest thing I'd ever played when i was a kid!
U have earned a subscriber buddy :)
Big the cat is the best thing about sonic adventure and everyone knows that
You know it.
(But seriously: I don't remember hating it, or having any strong feelings one way or another. Guess I need to go back and give it another go.)
I remember the feeling frantically attempting to get out of playing his stages. If I remember the game well enough, the stage progression was an out of order sequence for who is going to be required to play as at a specific time...and I would think please let me pick someone else...this is back in 2001/2002...so my memory is hazy.
fucking thank you
Reeeeeeeeee
#10 - Hydro Thunder
#09 - Soulcalibur
#08 - Tokyo Xtreme Racer
#07 - Omikron: The Nomad Soul
#06 - Sonic Adventure
#05 - Marvel vs Capcom 2
#04 - Armada
#03 - Skies of Arcadia
#02 - Phantasy Star Online
#01 - Star Wars Episode I: Racer
oh yeah tokyo xtreme racer
Tokyo Xtreme Racer was dope! but I remember playing Le Mans 24hs more
I love the Dreamcast, it’s so underrated
This is no longer the case. It's way better than the PS2, Gamecube or XBOX.
@@iwanttocomplain Sure fanboy, keep trying to convince yourself of that bullshit
Overrated actually. Sega committed various dumb mistakes with the Dreamcast. Using CDs like the PS1 instead of DVDs like the PS2, the controller is also atrocious ergonomics wise. Just because Capcom dumped many of their ip's on the DC trying to capitalize on Sega's last breath in the hardware business, it doesn't make the Dreamcast the second coming of Christ like fanboys want to believe
In reality the Saturn is way superior of a console to the Dreamcast, it's Sega's best console in fact
I've never played any Dreamcast games, other than SA1 and 2...
...on the Gamecube...
Great list though.
I love those types of personal lists. It's really interesting to see how games affected lives of people :з
The Dreamcast is one of the best! Thanks for doing this!
"I'm not wearing a suite for you. Piece of shit cat." Best line of 2017. Thank you sir haha
As far as I know, you're the only member of Normal Boots who still uploads regularly and you're also my favorite. Keep up the great work!
20 years since the Dreamcast release coming in 2 years... September 9th, 2019
What?! Wow time flies...
Some of my personal favourites:
Shadow Man
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Toy Commander
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Sonic Adventure
Kiss Psycho Circus
Still my all-time favourite console!
No Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Shenmue, or Phantasy Star Online? That's odd. Also, what does Acclaim have to do with Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast? Sega developed and published it.
Grandia II still has the best battle system in a turn based game I've ever seen.
Acclaim did the other console ports... which might mean that...
JIRARD DIDN'T ACTUALLY PLAY IT ON THE DREAMCAST!!!
And no Rayman 2!
Amazing list! Thanks for keeping the Dreamcast faith alive, buddy!
Looking at Jirard's sub count makes me angry. How is he not at 1M subs yet. He's real underrated and deserves to be there already.
There are youtubers out there that clearly should have broken 1-million a long time ago. That One Video Gamer is one.
Another is Northernlion. It's honestly ridiculous that he hasn't hit 1-million yet. His views are really high for his sub count and he's been putting out consistent content for years.
because people that cause dramas and make disstrack on each other always in the spotlight
Explosive Poptart how you feeling now
Skies of Arcadia, full stop, is my favorite game of all time. It combines every good rpg trope with a great battle system, amazing music, and a game with so much missable stuff that I still find something new on each playthrough, despite getting the title saying I’ve found 100% of the games extras and secrets.
I grew up on a Dreamcast in my early childhood, two words........ TOY COMMANDER!!!!
Damn same here !!! That game was one of my favorite dream cast game along with fur fighters
your choice of music for this video is bringing me so many good memories of my dreamcast days, goodness.
Dynamite cop was one of my faves. I beat that at least 100 times.
Your captains long dead.
7:08 ... bought a 2nd light gun for this baby, beat its 2 player two-handed solo & flawless, all survivors saved, on highest difficulty.
Dude you got to Complete the sequel to Jet Grind Radio, it's on the Original Xbox and titled Jet Set Radio Future.
Hou Yi
Dude getting the Jet Set rating on every stage in that game is a BEAST! I never completed it.. and then my Xbox died..
That's a really nice surprise and touching story about your dad.

Sonic adventure was dank af. Fight me if you think otherwise.
I'd never want to fight Guko. Fortunately, I agree with you.
aight lets go.
Guko _ I won't do it, but the majority of the fanbase nowadays will
Extremely buggy and tons of death causing glitches sounds like an immense third party exaggeration.
Even on the DX port which is way messier than the Dreamcast original.
The Crazy Taxi soundtrack was literally like 6 songs by Offspring and bad religion and I never got tired of it.
Best arcade port honorable mention: "HYDRO THUNDER!"
That's so awesome you played HOTD2 with your dad Jirard, my dad was the same way. He hated video games but made an exception for light gun games so they hold a special place in my heart.
Please, please, please, please review Skies of Arcadia
Absolutely Love the Dreamcast. It's my 2nd fave barely behind PS2 & SNES, the game variety alone was massive and the graphics always felt just a bit "more" than the other consoles of the time.
Your #1 is SA2, I can approve this. Nice work!
Fuck yeah! I grew up playing SA2B on the GCN. I loved it then and i still love it now. Nostalgia glasses an inch thick at this point.
Crazy Taxi and SoulCalibur bring back very nice memories! :)
How the hell is Shenmue not on there?! Did you not play it back in the day?
lolz
it wasn't very good, when the best bit was playing the classic games in an arcade, there is a problem with the game.
TheGoreforce if you feel that's the best part of the game, play them on an Emulator, rather than in Shenmue
rented it as a kid it was weird and slow. I would like it now
What you said about you and your dad playing video games, I believe is a true memory for all gamers. My dad never had an interest in video games and would play my sega once in a while with me. He would run shoot and die immediately and it made me laugh so much. Great video but even better memory.
Shenmue fans incoming in 3, 2, 1...
I really wish he'd at least given a "special mention" or something! That game was revolutionary and is still my favorite game on the DC. Sure, the "sailors" chapter is a bit meme-y, but its still great!
Do you know where I may find sailors?
Figured he simply hasn't played it, but maybe he has? I had a DC but was under the impression (when I was younger) that it wasn't a great game. Simply haven't gone back to play it.
Anyone who told you it was bad should have their lips sewn shut! It's blasphemy to say such things! Without Shenmue, Yakuza would not exist, and many other similar styled games wouldn't have been nearly as grand. Shenmue set a bar and without that bar, companies would still low-ball costs and we wouldn't have things like Heavy Rain and the like.
Aw man, now I feel bad about forgetting about it. I even remembered Skies of Arcadia.
Yo man I've used RUclips for years and I don't think I've ever left a comment.
That stuff you said about your dad - Respect
As you said near the start of your vid "Many if not all of these games have connected with me for totally random and weird reasons."
I lost my older sister. She wasn't a hardcore on the game consoles when we were growing up but there were a select few games that me and her binged to the max. I don't have to tell you now prominent and nostalgic those games are to me now.
Powerful stuff.

My Top Five Games (because they're the only ones I still have) + My Top Five Games I wish I had for it are as follows:
Top Five Favorites:
1) Soul Calibur - My brother and I played the snot outta this game, and we used to go to the arcades in the local mall and play it there and be surprised at how much better the graphics were on the Dreamcast than in the actual arcade!
Top Five Games I want for the Dreamcast:
1) Skies of Arcadia - This is one of those RPG's I wish I could've played when it came out, but back then, my local game shop didn't have it in stock.
And coming in at number two, it's called CRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY TAXIIIII!!!
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
That's it.
Personally for dream cast games Id have to go with the 3D fight Rival Schools
Spent so meany hours daying the game.
Rothur The Paladin Rival Schools is life #RivalSchools3
I would go with Spiderman 2000
I’ve only been collecting for the Dreamcast (and Saturn) for a few months, and damn it has so many amazing games. I’ve poured my time and received more hours of enjoyment out of my Dreamcast than I have from my PS4 or Switch. Although not a top ten list, here are my favorite Dreamcast games in no particular order.
1. Marvel Vs Capcom 2
2. Sonic Adventures 2
3. Crazy Taxi (I love the Offspring)
4. Resident Evil 2
5. Dino Crisis
6. Jet Grind Radio
7. Grandia II
8. Capcom vs SNK
9. Power Stone
10. Seaman
And while I’m at it, considering that I’ve been playing a ton of Sega recently. Here is a list of my favorite Sega Saturn games.
1. Panzer Dragoon
2. X-Men Children of the Atom
3. Resident Evil
4. Nights Into Dreams
5. Shining Force III
6. Marvel Super Heroes
7. Mega Man 8/ X4
8. Croc
9. D
10. Street Figher Alpha 2
Did yA ever play skies of arcadia i wonder
For my Top 10...off the top of my head, anyway:
10. Test Drive 6 (mostly for that music video)
9. PenPen TriIceLon (still a guilty pleasure today)
8. Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles
7. Hydro Thunder
6. MvC2
5. Looney Tunes Space Race
4. Soul Calibur
3. ChuChu Rocket!
2. San Francisco Rush 2049
1. Sonic Adventure (didn't have SA2 on DC else I'd tie them)
Gave you a like for mentioning Pen Pen Triathlon, glad Pen Pen wont go unoticed!
I may not have played the Dreamcast, but seeing these icons on the system makes me all the more FURIOUS that Sega has decided to focus on SONIC, and not bringing back some of these classics for new consoles.
I've been waiting for at the very least HD ports of Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue I & II for far too long now.
Steve Samuals I agree, i think Jet set radio (for example) can sell well, even if its just a port to the switch or something.
To be fair, Capcom and other third parties are responsible for a lot of games on this list. Sega re-released a lot of Dreamcast games they own the license for.
No Shenmue? I sank at least 100 hours into that game. One of the first true open worlds that was actually alive.

Good good you affirmed my nostalgic bias for SA2. You get to keep receiving Patreon money from me.

Either he shaved off his grey hairs, or he dyed his beard idk?
so strange, right? I was thrilled when I found salt n' pepper hairs on my beard. Jirard should embrace going Clooney.
Of course, in the end the only person that really cares about your hair color is you lol
diamond eye his daddy issues, and early midlife crisis are a part of the charm of this channel
diamond eye I have greys growing and I'm a freshman
So, sonic adventure 2 is my favorite videogame of all time. I'm so happy to see it get love from you too.
Yeah,adventure 2 is awsome :)
Soul Caliber was amazing, still holds up even today.
SA1 fundementally is a broken piece of trash. However, it seems like everyone loves it in their own way. Except Arin.
I love the bit at the start of #8. Jirard's frustration sounds pretty genuine, almost as much as in his appearances on G-Club. I don't really want him upset for my amusement but he makes me feel it.
Generic comment
I played Code Veronica X for the PS2 but I'm still glad that game is receiving some love today. :D Lots of great memories with it.
It's always nice to see a fellow SA2 fan, bless you.
great vid as always dude. keep it up!
Hair looks good too.
I gasped when you threw that chao.
It's almost cathartic hearing someone else acknowledge the greatness that is Sonic Adventure 2. It is the work of art that defines our era of humanity.
