Great song, amazing rendition. Reminds me on my schoolmate, Rene. We used to listen to U2, Pearl Jam and many others in the early '90s - in schoolbuses, breaks and lessons und went to see U2's ZooTV Show together. He passed twenty years ago. You're not forgotten, my friend and I will cherish those days we had...
Amazing how they can sometimes make old songs fit to the style and context of current tours. U2's songs are universal and won't fade with the times they were created in.
spine-tingling stuff. Re-watching this whole concert, i've had the chills about 5 times already. U2 concerts never fail to do that, no matter how often i've seen them. I love the way bullet the blue sky led into this song, and how this goes into streets have no name..... with the lights, bono's harmonica over those droning tones...the energy in that arena..... i wish they still did shows like this
this has to be one of the all time greatest live performances of a song.haunting and chilling is correct but it inspires feel in a person.outstanding.thanks for sharing.......ken
Edges repetitive "clangy" guitar riff and one of the most incredible bass parts Clayton has ever played make this into such a memorable version which I will never get bored of. It gives the song so much depth and edge, just incredible.
i seriously love this song i have been lucky enough too take my son and wife to the last brisbane concert 360 tour best thing i"ve done totally blessed u2 forever
Esta es a mi entender la mejor version en vivo de Running to stand still. Que gran tema, el intro de the edge, el bajo, todo; los gestos de Bono, el timbre de su voz. Lo maximo U2
I saw them years ago at a little community college in New York state (I was young!)...it was AWESOME!! You could feel the excitement, the intensity, the passion & love for their music & messages.
i'm a long time U2 fan, their music is sublime i think and this is my number 1 U2 song of all times..it has a special place in my heart..thanks Bono for poetry
I've liked U2 since Unforgettable Fire and I finally got to see them live in 2009...so those of you waiting to see them you'll get to one of their gigs eventually and they're well worth the wait! :-)
2:56 my heart goes out to anyone that has seen a loved one or friend suffer through addiction, be it alcohol or drugs, not to mention the families heartache. A silent prayer for my (ex)wife, may she find serenity some day.
The best song written - all about hope for the human condition and struggle - so inspiring - sad, hopeful and uplifting at the same time. My favorite of all times!
I wish that, someone would invent the Time machine, so I could travel back in time - just to see Zoo TV live.... I was 7 years old at that time... feelin soo sory about not beeing able to be a part of this awesome show!!!!
I like this live version and the quality of video and sound it great! There are others but not of this quality! thanks for posting this version, love it!
Bono= king of ireland, rock god, and saint to thousands and millions who have survived or their lives have been improved thanks to Bono and his charity and humanitarian work!
Joshua Tree is perhaps one of the all time greatest albums. This song, along with One Tree Hill, Trip through your wires, Red Hill Mining town, are all excellent U2 songs that were overshadowed by the other big hits (e.g I still haven't found..., where the streets have no name, with or without you).
this song was wrote about my close pal who grew up with Bono. Bono seen Andy in the height of addiction grown up together and this song is about running away from addiction in Ballymun Dublin. Andy is now nearly 6 years clean and a born again Christian. Enjoy this song
couldnt have said it better myself. this has to be one of their greatest live acheivements and possibly a live gig that will be remembered with some of the great historic live gigs. like you say. spine tingling stuff. always will be too!!! would have given up alot to have been there, and ive seen them in dublin on thier home turf. but this was something special
was there too 1993 Zoo Tv concert remains the best Concert I have seen Even better than the Guns n roses Concert !!! THis was at there Prime for sure !!!! My fave U2 Song along with love is Blindness Such passion > Problem today Wheres the passion Gone ?? 4 love not Money !! agreees with The chief Amazin ! thanks for posting Paulo :P
First saw u2 at Roundway park in Leeds 1993, then 3 times in 2005 in the space of a fortnight, I've seen hundreds of live bands but apart from his political rants they "were" without doubt the best live band of the 90s and mid notices
I agree about the political rants etc, but no one can hold a crowd like bono and u2,particularly at their peak. I haven't bought their later stuff mind
You now what, it's my prefered song (with Bad and a lot of beautiful songs of U2) but this song can sang for any problem in the world and here it's agains't drug . No drug !!!
"Streets" followed this performance during this tour so you can imagine the amazing buildup to it. After the harmonica all the screens eventually turn red and the organ for Streets begins.
All 8 people who dislikes are without of sense , i think they don't know what is a real voice for live singing....and bono have this, the best singer in live....no one can sing like he sings...
Fantastic song from a truly great rock band at the very top of their game. FYI - this song is about Ballymun, a v tough area of north Dublin which suffered hugely from drug addiction. There were seven high rise tower blocks which were synonomous with Ballymun - hence the line "I see seven towers, I only see one way out"
This version owns the one on Rattle and Hum SO MUCH...goes to show how much they improved as a band between 1987 and 1993. Bono's singing is so much more nuanced, Edge's guitar arrangement more creative, and the rhythm sections tighter and more organic. And the ending hallelujahs...chills.
Me convencí de que esta canción es un verdadero clásico, luego de habérsela escuchado cantar a uno de mis actores favoritos, el siempre impredecible Ewan Mc Gregor.
I thought they were holding up cameras and phones for a second. No...they were in the moment holding up hearts, peace signs and their hands to the music. Must be nice.
this song sends chills through me. It's magnitude
is beyond measure. I agree with many of you. This
is definitely version of the song. Amazing!
Great song, amazing rendition. Reminds me on my schoolmate, Rene. The man knows how to put on a show.
This is my favourite version of this song.
Amazing how they can sometimes make old songs fit to the style and context of current tours.
U2's songs are universal and won't fade with the times they were created in.
To my uncle who passed away 15 years today through his demons. We still think of you.
spine-tingling stuff. Re-watching this whole concert, i've had the chills about 5 times already. U2 concerts never fail to do that, no matter how often i've seen them.
I love the way bullet the blue sky led into this song, and how this goes into streets have no name..... with the lights, bono's harmonica over those droning tones...the energy in that arena.....
i wish they still did shows like this
Cry without weeping, talk without speaking, scream without raising your voice....
Words to live by....
this has to be one of the all time greatest live performances of a song.haunting and chilling is correct but it inspires feel in a person.outstanding.thanks for sharing.......ken
One of the greatest performances of the song.....visually it shows exactly what its about....amazing.
seriously, words can't describe how amazing this band is! just incredible
Just another classic, played live to perfection by the best, yet the most humble band on the planet.
this performance brings tears to my eyes. It sends thrills through my body OMG just simply amazing
You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking...
This is the best song I've ever heard...
It makes me better than I am!
Edges repetitive "clangy" guitar riff and one of the most incredible bass parts Clayton has ever played make this into such a memorable version which I will never get bored of. It gives the song so much depth and edge, just incredible.
What a performance from U2 at their peak, such a shame they won't reach that zenith again
Sometimes things happen in your life and you have no control ,
and a song just brings you to tears and makes things ok
I have been moved to tears at u2 gigs once or twice...
i seriously love this song i have been lucky enough too take my son and wife to the last brisbane concert 360 tour best thing i"ve done totally blessed u2 forever
No other Band in the world can ever reinvent a song like U2 do ,
they do covers of there own song and live ,
to me that is truly amazing !!
i'm a long time U2 fan, their music is sublime i think and this is my number 1 U2 song of all times..it has a special place in my heart..thanks Bono for poetry
Wow, wow, wow. I'm dumbfounded, thank you U2. This song is one of the best song ever written and sung by a great singer ever. Hallelujah.
This song makes me feel weird, bin trough it all.. never agian.. u2 is my dope.. cannot go without them
I've liked U2 since Unforgettable Fire and I finally got to see them live in 2009...so those of you waiting to see them you'll get to one of their gigs eventually and they're well worth the wait! :-)
2:56 my heart goes out to anyone that has seen a loved one or friend suffer through addiction, be it alcohol or drugs, not to mention the families heartache.
A silent prayer for my (ex)wife, may she find serenity some day.
have to admit this version is growing on me, great song whenever I hear it, cheers
My dad's favourite song other than stairway to heaven, gonna learn it for him :)
Le temps passe le frissons et toujours là
........!
Stunning performance. Chills.
"Cry without weeping, talk without speaking and scream without raising your voice" - this means so much in such powerful words - brilliant poetry!
A song that brings back memories of another place, another time. Moving song.
Probably the greatest live performances in the history of music.
I agree
Crushes me EVRY TIME he starts to sing "Hallelujah" . . . every cussing time!
That voice must reached heaven that day
This is the defenition of perfection you can´t possibly get any closer to the issue..
Makes you just totally speechless..
what would this awful world be like without great music like this to heal our wounded souls?
I get choked up EVERYTIME I watch this video... the end is just awesome.
The best song written - all about hope for the human condition and struggle - so inspiring - sad, hopeful and uplifting at the same time.
My favorite of all times!
Absolutely one of the best versions!
my brother brought me to u2! love you, joe!
RIP Dave....gone never forgotten
awesome guitar part!! never heard the song like played like this... Just love it :)
This song is so powerful..I just had to see this....
I wish that, someone would invent the Time machine, so I could travel back in time - just to see Zoo TV live.... I was 7 years old at that time... feelin soo sory about not beeing able to be a part of this awesome show!!!!
The Greatest Band in the World!
U2... can send chills down your spine... and i mean that in the best way possible... their songs just make you think... Thank God!
This is probably the best song ever. Period.
He is singing directly from the heart
I like this live version and the quality of video and sound it great!
There are others but not of this quality!
thanks for posting this version, love it!
Bono= king of ireland, rock god, and saint to thousands and millions who have survived or their lives have been improved thanks to Bono and his charity and humanitarian work!
The Best Solo Ive ever seen!
Great version to a great song, from a bigest band!
what a voice......nobody sings with passion like that anymore.
Long time to.enjoy this.son. great song at the end
This is a master showman. He is the best. There is no comparison.
amazing version of this song...Zoo TV was my first concert.
It reminds me of friends, lost, trying and those who dont give a damn......Prayers to all! BTW, I think im in love !! Bono!
Sublime.... !
goose pimples justhearing the opening bars.. magnifique!
Just great, U2 at their finest
Every single time u listen to this track, it cant get any better, it cant get any better.. & then you hear this :))))))))))))))))))))))))
Bono is an amazing voice here an incredible version so powerful
If his heart had toes, then that is where he "brung it from".....incredible...
this song was wrote about my close pal who grew up with Bono. Bono seen Andy in the height of addiction grown up together and this song is about running away from addiction in Ballymun Dublin. Andy is now nearly 6 years clean and a born again Christian. Enjoy this song
Halleluja!!! Thank you Jesus!
stunning song, stunning version,
saw u2 at wembley stadium in 1987.they were brilliant!
Wonderful... What a performance...!!!
One word: Fantastic!
I love the hallelujah part! makes the song so much more emotional and sooooo beautiful (without it its also a cool song)
couldnt have said it better myself. this has to be one of their greatest live acheivements and possibly a live gig that will be remembered with some of the great historic live gigs. like you say. spine tingling stuff. always will be too!!! would have given up alot to have been there, and ive seen them in dublin on thier home turf. but this was something special

Gotta love this song!
The best preformance of this great song.
Chills are running down my spine and all over my body...
I hope that they will remember these songs in Athens!!
So. Powerful. Thank you for posting this all those years ago.
You now what, it's my prefered song (with Bad and a lot of beautiful songs of U2) but this song can sang for any problem in the world and here it's agains't drug . No drug !!!
sometimes there comes that which is purer than pure gold....
grace,love and peace........
All I can say is *WOW*.
U2=BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!
this video is magic! :D
"Streets" followed this performance during this tour so you can imagine the amazing buildup to it. After the harmonica all the screens eventually turn red and the organ for Streets begins.
zoo tv for me..greatest tour ever
All 8 people who dislikes are without of sense , i think they don't know what is a real voice for live singing....and bono have this, the best singer in live....no one can sing like he sings...
best version this song!!!!!
A sad yet fantastic song about the horror of Heroine addiction. peace x
U2 is a great band. I wish their concerts weren't so expensive and more available to their fans (i.e. not sold out in 5 minutes)
i dont know how to put this in words, but this is simply the f****ng best
For those still running may god be with you
What a performance Bono!!!. You're super...
