I would like to mention 3 other Canadian designers: Lorene Salt is a canvaswork designer based in Ontario. Linda Lachance of NorthernPine designs is also a canvaswork designer out of Ontario. Finally Karen Dudzinski of Textured Treasures does canvaswork, pulled thread and counted cross stitch. I think she’s in Ottawa. I have stitched pieces from all 3 of them and really enjoyed their works
I hope you had a nice Canada Day and thanks a lot for this video! Some of the designers you presented are favorites to me, like Tiny Modernist, and it's always nice to have more information about them! Till your next video 😍🍁🧵🪡
Thank you for a wonderful video jam packed with great resources! I have ordered Erin Elizabeth's Canadian Sampler to start whenever it arrives! Thank you for the encouragement to support our talented Canadian designers! Happy Canada Day!
Thank you so much for your work in compiling a list of Canadian designers. Some of them were new to me and some I have met in person at Stitch North retreat. I would like to add Darlene D’Eon to your list. Christine from Ontario
Fantastic video Arica! Hats off to you for thinking of canadian designers on Canada day. Thanks for advising that Thea Dueck has videos, I wasn't aware. I've got the Earth sampler from decades ago sitting in my patterns box still 😏
Thank you for this wonderful video. I did not realize how many of the stitchers were from Canada. I started watching Samantha ( Hygge Stitcher ) from her first flosstube and of course you as well. You are both amazing and so knowledgeable. Happy Canada from Newfoundland.
Thank you so much for doing this 🇨🇦 focus on designers and I am excited to hear about the Canadian swap. I recently finished one of Darlene D’eon’, patriotic designs and just started Erin Elizabeth’s newest design of the flag.
Hi Erica, the history teacher in me is loving that stitch, especially the face that it includes part of Flanders Field. Thank you so much for your willingness to share yours and information where a copy can be found. Happy Canada Day
You are so welcome! I’m happy to hear you are interested in the design, I’ve really enjoyed stitching it so far and seeing the definition between all the reds and how it brings an image to life :) Thank you for tuning in today and sharing your time with me!
I’m not Canadian, but I was born on Canada Day, and now my younger daughter has married a Canadian and has settled in NS, so I’m on the “annual summer visit” plan for the rest of my life. 😉 Last summer, I stitched Hands On Design’s Oh Canada as well as Erin Elizabeth’s Canadian Smalls. This year, all things Jeanette Douglas has been on my list! ❤🇨🇦
So you are an honorary Canadian! Jeanette Douglas designs are such a delight to stitch! I hope you enjoy your summers back east - it’s so beautiful there :)
Hi Arica - Perfect video for Canada Day. It is so wonderful of you to feature Canadian designers. Some of them are new to me. You are the King and Queen of enablers. 🤣😍Unfortunately, Carolyn Mitchell is no longer designing - she has retired, but her list of designs is still up on he website. You cannot buy from her directly anymore so if you have the designer and name of designs, you can get them elsewhere. She is a member of the Winnipeg Guild. Another member in Winnipeg is Kathryn Drummond selling as Gingerbread Girl. You can get her designs in various shops. She has a few tutorials about specialty stitches and has a variety of styles available.
Yes, it’s sad when it comes time for these wonderfully talented designers to retire :( Also I find many of the aging designers still like hard copies only and it makes it difficult to acquire so of their designs. I feel like once they retire so does their art :( It’s a similar story with my Maple Leaf Montage design. Anyways, I have added Kathryn to her list - thank you for watching and Happy Canada Day!
Happy Canada Day! :) Thanks for the list of designers! I love the Christmas Village! And available as pdf download, no expensive out-of-country shipping! I now have yet another Christmas project! (I still need to visit the other sites) ❤🤍❤
I am a big fan of Victoria Sampler! I have stitched all of the first five levels of her beyond cross stitch series, as well as several other patterns. I also have all of the gingerbread village series but have yet to actually stitch any of them. I look forward to seeing your stitching of the tree and hopefully that will encourage me to start the village. Thank you for this video! I enjoyed seeing all the Canadian stitchers.
Wonderful! I have love them as well and fear we will loose a lot of their patterns as she winds down the company as they aren’t sold through many stores, or at least the big ones which would give them that exposure. They are truly wonderful!
That was a great video! I learned so much from that. The Carolyn Mitchell totally surprised me because i used to shop in her store when I leaved in Wpg 20 years ago! I also didn’t know the Victoria Sampler was Canadian! I have loved that one from them that one that you want to do for this Christmas. Now I’m so inspired!!! Thank you.
Thank you for tuning in Joanne. There are quite a few interested in stitching the gingerbread tree etui and maybe we should do a Sal this winter… hmmmm
Thank you for this video, I am thrilled to get this information! I have already ordered my 2 starts for Canada Day start from Shannon Christine. I am so stoked❤😊🍁
What an interesting video! I’m in the US but as far away from you aside can be. I always enjoy learning about other cultures, and especially our lovely neighbors to the north.
I have just recently found out that Victoria Sampler is a Canadian designer and now, thanks to your video, I find out that it is not a lady called Victoria, but a Company from the Victoria province. I am fascinated by their designs, very elegant and very details, complex stitches and all that on small designs, they truly seem to be a piece of art. As an European I am very glad that Victoria Sampler sells the charts as pdf, that way I can have access to them . Thank you for the video! Happy stitching!
Thank you so much for tuning in and sharing your comments. It’s actually a city named Victoria in the province of British Columbia. They have so many great patterns - I want to stitch them all! Happy stitching 🧵🪡
Thank you for the video. Such great information and the smalls swap sounds like such fun I’ll have to sign up myself. Collen Harron of Needlework Adventures is another Canadian designer, Darlene D’eon Designs and Pansy Patch Quilts and Stitchery are another few I can think of for Canadian designers.
I love the Canadian flag montage pattern. I stitched mine back in 2004 on 28ct rue green linen along with her dime and nickel patterns and I just love them! I pull them out every year about mid june to enjoy them for the next 3 weeks or so.

Thank you for tuning in and mentioning Blueberry Ridge Designs - that one is new to me. Pansy Patch has been added earlier today as well. Have a wonderful long weekend and happy Canada Day!
Fabulous video…thank you for alerting me to some more Canadian designers. Have you checked out Pigeon Coop designs….they have a series I just purchased with each province and territory individually stitched in an on point square and their animals have charming inclusions of Quaker like patterning. Rocking Chair stitcher is a young and new designer. Darling and Whimsy has an amazing array of Quirky Quakers that all work for the smalls exchange. Darlene d’Eon is a stitcher and quilter who has released patterns that include the Canadian flag. I am so excited…thank you so much!🦉🇨🇦
Very enjoyable video just in time for Canada Day! It made me pull out some of my Canadian charts just to have a look. Some other names to add: Dragon Dreams, Enchanting Lair and X’s and O’s. Not sure if any of those designers are still actively designing, but I have a few vintage charts in my stash!

I think at the end of the day one doesn’t need to worry about keeping up as it then becomes stressful and h the point is having fun in your stitchy community - enjoy doing what you can :)
Great video! I believe Pansy Patch Quilts and Stitchery is a Canadian design company. Since you like fancy ladies, have you seen Joan Elliott's Canadian Beauty? I also wanted to let you know, I use large wooden quilting hoops when I do beading. They come in round and oval sizes.
Great video! Love the idea of creating a resource to discover Canadian designers!! A few to add to your list: Pansy Patch Quilts and Stitchery Sweet Violet stitch co (on Etsy) TeaJeigh Designs (on Etsy) Pigeon Coop Designs (he has a book coming out soon!) A New Creation Studio I know there are others I’m forgetting, I’ll be back to add more 😂
Hi Arica, what a wonderful idea for a Flosstube! I loved your spotlight on Canadian designers. My plan had been to buy a pattern while traveling, but unfortunately didn’t make it to a Stitchy shop. I do have a Maximum Cross Stitch pattern, but am waiting on getting the Roxy floss. A few of the others you mentioned I do have patterns on my wish list, but now am particularly interested in checking out Victoria Sampler. Thanks you again for another wonderful episode.
Thanks so much for tuning in Karen and taking the time to comment. What do you think of the gingerbread tree? I’m contemplating doing a SAL if enough ppl are interested. I think it is so fun!! And the Roxy floss - best floss you will ever touch! Worth every penny and the wait :)

Haha this is funny, literally as you were watching my video I was watching yours!! I am using 350 and I find it orange, now that I’ve seen yours you have me wanting to change it but I’m nearly done that side of the flag now so I’m stuck with it. Yours looks great :)
@@FibersandFlossCanada By the way, in hindsight, I would have moved the phone down by 2 rows (to center it vertically in its box). I can see it now but am unwilling to go back and fix it.
Hi Erica, I have a question about beading in cross stitch. I have a Bella fFilapina Bellatrix Ive started however I dont know what to sew the beads on with, is it some of the floss or cotton or is it a much stronger cotton or furniture thread that doesnt break - if you could let me know Id very much appreciate it.
Thanks for tuning in Lisa. I prefer YLI invisible floss. I have done a whole video on beading and I talk about all the thread options! It’s on my Mira May playlist on my channel - you may find this helpful and should answer all your questions :)
Arica, Are your eyes that rarest of all colors, gray? Mine are blue-gray. I've never met anyone with truly gray eyes, but I've been wondering if yours are? Sorry, I know this is a wacky question. lol
@@FibersandFlossCanada Wow! I'm impressed I now know OF someone with grey eyes. Green is so beautiful. My dad had forest green eyes when I was a kid but they were a bright true blue later. I asked him when they changed and he said I don't know -- I don't look at my face that often. lol

@@FibersandFlossCanada By the way, in hindsight, I would have moved the phone down by 2 rows (to center it vertically in its box). I can see it now but am unwilling to go back and fix it.

Thank you for sharing your time with me tonight :)
Love the video! Happy Canada Day!
Witchy stitcher, is it possible you would mean Gothic style?
Thanks for tuning in tonight, I would say she could be gothic style but she doesn’t mention that on her website…. 🤷🏻♀️

Sorry, I know this is a wacky question. lol
Haha it’s ok! They are actually very green but in the videos it’s hard to tell bc the lights…. My sister however, has truly grey eyes :)
@@FibersandFlossCanada Wow! I'm impressed I now know OF someone with grey eyes. Green is so beautiful. My dad had forest green eyes when I was a kid but they were a bright true blue later. I asked him when they changed and he said I don't know -- I don't look at my face that often. lol
Love the video! Happy Canada Day!
