DIY- How to make a Lined Zipper Pouch with Easy Zipper and Tab End technique
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 июл 2024
- In this video, I'll demonstrate an excellent technique for sewing a lined zipper pouch without adding small tabs at the ends.
This method ensures a clean finish on the bottom lining seam, with the opening positioned on the side seam for a seamless look.
Ironing fusible batting onto the outer fabric and boxing out the bottom corners gives the pouch the structure and body to stand upright.
Additionally, I'll introduce my unique and stylish Knotted zipper tab design, which is not only original but easy to grip when closing the zipper.
This pouch makes a great gift or product to sell.
In this video I cut 2 x the main fabric , 2x lining and 2x fusible batting - 10" X 7" each
The tab is cut 7 ½" long x 2 ½" wide
The corners are cut 1" x 1" and then boxed out.
Finished measurements approx 9" wide at top x 7.5" wide at bottom x 5.5" tall x 2" deep at bottom

I know you put the measurements on screen which is great and the finished size in the description but could you also list measurements in the description along with fabric and zip used etc? Very few channels do this-thank you. Love your channel and so glad I found it😊🥰
All done! You can find measurements in the description and another tip is that you can download transcripts videos 🙂
@@NotchesSewing thank you 🙏 that’s perfect - so few channels do this!
I think because it’s already in the video and a lot of people don’t even know how to look at the descriptions…..

I love that Lucy and Ethel fabric. i was hoping you would tell us where you bought the Lucy and Ethel fabric.
I was just told that you can find at Joann’s
❤
Thank you. This was brilliant. I never saw that way of making the tab. I am wondering if I can use a regular zipper that's longer, keeping the pull on and trimming off the stoppers later. Or, could a regular zipper be cut and the pull be put back on?
Yes, absolutely you can put the slider back on. I have a video about using a cheap zipper jig too. Cheers
Love this bag & ordered the #3 zipper tape but will this size be suitable for a not too large tote bag. Sorry to be a nuisance in asking! Much appreciate your responses.
Yes that will be fine. If you don’t have a heavy duty machine, the teeth are easier to sew over. Have fun!
@@NotchesSewing no don’t have a heavy duty machine! Loved the way you folded down the edge of the zip so you could machine all round but being a nylon zip you could machine over it when putting on your delightful tab 👌😊
Thanks glad you like it😊. Will have a zipped tote bag tutorial in the future.
@@NotchesSewing that would be great many thanks - perhaps you could incorporate a zipped ‘outside’ pocket with the pocket on the inside !!
Hi again what is the difference between fusible interfacing and batting - both seem to be medium weight? Many thanks -got my #3 zipper tape today so will make this lovely bag soon❤😊👍
interfacing is flat and batting has a thickness to it. It will give the project a puffiness to it.
@@NotchesSewing Ah right thank you 🙏
What is the size of the finished bag? Thank you
9” across top 7.5” at bottom. 5.5” tall and 2” deep on bottom
Thank you
P.S. could I use this method to make a bigger zippered bag?
Yes, absolutely
Where did you find the Lucy fabric?
My best friend gifted it to me. It was actually another item but I didn’t like the quality of it and she was ok with me repurposing it.😊
@@NotchesSewing I love it!
Same! I couldn’t get enough of that show when I was a kid😊
Could you just use one long piece for outer fabric and one long piece for the lining which would just give you one side seam . The only adjustment would be for the one box cut out in the center which would be a seam smaller since there is the other box cut out on the open end which will require a seam. When that side seam is sewn ,that smaller box is now on the folded side. Am I making sense ? If the bag had an angle then it would require two pieces of outer and two lining pieces. Thanks. Lovely bag.
Yes absolutely. I didn’t want to add as an option in case it confused anyone. I had to use 2 pcs as the printed fabric is repurposed from another pouch that I didn’t like the quality of..😀
