Yo bro thanks so much. My middle school band teacher said we would not learn this cause it’s “too hard” but once I saw this It took me a few tries but I got it ❤️
Wrong! The original was played on a Tenor by Steve Gregory! It was recorded on a tape machine slowed down by one semitone, and later was sped back up [one semitone] (therefore it may sound like an Alto, but it's a tenor)
It was actually recorded on Tenor, the track was slowed down a halfstep to allow for easier fingering. Then it was sped back up which is why the sax sounds kind of in between a tenor and an alto.
@@SaxophoneMasterclasscheck out Dan Forshaw’s RUclips sax channel. He tells the story in detail about the recording on Tenor done by session player Steve Gregory, why he slowed the tape down to record it in the key that allowed him to do the glissando which he couldn’t do in the original key and also what George Michael said about the recording. I think Steve was about the 8th saxophonist to try out.
Thank you My Fifth grade music teacher said we will not be learning this. But this video help me so much I was able to write it down and played in a couple of tries. ❤️
yo i have a question could some one help me i played this and learned from a friend on my alto in band but now when i tried at my house i do the right fingerings buts it dose give the music pls some one help me
A lot of people are saying it’s a tenor. Not in the recording guys. It’s an alto sax. But it sounds super good on the tenor as well and that was always the sax he used at live concerts.

@@RipStray nah I didn’t show her it was just last year when I first started playing sac
It was a tenor they used on the recording not an alto…
The majority of the song is played with tenor but the iconic hook is alto
@@up_down6012in the live performance of the song they used a tenor

Didn’t know that, thanks for pointing it out!
Correct

You're welcome Bill!
Bro you meant it thank you
How do you play the 2nd to last E on a alto sax? (Sorry I’m having trouble figuring it out)
Just like low E but with octave key just make sure your embouchure is correct
Oh my gosh thank you your a life saver 😭
Dude.....review tonalities. The tune is not in DMajor...IT'S MINOR! B MINOR on alto sax (which is D minor concert key)
Do you hold the octave key all the time
yo i have a question could some one help me i played this and learned from a friend on my alto in band but now when i tried at my house i do the right fingerings buts it dose give the music pls some one help me
Could you do it for tenor
Correction: That's not D-major, but it's relative minor, B-minor!
For the first not isnt it the small key next to b with the octave key
That is what I always played it as
I use D C# B F# D for the first part
do you know the notes for a tenor sax?
Me trying to find why my g# sharp key isn’t working and finding this
Me with a tenor 😪
it’s the tenor when played live
Please sir, full song notation... please
I love you 🥲
Not me trying this on baritone and soubding bad 😊
Song in alto key B minor
Concert key D minor
Thanks! It is my first time trying this song I was a lil confused 😅
This didn't work for my also sax

Blud its a tenor in the recording not a alto
It’s a tenor sax pitched up a whole step, not an alto 🤗
middle school saxaphone players genuinley struggle not to play careless wisper
Is f# f flat?
Careless whisper is on tenor tho…
It was tenor
Yeah no it’s actually a tenor
Whit tenor sax is better
No
Just learn it by ear
You just learn how to read music score.
And you can play most of music/song.
Of course, to get good sound, you need practice.
Thank you
