    This is mad! I watched you ten years ago in my bedroom and you came up on my recommended and I'm in my third year of midwifery, so glad to see you doing well 💕

    This was so interesting, I really enjoyed the video! :) I'm starting my midwifery course in September and I didn't realise midwives have more potential to earn more than nurses. I would love to see more midwifery videos! perhaps about how you deal with nightshifts, what the social aspect of working in such a female-dominated workplace is like, e.g. any bullying or bitching/catiness or even if you've only had positive experiences with it, what you'd wish you'd known about being a midwife, your plans are for your future in midwifery etc xx

    Wonderfully presented again and very true to how it is. I think you would make a great Nursing or Midwifery Lecturer

    Ahh I love you, this is so great to hear your stories and experience. I'm looking at taking the midwifery journey instead of nursing, having had two children I feel so ready for this. So glad to hear the autonomous aspect of things because that's something I enjoy also. Makes a stressful situation less intense 🥰

    Great video, very informative! I was having an internal battle on deciding whether to do nursing or midwifery, but my heart is set on midwifery. I think as a nurse, I'd find it hard to deal with unwell people, whislt midwives on the whole look after pregnant women. I'd also like to further train into ultrasound. Thanks!

    hi alex, thank you so much for this video it was just what i was looking for! i’m currently in my last year of sixth form doing a levels and can’t decide whether to do nursing or midwifery at uni. the thing i’m worried about for midwifery is that is it a lot less varied than nursing and if i get bored or don’t want to continue with it then i only have a degree in midwifery, whereas for nursing i would have larger lists of job prospects. so my question for you is which overall course/career did you enjoy more, nursing or midwifery? 💞

      @zineb yassini hi!!! omg no don’t be sorry i tried to talk to as many people as possible because i just couldn’t decide so it’s all good! i actually submitted my uni application literally 2 weeks ago and i ended up choosing nursing! i honestly get bored so easily and i was scared of not experiencing the variation if i just chose midwifery. the broadest nursing choice is adult nursing so i went for that as you can specialise in LOADS of areas later on, so i might end up doing a placement on a neonatal ward and figure out that’s what i love and pursue it later or i could hate it and be really glad i didn’t choose midwifery, who knows!!! it’s scary but i just thought what’s best for me was to keep my options open because i’ve not had any experience in any areas mostly due to covid. but like i said you’ve just got to go with what you think is best for you, and remember that if you do choose nursing/midwifery and don’t like it you can always drop out!! it’s not the be all and end all and you can do whatever you want with your life! that’s what’s got me through some really anxious times. i really hope this helps and best wishes with whatever you decide to do xx

    Hi, love your video just what i needed. I have been trying to get into medicine but due to having young children limited on unis. I have now decided on nursing or midwifery I love children and babies but I was wondering if you can still work up to ANP through both adult and child or midwifery? Currently stuck as I need to do my ps and apply. Maybe doing the same as you and doing the nursing then midwifery top up. Can you advise which is best for progression to being able to prescribe? Thank you x

      Hello in the UK does it have something called a Certified Nurse Midwife in which you're a nurse with a master's degree in the UK? Or do most midwives do direct entry??

    • @alex27393
      @alex27393  3 года назад +2

      So sorry Clover!
      I personally enjoy midwifery more but nursing has a broader spectrum of jobs and opportunities. General nurses are paid at a band 5 and general midwives (once preceptorship complete) are paid band 6 so that may come into decision making for you too. Go with your gut xx

    Hey can I ask a question? In the UK are most midwives direct entry midwives or are there also APRN with a master's degree?

    • @alex27393
      @alex27393  3 года назад

      Hey! Mostly direct entry. There aren't many universities that offer conversion for adult nurses.
      Thanks for watching!
