    When I was a kid, I used to watch vlogs or videos of labour (not in a weird way) which my parents HATED, and they took away the internet for almost 3 years! So I’m 16 now and I just think this job was made for me. I always wanted to do this, so I’m not giving up 😅

      Honestly me too!! Im 15 turning 16 and im going in 11th grade this august. And it never disgusts me i watched on instagram a woman give birth naturally and the blood was dripping down her leg and everything and i was just watching. I believe that i just enjoy birth because its so special to just see a baby being brought into this world and brought into life, and I cant wait to go into the midwife profession. Although some of the things she listed is me im not backing down from this profession and i will try to change myself.

    When I was about 3 my mom got pregnant and hired a personal midwife. The midwife was one of the nicest people I have ever meet and I remember thinking I wanted to grow up and be just like her. I had forgotten about this untill a couple years ago when I really started thinking about college and what I want to do. I am now 15 and looking at what collages offer the midwifery program. I'm hoping to start being able to really save up for the student loans I know are coming my way but I am sure this is the field I want to go into.

      Watching this clip has increased my excitement of Midwifery as a career option. Another thing to possibly add is: can you juggle all the areas of your life, especially while you are a student. I hear that the caseload is HEAVY in Nursing anyway, and that Midwifery courses require study and placements, lectures, meetings, and all the commitments of taking a full-time course at Uni. If this sounds difficult, then Midwifery is not for you. I hope that this video has armed many more people with the confidence and enthusiasm to choose Midwifery, because I think it's a calling :)

    Hi! I’m highly considering midwifery as a career path. My only concern is that I am on the shy side. I do communicate quickly and effectively through email. I’m most worried about the words I use when I’m speaking verbally as Im not always as eloquent as I’d like. Do you think schooling & training would help combat that or should I look elsewhere for a career?

    • @hannahb7038
      @hannahb7038 9 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think it's impossible to be a bit on the shyer side, however if you're backwards or prone to being pushed around/told what to do, it may not be for you; Midwives and OB/GYNs both need to have strong personalities to do the work that they do well.

I’m stuck with the option of choosing midwifery as my job or doing law. The only thing I am worried about for midwifery is that it’s too heavily science based, I’m not amazing at chemistry but am getting good grades in biology (7-9). I know you asked her, and not me, however I would personally try to assure my patient that they're doing great, and offer techniques to reduce the intensity of their contractions. i.e. a hot bath, putting mother in certain physical positions, etc. This is where birth doulas really shine...I'd like to think at least most other nurse midwives or OB/GYNs would react the same way.
