Oh my God I think she has one of the best voices (or maybe the best voice) in music ever. Even today. She is 60 years old now, and she still can sing as she did back in the 80's
Cyndi always puts feeling into her singing and gives a wonderful performance and the ending is beautiful! It’s so wrong to compare Cyndi’s version with Gene Pitney’s,they each give their own rendition in their characteristic style!
Seen her in 2010 in Montréal and at the time she was 57 and still had the " torque " for a outstanding show with professionals as always. Performed as originals. Real artist, real woman, real 100% :D
This is nothing-short of magnificent. She didn't resonate w/me when I was a teen; "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" IS, undeniably, a perfect Pop song - but I had it played AT me too many times. It wasn't until several years later that I saw an interview with her, and was completely awestruck at her candor, strength, compassion, and brilliance. A Songwriter's SONGWRITER, she has something that (although not anything actually like Edith Piaf, in-terms of style) hearkens-to Piaf, somehow - which is not to imply that there's ANYTHING derivative about her; she's her own universe; and I kinda feel moved in my soul by her music and integrity. She's a living legend.
Every time I think I have figured out her talents she surprises me with another one. Now i find out she plays the accordion. How many different instruments does she play?! She is not just a talented singer.....she is an great artist!!
Wow! This is a real voice. About "Twelve Deadly Cyns..." it is just a shame they didn't include great songs like "A Night To Remember", "Goonies" and "Heading West".
This would've been the new I Will Always Love You in 94 had her label and radio promoted it a lot. A missed opportunity for sure considering the glass breaking force of this song and her unmatched vocals by any other diva then and now.
this the video u told me about? lol! wow she's so pretty here and get voice is so beaauiful! omg! that song make me cry! it was this one song she sung....that high note had me jump...can't remember the name of it! anyways, omg she did better here then blue Angel! wooooowww!!!
Sliver Davis Wooow she did nailed this better than when she was in the Blue Angel group?? Omg...lol I listened to the right one then hahahahaha I just LOVE Cyndi Lauper she's very funny, gorgeous, and has a powerful voice!!!
I'm not talking about the finger snapping - I'm talking about your idea that waiters "are paid to be polite; grit your teeth and get on with the job." They are not paid to take abuse, even if they are a "sodding" waiter.
I wasn't saying finger snapping is abusive - I'm referring to when customers actually are being abusive they will not be tolerated simply because they are "paying". The customer isn't always right. I've worked sales most of my life and do not tolerate any rude or abusive customers. If they don't like my response, they most certainly can go elsewhere.
Madonna talks her jealousy crap towards Cyndy for good reason . Madonna can't touch Cyndy's Heart , Soul , and Singing talent. 😍✨🌟💫💥🔥🙉🙈😏😎😬😵🌈🌋🤗🤑🤒🙃😳😉🤔🙄❤👌😧🌞
I waited on Cyndi back in the 90's and she SNAPPED at me to get my attention. I DID NOT APPRECIATE IT and let her know, she wasn't very nice, but I always forgive her when I hear her sing, Just don't ask me to wait on her again.
Since when does YT have a character limit? lol Finger snapping can be overlooked as typical dumb behavior but flagrant rudeness or abusive behavior pretty much gets their head taken off. No matter how high or low on the chain I am, I've never been reprimanded for putting them in their place. If they truly get out of hand, then a higher supervisor can finish taking their head off. The customer isn't always right. lol
How am I supposed to know if you're still a waiter or not? Anyway, the point is that whilst snapping your fingers isn't exactly the most polite way to get someone's attention, you had a job to do, and that was to serve your customers. He (or in this case she) who pays the piper calls the tune. You're being PAID to be polite; grit your teeth and get on with the job.
+welshnproud59 you mean totally owned it? :D Cindy has this fabulous voice and instead of just doing a regular cover, she takes the song and makes it her own. I grew up with Gene Pitneys version but when I heard Cindy's I was sold. It just speaks more to me than his does. Far more melancholic, underplayed and less bombastic. My kind of music
+welshnproud59 you're entitled to your opinion, of course, but your crude commentary does suggest to me you're the sort who also goes, "wots this, this newfangled rubbish, we don't need this, the old wone's working fine just the way it is!!".
+dracuella lol so wrong on all levels I love all kinds of music from old to modern but she trashed that song started off great but then ended up screaming and spoiling it sorry but that's my opinion like yours is yours x
who could ever sing something like that live in a tv show? I think she should change the final words today in a feminist sense "you kiss me good bye/ how I´ll get up and/ try/try/try/tryyyyyyy
I'm not referring to "who", I'm referring to you. You're quite aware that I'm referring to this comment. "You're being PAID to be polite; grit your teeth and get on with the job."
Juice Newton wishes she had a modicum of Cyndi's vocal talent and interpretive musical art. Twenty-two years after this airing of this clip, Cyndi remains a consummate creative force. What a singer!
2019!! And still love this song and think Cyndi Lauper is one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever! Let me know...let everyone know...if you agree by commenting. Peace!
Cyndi is for sure one of the greatest talents and has written some beautiful songs. “I’m Gonna Be Strong” however is not in her glorious catalogue but was written by Cynthia Weil and her husband Barry Mann. It was one of or perhaps Gene Pitney’s biggest hits. He recorded it in 1964. I love this live version and all her live versions of this song. XO
She deserves more recognition. She's up there with the legendary vocalists.
Oh my God
I think she has one of the best voices (or maybe the best voice) in music ever.
Even today. She is 60 years old now, and she still can sing as she did back in the 80's

Brilliant performance! Great song to highlight Cyndi's vocals that are both- tender wisp and powerful force.
Cyndi,Dusty,Janis, and Donna are the truly great voices of the 20th century,no others need apply
Every time I think I have figured out her talents she surprises me with another one. Now i find out she plays the accordion. How many different instruments does she play?! She is not just a talented singer.....she is an great artist!!
This is the only person who covered this song and did it justice. She's not Gene Pitney ... but she's the next best thing.
Few would even attempt to do this song. She rocked.
After all the hoopla...this woman can really SING!!!
I really miss the era artist are real talent. Cyndi is a true legend.
Stunning, a really star!

CYNDI, I LOVE YOU. SUAS CANÇÕES FAZEM PARTE DA MINHA HISTORIA.
I could listen to a whole album of Cyndi singing to this kind of arrangement
Very impressive performance - 12 Deadly did very well for her selling 6 million copies worldwide. Cyndi has definitely had her chart moments :)
Fascinante....amo su voz, su estilo, su sonrisa....
I love the very end of that!
Always felt she had one of the best voices in Rock and Roll....this confirms it....such an original.
lol dude the intro was gold
Quelle performance WOW!
Outstanding live singer, I notice she's using an SM57 mic live during this period, weird mic choice, it was made for instruments not voices
Well her voice is no doubt an instrument
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
30年ずっとファン😫もう1度、日本で観たかった😢
Love that hair.
Amo essa mulher a 29 anos...
The best femalesinger of north america. Just luv er
This would've been the new I Will Always Love You in 94 had her label and radio promoted it a lot. A missed opportunity for sure considering the glass breaking force of this song and her unmatched vocals by any other diva then and now.

They certainly are not paid to be polite when a customer is being abusive. Anyone who's ever worked in customer service knows that.
love
Amazing......
Few would attempt this song.
I did not think this song could be sung better than genes version. I was wrong.
I agree Jose
Yo tengo ése compa de mi chica loca de, Cyndi Lópe💜😘😘

Ano de lançamento 1994. Agosto. So nao me lembro o dia..
Song starts at 3:00
And my point remains the same - being polite is part of the job.
Yes. The original artist Gene Pitney himself.
Way ahead of her time
Madonna talks her jealousy crap towards Cyndy for good reason . Madonna can't touch Cyndy's Heart , Soul , and Singing talent. 😍✨🌟💫💥🔥🙉🙈😏😎😬😵🌈🌋🤗🤑🤒🙃😳😉🤔🙄❤👌😧🌞
I miss Gene Pitney more now.
SuperDino2222 Cyndi
Go straight to 2.53 if you don't want to hear all the mumbo-jumbo
would love to hear Madonna screw up this one though
Dont destroy Cyndi Lauper!
Still bitter about Cyndi being a unknown flop ha?
HELLO!!! Can we say National Treasure..????!!!
Sure, unless the customer is rude or abusive.

OMG the vid takes 3 minutes until the song begins... :-/
Who was abusive? Read the original comment properly.
Great singing...terrible camera work...don't cut away while she is belting out the notes.
Was that a cat being throttled?
"I want my M T V..."

Is this available without all the intro crap?
I really thing Juice Newton sings it better by a long SHOT.....
Juice Newton wishes she had a modicum of Cyndi's vocal talent and interpretive musical art. Twenty-two years after this airing of this clip, Cyndi remains a consummate creative force.
What a singer!
