I picked this song because I have seen Cyndi in concert 4 times and every time, she did this song live. The last time I saw her she did it acapella and the audience gave her a standing o. Just shows off what a great voice she really has. Thanks all!
Great request...I had never heard it before!!! Love Cyndi! Blessings to you. 🙏😁♥
One of my top 3 favorite songs of all time. I have the Blue Angel self-titled album on vinyl (the original copy I bought in the 80's and a replacement copy I bought a few years ago). I also have one of only 5,000 copies that was made on CD.
The most under-rated artist ever. No she can sing live like this.
She always moved a lot when she sang. She used to play around with moving acoustic effects, like singing into an electric guitar to get cool effects.
This is an old Gene Pitney tune, and Cyndi Lauper did a cover version with her first band "Blue Angel." Oh still has some serious pipes...:) Love it!
This is a cover of a 1965 Gene Pitney version. She just knocks it out of the park! The emotional connection is incredible!!!
Holy Smokes is right 😱 WOW! That girl can sing!
Cyndi and Madonna came around about the same time. I and a lot of other people thought Cyndi would go futher than Madonna.
Faye Dunbar She should have and would have if she jumped on every trend train like Madonna did. But she stayed herself. I always liked Cyndi much better!
She definitely is a better singer than Madonna ever will be! One of my favorites is all through the night by Cyndi Lauper
@@FierceCompetitor-f7x Madonna also slept her way to the top. Somehow, I can't picture Cyndi doing that.
Madonna sold her soul to the devil. Cyndy did not. Madonna hasn't a quarter of Cynd's talent.
Madonna was nominated 19 time but never won the Grammy for any of her songs .. Cyndi Lauper has 2 Grammy's and one of them she wrote her self ...Time after Time I think Cyndi is far more talented she writes music she plays many different instruments including the dulcifer she sing incredible even today ...if I had to chose I would pick Cyndi Lauper over and over and she wrote a musical . Kinky boots and won a Grammy for that...Cyndi Lauper is the Queen of POP.
She is my contemporary and was my neighbour in Tribecca, NYC back in the day. Wonderful talented hard working genius. She has never stopped. Respect
Wow... Did you ever meet Sparkles? :)
Alicia is right, so underrated, by me, too. While listening to the RSU station, I heard a great song, "Just You're Fool", a catchy, Harmonica driven Blues-rocker, with a uniquely voiced female singer. Suffice it to say it was Cyndi, and I've really paid attention since then. She's So Versatile! Did anybody see her sing to Cher? Still lookin' good and goin' strong at 66.
she cut a blues album in the late 2000's I believe it was
I've seen her sing this live and she kills it just like this. she's amazing. back when this was filmed in the late 70s/early 80s it was typical for the shows to make them lip synch.
first time I heard this song was off the album Blue Angel, in the early 80's. Cyndi fronted the band Blue Angel and they were mostly rockabilly. Fell in love with the song and Cyndi and have been a fan ever since.
Cyndi Lauper True Colors ❤️
Totally. Another of my favorite songs of hers.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is probably the main song Cyndi is known for, but she also sang some amazing ballads, which also happened to be released on the same debut album as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Those are All Through The Night, True Colors, and Time After Time, which has been covered repeatedly by many other artists over the years. I would recommend Time After Time as another reaction video from Cyndi's catalog of music. Also, other female singers with amazing voices that I would recommend would be Joan Jett (I Love Rock 'N Roll and I Hate Myself For Loving You), Bonnie Tyler, whose song Holding Out For A Hero you've already reacted to, but you should also check out her signature song Total Eclipse Of The Heart. The video itself is kind of trippy, but her vocals are astounding, and I would consider this to be one of my all time favorite songs. One other final recommendation; even though they are basically a one-hit wonder, another of my favorite songs is What's Up by 4 Non Blondes. The vocals by the lead singer will be sure to make you scratch your head at least a couple of times, I'm sure. I would venture to say that if you loved Melissa Etheridge's voice, you will love this song too. I love watching your reaction videos, and I wish you continued success.
She does a song called ‘I’ll Be Your River’ that is really nice. Great lyrics!
How did i miss this???? Man i was wanting you do this.
This is Cyndi when she was with Blue Angel in 1980. She re-recorded it in 1994 for her Greatest Hits collection 12 deadly Cyns. That is a lot of fun to compare, her voice is less wild, much stronger in the remake
This is not a live video, you are correct about that. Typically she does it acapella.
She was in Blue Angel here...Not yet SOLO...Hey Play "Maybe He'll Know" live from Blue Angel
Two head scratches tells us what you really feel 😊😊 She could sing on a trampoline 😀😀
Love Cyndi Lauper, she was crazy when younger.
Another great vocal performance by Cyndi Lauper is Baby Workout, live from Paris...Amazing, a must see!
She is covering a Gene Pitney song from the 60's - great version. You might want to listen to him also.
Also, this was an official music video for the band Blue Angel; so they were lip synching to the record. The band never made it but Cyndi kept it in her repertoire.
Cyndi is the fucking best!!
Wow! I have never heard this one! Amazing!
She dances and climb stairs in all her live concerts. I never heard this song.
Yes, Cyndi is showing how well she can perform and sing here. It would be interesting if you reacted to the earlier version by Gene Pitney, studio version. And listen right to the end for his crescendo.
You seem to help expose people to all types of pure talent. TY!
Im gonna be honest.. i thought no one could ever do a Gene Pitney song.. The man had a vocal range that was unbelievable. I knew Cindy Lauper could sing.. but she rocked this Pitney song.. yes it was a bit different.. but thats good. She did it her way.. great version.
You should hear her cover of; "At Last"! It shows her ability to sing a completely different genre than rock!
Yes, she is lip syncing ...there are other videos on youtube where she does sing it live and she is GOOD!
Cyndi is one of the most beautiful woman in music, and has the most amazing voice as well.😊Even in recent pictures of her, she's still gorgeous and hasn't aged hardly at all!☺️
This is definitely lipsync-ed. It's the album version from Cyndi Lauper's band before she went solo. The band was called Blue Angel and the album was self titled. This was the second album I ever bought back when I was about 8 or 9 years old (the first being Cyndi Lauper - She's so Unusual). I love it because I'm a singer and I love the power of her voice. I still sing this song around the house when no one is home because I can cut loose and sing with power.
I was so into Cyndi Lauper in the 1980's that I can tell you that she was not singing properly before she went solo and almost lost her voice before going to a singing coach who weirdly also coached Dee Snider from Twisted Sister. She also once hitchhiked across America with her dog, Sparkles. :D
I bought a biography about her from the Bookmobile at school when I was about 8 or 9, too.
The 80's had "friendly Rivalry" Male artists Michael Jackson vs. Prince. Female artists Madonna vs. Cyndi Lauper.
Love this song by Gene Pitney. That's real singing.
Ty, This was a music video with Cyndi's group Blue Angel, who did one LP in 1980. Yes, it was a lip sync video. Love this song, I guess because she uses her voice to the max
I heard this on her six deadly syn's album.
This is Cyndi Lauper before she was Cyndi Lauper, when she was in the band Blue Angel, 1980.
She is lip-syncing, because this song is the studio version from the CD. She does have an amazing voice.
She was doing this live. She has great breath control - even when she's moving around like that!
Yeah I think it was mistitled as live but she does bring it live. Check out When You Were Mine live at the 85 AMAs.
This was good and new to me. Gene Pitney did it first and its my favorite. There’s a good audio version out there by him if you want to hear the original!
💕 love it.
Review the live version, you wont be disappointed. Search for UK in your search it was promoted lots in the UK
This is actually the band she was in before going solo, "Blue Angel" - I once had their LP back in the 80s - it was rare then, near impossible to find now.
I got one of the 5000 CDs of this album made, and I got it back when it was only $15 new on eBay. Plus I still have my original LP I bought in 1984, but it barely plays. :)
you should do her cover of "At Last"
That wasn’t a live performance, it was on European TV. There were these stupid shows back then where they forced artists to lip. Everyone did them.
If that is lip-synched, she - & the whole band - do a superb job of it. But I've seen her live, and, at least when she was in her prime, she had terrific vocal control. Even while moving around.
Never seen this song. Musically it's a little too simple for my tastes, but she sure does _own_ it. She's theatrical as hell, but in a very sincere way - it's the way she is.
Pipes. Not live I agree
Pitney touches my heart this doesn't get there.
wow
Nice rendition but I think is a different interpretation than Gene Pitney had. Check him out.
I would like for you to react to money changes everything and when you were mine by Cyndi
Gene Pitney did the original version which is much much better!
loved pitneys version but cindy made it a fire breathing dragon.the voice on than woman is amazing.made rocks greated female voice?cant think of another who had the range she has
You need to do the original, Gene Pitney
Please listen to the Gene Pitney original
Originally done by Gene Pitney.
She has a good voice but I couldn't connect to the song. For me the lyrics don't mean anything and for me a song has to stir up emotions.
Gene Pitney's version is much better. And I love Cyndi Lauper, but listen to the original: ruclips.net/video/ldcZkWLOTCI/видео.html
you need to listen t the original - Gen Ptitney - much better
Jeez man how about less of I can do this that and the other you have an ego problem! Less intro more music, less is more!
Why do you go to the stores you go to in order to shop? Why do you go the gas stations you go to to get gas? Why do you eat at the places you eat at. Is it possible that you go because the places advertise what the have? Is it possible you go because these places advertise that they have the best prices, food, drink, etc. Do you go to your favorite places and tell them "you have an ego problem?" I didn't think so. You don't even know what this channel is about so I understand why your comment comes from a place of ignorance.
She is very underrated because of girls just want to have fun. She has some AMAZING pipes.
I know, right,,I realized she could sing the first time I heard G J W T H F told several people,,they just laughed
Out sing madonna any day even now live xxx
I haven’t heard this song but I love Cyndi Lauper and her vouce
Love Cyndi Lauper and her voice, but I, too, have never heard this song before. :-) I also recommend her hits "True Colors," "Time After Time," and "I Drove All Night."
Marcus Oh-really-us Gene Pitney around 1963.
It's been included on pretty much all of her greatest hits albums.
Cyndi is very talented. This was before she hit it big and changed her looks for the 80's. The song Hey Now that she sang for Too Wong Foo was written by Lolly Vegas the lead singer from Redbone. It's an extension of Come and Get Your Love. And Cyndi is Italian. Her mom is Sicillian.
Cyndi Lauper is one of the most underrated vocalists of all time. Her cover of At Last is beautiful
I've never heard this one until now. She's the best, one of those truly original talents. I've seen a lot of interviews and TV appearances/talkshows she's done and she also seems like such a funny, quirky sweetheart, a genuinely likeable person.
The difference between Madonna and Cyndi? Cindi can actually sing.
Love this. I love her work...remember when she first started out...awesome. Try her Who Let In The Rain........absolutely marvelous.
She is suuuuuch an underrated singer. I've seen her live and everytime she just brings it!
She still hits those notes today near 40 years later. she sings lots of songs like that for some reason they never get on the charts. I saw her sing that song that was Blue Angel pre-national fame. I was hooked. Only other person that impressed me that much was Rex Smith... watch?v=Dv_Uqj1kPRM Oh, is there not one maiden.
LOVE this song so much. This is Blue Angel, the band Cyndi was in before going solo.
She's amazing!!! I love her!!!
Good cover by Cyndi. Please see if you can get to play the original by Gene Pitney. And wait til his last long note.
One of my faves of hers so glad others know about it. Soooo underrated
This is an early music video, not a live performance. It's from the album "Blue Angel" by Blue Angel (her first band just before she hit it big as a solo).
Cyndi is just That Good. She has an amazing range and style of songs. I'd love to see you react to her song, Time After Time.
Cindy Lauper is still making music, and her voice has gotten better over the years.
Got a crazy song from way back when, think it'll give you a laugh. Napoleon XIV 'They're coming to take me away'.
Yeah, this was lip-synced because lots of shows required that of artists. But she has sung this song live plenty of times and sounds the same live. This TV performance is with her old band Blue Angel, and was in 1980, three years before her solo debut with Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Also, Cyndi was 30 when GJWTHF was released!
Lots of people know Cyndi for songs like GJWTHF, Time After Time, True Colors, She Bop, I Drove All Night, etc. but she really explores lots of styles.
I worked room service at the Columbia inn in md and served cindi a club sandwich about 1981ish. She was sweet, lovely, graceful, kind, beautiful, etcc.. etcc..
This was the original video in 1980. She was 27, and had been on a rough road.
Cyndi Lauper continued performing this song over the years.
Here is a live performance from 1994, when she was 41, where she exactly hits those same high note ranges. But, she had a respectable stage presence.
ruclips.net/video/ujvbg6BEm3k/видео.html
Also, here is a live performance, when she was 59, and still came pretty close to that same high note range.
ruclips.net/video/DHtx7e3jIdQ/видео.html
Finally, here she is at 66, this year, and still coming close to that same range.
ruclips.net/video/NZNAWXhH0L0/видео.html
Blue Angel, you don't see that often. I wish there was a video of her in her disco band before Blue Angel. When girls wanna have fun was out, I liked her then MTV showed that video that's when I tracked down the Blue Angel Lp Cyndi is one of the most complete catalogs in my record collection. Shortly after discovering Cyndi's range I discovered the male equal, Rex Smith, I had his lp in the 70s but saw the movie Pirates of Penzance and his range in the rendition of Oh Is There Not One Maiden Breast OMG!
Good....but not as good as the original by Gene Pitney....
Gene Pitney song listen to him . Condition is great but please try Gene
That was awesome!! I had never heard it before. Had no idea she has such wide range. Total respect and love for her craft! Great reaction, MRM...you're playing all genres of music 🎶🎺👍😁
Turn,Turn,Turn by The Byrd's w/lyrics.
You need to listen to the original singer of the song way better his name is Gene Pitney
what a voice, original by the great Gene Pitney
Listen to the original by Gene Pitney
Now go and listen to Gene Pitney sing it.
Newsboys We Believe
Blue Angel
I nvr heard her do that one.
Cyndi had Amazing stamina...all her live concerts involved alot of physicality....believe me, she was MORE than capable of maintaining that voice regardless of her body movements...watch a live concert footage of her performing "MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING"...you will see!
Want a good one? Look for:
_I Am Strong - The Grascals with Dolly Parton_
It was written after a trip to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
You'll want to see the official music video rather than a live performance with this one. ='(
Yeah, that wasn't live. She sure can sing, though.
This video was a lip synch to the album. I've searched a bit and found only one actual live performance on RUclips.
PLEASE DO ACHILLES LAST STAND LIVE BY LED ZEPPELIN (KNEBWORTH 1979)!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved her. So well, unusual. Just a vivacious , soul. I never met her, but you could tell she was the kind of person that could light up a room , just make everyone happy because she was there.
She is just amazing back then and now as an adult....she still sounds the same! Powerful
I do not remember hearing this song before. I like many of her songs and now this one.
She did Gene Pitney proud on this cover. She does have an incredible vocal range!
