In France, dating multiple people at the same time (s3xfriends excluded) isn't well looked upon, because it seems like the person is not interested in us but rather in having any relationship. Especially if intimacy is involved, usually one kiss during a date already means that a committed relationship is being initiated unless specified otherwise. We don't have any clear establishing codes because dating is already considered pretty much serious in most cases (we don't even have a real word for 'dating someone', we just use 'seeing someone'). I've read Americans have had bad experience dating French people because of this, the French person thought they were an item while the American person was in a 'dating' phase and seeing other people. So yeah, a committed relationship is the default setting here, you actually have to specify that you're seeing other people or just want to date and see if you want to avoid any misunderstanding, otherwise you'll easily be considered a cheater/player.

What a great video! Joy is a lot of fun. I think we'd be friends. Everyone on the panel is lovely! I really appreciate when people actively want to hear opinions and ways of living life other than their own.
As a Sri Lankan, we DO NOT bring it up but eeeveryone gets started YOUNG. They make it so taboo and restrictive that kids automatically get curious and make really bad choices in an unsafe environment. I didn't know periods existed until I got it and I cried for so long when I saw the blood cuz I thought I was dying.
This is a great case in point for why sex ed and open discussions are so important. Sorry you didn't get a heads up before that happened... :( that sounds so scary.
Do they really? I'm a diaspora Sri Lankan and it seems like Sri Lankan culture is conservative and people even living here lose their virginity in their 20s or at least as an adult
I´m from Uruguay ... and as in Brazil we are very affectionate when we meet people . It´s very common here to greet with a kiss in the cheek to almost anyone is presented to us, fem or masc. and not only young people .. Even my father in his 90 years old does kiss and hug his friends... Sex education at home ... when I was 8 or 9 years old my mom gave me a book named " How my body works" ( a sex ed book for children) and told me to read it and then ask her any question that came to my mind . She is super open . When I was 14 my grandma (85 at that time) watched me getting ready to go out with my friends and very seriuosly asked me ... Do you have protection ? take (handed me some bills )... buy .. I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED !!! Me and my friends where still very naive. We where going to a friends house to watch some movies with cookies and chocolate milk !!!. On the other hand ... my father some years ago asked my mother if we talked about sex ed. ... My mother with a very seriuos face answered ... noooo..... she is still too young! ( I was around 40 at that time
In France ppl don't have a lot physical contacts with stranger actly, maybe "la bise" to greet each other but they won't hug each other or this kind of thing.
1. American's do not touch each other if you don't know them in general, some do but most do not. Do not hug me if you don't know me! 2. Dating around is ok if you are not committed to one person 3. I know several people in the LGBTQ+ community 4. I had sex for first time at age 13 5. sex education was either by friends or school for me, however I taught my kids. I have no trouble talking about sex or dating issues with my kids and they are very open to me, so much so their friends freak out how we talk about it over dinner like explaining how your day was a work. I would have rather my children know the facts and not some crazy story from other kids like I had. Educate!
@@dejavu6514 I agree with you on that I've observed that asian culture is more reserved and not has "fast" like errrbody else and that's why I respect y'all alot.
I'm a Sri Lankan and most people here are Buddhists. Some people are conservative. We mostly don't talk much about it. People here take things politely and slow, like in a innocent way. Some people wait until marriage to lose their virginity.
Of course I can only speak from my own experience, but as a Swiss I feel like we are more open about sexual topics than Korea, but less open than the other 3 countries in this video.
In some aspect I prefer the Korean mindset. I like to keep things polite and private. Also I like to have certain standards and not to be 100% open minded. I feel like nowadays morals are missing from our lives and it’s sad.
You hit the nail on the head with the last sentence! What strikes and surprises me the most is how some people(especially nowadays)treat sЭx as if it's nothing and some just sleep around with anybody like it's not a big deal, when in reality you have soooo much to lose from doing just that with anybody(especially as a woman, it's actually biologically proven), I know a few girls who have been living this lifestyle for a while and they're A MESS emotionally and mentally. Again,I try not to judge people because it's their life at the end of the day. it's just so bizarre to me to let somebody in my pants when I don't know them well, I need a few good months to get comfortable around you and I want to see if you're serious about me before ANYTHING at all.
i agree 100%. although i am all for "live and let live", i also don't agree with something that gets so out of hand that society becomes chaotic and many lose morals. it's not always about "let adults do what they like", when these actions could very well affect and influence children to grow up with little respect for themselves and lacking important morals. like the comment from N K above me, i agree on everything as well. there is always going to be people taking part in those type of relationships, but it becoming so popular and normalized feels like we're going backwards as a society.
As a guy from Sri lanka I agree with your point 👍. Most of us are Buddhists here. We don't treat sex as just some sort of "food". People here like to take it politely and slow in a innocent way. But the western culture is slowly changing our culture too😑 through social media. Although I agree sex education is needed, I still believe that people should treat sex as something that's special.
Oh, you said it, and it's true, not only morals are missing, but also the awareness that not everything revolves around sex, or going out with anyone, that's just getting in the way and not everyone realizes it, that's bad. It harms everything, comparison in relationships, emotional damage, lack of affection, STDs, AIDS and much more. I'm Brazilian, to each his own, but I'm happy that I see people from other countries who don't agree with this culture of making out.
I'm Nigerian and I gotta say our sex culture is almost the same with Korea, although we don't have sex Ed. Most people don't get the talk, I know I didn't I still haven't gotten it and sex is frowned upon if you're not married cos we're a very religious country but it doesn't mean people don't do it tho they just wait till like university when there are no parents around to monitor or stop them and most times friends give you sex Ed. Sometimes physical relationships start in secondary school(high school) but it's like a sport trying to hide it from some snitches and teachers.
Thats weird everyone i knew coming from Africa told me that sex and dating culture there is even more free and loose than in Europe or US. I know Africa is huge and Muslim or Christians conservative countries might be more strict, but still, I thought that there is even this male cult of reproduction and having a lot of sex in life.
@@Aggoenix like I said I'm Nigerian, it's not like there isn't a sex culture among the youth but it's kinda like the parents don't know or don't want to believe that it happens especially when their daughter is involved so it's kinda like outta sight outta mind for them till it's not. For instance you're a female child in Nigeria all you hear your mum tell you till university is finished is don't follow boys or men, they lie and stuff like that until one day she asks you when you're getting married? Cos your mates are doing the same. Anyway the fact that it's not looked upon favourably by our religions doesn't mean it doesn't happen(sex) it just means it's hidden.
I'm from America and relate FAR MORE with SK representation in this video than the American (Joy) who was an extreme example of openness compared to the average American. No right or wrong - just matter of fact.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that Western sex culture is overly open and superficial, many people treat sex as a handshake, too much influence of basic animal instincts, and things like fidelity, devotion, love are perceived by many as anachronism, conservatism and backwardness . I think that people are still not animals and should strive to be something more.
Agreed. Sex has become very primitive again and is more seen as a recreational activity driven by instincts while the spiritual value of it is completely undervalued. Most likely a negative side effect of the loss of religion in western societies.

Just like Melodie, I'm French. I think she resumed well sex/dating culture in our country. It's pretty much open about... Well, everything 🤣 Actually, it's so much natural for me as a French woman that when I started to discover about Korea, I was shocked by the big taboo that sex is 😱🤣 I was like: " Do they not do the babies the same as the reste of the world?" 🤣🤣🤣
Part of it stems from Chinese influence on South Korean culture. Confucian principles were used to classify and develop society where everything had its place. It was disrespectful to talk about sex since the parents were above the children in society. As children you just do what your parents say. You never question. Obviously, this has made it difficult for children to learn about the world and themselves.
@@alexisn97 About sex, in Korea, i think talk more about it would be a good thing, I mean just don't make it a taboo, to learn to young people about it, and that is normal etc... But in France, in the contrary, I think we should show/talk less about sex... It's everywhere... 🤦🏻♀️
I’m not sure what I think is better because I do believe that it is good to have an open discussion about sex just so that you are aware of how it works and about potential risks and to be ready when you are ready, but I don’t want relationships to be so focused around sex. And we also shouldn’t loose virginity at such young ages because we don’t have to grow up so fast
No Korea please don’t change! You’re best the way you are! Europeans countries are great but I personally don’t thing these all types of things are healthy for mentally or physically
It’s interesting because I feel that everyone should be free to do what they want but their is a consequence that comes with that wether it’s a good consequence or bad. In many western countries the way that they value relationships is different from countries that still maintained the basic evolution of how relationships work for the most part that’s why in the west there’s so much chaos and lack of understanding. Countries who adapt to the western secular way hurt from it I notice like some Eastern European countries.
@@BriellaSornFonte I think people should always have freedom, no matter where are they from or what do they believe. When society forces you something you don't agree with, then that's a problem. We humans are naturally free beings and sadly we invented many things to loose this natural freedom.
I disagree. I hope Korea changes for the better. It's dangerous to not have sex ed and open conversations about reproductive health. That's how you get STD outbreaks and teenage pregnancies. It's not a good thing to stay as is.
At least theres some honesty & most time our kids don’t have to hide, keep secrets, not be safe etc. as a mum it’s not nice because our kids are growing up. Their 15 & 12 we just spoke to my son again about sex education & will do again when daughters older, she did sex education at school when she was 10 & 12. I’m now 35 & got pregnant with a coil (contraception) I gave birth 4 weeks before I turned 19. I’m British Indian & we have a lot of respect for our elders but, they’re also realistic. My parents talked to me about contraception & mum took me to doctors before I even had sex & I had a coil at 16 (just incase) because I’ve had freedom I wasn’t so bothered to date, compared to peers who did more in secret. I’m a Psyc Prof & sad thing is most of my patients are high risk, risk to life, severe emergencies & the root cause for youngsters suffering & families due to lack of communication, lack of awareness & willingness to learn, which is wrong mentality for parents. As soon as all are realistic, all are learning, have a better understanding all around. Sending love from 🇬🇧
👏👏👏👏👏 Kudos for all guys and gals. Inside of theirs cultures they were open and sincere about limitations and contexts of theirs owns natives sex culture and education. Claps for all, each one spoken they real flow about sexual reality on each world, Jamaica, France, Brazil are open, yet in toher side Korea is more observer and attentious and close, but a cherishfull country too.
I think I am open minded, there’s only ONE thing ! I cannot believe that people are honest to themselves when they say they are fulfilled when they are in “open relationship”. I think it’s- or you lie to yourself or it’s just not a “romantic relationship” ~ 🙏 Just many good friends with benefits maybe. I believe we have many many soulmates with who we can be compatible, but I don’t believe that we are supposed to try them all at the same time. Not romantically. How can you get the real benefits that working on a relationship brings you as a human if you are going with many people at the same time. Today society is more open minded and more understandable to open sex, and it’s good bc it helps to stop hate towards others personal choices , but on the other part, where it concerns one’s personal psychological health, it’s like eating fast food everyday- you can do it, it feels good, you hurt no one, you don’t die from it and you are content about that, but you definitely miss something that great food can bring to develop your body and brain in long term.
It's better than cheating. I would rather someone tell me they are interested in being with others while with me( before we enter a relationship) and be able to tell them that I don't like that and prefer one person. People hide that stuff all the time and then hurt others because they cheated. If you want to be with multiple people or screw around then be straight forward about it and find a partner who is interested in the same thing ( there are plenty). I don't judge people's interest, but it's different when you hurt others because you weren't honest.
This is so interesting! I received some sex education (how sex and pregnancy work) but never anything about STDs how to have safe sex, etc. yet (I am sixteen and living in the US). I picked up knowledge from friends and the internet about condoms and stds and other related topics. It's so interesting as well as confusing for me to listen to other people's experiences because I've never felt sexual attraction to another person. I consider myself asexual and I don't experience sexual attraction and the idea of other people being involved in my personal sex life turns me off. It's so different for other people I guess
😂you are just 16. There is nothing abnormal about you. I grew up in a more conservative country/culture and was a virgin until 19. Which is considered to be the most common for my country. Minors are not supposed to be having sex. You dont have the mental capacity to ubderstand the consequences of sex. Its a very unhealthy mindset in my opinion that in the US people let their kids do whatever they want and the culture encourages teens to have sex earlier. You have to be an adult to do the adult thing, which has a consequence such as creating a child, or, having STDs that could potentially affect your fertility and future sex life. These are not light weight stuff that minors should be worrying about. Even I as 19, learnt it hard way and it messed up my life many times. Its not fun! Worrying about pregnany or stds is not fun. Dont label yourself as asexual. Just focus on being healthy mentally and physically, and you might change drastically by the time you are an adult and ready to have sex. Dont use the pill as it will definately make you think you are asexual even though you are not. When I was your age, because the culture i was in, i didn’t fancy about having sex, i dated some guys kissing and stuff but i never really think about going further than that, i just knew i was too young to worry about this and didnt really have the desire to do it neither. Also, if you dont know what sex feels like, how can you crave it, doesnt even make sense. Anyways i hope you dont label yourself as asexual at the age of 16, because you are too young for this
OK, so I am french, but in this matter, I am korean (actually, I think many french people would say like I! I think there are different cultures in one country, by the way).
I’m west African (specifically Cameroonian) n I never got the talk from my parents, never was it brought up or even hinted, learned all about it from friends at school n my own traumatizing research. Before I moved to the U.S, in primary school during our last day in class 6 (grade five here) they had someone come in to talk about it n ask us question, since we were going to middle school, n all of us felt so awkward talking n answering question, the lady left n the teacher scolded all of us n said we not getting our report cards n he’s holding us back( he was joking) that was the only time it was mention in my school life there until I moved around 7th grade. I also know classes like this is common or require for those in the francophone section(I was in the anglophone section so) Francophones always had more option for classes n even languages while as to us the only other language we could learn was French.

This was a good group! And props to Joy for stepping up the convo on polyamory and being Bi. I also really love Hoseung. He did such a good job. He held the space and wasn't judgmental. Good call on holding back the answers if your parents are watching.
I love the american guy he is so open and talked about open relations
What a great video! Joy is a lot of fun. I think we'd be friends. Everyone on the panel is lovely! I really appreciate when people actively want to hear opinions and ways of living life other than their own.
okay guys....lets take a min to appreciate HOESEUNG handsomeness in this video............btw all are absolutely gorgeous
One of my favorite videos! Love this channel. Great job, Hoseung!
As a Sri Lankan guy I agree with you too. We gotta open up and have sex education in our schools. I think it's best to keep it balanced
Do they really? I'm a diaspora Sri Lankan and it seems like Sri Lankan culture is conservative and people even living here lose their virginity in their 20s or at least as an adult
Hoseung, what a great guy, asians are so polite and nice people.
( I was around 40 at that time
The grandma scaring the kids bit had me rolling on the floor, kkkkkk, thank you for sharing.
Greetings from São Paulo, neighbour.
@@vitorsf992 and it is completely true... Not even a comma was exagerated 😁
joy really does bring joy!!
In France ppl don't have a lot physical contacts with stranger actly, maybe "la bise" to greet each other but they won't hug each other or this kind of thing.
They do have a high rate of cheating though.

Melodie has such a beautiful voice
Hoseung speaking English was surprising for some reason. He's reactions are adorable 🤣

French girl is so classy and polite 😍
0:31 What a coincidence Joy! It's also my favourite subject 🤷🏻♀️🔥🤣
Okay, but this was so funny. I love how open and comfortable they were
Educate!
Hahahahaha i love this video. Amo quando o Brasil é representado nos episódios
Korea is conservative though and that's one of the thing why I fell in love with the culture and people to begin with. They stood out as a country
Being an Indian, I relate to them a lot..I think almost all Asian countries
@@dejavu6514 I agree with you on that I've observed that asian culture is more reserved and not has "fast" like errrbody else and that's why I respect y'all alot.
Yeah they don't go fast .
I'm a Sri Lankan and most people here are Buddhists. Some people are conservative. We mostly don't talk much about it. People here take things politely and slow, like in a innocent way. Some people wait until marriage to lose their virginity.
@@dulinadevnitha9927 That's better than losing it at 14 -15 yo .
Hoseung is so cute and funny. Love seeing him on cam!
As an Indian, I'd be crossing off on all the statements.
Of course I can only speak from my own experience, but as a Swiss I feel like we are more open about sexual topics than Korea, but less open than the other 3 countries in this video.
Amo quando tem brs 💜🇧🇷
I see Brazil
I click
Morals and sex are two different things. Someone can have sex to 50 people in a year and still have a high moral standart.
Aninha saudades linda, amo ver vc aleatoriamente nas coisas, muito orgulho
They all look so good
Two words: hoseung’s English, wow!

Hoseung is such a beautiful man 💕💕☺️
I'm American, but my mother is originally from S Korea, so I relate more to the Korean's experience.
Ikrrrr
@@Aggoenix Also the reproduction cult thingy is for married people cos some mothers even bring a second more "fertile" wife for their son
@@Aggoenix I'm from Algeria too and it's the same an Nigeria here
I'm from America and relate FAR MORE with SK representation in this video than the American (Joy) who was an extreme example of openness compared to the average American. No right or wrong - just matter of fact.
Yeah the average American doesn't do open relationships
The French lady ❤️❤️🥰😭
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that Western sex culture is overly open and superficial, many people treat sex as a handshake, too much influence of basic animal instincts, and things like fidelity, devotion, love are perceived by many as anachronism, conservatism and backwardness .
I think that people are still not animals and should strive to be something more.
Agreed. Sex has become very primitive again and is more seen as a recreational activity driven by instincts while the spiritual value of it is completely undervalued. Most likely a negative side effect of the loss of religion in western societies.
@@DevlVergil what's wrong with that?

It was a cool video. It's interresting to see various opinion and culture. The MORE important thing is was make in respect of each other.
Is that a bad thing??
🤨
@@alexisn97 I don't think that is a bad thing. I guess there's good and bad side on every culture, including mine 🤷🏻♀️
@@alexisn97 About sex, in Korea, i think talk more about it would be a good thing, I mean just don't make it a taboo, to learn to young people about it, and that is normal etc... But in France, in the contrary, I think we should show/talk less about sex... It's everywhere... 🤦🏻♀️

@@zourou319 true 😂😂😂
I’m not sure what I think is better because I do believe that it is good to have an open discussion about sex just so that you are aware of how it works and about potential risks and to be ready when you are ready, but I don’t want relationships to be so focused around sex. And we also shouldn’t loose virginity at such young ages because we don’t have to grow up so fast
Really a good topic to talk about
Someone that follows Ana can remember her User?? I’d like to follow her so muchhhhh!! Gosh, she’s amazing
@@BriellaSornFonte How do Western relationships go against basic evolution though
Not allowing people to do what they want is what is not healthy
@@BriellaSornFonte I think people should always have freedom, no matter where are they from or what do they believe. When society forces you something you don't agree with, then that's a problem. We humans are naturally free beings and sadly we invented many things to loose this natural freedom.
I disagree. I hope Korea changes for the better. It's dangerous to not have sex ed and open conversations about reproductive health. That's how you get STD outbreaks and teenage pregnancies. It's not a good thing to stay as is.
Good subject! Thank you!

Kudos for all guys and gals.
Inside of theirs cultures they were open and sincere about limitations and contexts of theirs owns natives sex culture and education.

Like yeahh! I was like "isnt that cheating?" it is really weird and not okay to me
Each to their own, dude.

Anyways i hope you dont label yourself as asexual at the age of 16, because you are too young for this
I just realized I'm more conservative and similiar to Korean people than I thought.
Hoseung encantado pela Ana hehe 😅
I'm really curious to know more about dating in Korea! I watched my share of k-dramas and I wanna know what makes sense and what doesn't!
