  • This is the final video I've put together for the build of my 3T-GTE. I've included many mods and soon will complete a final tune on the dyno to see how much power it puts out, stay tuned....

    Every video is so well explained.
    And of all the things manuals may not tell you, all the little important things, you always cover.
    If we listen good I mean.
    Thanks for the tips applicable to any engine build mate spot on.

      Thanks for the support mate. Apologies the amount of videos has dropped right off. Won't be long and I'll be documenting the build of my dream garage and the projects will become my main focus. Right now, I'm doing a lot of planning, waiting on approvals and also working a real job. Hope you hang around as this channel is about to really get going once we get to the new year

    Holy cow, the 3T-GTE is twin spark engine? That would do really well on bioethanol fuel with monster compression ratio (12:1). Thanks for showing the head in such way that it was instantly visible.

      Never knew these came twin spark or turbo plus timing chain we only got the stock 3T engine

    I’ve really enjoyed watching this build, easily the best 2TG/3TG one on RUclips. I’m searching for a 3TGTE but not easy to find. Have you built any 2TGs?

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  4 года назад

      Hi Mate, yes used to have a 2TG and have built a couple of them. The main reason I went for the 3TG was to keep the look and style of the 2TG. Hard to find now, the last 2TG was immaculate. I sold it about 15 years ago.

  • @Mezzmoengineering
    @Mezzmoengineering  7 лет назад

    Sure, there are 10 bolts. You progressively tighten starting from the two middle bolts working diagonally outwards.If you number the bolts on the inlet side from 1 to 5 starting from the front and 6 to 10 from the front for the exhaust side the order will be 3, 8, 2, 9, 7, 4, 6, ,5,1 ,10. Final torque needs to be between 53-63ft/lb

    I know the video is quite old but at the 1.2 minute mark you install the oil pump drive shaft. Is that a 3tgeu part? Im building a 3tg hybrid with fuel injection and dont really want a distributor with a cap sitting there.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад

      Hi, yes its a genuine 3TGTE part. On a 2TG its where the dizzy goes but in a 3TG its used to drive the oil pump. The 3TG oil pump drive can also be used in a 2TG or 3T if you make your own crank sensor to replace the dizzy

    • @MrTakidd
      @MrTakidd 6 лет назад

      Exactly. Using a crank sensor but still need to pump oil

      Hi, incredibly I haven't put it on the dyno yet. I need to get it out and fine tuned sometime soon. My guess is it will have between 180 and 200rwkw. What help do you need?

    • @dougcooke1458

      I bought my motor apparently "fully rebuilt". Since i got the car ive spent way to much money. Custom intake,coil packs,custom cas,550 injectors, external fuel pump and surge tank,intercooler,oil cooler. I think neraly everything you can bolt onto a motor. Decent size turbo gtx gen2 2867 i think with the biggest housing set up they come in. My problem is most modern cars ive researched sre making 390hp atw with this turbo. Ive made 210kw atw with mine so its missing about 100 hp some where. Everyone keeps telling me the motor has been build with to low comp. Its tuned with 22psi of boost and has had 25 psi put through it but still only made 220kw atw. Had more timing more boost, motor stays solid and no signs of getting close to detonating just stops making more power. It has a copper head gasket ive measure around the out side at 2.2mm. My theory is the old 8 valve head cant flow enough air volume for a low comp high boost set up. Ive heard the copper gaskets are reussable so it might be as simple as getting the head shaved 1mm or getting a 1mm gasket? While the head is off get it ported. Not many people have even heard of the 3tgte so it would be nice to take it to someone that has worked on one. Sorry its a big story

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад +1

      I ported my head and whilst it hasn't been on a dyno yet i built it to have potential for high power. The intake is a weak link without porting. I also have an M3, remember that modern cars also have all the gear to go along with the power, unlike these old girls. I'm not chasing mega power because its not like you're going to be able to use it all in an older car unless you spend a lot of time getting the suspension, brakes etc etc as well as some traction control etc. The fact you have high boost could also indicate that air isn't flowing through the engine as boost is essentially back pressure. Again, porting can make a big difference. I also polished my exhaust intakes after porting. Compression on a 3TGTE is usually 7.8-1, generally turbo engines need lower compression due to the boost. Do some research on the 4TGT which is the race version of this engine, from memory some of these had over 500hp....

    • @dougcooke1458
      @dougcooke1458 6 лет назад

      Classic Celicas and more yeah i think porting might bring power up a fair bit. Your right about the handling. Ive got disc brakes front and rear, coil over suspension, upgraded lsd and semi slicks and it still doesnt like traction in 1st and 2nd. Mid 12s is still alright for a 40 year old car. Will just have to get the head off to sort out the power. Thanks
