Just curious, why do japanese engineers insist on running the crappy thrust washer set up they use instead of a 1 piece thrust and main bearing like used in most American V-8's? Even most Japanese Diesels use these poorly designed washers.

The earliest version of this engine did have a one piece thrust and main, I think about 74 it changed

racing these engines for years never had a problem with that crappy thrust bearing it does its job I'd rather have one piece also but it is what it is
