From Rust Heap to Concourse Level: Insane ’72 Corolla Restoration project

- Опубликовано: 15 авг 2020
- It takes serious dedication to take a car from being essentially totaled, to show car spec… especially when you take zero shortcuts. Corolla master Mike Muniz from Team Wildcards rescued this super rare early ’72 Toyota Corolla from certain doom, and added a good amount of his own flair along the way.

Pontiac Aztec's for sure.
they gonna restore ford crownvictoria like new oem police pakage
Classic Corollas, Celicas and Coronas are so popular here in the Philippines, I’m very proud that those taillights came from my country. A big fan of your work sir Larry! Stay safe everyone! “Restored” is an understatement for that holy grail Corolla. Truly amazing!
The car, the stories and Mike's knowledge/experience are beyond priceless
Damn.. what a story ! The before pics and restored to brand new small detail factory condition is just beyond epic.. what an impressive car saving
wow!
He should be a judge at the high level concours d'elegance. He'd research the shit right out of the class he would be judging. He'd kick the hooray Henry's, chinless wonders to the kerb on the knowledge. He's the G. O. A. T.
But how does Larry's vids not have millions of views tho?...the content is epic!!!...
i shed one single tear, and the splash it made echoe'd through time......because of how beautiful the tires are
*TWO ABSOLUTE OG's RIGHT HERE*
*RESPECT WILL BE FOREVER*
*their work will live FOREVER*
Not about cost. PASSION ❤. These are videos and stories I love. Original. Not crazily modded.

He so aligns to Japanese ethos in that anything you do, you must strive for perfection. This build is so important and relevant right now. Superb!

Legend has it, Mike actually violated the Prime Directive and went back in time to get this car..
U watch too much dr. Who
This is like art one human life can not make a dozen of these types of restoration. There is one Mona Lisa and one of this Corolla so intense when you think of it.
This is just amazing. I teared up watching this. My Dad only drives Corollas (since they came out). My grandpa had a Toyota Dealership in the 70's till early 80's. And i learned to drive in a 1978 KE30 (when i was 8 yrs old).
If I'm lucky enough to ever restore a car it'll be a 70's Corolla. I love that people like this exist.
In 98, I used to have a 72 Corolla with a 1600 2TC engine mated to a later model 4speed manual.. to this day it was the most fun car I ever had.
OMG!!! Beautiful. I love 72's. Wow!
Great story. This is why the internet was created. For this car and this story.
I think I love this guy now
Mike, your story on that Corolla Sprinter just BLEW MY MIND!!!
Guys like him give me energy. Just watching someone master their craft and put this level of effort into anything is so inspiring.
This is an amazing vehicle, it should be in a museum.
Think about how many hours it took to put this beautiful lady together, but imagine the hours spent online doing research and emails. How amazing!!
I actually teared up, this Car is so beautiful
Absolutely cannot stress enough how excited I am to see that 2000GT done right. That's incredible. Given the absurd quality of his work... I'm sure it will be a phenomenal restoration.
2000GT?!? “I NEED THAT VIDEO! GET ON THAT LARRY!!!”
This is a real car builder right here.. big Mike Muniz is a legend. He builds himself.. not like others in the JDM space
There are car guys and then there are car GODS!!! Great work on the restoration 👌🏽
I am Happy for you when you get a chance to drive this Jewel.
i hope toyota immortalizes him he deserves so much praise
That car is absolutely beautiful.

Just watched the three videos with Mike and you know, what a kind human being. May you get the best of what you look for, Mike.
The level of detail and the Concours wins just shows the owner's commitment.
Mike Muniz... Legend.
I have no words for this, just please keep content like this coming!!!
This staggers my mind. What a restoration
This video is three years old, but still blows my mind. And I am really touched Larry when you said "I do hope my photos live on when I'm gone". This car and video is worth watching through time. Salute to you and Mike for sharing this amazing story. Sending ❤from the Philippines.
He puts Wats on just to roll it out. That’s class!
Awesome coverage Larry and Louis! So much attention to detail on this beautiful car! Congrats Big Mike! Thanks for sharing your story!

AWESOME!! Needed some before pictures. Just to the transformation. Incredible!!
Thank you Larry. Felt like i was in space the whole time watching this now I'm back on earth.
Proud Filipino! Sir Mike in da haus again!
Doing a 73 Toyota Celica so really enjoyed this. Outstanding restoration.
What a wonderfully genuine car-guy conversation. I have the highest respect for Mike's passion, and humility standing next to such a masterpiece. Just Crazy.
next level to the 10th power restoration. I'm in awe.
This is incredible. I can't believe what this man did. I hope nothing bad will ever happen to this car. It's a piece of history. My deepest respect to the builder of this incredible car. If one day it goes to the Museum I hope the know what the got there, and take good care of it.
One word. Wow!
Thanks for doing these separate. More content and they each get time they deserve
Beyond dedicated. It's good to know that it will go to Toyota back in Japan where it will be preserved.
jesus, even the wheels got wheels. this thing belongs in a museum.
My first car was a 1970 Toyota Corolla - but I grew up in Southern California.
Makes me wish I grew up in Japan.
I love this story. Awesome work! This guy is truly a passionate gear head. So happy for you!
Probably the craziest build you've ever shot.
Wwwaaaooo....that’s the very first same color same car that started my love with cars since a kid....not to mention it was the first time I washed a car...my Dad’s....thanks for the memories....God bless....
So much passion and dedication here. Absolutely fantastic!
I had (sadly gone now) a 1980 KE55 coup. Pilar-less windows in a two door was so good. Was my first car, given to me for Christmas when I was 14, but it was a rusted out shell from a junk yard. 3 years and two donor cars to restore it with my fathers guidance and getting registration on it for the first time in 10years and driving it was the best feeling ever.
This dude is THE MASTER!!! WOW. Thank you Larry so much for this. Truly inspiring. I cant stop thinking "wow!"
Amazing build. This guy literally created a museum piece.
First time I spent an entire 39:50 minutes watching the video without skipping through it, and that say's a lot about how amazing this restoration in even though I'm not in to retro cars. Kudos to Mike Muniz !
I love the passion and effort. Good on you.
Such a fantastic person. Surprised the book is not sealed
What an incredible car. Just awesome.
Very rarely is there ever a restoration like this, even by museums. Friggin mind blowing. This is like when Canepa does restos of their Porsches.
All I can say is Perfect and Beautiful!!! 😍😍
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING CAR !!! AMAZING attention to detail !!!
Best car guy ever!!!
Love everything you do with this channel.
Keep the amazing content coming
Purely amazing never seen or heard of something rebuilt like this.
My very first car out of high school was a 1972 Corolla. Green with tan interior. Too bad my priorities weren't what they should have been in the 70's and it got repossessed. Brings back fond memories. Can't believe your attention to detail!
one of the best features yet
This car is a celebrity by its own right, and thank you for sharing this incredible story of a very talented and humble man.
no words... from england!
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE 2000GT!!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤
What cool dude and an even cooler car
I love all the small details this guy knew and was able to teach us about
I would NEVER put this much time and effort into any car, but that just makes this one even more incredible and special. Absolutely perfect Corolla
115ps for a 1.6L in 1970s is actually pretty impressive.
Big respect from Ireland.. We love our corolla s here and that is the holy grail corolla. I have a ke 20 myself not as clean as yours but in great condition for a 45 year old Toyota. Keep up the awesome work..
Wow just wow a resto job nobody could even dream of love seeing these old jdm cars being preserved
Amazing car! Glad to see he took a “throw away” and made it the ultimate!
Omg this thing is absolutely gorgeous and awesome
Out of this world build that is the most beautiful Corolla I've ever seen for the whole world to see and enjoy.
What a walk through history!
keep this type of content and build quality going no so much all the crappy widebody cars mutant build .. this stuff is true automotive passion
What a Great Video!! :) More like this please. Love the old school Japanese Coupes.
Imagine having a Toyota so one-of-a-kind that even the Toyota Museum asks to borrow it.
That car is amazing,,,also the engine way back 1985 I've seen a lot of Filipinos teenagers loved to race used that engine....keep it up,,,i like your channel and i loved cars and army jeep. 😁👍👏👏 STAY SAFE LARRY CHEN
yo this brings me back to like 2013-2016 when i was into jdm cars and young in middle school
“The nerd level” haha... you kill me larry🤭😁such an iconic and beutiful example. These people adore japanese pedestrian car’s like collectors of exotic lambo’s and ferraris. Kampai!
incredible level of detail , What a guy 👌🏆
I cant wait to see MIKE MUNIZ take on the venerable and iconically stunning TOYOTA 2000GT!!...THANKS IN ADVANCE MIKE!!
I think this might be my favorite episode of AutoFocus to date, even over the other two features from this garage!
This is good. Imagine building a car so good the manufacturer wants it..
He's like Dennis Colin's is to Austin-Healey for toyotas.
