- Randy Jaffe is obviously a man of fine taste, and one with a serious affinity for vintage Nissans and Datsuns. To a point where his collection more or less encapsulates the entire history of Datsun race machinery. His collection has Larry so geeked out, that we straight up filmed a one hour and twenty minute special of his wild collection.

I don't care who you are, that is a damn fine collection of automotive history.
Just ugly replicas

Randy’s a great guy and a good friend. His collection is truly amazing. I feel honored to have one of my old car in his collection.
I’m a simple guy, I see Datsun, I click immediately.
Good guy. Good guy. ☝🏻☝🏻
Especially an autofocus ep, more serious car talk with Larry than all the goofy ones gotta love em tho
i guess that makes me a simple guy too 🤷🏻♂️🤝
I'm a simple man. I see a 1 hour 20 minute Hoonigan AutoFocus video, I make a nice vanilla latte, take the family for an evening walk, put the kids to bed, tidy the kitchen and TV room, make a bowl of popcorn, crack a cold nitro stout, put my feet up, and press play.
Sounds like your wife must be the one turning wrenches over there ffs haha
Did he change the channel name cause I only got it following Larry
My jaw would slide all over the floor if I ever got to see this collection
Trust me, it's a great place to hang out.
Damn that's pretty suggestive!
A 1:20 hour episode and I loved every minute of it. Thank you everyone who brought this episode to life.
I love hearing a person talk who has a passion for a specific manufacture of car, this guy has such an insane level of knowledge for Datsun/Nissans its insane and seriously what an amazing collection!
I remember seeing those GTP cars at Sears Point. I was just a kid in high school and I was watching the cars come out of the Esses, going into the hairpin. I literally said "you can see the downforce". The tunnels under the car were amazing to see in action. The RealTime Acuras were there as well in a support race. What a day!
Don’t let your wife catch you watching this, clear your browse history!
"Helen Keller could hear this car" lmaoooooo
He's not exaggerating. I've been in his shop when he fired it up.
GREETINGS FROM COLORADO, LARRY! Thank you so much for this series. I grew up in CT in the 60's and 70's and you and Randy have provided memories that, because I inhaled in the 60's and 70's...were LONG gone. I've had to trim my Hoonigan watching time down to essentially just you. Since the old garage, Ken Block, Scotto, you and the guys (and a few gals) came into being there's just so much stuff that NObody can keep up with all that they woulda, coulda, shoulda wanna watch. Your sense of history, your cars, your shoots are always as good as 'it' gets. All that I want and can handle. So. Thank you so much to you and your crew...AND everyone at everything Hoongan.
Cool you’re from CT! Did you ever get a chance to see Datsun’s running at Lime Rock?
Did you see them on the road often in CT? 240z’s etc.
@@karand9010 , You betcha-driven by PRN racing, and PN hisself. The good ol' days when nary a chip or 'puter was in sight.
I was one of the first guys to sign up for one of the Vintage Z's back before they actually started selling them. The Houston Chronicle actually interviewed me for an article, asking questions like "What attracts you to the Z and why do you want to buy one of these>" I found out a few weeks later that they wanted $25k for the car. Being a young guy with very little money to spare I had to back out of the deal. Man do I wish I would have figured out how to pull it off. But, I wouldn't have been able to do the car justice. It would have sat outside and rusted in an apartment parking lot. I finally got my '72 240z in 2008 and have been restomodding it ever since. It will probably go to my son when I'm gone.
Omg, I died hysterically laughing when you gave him credit and opened pandora's box on memorabilia, jfc, dude was a flood gate 😅 kudos on respectfully controlling the flood, bro
You know its Legit when he rattles off over 50 different names by heart
I seriously thought this was Adams collection. Happy to see someone else out there is as devoted to this era as he is.
Adam Carolla?
my man is a total 911 and datsun guy. totaly my favourite 2 cars... mad respect\
Only an 1 hour and 20 mins? Too short! :D Great content!
Thank you, you guys! It's great to finally "meet" Randy. I've seen so many of his cars at ZCG. I get emotional every time I hear my friends Rob and Josh mentioned in all the different nissan/datsun videos and write ups. Proud to be a part of the Z Car Garage family!!!!!
That model car is so freaking cool, the builder is on another level especially for the time period it was done in.
this dude sounds like the best guy, especially with returning the plaque to his friend
Great interview bro! Randy is as good a story teller as he is a collector. Very down to Earth fellow and super nice to meet in person also.
Yeah most car guys are good people.
I love this.. your intros are always amazing. Keep it up!!
I love how Larry meets new car people and those car people just give larry more car people to go meet. Obviously it’s networking but it just sends larry on this wonderful content goose chase.
I cherish these videos.
Larry really allows people to express themselves about there cars. These stories are priceless.
Very well done!
i loved every second of this. it speaks so much to who i am and not just what but why i love the things i love, and all that came before me paved the way for me to love cars like this at all. Incredible. Im so glad that Randy not only has all these cars but the stories and artifacts with them. Gosh. And Thanks for documenting all of this. This was truly wonderful and spoke to my soul in many ways hard to encapsulate. Thank you.
Not bored at all, watched it all and I loved every minute of it. Thanks for sharing!
I could’ve spent a day watching this interview. Seriously fascinating. Appreciate you Larry bringing this collection to light.
Z31's seem to be gaining more popularity as of late! For what used to be the most unpopular Z chassis, it's great to see them getting some much deserved love!
indeed
What an amazing collection. Randy is a great curator of Datsun/Nissan. I had a 510 in the late 70's. Love my Infiniti G coupe today. Well shown. Thanks
At the end Larry must have done 4 hours overall on this amazing collection. And we love every minute of it... 😎👍
Btw: I can really appreciate when Americans correctly pronounce German words... 🇩🇪
Wow great collection & great stories behind each cars - Great video ❤
Its just amazing and I enjoyed watching this in all its fullness. Nissan\Datsun collectors dream.
I just found this video today. I have been a Datsun fan since the early 70's, and am thrilled someone is taking good care of these iconic masterpieces. I did have to pause when they began talking about the 620 Kingcab. There is a lot of misinformation concerning year models. I have even had several so-called Datsun experts who have tried to convince me the Kingcab started in 1977, along with the 5 speed transmission. As a 19 year old, in June of 1976, I purchased the first Kingcab sold in Chattanooga, Tn from Standefer Datsun. It was Eggshell white, with a 4 speed, and was titled as a 1976 truck. I was told by Buzz Standefer there would be no 5 speed trucks until the 1977 model year, which was due in November or December of 1976. He told me all 1976 Kingcab trucks were either 4 speed or automatic. I currently own a truck ( a 4 speed), that was manufactured in June of 1976, and has been titled as a 1976 truck since new. There are probably only a handful of true 76 Kingcabs left, and I think it is important that there is distinction. The only way I have been able to find that differentiates these trucks is the center console, and 5 speed tranny. My current truck has the correct 76 console, and that is the first thing I look at if someone claims to have a 76 truck. Maybe I am nitpicking, but as these vehicles go up in value, it is important, and there aren't many people left with first hand experience with them. Over the years I have owned 8 620 trucks, 4 of them have been Kingcabs, and have logged nearly 1 million miles in 620 trucks. I can honestly say that owning and driving a 620 is the most fun I have ever had in something with 4 wheels and a steering wheel. That includes cutting my teeth on go-karts, farm equipment, a Z-car, and trucks and cars of all shapes and sizes. There is nothing like getting into a stoplight match with a Super duty, a Duramax, or some other unsuspecting victim, starting off in second gear sort of easy and holding second gear to 60 mph (about 6700 rpm), and watching the other driver beating on their steering wheel. But the most fun is on a twisty road. Yeah, I know a 510 or Z will eat my truck alive, but very few people expect a little truck to handle like a kart. The coolest thing thing is that you can run through the gears, like you are in a race, and the cops don't even pay attention. Fun stuff!
Hands down your best episode larry. It was spinning me out when he was talking about peter brock. It took me a while to realise that american peter brock is a different person from australian peter brock!
The most least boring vid I’ve seen in ages !! Larry u ask good questions and engage with ace people.. keep up the good work 😃😀😁
Only 2 minutes in to the video and already pressed the like button. Love the old Nissan/Datsuns. Had a 2001 model Nissan1400 Champ in SA (extended life 70s era Sunny 1200 pick up). Most fun I ever had in any car, especially in the wet.
Love Seeing These Old Cars Really Is Amazing How Beautiful They Are
I’m glad there is people like this Guy in our world💯 man this is awesome
I am two years late to this but holy crap what a guy and what a collection :O
Nice! Michael Eberhart is a friend as well, love that this is a small world still
This may not mean much to authentic car enthusiasts...
I created the original #46 Z livery in Forza Horizon years back. I spent over 30 hours creating custom logos and assuring accuracy. To this day, it still stands as the most detailed #46 Z John Morton livery within the Forza Horizon series.
I appreciate this video on a level that I rarely experience. Saved. Shared. Subscribed.
I could watch this for 4-5 hours easily awesome video and cars 🤘🏻
Slamming S30 life to the floor boards. Larry who knew you would be the DATSUN " GLUE" that brings all the Datsun Collections ,together!
What an Important, role, you have stumbled on. For a Z GUY to globe trot , for Z cars and Z collections. I'm glad it's you ,Larry. You have put the time in when JDM Culture was starting to get recognized, but your just as much, a part , of making it what it is today.
Thank You Larry Chen !
Larry awesome video! Beautiful Datsun collection. Randy nicely done man.
Great video! Just put my 280 rear end back together and learned a few things.

Thank you for sharing, astonishing collection
You have a very nice Z collection there, I actually worked for Pierre Z when they were doing the restoration program for Nissan, so there's a probability that I worked on that yellow/grees original that you showed. I hope that you keep that collection alive and road worthy for a long time . 👍
What a fun and cool collection to have. Great tour 🤘🏼👊🏻
Just SO AWESOME 😎
I could listen to randy's stories all day.
This collection deserves a part 2 down the road....
Love these long shop tours

Damn. Wat a collection!!!!
Legend amongst legends.....
The 1990 GTP chassis were built at Jim Chapman Developments in San Clemente Ca. Jim's shop also built the 962 chassis that Jim Busby Racing used to Win the 24 Hours of Daytona.
I sold a fresh Nissan GTP motor to someone in Georgia 20 years ago, wonder if could be the same group.
This was awesome
Life goals. Wow
I laughed my ass off about how loud his Mustang is for a solid 5min straight and definitely stealing that, wayyyyy too funny
This is literally my DREAM garage!!! my three fave cars.....Mustang, Z and 911 lol
I watched the whole 1:20:49 this video has and these long videos are the best in my opinion, so much nerdy history
Que gusto saber que el mundo datsun es grande y famoso.
Felicitaciones.
Beautiful collection
First vehicle was a 1976 Bullet side Datsun pickup. I wanted it so bad I didn’t even know how to drive a stick I learned in about 3 minutes so I could drive it home. I’ve been a Datsun fan since then
Awesome collection & awesome guy as well
Wow this so cool love the datsun
This is awesome, but for us non-ADD slightly older guys, this is the stuff!
Bruh..... I've only seen one 350z Nismo in person it was black and sounded unreal!! That Nagaro Red 350z Nismo is my DREAM Nissan 👍👍👍 What an amazing guy and epic collection!! One of a kind both of them 👍

Yes, seeing the collection was awesome. Hearing all the details, facts and stories took it to another dimension. Very interesting from minute one to the last second. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge.

Incredible cars Larry Chen!
Awesome!!!
Amazing and very informative info for Datsun and Nissan seekers 🙂
Larry Chen with more Nissan’s or Datsuns..come on bro change it up already.we get it you love them
I had a 1975 280z that I rebuilt which I called it the bondo buggy because when I got it the only thing that didn't have bondo was the hood.It was so much fun to drive but I am 6'4" and was almost impossible to have sex in but we gave it our best try.One great thing about that car is you could give it an alignment with a tapemeasure as long as the struts were perfect. The engine was a pleasure to rebuild and the first time I fired it up after the rebuild it was music to my ears
The Z car story is amazing....so much history.
Just wow
Insane collection.
Love his passion on car, very nice car collection…!
i visited the datsun/nissan warehouse in japan and it was glorious. people were actually crying because of the history
Everyone swears I have a Sr or rotary swap ,they can't believe the original l18 sounds so good. On load at highway speeds through the 4 speed man she pops and bangs.
I liked the color of that Vintage Z before hearing the stories and rarity, and more I heard and more I looked at it I love it even more lol. Semi-modern paint in retro/vintage style then with the refurb... The rally and race cars are of course awesome but man, thats a good looking Z.
I Love this video !!
holy shit amazing cars and a super cool owner, perfect combination WOW what a collection and to me the memorabilia is the best part
