What an amazing vegetarian sandwich! I feel that Indian cuisine really nails it when it comes to vegetarian food. ALL THE SPICES! Certainly seems like an incredibly delicious sandwich! Well done Barry!
For a lazy man's version, you can buy the green chutney premade in a good Indian store, at least you can around here. I went looking for it recently and they had like 20 different varieties just of the typical green coriander/mint chutney.
Gujarati-American indian here. Amol cheese is similar to American cheese. They are interchangeable for sandwiches. Also, Gujarati is pronounced "Goo-draht-tee" You should also check out the veggie madras club sandwich. My mom would make this and the Ghughra sandwich for taos trips.
I have noticed that the international sandwiches seem rarely to get plussed up. They also seem to be more complex than most of the earlier sandwiches. I wonder if maybe it's because they have already been plussed up over the years, and have basically reached peak flavor by now. You know? I dunno. I like my theory, though. :)
Any time you make a sandwich from south or Southeast Asia, I have to eat some Tums before I can even watch the video. The explosion of flavors comes through the screen. Thank you for doing all the work for us.
I don't. But I do have a spreadsheet were I am tracking name of sandwich, book used, date, pre-plus up score, plus up(s), post plus up score, did I finish it, and would I make it again.
The veg mix is a wonderful idea for some extra texture and flavor. I like to dip grilled cheeses in homemade tomatillo salsa, will definitely have to try it +'ed up with the veggies!
I think I would be able to stand the cilantro here because to me it tastes minty, not soapy, and here there’s also mint in the chutney. In so many dishes, cilantro tastes wrong to me. It’s like mint! I wouldn’t put peppermint in salsa either!
Looked good until the bell pepper showed up 🤢. Oh well. Might try a "recipe remix" of this at some point when we're camping as we have several of that style of toasting contraptions. They're called "mountain pie" makers around here.

That looks fantastic, great work. I'd love to try it with some New Mexico Hatch green chile
Weird crossover..ya'll are both my fave creators, lol.
That would be tasty for sure.
There is no way that was not going to be delicious. I could taste the flavours just watching.
Tostite is one of the greatest kitchen treat makers! My 1950s childhood was devoted to Tostite grilled cheese, pizzas and apple pies.
Where was I that I’ve never heard of the magic Tost-tite? I too grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. 🧐
There is NO WAY that this could not be good!
First sandwich I’ve seen where he doesn’t plus it up! 😮

I was not expecting the Toast-Tite! My entire childhood was my grandmothers Toast-Tite grilled cheese!
I was shocked at the "no plus up" lmao. This sandwich looked amazing.
no plussing up. that is perfect.
When I was a kid we used a square version of that "pie iron" when we were camping - it made great grilled ham & cheese, and cherry "pies" 😋
Oh yum! Love this one.

Much respect for all the work!
Just more proof India has some of the worlds best street food. Sounds like you'll be using you new toy more often.

Yeah, I think of them how I think of the Reuben. It has stood the test of time and is iconic for a reason. So tasty!
If I had a gas stove, I would get a Tostite. It looks like a great gadget. This Sammy looks yummy!
You could get a Dash Pocket Sandwich press. They are pretty inexpensive. Plug in.
I wonder how it would be done on the barbeque, giving it a smoky undertone.
Reminds me of LGR Foods videos :) That sandwich looks nice - love a cheese toastie
Thank you
That was commitment to prep all that for a sandwich but it looked good Barry!
Did the sandwich come out tough? I'm surprised you didn't show the reveal
Pudgy pie maker in all its glory. Looks great! Thanks for another rad vid!!
I've always heard that Asafoetida pronounced as "Ass-oh-FED-it-a" but I grew up in Arkansas. The sammich sounds interesting.
That is the correct pronunciation in both American and British English, but all the Indian food channels I follow say it as per this video.
That Tostite device is sometimes referred to as a "hobo pie maker"
Badass dude
It may have looked janky when you put it in the toastite thing, but the end result looked divine!
What are the drive-through hours? I'll have a six pack
Yum!!
Wow that looks Amazing! o_0

The cut edges make it seem more Indian to me, like the shape of an onion bhaji or a jalebi
“Definitely making it again.”
Do you sneak sarnies off camera, or have them for another meal or something? :D
I don't. But I do have a spreadsheet were I am tracking name of sandwich, book used, date, pre-plus up score, plus up(s), post plus up score, did I finish it, and would I make it again.
Never had that!
You had me at mint chutney.
Now I want a Toast-Tite!

If you make it again can you make me one?
Shouldn't you use paneer??
Paneer isn't really a melting cheese and in all the making of vids the cheese definitely melted.
@SandwichesofHistory makes sense!! Still looks delicious 😋

Indian food is in my opinion the most complex and yet satisfying cuisine in the world
Pudgie-pie!!!!!!
Its called a jaffle iron, used to be very common in Australia 😂
Yep, Sandwiches of History, you've figured out how to be famous... but can you turn that into riches?
Please, put famous in quotes lol
I'm pretty sure all the Indian sandwiches are at least 9s lol
Never had a pudgy pie???

I predicted a 10 before the 45 second mark. I was close!
The India street vendors are some of the best in Asia. You have to know where to go or you will get sick.
Didn't mix anything with your hands after visiting the DSS so it isn't authentic.
now that was a shot, that, that was a shot
Where's the beef?!?! Oh... right. Never mind. Thanks!
You lost me with the cilantro....yuck!
