Don’t make your entire testimony depend on one piece of evidence because if our understanding of it expands and it doesn’t turn out exactly as we thought, then our testimony was built on a false premise.
Christ is who we build our testimony and faith.
Anyway I absolutely love this stuff and have always believed the Book of Mormon is a true preserved historical record of a once great nation lost to time.

Why look for evidence? For the same reason people dedicate their lives to other historical research, paleontology, preservation of antiquities, etc. For the same reason I look through my great-grandmother’s journals and photos. For the same reason so many of us enjoy hearing true stories from history. To learn about the past, to connect to our predecessors, to let the people who have passed on know that we know they were here and they are not just random names on wind-smoothed grave markers. To know that we are all connected. We know that the sun rises, that the moon has phases. that the stars are in constellations, that planets are connected into solar systems, and yet we continue to search for more information, more evidence, more knowledge. Because we are creatures of learning and wonder, who never tire of new evidence about things we love and know to be true.

Couldn't agree more! The Salt Lake Tribune never misses an opportunity to slander the Church or at best present them in a negative light. I refuse to read them any more because they have lost all objectivity and credibility!
It's so sad to see how the Salt Lake Tribune consistently attacks and ridicules the church. Decade after decade.

I had and have faith First of all
Then Joseph Smith our Prophet finds bones and explains who he is.
Mounds,in different places.
Then another elder ,brings a very tall skeleton to his attention, he advised the man to put him back,telling him who he was.
See,we long before facing facts coming forth
Belive in the Holy Bible and what truths it still held,I knew it was probably missing things, then read the parts Joseph Smith translated Beautiful.
Made better sense.
And facts came out for its truths in many different things.

As someone who left the church due to basically zero evidence. I'm excited to see what they come up with.
There is ample, abundant evidence. You just choose to ignore it. The testimony of the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon not evidence enough for you? Or the testimony of the eight additional witnesses (and others)? The miraculous translation of the BoM by an unschooled man, the establishment and growth of the church in fulfillment of prophesy, the severe persecution brought to bear against Mormons including an order of extermination by a governmental unit, etc, etc. Ultimately you can gain your own testimony (evidence). Millions have done so. And millions will know Brother Joseph again.

Hopefully this shows not just mesoamerican evidence but heartland too. More solid and robust evidence including DNA evidence in the heartland model. Also Joseph Smith said it himself that the people of the Book of Mormon lived in this country (usa)
Totally agree. We will be anywhere there is potential evidence.
If you are searching for hard evidence, you are not gaining a testimony or true conversion. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1). An answer from the Holy Ghost is what was promised by Moroni.
These types of "quests" seem like a lot of philosophies of man, trying to prove scripture. If you lack, ask God; but ask in Faith, nothing wavering.
Totally agree with you. But there are many who see things differently and either lack or have lost their faith. We're just hoping to spark something that may get them back to having faith and believing.
Book of Mormon took place in America… the river Sidon is the Mississippi River…
You never know. We'll be checking out any and all places that may offer up possible "evidence."
I would be shocked if this wasn’t totally biased to the meso model. Bom central was founded by the creator of the model. Agenda always trumps courage.

It is a true marvelous work and a wonder how fake it is. But it's still teaches good things. I loved that book until I found out so many truth claims are actually flawed. The church could have been so good and so true. A shame to Jospeh Smith. What a fraud of a prophet. But what a perfect time to start a church with a seer stone. Wonder if the truth was laid out to all potential members would they still join knowing all the inconsistent first vision versions, the false translation of the book of Abraham, the fraudulent banking system, the polygamy and ployandry, the lies to Emma, the lies to the government about polygamy...it goes on and on. But the book of mormon is a good story told by a good storyteller.

Mormonism is a cult started by the demon Moroni and people who follow this false gospel are accursed. Put down the Book of Mormon, pick up a Bible and learn about salvation by grace through faith, not of works.
At least we don't believe that most of the inhabitants of the earth will be automatically thrust down to hell because they never have the chance to hear about and accept Jesus Christ. That's the most evil belief ever contrived (thank you evangelical and Protestantism)
