I would definitely say Magneto proved the naysayer wrong. He was willing to die to protect Leech. He did fail to save the child, but the important thing is he *tried.* He fully expected to die there as well.
Mr Sinister used the DNA of Bolivar Trask to upgrade Mastermold into the Tri Sentinel and launch a massive invasion on the mutant nation Genosha which was protected by Magneto . But the real mastermind behind all of this is the human sentinel hybrid , Bastion

Why couldn’t magneto just crush it? The sentinel mentioned that magneto was the omega level and not gambit
original 90s series shows they adapted to magneto. Theys tarted making Sentinels out of plastics and ceramics. so there is no metal to crush
