Just moved to Florida, and just had my first experience with a real sand MX track a couple days ago. Holy crap, what an experience! Lotsa places to ride, and it's all sand. I will learn to master it!
I will agree with the comment that sand is a BEAST. It might get fun one day, but for now, my son and I just hate it. The problem is that we live in Florida. It's kinda like not liking heat and humidity. There is just no way around it for us. But we are working on it.
Super cool video Chase - I really want to try out your bike sometime. Anyways, along with having the proper tire, if you know you're only going to be on sand, you can lower the tire pressure a bit (not too much to cause a rim slip, but enough for some added traction). Also - don't take off from a dead stop too hard, as you may roost not only your buddies behind you, and fill their goggles with sand thus causing time and play delays, but you can also roost yourself and fill your pants and cause chaffing issues that will lead to shortened ride times. One thing I always do with the air filters in the sand is to use rim grease along with the oils. Try not to use super greasy or waxy chain lubes in the sand - does more harm than good as the sand cakes up in the rollers. I've had good success with 3-in-1, WD-40, or light silicone sprays as replacement...
Those are all good points! Especially about sand in the pants. That never goes well. And i'm sad to report that I no longer have gold ol' Honda Housey. I'm now riding a yellow and blue machine! Thanks for the good input.~Chase
In 4wd's the number one most effective thing that will make or break your drive is lowering tyre pressure, surprised that this isn't apparently the case with bikes
Thanks Chase! Went to Nellis Dunes near Vegas yesterday. Pushed myself too far and ended up wiping out 3 times. I wish I had watched this first! What about airing tires down? If yes, how much?
The exhaust is pushing out a lot of air so there's really no way for sand to get in through the exhaust if the bike is running. Thanks for checking out the video!
Add a touch of Vaseline to the inside of your goggles, on the upper and lower foam. It will gather any sand that might get into your goggles and keep it from bouncing around and into your eyes.
I’m 67 years old, don’t want to ride fast. I ride in northern Michigan, plenty of sand. On my ssr 125 I put the fattest, knobbiest tires on, a softer rear shock to lower it , and reversed the triple clamps so the steering stem is actually forward of the forks. Probably won’t be possible on all bikes, steering stops may interfere. This increases trail dramatically which gives straight line stability. Google trail and rake.

Nice work!

I wish I could go ride in Florida haha. Minus the heat and humidity, of course. - Chase

On rocky sand areas I would not lower tire pressure, abut ride farther back on seat.
Gopher Dunes is my favourite sand track to ride Courtland, Ontario Canada
Sand Hollow, Warner Valley. Tough terrain!
Good to see you on a bike ripping it up Chase. Great video!
Island Rider! Glad to see you on here. I'll bet you're itchin' for some FantasySX huh?

I suppose you could go 1/2 to 1 lb lower, but I just run the same PSI as normal. - Chase
@@rmatvmc Thanks.
Well I wasn’t planning, on on a sand track man!😂 I just wanted technique...
Gotham Mountain MX has a cool sand track 👍🏻
Little Sahara climbing sand mountain and behind sand mountain in the bowls
I miss Little Sahara, used to live 10 miles from it, used paddles there.
How do the combination sand tires compare to paddles in loose sand dunes? it would be nice not to have to change over every time.
great video where was it filmed? looks like some fun trails were you out by little sahara? i would live ride those trails .
Can this help with Yz 85's and even Yz 125's as well
Yes it can.
My back yard. Southern New Mexico .
Sorry if I sound dumb but how do u stop the sand going in the exhaust?
The exhaust is pushing out a lot of air so there's really no way for sand to get in through the exhaust if the bike is running.
Thanks for checking out the video!
Would this also work with dune riding?
Is there sand there ?
milestone is were i i first rode my dirt bike
Hope that front sprocket dont come loose at 3:38 ^^,
Baja acres is the best
Yo I'm in Michigan too brah

The River-bottom near my house
4:20? Who did you allow to bar on your tire with a couple screwdrivers???
Believe it or not, those are from rocks from trail riding haha.
Dunas Villa Gesell!
Was gonna say what about tire pressure? Too much PSI in sand isn't good.
little sahara
I see advertisements for products, not much technique....boourns
you gonna be at budds creek or am i going to be disappointed
I won't be there. Sorry M1ke2001. Have fun at the races!~Chase
:C maybe next year
Wareham mx
Fun place to ride
You dont need a sand tire just lower your psi and have keep the rpms up when you ride.
dope video but its all gear, no sand riding techniques.

This duckling tried sand the other day for the first time. Obviously, this whole video is CGI. lol I hated it and went for a hike instead!
Tip 1: Get some other dude to do it.
Your tank is your seat in the sand
